discussed every single one of these lol apart from based pidge; but I vote for submissions based not on not how much it makes a Pokémon better, but if it adds anything new or interesting to the meta. FB Pidge does not.

Well the last 3 have been discussed a ton from the last slate, but I'm glad to see Focus Blast Pidgeot has another chance
Focus Blast patches up Pidgeots horrible coverage issue and actually gets something to nail Tyranitar and Heatran switchins which helps it a ton

Not much to say about it, but at least it isn't getting countered by some of the most common pokemon in the tier

That's literally all it needs to be good. Try using a Nasty Passer like Celebi and watch it blow through teams, +2 Pidgeot is disgusting. And with Focus Blast, at +2, not even Rotom-W is a safe switch in.

It'll be a close race between Pidgeot and Krook in my opinion. DD Krookodile is pretty interesting, and it would make it a terrifying sweeper if it's used properly. Knock Off is a great move in pretty much anybody's hands. Ground / Dark coverage is actually really decent, and with two pretty powerful moves in Earthquake and Knock Off, it'll surely be pretty interesting.
Poison Heal Gastro is still really neat however. It's basically a Gliscor with Scald and a better typing. People are only focusing on the fact that it lose its Water immunity. SpD Curse Gastro will be pretty much unbreakable after a boost or two.

Well, with Roost Mantine having won, I whole-heartedly am supporting Krook for the second-chance slate. Typhlosion is a nuke, but he's very susceptible to Hazards, and Gastrodon certainly gets a new role, but a new role which brings competition.
Pidgeot is an improvement, but the way it's played remains the same, and gives it something else Torn-T has that it doesn't in Fighting Coverage.
I have a bias towards Krook for one of my favorite designs, but Dragon Dance would also change up how he's played, and we've already seen evidence of how a set like his could work from Gyarados: 2-move coverage, Intimidate/Moxie, above average bulk, and a Thunder Wave immunity to boot. In fact, Krook and Gyarados could make a bit of an interesting Double Dancer core, Krook Intimidating and Knocking Off items in mid-game for Gyarados to sweep late game. This would allow Krook to outright beat rather than wear down Gyarados's checks and counters for him, the SR resistance means he can switch in more easily, and allows Gyarados to preserve his arguably better defensive typing until he needs to set up himself.

Okay, I don't post anywhere remotely as much as I used to, but I'm gonna put some of my views down here. You can use them as a starting point for conversation.
EDIT:
- Mega Pidgeot: This one I'd like to see a lot of discussion on. It's got that delicious speed tier of 121 meaning that it can clean extremely nicely. Recreant pointed out how nice a Nasty Passer can be with Mega Pidgeot--you can pretty much OHKO the tier at +2. This would be an excellent addition to offensive teams and Volt-Turn offense, specifically. I'm likely voting for this one, but perhaps conversation elsewhere could sway my opinion.
- Krookodile: So this one got a lot of love last slate, but the conversation was pretty abysmal. I'd like to see people posting more calcs and showing speed tiers when they want to prove something is good. I think Krook very possibly could have had about 10 or 15 more votes had the discussion been less "OMG KROOK YAS" and more "Here's why Krookodile is good…" Obviously, Moxie and Intimidate are both excellent assets for a DDancer, but I would like to see lists of things Krook beats at +1--things Krook outspeeds at +1--yada yada yada.
- Gastrodon: Pretty similar to Krookodile in that it received a lot of love but not a lot of good discussion. I think you can make a very convincing case for this to win if you post all of the relevant calcs. Poison Heal is a great asset over Storm Drain in that it completely revolutionizes what role Gastro plays in the metagame. Gastro goes from being a niche counter to a play style to a burn spreading special wall. We all KNOW that it can't counter rain teams anymore, but guess what it CAN do? It can counter a ton of more threats. I'll be disappointed if I have to make a post highlighting all of the things it can now beat thanks to Poison Heal.
- Typhlosion: This one is an interesting one. So we've established that it wouldn't revitalize Sun teams alone. But it doesn't have to do it alone. We haven't even talked about potential partners for Typhlosion. I think that Typhlosion could run a number of sets ranging from Heat Rock to Life Orb to Charcoal to Choice Scarf/Specs. Each individual set has teammates that it would really appreciate, and I'd like to see discussion revolve around teams you could build with Drought Typhlosion.

I did this because I think that all four of these things are excellent additions to the OU metagame, and I think that discussion in this thread has become very watered down despite our growth in participation. I am going to be very active this thread in keeping people on topic and steering conversation towards a productive destination. We need to stop being so lazy in posting in this thread.
