Shortly after the starters for X and Y were revealed, I decided that I'd choose Chespin as my starter. Not because I liked Chespin's design or anything. I didn't really like any of the Gen VI starter designs at the time. The reason I wanted Chespin was because of a "leak" I saw of what the final starter evolutions would look like.
At the time, I didn't know that this was just fan art, so I got my hopes up for the Chespin evolution. I also hated the design for Froakie's final form. Once the real final evolutions were leaked a few weeks before the game came out I saw Chesnaught. I was confused about why Chespin would evolve into... that thing. I didn't even know what Chesnaught was supposed to be; I still can't tell what it is. Then I saw Greninja. Then Greninja became one of my favorite Pokemon of all time. Because of my experiences with the Generation VI starters, I'm not going to choose my favorite Sun & Moon starter until I see what they look like when they evolve.
