| THE ASB SINGLES TOURNAMENT |

Welcome, ASB trainers, to the first ever ASB Singles Tournament! Ever wanted to prove that you're the best Pokemon trainer on the ASB block? This tournament is the first of many that will give you the opportunity to play against the best trainer in the league, and climb your way to the spot of Tournament Champion! Who will be the first to reach this pinnacle?

TOURNAMENT RULES
Each participant must bring four Pokemon with them into the tournament. There is no restriction as to what Pokemon you can bring in (including both pre-evolved and fully evolved Pokemon). A trainer's team will always be visible during the course of the tournament, and a trainer must choose his Pokemon from the pool of four he/she has submitted. The Pokemon submitted to the referee (through either myself or Engineer) will be put on display when the battle thread is created. Turn order will be decided on a coin flip by the referee so that there is an even shot at turn order advantages. There are 48 spots in this tournament, which means that we will be doing this tournament round robin style (48-24-12-6-3 with the finals being a rotation-based system).

STANDARD BATTLE RULES
NUMBER OF POKEMON: 2v2
BATTLE TYPE: Singles
RECOVERIES: Two Recovers per Pokemon | Five Chills per Pokemon
SWITCH: Switch=KO
ITEMS: Items OFF
ABILITIES: All Abilities

FINAL BATTLE AND THIRD PLACE BATTLE RULES
NUMBER OF POKEMON: 3v3
BATTLE TYPE: Singles
RECOVERIES: Two Recovers per Pokemon | Five Chills per Pokemon
SWITCH: Switch=KO
ITEMS: Items OFF
ABILITIES: All Abilities

ARENA
The ASB Tournament Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

PARTICIPANT RULES

Battles do not have a specified deadline to post actions, but we're looking for actions at least once every 48 hours. Battles should last around 10-14 days at maximum. No penalty will be given for battles lasting longer than 14 days if the participants post at least once in the 24' hour time span. A player who does not post in the time span will be disqualified and will lose the round. Battle extensions will not be given out. No exceptions. If a battle goes over the 14 day mark, each member of the battle (including the referee) will be placed on sudden death mode, meaning they have 24 hours to make their move.

There is no arguing with the referee over the results of move interpretation. The only permitted arguments that can be brought forth are calculation corrections and referee mistakes (ie: forgetting a certain effect of a move). If you feel that the referee has been making too many mistakes or question the referee's motives, contact a tournament official such as DarkSlay, smashlloyd20, or Engineer and we will look into the matter.

All current ASB rules must be adhered to, including proper battle formatting and presentation. Combo moves are permitted and are up to the referee for interpretation, although a player may imply a desired effect so that the referee may understand the battler's thought process.

TOURNAMENT PRIZES

You may be wondering what the prize is for completing the tournament. Since the ASB Tourney is an event of great prestige, it is only fair that the prizes are grand as well! So, here are the possible prizes one may win:

FIRST PRIZE: The winner of the tournament will be offered one of three legendary Pokemon to add to their team: Raikou, Entei, or Suicune. These Pokemon will come with their learned movepool up until Level 25, three pre-determined BW TM's, and their non-ExtremeSpeed Event Moves as well as a pre-determined nature. These Pokemon are available for use in regular battles, but will be ineligible for future tournaments (unless specified) and gym challenges (this includes use for gym leaders as well).

SECOND PRIZE: The runner up will receive five Tourney Counters, which can be used as universal counters for any of the runner up's Pokemon and TC count.

THIRD PRIZE: The winner of the third place battle will receive three Tourney Counters.

Along with these prizes, players will receive the regular rewards of ASB battles in the tournament. That means 1 EC, 2 MC, and 1 DC when a Pokemon is used in battle, and 1 KO Counter per knock out. These tokens can be spent in the specially made ASB Tournament Approval Thread. Moves and abilities gained during the tournament must be claimed in this thread. You can only use new moves and abilities in the tournament. You cannot use these new moves outside in separate battles.

MISCELLANEOUS RULES

Rotom is allowed to change into ONE appliance, and can switch back and forth between that appliance and regular Rotom. Rotom must start out in the original form when the battle starts, and must take an action to switch back and forth from either form. You are only allowed to bring one appliance with you for this tournament.

Agreeing with all of the above. Kaxtar vs Zarator is definately the match of the round, although I look forwards to a legitimate test of my abilities.

1) The post saying to PM you teams was posted at Half one in the morning*.
2) The rounds were posted at 20 past 5 in the morning*
3) I was asleep like a normal person.

Why do i not get to choose my Pokemon?!?!?!?

*(British Summer Time, UK)

On another note, does this battle count as one of our three simultaneous battles?

While it's on my mind, do we still get our normal prizes for these battles?

EDIT: I should've double checked the OP before posting that. Derp.

Well, maybe Spenstar won't be so ba- OH GOD STARMIE FUCKING HELL.

Er... What else has he go- OH GOD REVENANKH DAMN IT TO HELL.

xDDDDD I am doing everything I can to keep myself from laughing legit out loud and getting kicked out of the school library... It's also ironic because I saw your team and began to get worried about you as well. This is actually my first battle against 2 fully evolved Pokemon, and Nidoqueen and Likilicky look scary.

I look forward to battling you, as I have heard great things about you. Good luck my friend, and may the best trainer win : )

Well, I was on the IRC channel and I found out I was battling you, so I mentioned that on the IRC, and since you were brought up it was fitting that the people who knew you better talked about you a little bit x)

edit: a paranoia-inducing side effect of the predictions thread is that people are betting on my match, predicting who will win, and I have no clue what they're saying. And a part of me desperately wants to know whether the community supports me or thinks I'm a first-round-goner x(

yeah, I'm up against DarkSlay...*quite sob*... I should still be able to get at least one KO on his pokes though, so some consolation. DAMN HIS LIGHTNING FAST GENGAR!

I agree that this was asinine. There was not even 24 hours minimum for people to react. I think this is very unfair for many of the participants, and quite frankly I'm appalled that anyone running the tournament thought it was ever a good idea.

Ummm.... I got a PM regarding this May 23rd. I am british, yet I sent my team in perfectly fine at 8 AM GMT. I don't see the issue, there was plenty of time for GMT.

Between the post telling participants to do it and the beginning of the tournament (OP of this thread), there was not 24 hours (closer to 13). There should have been a full day's time between those two events, regardless of what PMs were sent out.
