The mystic man with a persuasion for flavor, ZhengTann takes on the Enchanted Meadow! Could this outing snag our writer his first legendary? Or will the trials of Pokemon's newest typing prove themselves too difficult to surmount? Only time will tell...

ZhengTann

Issei Hyoudou, "Red Dragon Emperor" - Charizard (M)

Issei is a very, very perverted lecher. With a fetish for much bigger female Pokemons. Unfortunately, due to his small size, most Pokemons did not even acknowledge his existence - the first one to do so, a Tropius, struck him down with a malicious yet unknown intent. Which is how Rias found him. After Tanner and Rias helped him to recover, he regains his bluster, but underneath all that harem ambitions he professes all the time, his honest-to-goodness trait and his willingness to be stronger (and then own a harem) endears him to Rias' peerage as what some would call "The Fool".

Trying to grow and evolve faster, Issei inadvertently tapped into a strange power, a second voice in his head that sounds more like another entity than an alter ego. Calling himself "Ddraig", its mere presence allowed Issei to learn how to reach heights of power he previously thought impossible, although the price to pay is steep. Ddraig's own origins are mysterious - but cohabiting within Issei's body, they grew to believe in each other by necessity, and Issei grows to rely a lot on Ddraig's advice in things he keep to himself.

But it seems his training is not enough for him to keep up with the changes. Natsu taught him how to fight with emotions, and he took it to heart - channeling his lust into battle rage. But even that fails to help him - until he saw his weakness in not being able to protect someone dear to him. Until he saw the world being so unjust to him and a friend he made, simply because his foes are stronger. It was then when he was overcame by a new kind of strength, known beyond the Fourth Wall as "nakama power".

Gardevoir - Lucy (F)

Born without a family in the wild, Lucy’s life has been fraught with peril of being hunted and bullied by most other wild, stronger Pokemon. One such incident left her under severe shock from poison by an unknown aggressive Poison-type. Had a human not happened by, she would’ve died or at best, crippled for life. Luckily, Zheng was the second person to found her, called by a fellow trainer who was looking for mushrooms in that region. Together they saved the Ralts, and after a brief discussion Zheng named her Lucy and brought her into his family. Gray was the first to be able to contact directly with her, but it was through efforts and enthusiasm of the whole gang that brought her out of trauma and into life again.

Despite her growing strength, Lucy still has much distaste for open, direct conflict - hence she is very much like Wendy in that regard, learning the arts of healing and support, using direct attacks as distraction rather than full-on assault. Despite that, she gets on quite well with most of the brawling boys - they respect her decision, and will not hesitate to take her side against any foes who dared to so much as insult her. In turn, Lucy is the logical voice of the whole family - her ideas always astute outside of battle, with her innate mental capabilities only enhance her charms and perception.

Lucy likes to spend most of her time penning her thoughts into words, giving herself clarity on her own emotions. Confident in her appeal and skills, she sometimes still has her doubtful moments, but learning to calm her inner storms is something Zheng taught her to do diligently, and she always falls back to that in any situation.

The discovery of Gardevoirite trade intrigued Zheng, and when Lucy came in contact with it, she seemed to be in a far tranquil state of mind. Such was here power with the Mega Stone that the whole monastery and even nearby areas are shrouded in an aura of peace and compassion. Taking care not to affect the lives of others, Zheng had since been cautious in allowing Lucy to come in full contact with the Stone, unless the battle demands for the release of her powers.

Muk - Cana (F)

Cana is an alcoholic, probably one of the very few Pokemon throughout the world to actually enjoy imbibing such beverages. Her natural biological system is the prime cause for her incredible alcoholic tolerance, and also of her encounter with Zheng - she was drinking in the wine cellar under a small inn when the innkeeper caught her red-handed. Flustered, the innkeeper cannot do anything without Pokemons, and Zheng arrived to save half the cellar, while paying off the other half. Flirtatious and often half-drunk, she's quite an addition to the family - as well as quite the reason of Zheng's oft-empty purse.

Her drinking exploits have garnered quite a reputation amongst the locals, much to Zheng's chagrin. However, Cana was smart enough not to bring her habits into the monastery, and so Zheng can't really do much but rebuke her gently. When sober, she often purifies the monastery's nearby stream by absorbing all the intoxicants and harmful substances from the water - which is why some local brewers drew water from the monastery when they make their ales.

Nature: Quiet (+1 SpA, -15% Speed, -10% Evasion)

Type:
Poison type: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic status. Absorb Toxic Spikes on switch-in. Perfect accuracy when using Toxic, Poison Gas, or Poison Powder, hitting even during Dig, Fly, etc. Ignore Fog's accuracy reduction.

Store Command said:
For the next six (6) actions, this Pokemon's moves will have their poison / toxic effect chance double.

Command Type: Type Exclusive | Accuracy: -- | Energy Cost: 5 | Priority: 0 | CT: None
Abilities:
Ability 1: Stench
Type: Passive
Cana's sexy, boozy odor reeks into each of its attacks, causing all of them to have a 10% flinch rate. This applies to each hit of a multi-hit move.

Ability 2: Sticky Hold
Type: Passive
Cana cradles her items much like the way she cradles her alcohol barrel, in a strong grip that prevents item theft or swapping.

Ability 3: Poison Touch (DW Unlocked)
Type: Toggle
Cana can channel her body's alcoholic resistances into a form of offense. Whenever she hits an opponent with a contact attack, that opponent has a 30% chance of being Poisoned. If disabled, all of her attacks that inflict regular poison will inflict Toxic poison (with the same chance of effect).

The Enchanted Meadow

Enchanted Meadow. It's a beautiful rolling plains in Kalos, covered in a mix of flowers and grass. It's hard to believe that such a peaceful place could hold a great secret, but the locals have sworn that they've seen a very oddly coloured Floette recently arrive in the area, and with it a large number of Pokemon have made their home in the meadow. Locals also report that in the middle of the night, large beams of light have been striking the sky. You're not too convinced that this is anything more than a shiny Floette, but it would probably be a relaxing exploration, and so you decide to have a look on behalf of the villagers...

The path weaves it's way around, traversing the meadow easily. There's many types of flowers, a wide variety of colours. You're quite surprised when out of some particularly tall yellow flowers a Dedenne pops out! You're only a little more surprised when the Dedenne managed to tackle Charizard a substantial distance away, and begins to Charge power in an ominous manner. You've no clue how something as physically weak as Dedenne managed to take Charizard that far away from you either...

A densely packed area of bushes, it seems impossible to move without managing to find a new berry. It's probably a good thing that these bushes are lacking in thorns though.

  • Pokemon with Cheek Pouch can swap a Berry they are holding for a new one at the start of a round when their controller orders first.
  • When the Berry of a Pokemon with Pickup is consumed or destroyed, the berry is recycled at the end of the round.

With some clever substitution abuse and a fortunate gust of wind, Charizard manages to avoid certain peril. Its Mega Evolution is proving quite the formidable opponent for small Dedenne. Can it fend for itself for one more round?

Note to self: Dedenne got another Micle Berry. Oh why oh why did I equip Gardevoir so early...

"Ow, for a small kid he sure hits hard-"

"Hey, watch who you're calling kid!"
Fly > Metal Claw > Fly
IF Dedenne would use Natural Gift in a combo AND Issei-Charizard-X is NOT under the effects of Substitute, THEN replace that action with Protect AND the next with Metal Claw instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Dedenne would use Paralysis-inflicting moves, THEN replace that action with Substitute (15HP) instead, pushing remaining queue back.

RP 1 | Round 3: The power of Team Play!

ZhengTann is happy to have reunited with his Red Dragon Emperor and along with his team, he laughs at the puny Dedenne's offensive power as he heals, disables and attacks with no major set back.

Dedenne seems to be scared of the team, especially of the Gooey Sludge Pokemon, Cana the Muk. She trembles at the very sight of her Sludge filled body, and when she sprayed acid all over Dedenne's face, She couldn't stop herself from breaking down into tears.

What plans does ZhengTann and his team have, for the cute and harmless Electric Rodent? Lets find out on the flip side.

I think you missed Parabolic Charge's damage. Post-round should see Charizard at 55 HP, Gardevoir 90 HP, Muk 104 HP.Also forgetting Cheek Pouch means I should've Sludge, sigh.

"So how do we convert him to our side?"

"Uh, use your Telekinesis to chuck those Pokeballs at him?"

Of Mice and Mischief

RP 1 | Round 4: The Cute Mouse Trap!

ZhengTann is happy to have damaged the Electric Mouse significantly, and tries to capture the fairy with a string of Moon Balls that slowly chips away at the Dedenne's resistance, until she finally gives up, and accepts her new master.

ZhengTann takes a breather to manage his team, while being wary of the hidden secrets that await him and his pokemon, as they venture deeper into the Enchanted Meadow.

Will his search for the glowing light lead him to something amazing? Or will it lead him into a trap?
Stay tuned to find out more when we return.

Charizard got a Roost, a Heal Pulse, and took a Parabolic Charge and a Struggle from Dedenne. That's 23+20+20-5.5-2 = 55 HP, by my count. You miscalc'ed Struggle's damage. Also I'd like Dedenne's profile, P&Q.

"Come here little one :) *dovery-eyes* "

"Aww you're cute, after all. What's your name?"

"R-Rasei."

"Helo then, Rasei, welcome to the- Ow!"

RP 2: A kind man indeed - Part 2

Whilst you can't afford to use all your healing items on the Lotad, you feel that you can spare some of them. The spray bottle gives out a liquid that makes Lotad feel substantially better. He then dives into the pond behind him, and resurfaces with a couple of items on his back. You're surprised at the fact at how, these items might have landed down there, but you take them nevertheless and continue your journey.

ZhengTann uses a Potion and gains a Poison Gem, and a Cherish Ball.

Ahead of you, you notice some sort of elegant display going on. A Kirlia dances for a small crowd whilst a Tropius rhythmically stomps the ground to create a beat, and interested, you head down towards the performance. Weird. Muk had 3/3 SC/WC but I listed it as 4/6...

"You just disrupted our dance ritual!"

"Doesn't matter sister. The Dedenne will be sacrificed regardless."

"You're going to take Asia's life?"

"Yes. Soon her power will be ours. And you will never reach her in time-"

"NO YOU DON'T I WILL SAVE HER!!"
Issei Hyoudou (Charizard-X): [Mega-Evolve] Incinerate > Fire Punch, both @ Tropius
IF Tropius would use Sunny Day, THEN replace that action with Tailwind instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Tropius is under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN replace the first instance with Incinerate @ Kirlia and the second with Iron Tail @ Kirlia instead, pushing remaining queue back each time.

Lucy (Gardevoir w/ Life Orb): [Activate Trace (@ Tropius' Solar Power)] Imprison [Imprison | Psychic | Future Sight] > Icy Wind
IF Kirlia would use Encore, THEN replace that action with Icy Wind instead.

Cana (Muk w/ Rare Candy): Sludge Bomb [Gem] > Sludge [Gem], both @ Tropius
IF Tropius would use Earthquake, THEN replace that action with Torment @ Tropius instead, pushing remaining queue back.
IF Tropius is under the effects of Protective/Evasive moves, THEN redirect towards Kirlia instead.

Tropius finds ZhengTann's dropping into their performance uninvited as an intrusion to Privacy, and Stomps at the stage with all his might, generating powerful earthquakes that send a shiver down the entire meadow. Kirlia is unaffected by this rampage, as he sees the attack coming and takes precaution. He also Taunts Cana the Muk to avoid his friend being tormented.

The massive quakes shake ZhengTann's team quite a bit. Issei Hyoudou manages to get rid of the berries that the two were holding and gave a powerful Punch on the raging Tropius. Lucy imprisoned Kirlia's powerful stabs and then slowed the Guardians down, while Cana decided to spam Tropius with powerful poison attacks.

Tropius survived the round, but it doesn't seem like she will stay in the stage for long. As the curtains draw to a close, we see another pokemon join ZhengTann's Team. Would ZhengTann be able to get through the Guardians of the Meadow and find what he came for? We will be back next week with an update on his adventure, until then go search for your own legends. May be you can find one for yourself too?

Contesting Giga Impact + Earthquake as a feasible combo, since Giga Impact is a single target contact move. I could go ham on writing up flavor reasons to back this but I'm pretty sure Gale had it all wrapped up in IRC consensus.

If I fail the contest I withdraw from this Fairie Prairie challenge. I made a mistake either way.

EDIT: I forfeit, anyway. I'm not playing as well as I should be, and I'm getting angry at things I shouldn't.

[23:00:22] Gale Giga Impact is single target contact move as you told
[23:00:24] Gale Yeah
[23:00:39] Gale When Power-Up Punch can strike the ground
[23:00:41] ZtheToxic Good luck surviving the concussion.
[23:00:42] Gale And get boost
[23:00:45] Gale Lol
[23:00:53] Gale Well Tropius is dead anyway
[23:01:23] dogfish44 Giga Impact + EQ is fair game.
[23:01:50] ZtheToxic 20 BAP spread move?
[23:02:23] ZtheToxic I understand if it hits only a single target, but unless your user has an SC of 500, no way you're hitting 3 opponents in a Triples and deal the GI damage.
[23:02:36] Gale Bring Wide Guard? or Imprison EQ?
[23:02:37] dogfish44 Counterpoint to concussion: Anime Snorlax in Battle Frontier.
[23:02:47] Gale Lol DF ^_^
[23:03:07] ZtheToxic You know what, this might be a good excuse to start my retirement early.
[23:03:12] dogfish44
[23:03:15] ZtheToxic Yes I'm getting toxic and burnout,
[23:03:25] ZtheToxic yes I'm losing all the stuff I cared about,
[23:03:28] dogfish44 ah well, y'need to focus on your thesis, yah?
[23:03:32] ZtheToxic yes I'm not being competent,
[23:03:43] ZtheToxic and yes I know I'm ranting.
[23:04:15] ZtheToxic So I guess I'll just stay to collect my cohost payment.
[23:04:25] Gale Zt you can still kick arse in that TLR, Revive Ether and Zara Stall can go a long way
[23:04:39] Gale Also you only need to take out Sunflora
[23:04:43] dogfish44 haha, make like a lot of people - take a break. Just don't try like Frosty ^^'
[23:04:47] ZtheToxic No.
[23:04:50] ZtheToxic I'm tired.
[23:04:56] ZtheToxic And I see red whenever I see Gale.
[23:04:56] dogfish44 (Frosty has been trying to take a break for over a year now :P)
[23:05:21] ZtheToxic So I really should take the break and not get my blood pressure up.
[23:05:23] dogfish44 what local time is it?
[23:05:29] ZtheToxic 11pm
[23:05:33] dogfish44 ... go to bed.
[23:05:35] ZtheToxic I'm not sleep-deprived yet.
[23:05:56] dogfish44 Don't care, I can't control my own sleep issues but I don't want you to slip into the cycle. Bed.
