The pokemon are high in the sky on a circular wooden platform with a 100ft diameter. No external water source, rocks or grass can be found on this platform. The platform is too thin to Dig through as well, but the wood is strong enough to allow seismic moves.

Each pokemon starts the battle equipped with 5 darts. Once per round, a pokemon may throw a dart for 5 energy with the Throw Dart command. This cannot be Encored but can be prevented by Taunt, Torment and Embargo. The thrown dart will pop a randomly-chosen balloon and that balloon will have a specified effect. Here are the balloons along with their chances of being popped and their effects:
  • Normal balloon (25% chance): no effect
  • Tack balloon (10% chance): deals 10 damage to all opponents
  • Spike ball balloon (10% chance): deals 25 damage to the opponent with the highest health*
  • Bomb balloon (10% chance): deals 25 damage to the opponent with the lowest health*
  • Ice balloon (10% chance): freezes the opponent with the highest health* for 1 action
  • Bee balloon (10% chance): does 10 damage per action to the opponent with the highest health* for 3 actions
  • Extra dart balloon (10% chance): gives the pokemon 1 dart
  • Triple dart balloon (5% chance): gives the pokemon 3 darts
  • Boomerang balloon (5% chance): gives the pokemon 1 boomerang and allows them to use the Throw Boomerang command, which works like throwing a dart except it also does 10 damage to the opponent with the highest health* and can be used while taunted but cannot be used if the pokemon is throwing a dart in the same round
  • Lightsaber Balloon (5% chance): pops 2 balloons from this list (if one of those is another lightsaber balloon, reroll for that balloon)
*If it's a tie, choose randomly among the tied pokemon with an equal chance for each.

The battlers come out swinging, with Zant blasting Monstro with a powerful bolt of electricity, and the whale spraying Quartz with a jet of boiling water, that unfortunately leaves a burn on him! To make matters worse, his Bonemerang attack flies straight past Mother Gothel as she disables Zant's Thunderbolt attack. Undeterred, the Elekid smashes Monstro with a ThunderPunch, but this doesn't stop him blowing a dart out of his blowhole that collides with a balloon. The balloon drops an extra dart for Monstro, and he flops over to pick it up as Gothel zaps Quartz with psychic energy. But he has his revenge when he throws a dart at a balloon that drops a spike ball on poor Gothel! Zant goes for another Thunderbolt, but it's been erased from his mind, and so his attack fails. Monstro Scalds Quartz again, whose Bonemerang strikes true this time against Gothel, who's busy flipping the bird at Zant! Phew!

I'm having fun with these balloons... So floaty... OH DEAR GOD ONE JUST GOT POPPED BY A THUNDER WHAT THE FUCK. Looks like Zant's attack missed Monstro by a long way. And almost hit me, the little bastard. Fortunately, Monstro avenges me by popping a balloon that contains a spike ball, which collides with the spark plug for big damage. Attaboy! Good whale! Mother Gothel gangs up with him, imbuing his mind with dark thoughts, corrupting his memories... That's some harsh Torment. Never thought I'd be happy for Disney villains. As for Quartz, well, he knows his time is near, and just flings his bones at Mother Gothel.

Monstro and Zant keep the fire burning, with both scoring a critical hit on their respective targets - Quartz and Monstro - which sends them reeling, as Mother Gothel blasts Zant with psychic energy, and Quartz just throws more bones. Zant is really refusing to let up on Monstro though, and slams him with both hands in a brutal Cross Chop, but it doesn't stop him finishing Quartz with a jet of cold water that leaves him unconscious. Meanwhile, Mother Gothel takes her own shot at a balloon, which summons a swarm of bees to torment Zant even further! They sting him furiously as the round ends.

With a fresh Pokémon on the field, can Maxim mount a comeback? In a word... No. They attempt to rid themselves of Mother Gothel first thing, but she simply Teleports away from their attacks without a scratch. Meanwhile, Monstro blasts Zant with scalding water, leaving him too with a painful burn like Quartz before him, but with the added pain of being swarmed by bees. Monstro then cools him off with a Water Gun as he electrifies the whale with a Shock Wave, but the pain of the swarm is too much, and he faints. Monstro picks up his second KO of the match, OH MY! Meanwhile, as Mother Gothel flips the bird again, Orianna's Tail Slap flies straight over Monstro's head. How exactly one misses A WHALE is beyond me, but whatever man. Pokémon logic.

Alone, Orianna desperately tries to sing her foes a lullaby, but it's no good, she's been Taunted and can only attack! Mother Gothel uses the time to Torment her mind, and Monstro throws another dart, that pops a bomb balloon! Uhoh.

That looked painful... Maxim sends out his Scyther Imoji now, to replace his fallen comrade. With 2 mons down, the situation looks bleak, but Monstro and Mother Gothel are looking very worn down...

Well, I am almost certainly screwed, but let's see what I can make out of this.

(Wait...oh crap I did it again, I used dig on a map that can't be dug through...I have got to start paying more attention to the map.)

When someone used Dig on a map with thin ground during a battle I reffed, I treated it as though they had been hit by Roar/Whirlwind switch=KO style, meaning their attack did no damage but it did remove anything that switching out would remove.

EDIT: Then again, that was on an arena in which it wasn't actually specified that Dig was illegal, so ...

Hmm, personally I think we should keep the round how it is and just say that anymore digging will result in KO.

Or perhaps say that the dig worked, but that Minccino suffered some damage as a result of the height.
