Shouldn't Ash be a Master already? He has more than 32 badges! (even if he is still 10 for some reason)
yeah it should, but they want to make every series ''new'' without him defeating everyone quickly, for example pikacu should be at level 9001

The trailer for the newest series showed an E4 member ordering an Electric attack against Garchomp. I'm glad to know the trainers in the series are dumber than the enemy AI in the games so that I can continue to not watch it.

I hope the show goes the way of Yu-Gi-Oh in that they finally get rid of the entire main cast and start fresh so you don't get tired of them. Because at this point I kinda just wanna punch Ash in the face. Not that YGO is any better but I haven't heard anyone complain about it being stagnant as fuck?

For what it's worth, I would be far more likely to watch the anime again if it looked anything like the BW2 promo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBdp_dLEdqU&feature=relmfu

Otherwise, I stopped caring long ago. Best match besides Bellsprout kicking shit was Gary/Ash in like season 4 or something, everything since has kinda stunk. Not to mention there's also the general trend of whoever beats Ash loses in the final round thereafter too besides the Darkrai/Latios dude.
YES. I agree here completely. If the anime was like that trailer, then I think that a lot of more people would watch. A trainer actually evolving his pokemon and not always relying on a pokemon's will and freaking heart to win, plus actually getting down to business to take out the criminal organization. This would be a game changer.

wow if the anime was like that, many more people would watch it.

Its annoying how much potential pokemon had, but they didin't do anything good with it.

I think it's about the audience it's directed towards. The trailer looks like it could be geared to more of a teenager audience. Just like quite a few popular animes like Naruto and Bleach, which are directed more to the teenager audience. If they made pokemon more serious and explosive and intense like in this trailer, then that would make one wicked anime.

The problem I have with the current anime is how obvious and annoying everybody sounds when they open their mouths. Like when Iris is saying, "A dragon type pokemon like Axew is weak to an ice type pokemon like Vanilluxe!" is just so annoying to hear when you've been playing the game for years.

There's another thing that annoys me, and that's the plot. Ash just goes around defeating three team rocket thugs and earning badges. Every. Single. Season. And it's the same ten year old character over and over again! Give us some new material. Maybe show a sub arc with Barry in it at the Sinnoh battle frontier and earning all the symbols so he can face his dad and prove to him how tough he is. Show us the new BW 2 characters and give us a new plot with team plasma in a frosty region in unova. So it isn't entirely centered around earning badges, but also about stopping team plasma.

And please, let Ash hit puberty, let the main character's pokemon evolve to it's final stage (I don't care if it's Ash or someone else, just let them evolve for crying out loud), and please, please don't bring Dawn back. I hated her with a passion.

Just saying, they did change up Team Rocket quite a bit for the BW series. They're competent, don't appear every episode, and their plans take multiple episodes to execute. One of the few things they actually did very well.

Yeah, that was one of the things that they did better, but going back to what I stated earlier, new characters? I like that team rocket got "buffed" so to say, but I really think that it would be more attractive if we got a fresh new start for pokemon with the characters. Cause seeing Ash lose every league is getting kinda old if you know what I'm talking about.

Though, it's the vast minority of viewers that stick around for more than two league rounds. Most of the kids who watch the show nowadays weren't even born when Ash took on the Kanto league. The formulaic set-up is new to them, because they weren't around the last time the series did exactly the same.

The show is a proper piece of crap if you've watched it all since the beginning, but it manages to stay fresh to new viewers (while alienating every passing generation of old ones once they see it repeat itself for the third time).

In short, we who know the formula are outside the target demographic.

As my friends are fond of saying, Dawn is just a couple centimeters away from being a whore. While I'd personally like to see the series "grow up" a little bit, I know better than to hope that they'll turn away from what has already proven to be a winning formula. The anime has always been about pet monsters and the bonds they share with humans; going in the direction of more action-oriented shows like Blue Dragon would be a huge departure, and most likely a misstep.

However, if they can work more allusions and cross-references into the anime and films (the Zoroark movie had the guardian beasts in their shiny palettes, Ash encountered an academy where students employ battle simulators and are forced to use unfamiliar mons, and the Viridian Gym episode had a nod to Mewtwo Strikes Back), that might give older, disenfranchised viewers some great Easter eggs and a reason to pick up the shows again. Releasing the so-called banned episodes on Adult Swim (Toonami, maybe? Please?) might also appease that demographic, though I'd be okay with keeping the Porygon bomb off the air.

Ash's Pikachu fried a Golem with Thunderbolt in the first movie. Why can't it beat a damn Snivy?

I haven't watched any of the new seasons of yugioh. I stopped after they left yugi and his crew. the difference is they visibly evolved, got better, and smarter (to the point where if they got any better they'd be using real strategies). Also, they actually grew and changed, and so did the people around them (barring weevil and rex). None of that improvement has happened for team rocket, ash, Brock, gym leaders, or who ever ash chooses as his whore for the season.

By Now Ash and Pikachu they are the icons.
yeah but for god's sake the best plan of action is NOT to try to fry everything with thunderbolt.

At this point i feel as though they'd be better off with splitting the anime into two arcs, with one for older people and one for younger kids. Granted, I'm kind of biased and there is no way the older arc would get as much viewing and therefore it would either be extremely crappy or a porno. rule 34. I wouldn't watch either.

I always thought the reason why Legendaries couldn't breed was because they weren't compatible with any other pokemon. It's like if a dog has sex with a cat, nothing would happen.

Or it's just that nothing can take the Legendary Mewtwo penis.

Or it's just that they use the "won't breed in captivity" explanation to stop people from breeding legendary Pokemon.

what is this thread about again?

Well, didn't the Frontier Brains in the "Battle Frontier" season use Legendaries?
Yes but they explain how they caught them, so people don't have crazy theories about them. Brandon found the Regis in various ruins and there's like 10 sets of legendary birds in the anime.

Also, the most interesting part about that Heatran is the fact that the trainer didn't even make it through the preliminaries.

Probably because the trainer gave him a cruddy moveset like leer, scary face, fire fang, and fire spin.

Ash is the Tony Romo of Pokemon Trainers. Great in the regular season, but when it's playoff time he always chokes.
That's being too nice to Romo, as Ash has at least made it to some semis in his competitions and won some unofficial orange island thing, while Romo has won a total of what...2 playoff games in the wild card round in his career?

Then again, it's properly demeaning to Ash, so I guess the comparison could stick.

Teh, Ash seriously needs to make a competitive team for once. The closest he's came to that was in sinnoh with infernape and gliscor. I mean Barry had a more competitive team then Ash did which is....... Actually, Barry had a pretty good team now that I think of it. Skarm, Empoleon, Roserade, Staraptor, Hitmonlee and Heracross aren't too shabby.
