RP Overview

Energy management is the key for survival here. Many of your mons will be constantly drained of your energy to shake off the cold. To add to it the scenarios provide different strategic problems that need to be solved quickly if you hope to have any chance. Think fast and act even faster, before the cold catches up with you.

Arenas:

Type: Snow

An open mountainside. Frigid snow flies through the air and saps the life out of everything it touches.

  • Pokemon without a Fire or Ice Typing lose 1en per action.
  • Fire STAB have its bap reduced by 2.
Type: Ice

A huge nest high above the ground. The air seems to clear your head, but there's no respite from the deathly chill of the snow.
  • Pokemon without a Fire or Ice Typing lose 1en per action
  • Fire STAB have its bap reduced by 2.
  • All pokemon get the ability "Inner Focus"
Type: Cave

A small cave being engulfed by a snowdrift. Even outside of the wind's influence, all heat seems to be snuffed out by the cold.
  • Pokemon without a Fire or Ice Typing lose 2en per action
  • Regular Fire moves have their bap reduced by 2. Fire STAB have its bap reduced further by 2.
  • No External Water or Rock Source
Type: Plain Terrain

A large gateway carved before a glacial ravine. Ice is harder than steel and water freezes before it can reach the ground.
  • Pokemon without a Fire or Ice Typing lose 2en per action
  • Regular Fire moves have their bap reduced by 2. Fire STAB have its bap reduced further by 2.
  • Ice is now neutral to Rock and Steel.
  • Water-Typed moves are Water-Ice Dual Typed.
  • Earthquake can be synchronized even if both pokemon using it don't move without interruptions. If done synchronized by more than one pokemon, it will hit flying and levitating pokemon for half damage too.
Type: Plain Terrain

A large arena carved from the ravine by an ancient civilization. The high walls protect you from the brunt of the wind, but the open design lets in the frigid snow.

  • All pokemon are permanently under the effect of "Taunt".
  • All pokemon (including the ones the trainer have out) lose 2en per action.
Type: Snow

A narrow ravine gauged from the mountain by glacier water, protected fully from the wind and snow. Natural deposits of strange powders crumble from deposits in the walls, forming two piles on opposite sides.

  • The move "transform" and the ability "imposter" are unaffected by switch-forcing or self-switching moves
  • The move "Knock Off" has no additional effect
Type: Cave

A high-ceiling cave, every surface coated with slick ice, giving it the facade of a grandiose fortress of crystals. The air hangs with an otherworldly gelidity, colder than anything in this world should be. The algid air seems as though it could freeze anything at any moment, even an open flame.

  • Pokemon without a Fire or Ice Typing lose 3en per action
  • Regular Fire moves have their bap reduced by 2. Fire STAB have its bap reduced further by 2.
  • Ice is now neutral to Rock and Steel.
  • Water and Steel no longer resist Ice.
  • If the player has 3 pokemon out, at the end of each round the pokemon out from the player with the least energy gets frozen for 1a. This affects even pokemon that would otherwise be immune to freezing by virtue of typing or ability.
  • Mega Metagross can mega-evolve without the need of a trainer and is considered to have also Ice Typing for the purposes of Hail immunity and immunity to energy loss from the arena.
The pokemon you chose to command on "Survival of the Fittest" provides you with a benefic effect, whereas the first pokemon defeated by you provides a harmful effect. If the pokemon you chose to command doesn't KO any pokemon, it provides you with a harmful effect instead.

Whenever an effect calls for a pokemon to act every round, it will happen on A0, before the actions themselves but after switches.

Whenever an effect calls for a pokemon to act in a specific action (or for X actions), it will happen at priority 0, considering the stats and abilities (but not items!) of the respective mon as per their profiles.

  • Absol: All your moves are guaranteed critical hit for 2 rounds
  • Excadrill: Player can command Excadrill to hit a pokemon of their choice with Drill Run 3 times. This command doesn't take up an action, but can only be used once per action at most.
  • Vanilluxe: At the begining of the first 3 rounds, Vanilluxe will use Icy Wind on Kyurem and Mega Metagross
  • Audino: For the first 3 rounds, your pokemon will be healed from status at the end of the round (same mechanics as the ability "Healer", except with no rng roll).
  • Tangrowth: Player can command Tangrowth to use Stun Spore or Sleep Powder once each. This command doesn't take up an action, but can only be used once per action at most. Those moves will hit the target without the need of a rng roll.
  • Clefable: Player can command Clefable to use Softboiled twice. This command doesn't take up an action, but can only be used once per action at most.
  • Absol: All the opponent's moves are guaranteed critical hit for 2 rounds
  • Excadrill: Ref can command Excadrill to hit all pokemon from the trainer's side with Bulldoze 3 times. This command doesn't take up an action, but can only be used once per action at most.
  • Vanilluxe: At the first 3 rounds, Hail will be up. This cannot be changed without a weather stone (air lock still works though).
  • Audino: For the first 5 rounds, Kyurem and Mega Metagross will be healed from status at the end of the round (same mechanics as the ability "Healer", except with no need for a rng roll).
  • Tangrowth: For the first 3 rounds Tangrowth will use Leech Seed on all the player's pokemon and the amount of hp sapped each action will be divided amongst the pokemon on Kyurem's side of the field.
  • Clefable: Ref can command Clefable to use Softboiled twice. This command doesn't take up an action, but can only be used once per action at most.

Scenarios:

It's been a long trek to get to this point, but your journey has only just begun. You've followed rumours to get to this point, tales of a strange screaming coming from the mountains at night, unrest growing among the Pokemon, and prophecies about the reawakening of a mythical dragon of ice forgotten by time. You can't be sure of how much of that is true, but what you can be certain of is that the coldsnap spreading across the region is coming from here, and it only gets worse the closer you are to the source. You thought you were prepared, but despite the heavy layers of clothing, the eerie chill still manages to creep its way into your bones. You still have a long way to go, but even fires are beginning to struggle against the cold. If something's not done soon, the entire region could fall under this spell.
The low whistling of the wind forms a steady hum as you scale the mountain, the monotony broken only by occasional distant snap of tree limbs failing under the weight of the building ice. A sudden cry pierces the wind as a enraged Pelliper swoops towards you, a Vanillish trailing closely. Whatever they may have been doing before, their sights are now set squarely on you.

[Initiate Battle with Pelipper and Vanillish. Arena: Snow Valley]
Having dealt with the attackers, you continue along the path only to find it cut off by a sheer cliff face, but it's the only path you have. The air is thin and the cold numbs your body, but you set up the icy crag with all of your strength. Your muscles strain as you pull yourself over the lip of the cliff and you tumble over into a large bowl carved into the icy stone. A cacophony of squawks snap you to your senses. You're in a Delibird nesting ground and five of them are trying to drive you out!

[Initiate Battle against Nest of 3 Delibirds. Arena: Chilling Nest]
You crawl out of the other end of the nest and push forward, trudging through waist-deep snow and facing savage winds. Through the howling wind, you can make out the sound of tree limbs snapping from the wight of the snow building up. After what seems like an eternity of white-out conditions, you're graced with a leeward-facing cave for reprieve. Inside, you find a Syclant tending to the mushrooms and herbs growing on the cave walls, both of which you recognize as potent restoratives. The snowdrift is slowly creeping into the cave and you spot a pile of baubles in a corner. Perhaps one of these holds the key to getting the Syclant to share its healing crop?

Player Options
A) Offer a healing item or a pokeball to Syclant's treasure horde.
B) Push back the encroaching snow to keep the cave open.
C) Just take what you want.

Syclant takes your offer, turning it in its claws and inspecting it carefully. After a brief period of analysis, it accepts the gift and hands you some mushrooms and herbs in return, enough to heal your pokemon considerably.

[REF NOTE: Heal each of the player's pokemon out at a rate of 5hp per CC spent, to a maximum of 20hp]
You and your Pokemon work together to shovel back the snow creeping into the cave. It takes a considerable amount of effort, but you manage to complete the task. In a display of overwhelming gratitude, Syclant carries an entire armful of restoratives to you, enough to heal a lot of your pokemon's health!

[REF NOTE: Heal each of the player's pokemon by 20hp. deduct 20 energy of each pokemon for it]
When you try to steal a mushroom, Syclant knocks you aside and blasts <Pokemon of ref's choice> with an icy wind, damaging them and forming a wall of ice that separates them from the rest of your group. As Syclant sharpens its claws and stares down your <Pokemon>, you can only watch, unable to come to their aide.

[REF NOTE: Initiate Trap with Syclant against pokemon of Ref's choice. Trap Moves: Icy Wind and Hone Claws. Arena: The Frosty Shop of Treasures]

[Defeated Syclant]
Having <defeated/captured> Syclant and reunited with your <Pokemon>, you are free to take as many herbs and mushrooms as you can grab, enough to heal a lot of HP.

[REF NOTE: Heal 20hp of all pokemon the player has out]
Leaving the relative safety of the Syclant's cave, you press on in pursuit of your goal. The further you head into the glacial wind, the harder the snow becomes until it eventually becomes stiff enough to support your entire weight and you begin walking on top of it. Through the blinding snow, you can make out the form of a giant woman, a statue carved out of the face of the cliff. Surely you are on the right path! As you approach it, you see it is part of an ancient gateway leading into a glacier-carved ravine, probably a relic from an ancient civilization. At the gateway stand two Pokemon, a Mamoswine and a Piloswine, both ready for the next ice age and willing to do anything to make sure you don't stop it from happening.

[Initiate Battle vs Piloswine and Mamoswine. Arena: Glacial Gateway]
Traveling into the narrow ravine, the howling of the wind is slowly replaced with the sounds of a raging battle further ahead. Moving on, the ravine widens into an arena-like enclosure. Inside, six Pokemon face off, separated into three 1v1 battles: Absol vs Excadrill, Vanilluxe vs Audino, and Tangrowth vs Clefable. Their behaviour seems odd, as if the cold has affected their minds. They may be fighting 1v1 right now, but you can tell they won't stop fighting until there's only one Pokemon remaining. It would be insane to send your Pokemon into this battle, but perhaps you can make it go by more quickly by providing guidance to one of the combatants?

- First, paste the paragraph above and allow the player to choose one of the 6 pokemon available. The player should post the profile of the pokemon chosen, with moves picked equivalent to 10 MC (instead of the 4 allocated by default). After that, you post the profiles of the other 5 pokemon and move onto the next stage.

- At the first round, the pairings will be Absol vs Excadrill, Vanilluxe vs Audino, and Tangrowth vs Clefable. Any attack can only affect the pokemon the user is currently facing. Do the battle of the pairing involving the pokemon chosen by the player. After the 1vs1 battle is done, if the player's pokemon is the winner RNG the winner of the other two battles, lower their hp and energy to 20% and have both face the player's pokemon in a 2vs1 battle (consider this a nest for the purpose of turn-order). The winner of said battle is the winner of the brawl.

<PLAYER MON NAME> is very grateful to your assistance and gives you a Max Revive, thanks you and leaves the place. You wonder if you are going to meet it again.

In the other hand <POKEMON KO'D FIRST BY PLAYER MON> looks to be mighty pissed at you. It seems it might want to extract revenge at some point, but you are too focused on your current goal to give it much thought.
<PLAYER MON NAME> sighes and tends to their wounds. Despite their clear frustration, the pokemon thanks your for your assistance and leaves the place. You wonder if you are going to meet it again.

With the brawl over, you press on, exiting the other side of the arena and continuing through the steadily widening ravine until something catches your attention. A Ditto springs towards you from a distance, hoping side-to-side as it closes the distance. To the right of you is a pile of metallic dust that seems like it would harden the defenses of the Ditto. To the left of you is a pile of gleaming, golden powder that seems as if it would make the Ditto far too fast to keep up with and incredibly accurate. You're only able to block off the path to one pile of powder on your own. You could have your Pokemon defend the other pile, but they would be vulnerable to having their own item taken.

Player Options
A) Stop Ditto from getting Metal Powder.
B) Stop Ditto from getting Quick Powder.
C) Stop Ditto from taking either item.

You block off the Ditto's path to the Metal Powder, but it's still able to reach the other pile! Empowered by its new coating, it challenges you to a battle!

You quickly move to cover one pile and send your Pokemon to guard the other, preventing the Ditto from getting either. Enraged by being denied, the Ditto quickly steals <item> from <Ref chosen Pokemon> and attacks!

Having dealt with the Ditto, you exit the ravine and your goal is finally in sight. At the summit lies the cave where all of the infernal wind can be traced back to. You can hardly walk through the blizzard, your boots threaten to freeze to the barren stone with every step, you're beginning to lose feeling in your fingers, and your goggles are iced over with hoarfrost. Every instinct you have is telling you to turn away, to run and never come back, but you won't. You've come too far to turn back. The fate of the entire region, maybe even the whole world, rests on your shoulders. You push on, knowing that you can't turn back, now.
You make it into the cave, but the wind is unyielding, threatening to push you pack outside of the cave. Just as your legs are about to collapse beneath you, the wind falls dead and you fall to the ground. The air seems frozen in place, with even snowflakes refusing to fall to the ground. The cave shudders and icicles begin to rain down around you. A pile of grey and icy boulders shudders and rises from the floor before letting out a blood-chilling scream, revealing itself as the fabled dragon of ice, Kyurem! Answering Kyurem's call, an explosion of light fills the cave and a frost-blue Mega Metagross rushes forth to Kyurem's side, ready to defend its master. Everything you've gone through has lead you to this moment. One way or another, Kyurem must be stopped!

[Initiate Battle vs Kyurem and Mega Metagross. Arena: Absolute Zero]
It's been a long road, but the threat of Kyurem's icy reign has been put to rest, all thanks to you. Already, the air has begun to return to normal. The feeling slowly returning to your extremities as you travel the long path home. The ravine, the arena, the gateway statue, the Syclant's cave, the Delibird nest, and back down the mountain. The only choice that remains is whether you will choose to go down in history as the heroic saviour of the region, or will your name be forgotten to time, never having told the world about what happened here?
