As the audience applauds, four figures small compared to the enormous stadium around them, stride out onto the two starting squares laid out for them. Two bugs, one burning with a fire of impatience, the other walking out slowly make their way to the lush island in the middle of the small pond of the arena. Their trainer stands in the red square ready to give them commands. The other team, composed of a strong statue-like monstrosity and a beast of wood and fire rush over to the other square, followed by their trainer.

The venonat begins, summoning a ball of glowing poison sludge and throwing it at the plant being, who crumples over in shock. Still lying on the ground, it growls in a low rumbling voice. As if obeying his voice, the top of the rock mountain begins to shake. The Golett joins in, lower still. The peak shakes a little more, and then suddenly, as fast as you could say "Don't zap me, Pikachu!", it falls. The whole top peak rushes down the mountainside at the two bugs, who are covered in rocks from head to toe. Larvesta seems to have taken especially lots of damage, as it can no longer be seen, but then it pokes out its head, entirely unharmed. Evidently its trainer had prepared for this and sent out an invisible protective shield while it was waiting.

It jumps out completely now, and focus all its energy on a powerful attack in the works. Venonat also plucks itself up and tries to restore its lost health by draining energy from Golett, but it is not enough. The growling turns into low monotonous chanting, and the rest of the stone peaks near the top fall down. Larvesta starts, as it experiences true pain for the first time and flinches in shock, unable to finish its powerful attack.

Larvesta is still in shock, so it cools down to calm itself so it can help its teammate. Venonat continues the poison attack, and soaks Embirch in poison. Angry now, the two pokemon on Deadfox's team chant louder and louder. The whole peak 15 ft tall and wide now rushes down onto the poor bugs' heads, dealing critical damage to the Venonat.

While the mons return to their trainers for a brief rest, it appears deadfox has the upper hand, but the high and loose rocks are all gone now and so breaking and calling the rocks will exact ever-increasing energy from them.

Succumbing to exhaustion, Venonat lets loose the last of her bowel acids, poisoning the Embirch severely. The brave but tired Larvesta shoots out flames at Wildfire. But it seems it concentratedtoo hard, for the stream of flame stops abruptly and Golurk can barely be seen in the smoke crouching over the cowed Venonat. Embirch turns his attention to the bug who poisoned him and breathes out a torrent of roaring flames. Zarator runs to his fallen Venonat and recalls it to its pokeball. All this time, the technicians have begun to repair the rock mountain. Oblivious to this, Statute tries to call down more falling rocks, but to no avail. The engineers (including one pikachu dressed as a human) are holding the rocks firmly in place worth their machines. Larvesta does not turn her attention away from Embirch and breathes fire at it, hoping to bring down at least one enemy. She doesn't succeed, but as she turns away in despair, Embirch is wracked by the poison and falls over unconscious. After one more futile attack by Larvesta, Statute finishes the big off with the newly replaced rocks. Deadfox has triumphed!
