The below is a video RNG guide I have been writing a script for.
Hello, I am TheMantyke and with Smogon University, I will be producing a series of RNG Manipulation tutorial videos. Although there are several written guides on the internet, learning RNG abuse can be made worlds easier with a little bit of visual aid, and hopefully this series of videos will help you all learn to get a grasp of RNG abuse. For the purpose of these videos, I will be focusing on the bare procedure it takes to RNG a Pokemon. For information on more complicated examples, you can read through Smogon’s on site RNG guide or the RNG help thread on the forums, both of which will be linked in the description.
If you’ve never manipulated the RNG before, the 5th generation of Pokemon is the best place to start. While the 4th and 3rd gen may have you timing your movements to less than a 30th of a second, 5th generation abuse only requires you to hit a time down to around a second. We will start with what is, ironically, the easiest form of 5th generation abuse, wild captures.
This video will be divided into two sections, the calibration phase and the execution phase. In the calibration phase, you’ll be gathering information about your save file and your Nintendo DS console. You will only have to perform the calibration phase once. The execution phase, as the name implies, is the portion where we actually manipulate the RNG into getting our desired Pokemon.
Before we start, we’ll need a few prerequisits. First and formost, you’ll need to download the current version of RNG Reporter, as of this video version 9.96. If you are using a Mac, PPRNG is the mac equivalent. This is all you'll need on your computer to begin. In game, you'll need an easy way to catch Pokemon and check IVs. I recommend just using a Master Ball, catching high level Pokemon, and using a IV calculator. If you wish though, you can bring along a Pokemon with false swipe and catch them the good old fashion way. You will also need a Pokemon with Sweet Scent. The execution phase in game prerequisits will be brought up later. For now, it's time to get started.
Open RNG reporter and press the Time Finder button. Since this is a 5th generation RNG manipulation, select the 5th gen option. You will be asked to set up a profile. Agree, and you'll see a screen similar to this one. As of RNG reporter 9.96, a profile system is used to keep track of your calibration information. Before typing in anything in the other columns, press the "Find DS Parameters" button. You'll be spending most of the calibration phase typing information into the window it pulls up. First, start entering information on the right side of the window. Specify your version and choice of DS. You'll then be asked to give your DS's MAC address. To find this information, either press the "Nintendo WFC Settings" button on the start menu if you're using a Nintendo DS original or a Nintendo DS Lite, or shuffle through your console's internet information if you're using a DSi, DSiXL, or 3DS. Leave the Held Button section alone. Now, we need to switch to the actual games.
Save your game in an area with high leveled wild Pokemon, such as in Victory Road or inside Giant Chasm. Turn off the power, boot your DS back up again, and get ready to enter right back ingame again. Specify in RNG reporter the Date, Hour, Minute and Second you press A to start your game. For Nintendo DS and DS Lite users, you can just read the hands of the clock on the top screen. For DSi, DSi XL, and 3DS users, you will need to synchronize your DS with an external clock. Note that you should not be holding any buttons down (including A) while you enter the game. Simple wait for the screen to show the Nintendo logo, and you may enter the game at whatever speed you would like. Once you're in game, open the menu, have your Sweet Scent user Sweet Scent, and capture the Pokemon you encounter. Now, it's time to check IVs. RNG reporter has a function that allows you to check IVs with the raw stats of the Pokemon, but I will be using an IV calculator and Rare Candies to check mine. If you're catching things with regular Pokeballs, you could also choose to use Pokecheck.
Once you have your IVs, copy them into the time finder and press "Search. The bottom portion of the window will fill with information. The two things you need to take note of here are your actual seconds and your Timer0 values. The actual seconds is what time you actually got into the game and seeded the RNG. Subtract this value from the seconds value from the time you started and you will have your real seconds value. In the future, whenever you find a seed, subtract that seconds value you found from the second you need to hit your seed to know at what time you should enter your game. Now for your Timer0. Most of you will have two Timer0 values with one being more common than the second. Repeat the calibration process over and over again until you've found a Timer0 values that is the most common for you. When you have both your seconds and timer0 values down flat, click the "Use Results in Time Finder" button and you'll be taken back to the profiles window. The Find DS Parameters Button should have filled in the stranger looking information for you. The only thing left to do is specify the number of key presses you're willing to make. For now, just select 1 or 2 and press the add button to save your profile. If you're one of many DS owners whos L and R buttons don't function properly, be sure to click the "Skip L/R buttons" box. Now with all that we can finally begin abusing the RNG!

Hello, I am TheMantyke and today we will finally be catching our RNG manipulated Pokemon. Now that we have our profile in RNG reporter set up, it's time to start looking for seeds. For those unfamiliar with the concept of a seed, it's basically a time you start your game at to have the RNG start at a certain point. Time Finder will find a seed that can get you whatever IVs you desire when you boot up the game. For this video, I will be after a flawless Adamant Golurk with Iron Fist
Set the month and year to whatever value you wish. Set the Min / Max Frames to 1 and 1 and the Method to "IVs (Standard Seed)". Set the Encounter Type to Wild Pokemon and the Encounter slot to any. In our case, we will be catching Golett in an area where there are nothing but Goletts, so encounter slots are irrelevant. Now we need to pick out our IVs. In our case, we will be selecting 31/31/31/x/31/31 spread since Golurk's special attack does not matter. Since we are not searching for a shiny Pokemon, everything right of the IVs column is irrelevant, so hit generate and wait. If in the end you find no results, try expanding your button presses to 3 or try changing your month or year.
During the calibration phase, we found a seconds value, the difference between the time of the seed we hit and the time we started the game up. subtract your seconds value from the seed you found and you'll have when you need to start up the game. Now, we finally get to the DS.
Boot up your DS and change your time to the minute nearest to your target time. If you're using a Nintendo DS original or DS lite, you can keep track of what seconds value you're on the top screen. If not, you may need to synchronize your DS with an external clock to keep yourself on track.
Simply hit your time and hold any buttons the seed specifies. Immediately as you enter the game, open the menu and have your sweet scent user do its work. Now, catch the wild Pokemon.
Check your Pokemon's summury screen to see its IVs. You can run the stats through an IV calculator if you'd like, but it should be fairly obvious if you hit the right seed for your IVs or not. If there's any doubt, just make a quick trip to Nimbasa city to check with the guy in battle subway. If you don't see the right IVs, more than likely timer0 screwed you up. Sadly, there's nothing you can do but reboot the game and try hitting your seed again.
Now there's also the chance that you got the right IVs but your nature or ability are incorrect. If that's the case, you hit the right seed, you just need to advance the PIDRNG upon entering the game. Copy the
If you're lucky, you may get what you want on your first try. To get the right ability and nature on this Golett is only about a 25% chance. If I'm overwhelming you with everything from here and the calibration video and you have the right IVs,
