I've asked our guy here that's been dealing with IGN to have them do a more detailed article for the San Jose data, since it takes a while to pull all of this data together.

Just thought you guys would enjoy this information. I'm sure he'll post more of it each week, so it wouldn't hurt to check the threads that I linked to at the top. (Although it would be nice if he posted the lists here as well *winkwink*)

Haha, I KNOW, right? Unlikely he'll read this but thanks to Mr. Liesik for the information, as the stat nerds Pokemon has made us become we really appreciate having this data available.

Notes:

1. Under Seattle, I boxed the numbers representing the Pokemon used by the Seattle champion, biffsterpkmn, and did the same with ryuzaki and zerowing in their regionals. I mostly did this so we can eyeball if people copy the winners the way they have in previous years, but it's kind of interesting just to see the winning Pokemon relative to usage, too.

2. Pokemon who have increased in usage each event since Seattle are highlighted in green.

3. Pokemon who have decreased in usage each event since Seattle are highlighted in red.

4. The % of Teams is now Total / 49 rather than the expected 48 since there were 102 pokemon in San Jose instead of 96 for some reason. Seattle had 95 and Dallas had 96, so this is roughly gives you what the stat is intended to give you. I guess.

5. First appearances in Dallas: Darmantian(2), Cobalion(1), Ferrothorn(1)

6. Thundurus is the only three time champ. Terrakion and Hydreigon have won twice each.

when does arlington's come out?
The results of the past few weeks have come out when the official site has been updated (Tuesday or Wednesday of last week for San Jose), so we can expect these around the middle of the week.

Something is wrong with these numbers. Assuming the top 16 players were all using 6 Pokémon, the highest any of these totals could be is 96. The San Jose Masters list totals 102, meaning there had to be at least one more player if everyone used 6. Of course none of the other top 16 hit that 96 cap, meaning multiple people in every division weren’t using a full team. Here are all the totals for those wondering:

Seattle
Juniors - 84
Seniors - 88
Masters - 95

San Jose
Juniors - 84
Seniors - 90
Masters - 102

Any better theories on how they ended up with these numbers?

Maybe they miscounted? Mike didn't say in his post on Pokegym how they collated the data, so there could easily have been some human error.

I noticed that too (in Master's, anyway, I don't really care about the others), Master's is close enough that they probably just missed a +1 when they were recording Seattle and double counted or added an extra team in SJ, but most of the others aren't even close so no clue there...

Something is better than nothing anyway, I guess.

I was wondering how they were finding the people who got Top 16, and I thought maybe they were just finding the Pokemon in the Finalists Lounge, when they hack check? (Like it records which Pokemon are used) Of course, there aren't enough Pokemon on the list for that, but it could be some form of that.

Thanks for the link... good to see Terrakion taking what's his this week.

I'll update my spreadsheet thinger in a couple hours to include all three stops when I get home, didn't save a copy on my phone for some reason so I can't edit it at work.

So here is a less pretty version of Synre's usage tier list (I was curious and kinda itching for a current one), but updated! It follows the same format. Pokemon are listed by usage, Pokemon in blue were used by the respective Regional's Master's winner (PokemonVGC has not uploaded the Finalist's teams from European Regionals as of the upload date of this post).

The super serious "Usage Percentage" took the total count from all of the regionals and divided it by 96, which leads to a slight error, but it is really too small to notice.

Disclaimer: I am not trying to step on anyone's toes at all or show anyone up, since other people's original product was much more beautiful and far superior to this kinda rushed chart, but in my curiosity and impatience I thought people would like a preliminary new version.

Guys, when I remembered the VGC, mike checked everyone who made it to finalist lounge, not specifically to the top16, so maybe there were a few extra teams before they were weeded out, as my pokemon weren't recorded when I made it to the top16, but they were when he checked them on his magic program on that awesome ds with the weavile and cyrus sticker.

Looks like the UK one is wrong. The guy who beat me lost in the top 16 to Ruben, had an Eelektross in his team. Adding up the numbers, seems like it's top 8 only, since it adds up to 48.

Edit: herp derp realised this is obvious.

Holy Crap, props to the senior who got top16 with a stunfisk! Seriously, that takes balls.
Oh yeah, I remember that guy, sitting right next to me, but he didn't make it to the top8. Red shirt, beaten by JRank's friend Brandon. Funny, before our battles, he told me he used stunfisk.....

Since people nagged me for not updating last time...

Big thanks to Mr. Liesik for giving us this information this year, really cool to be able to look at it and have some facts to play with instead of just subjective experience.

As far as notes on this week's chart, the fill is way less sloppy so used that to denote winners. The green/red is a little more subjective this time, I arbitrarily used 6% change since week 3 as a cutoff; increases by 6% or more are denoted with green text and decreases by 6% or more are denoted with red text. I'm tempted just to add a column about the % increase or decrease since Week 3, but going to bed for now so maybe I'll do that in the morning.
