Base stats: 70 HP / 110 Atk / 70 Def / 115 SpAtk / 70 SpD / 90 Spd

Lucario is a very versatile Pokémon that is capable of hitting hard from both sides of the attacking spectrum with impressive attack and special attack stats and decent speed to make him a decent sweeper. It finds many opportunities to switch in with his 9 resistances and 1 immunity, 3 of which are 4x resistances. He also takes a meager 3% damage from stealth rock meaning he can switch in again and again with ease. Lucario can also boost his attack stat even higher with Swords dance and rip teams apart with his STAB Close Combat that, with an Adamant nature, can even KO some of OU's best physical walls after a Swords Dance. He can even hit faster Pokémon with Extreme Speed, or if he wants to hit faster ghosts, Bullet punch, making him an even bigger threat. Lucario is also no pushover from the special side either. With his STAB Aura Sphere and Shadow Ball he is capable of getting neutral coverage on every Pokémon with just two moves, allowing him to use Hidden Powers to hit some of his common switch ins for super effective damage and a priority move on this attacking spectrum as well in the form of Vacuum wave. The best way to beat Lucario is to find out what set it is running, and then send in an appropriate counter for the set. Lucario's best overall counter is Gyarados, due to it being able to weaken Lucario's Attack with Intimidate and having naturally high Special Defense meaning it can easily take on any of Lucario's sets provided they don't carry Stone Edge, Thunderpunch or Hidden Power Rock and KO Lucario with Earthquake. Bulky Grounds such as Hippowodon and Gliscor also make good counters to Lucario that don't run Hidden Power Ice and KO him with Earthquake.
