EonX is this weeks winner! (again)

Up next is Qwilfish

I know this isn't technically RU, but it had 4% usage in the 1630 stats this past month so it could be RU soon :o

Qwilfish @ Black Sludge
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Taunt
- Pain Split / Haze
- Spikes / Toxic Spikes

Nothing too new but I feel like when you are not running Thunder Wave Scald is just the batter Water type STAB snaggin pro burns around. EV spread outruns standard Skuntank and Braviary :))))

Check this thread to see why you should use Scald imo

Qwilfish @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Acid Spray
- Hydro Pump
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam

Meet innovation. While Qwilfish is usually played as a hazard setter with no real offensive presence outside of Explosion or a possible Scald burn, this set is easily able to scare away a lot of its common "counters", while serving as a check for some common Pokemon as well. Here are some damage calculations of its "power":

252 SpA Qwilfish Sludge Wave vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Abomasnow: 348-410 (90.6 - 106.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Qwilfish Hydro Pump vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Doublade: 124-147 (39.7 - 47.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 SpA Qwilfish Ice Beam vs. -2 252 HP / 96 SpD Amoonguss: 246-290 (56.9 - 67.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252 SpA Qwilfish Sludge Wave vs. -2 104 HP / 156 SpD Alomomola: 261-307 (52.5 - 61.7%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Qwilfish Ice Beam vs. -2 236 HP / 0 SpD Druddigon: 250-296 (70.6 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Qwilfish Sludge Wave vs. -2 252 HP / 252+ SpD Aromatisse: 282-332 (69.4 - 81.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

(rip, this thing does no damage, but INNOVATION g_g)

Qwilfish @ Black Sludge
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Waterfall
- Poison Jab
- Explosion

This is a fun set to run on both a Rain Team and off of it. Qwilfish gets access to Swords Dance in Generation 3 and for a surprise set this one is great. Coming in late game on a non rain team when checks / counters are worn down and setting up a SD and sweeping is a ton of fun, or alternatively coming in mid-early game setting up a SD and then Exploding when you can not get the KO for maximum damage. Unfortunately Qwilfish can not learn Aqua Jet or Intimidate in conjunction with Swords Dance so as soon as you come in your opponent will know you are an offensive variant (or they might think you are dumb and arent running Intimidate lol). Moves are pretty straight forward, SD to boost moves, Waterfall is STAB and is the most spammable, Poison Jab is for anything that resisted Waterfall like Grass-types, and Explosion is so that Qwilfish can go out with a bang if it is unable to KO the opposing Pokemon. Black Sludge is to increase survivability. Really fun set, I recommend it to anyone who has not tried it out yet.

Qwilfish @ Black Sludge
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 4 HP / 112 Def / 252 SpA / 140 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Taunt
- Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave
- Toxic Spikes

The main idea is bulding a versatile Qwilfish's set, adding to its peculiarities that is OHKO a spinner like Kabutops; In fact Qwilfish's attack is better but also its decent SAtk could be used fruitful. Then Toxic Spikes and Taunt to set entry hazard and prevents an opponent from laying entry hazards down, wish + protect, defog, etc.

Then with a Timid nature and maximum SAtk, you can OHKO Kabutops with SR.
140 Spe is exactly what it needs to be faster than it. Checking on RU speed tiers, we could find an appropiate EV spread to outspeed other 'mons.

Finally, Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave is STABs move, you can select it aggording to chance to poison/power respectively.

Some calcs:

252 SpA Qwilfish Hidden Power Grass vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kabutops: 204-244 (78.1 - 93.4%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Life Orb Kabutops Stone Edge vs. 4 HP / 112 Def Qwilfish: 235-278 (86.3 - 102.2%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
