The ASB Tournament Arena

Surrounded by thousands of screaming Pokemon fans, the ASB Arena can be best described as a standard Pokemon battling arena. In the center of the arena lies a dirt-based floor outlined to show two separate sides (with a white Pokeball center). Surrounding the dirt is a moat filled with water. The moat is about fifteen feet wide and creates a perimeter around the dirt arena. The arena itself is eighty feet wide, one hundred feet long. All moves, weathers, and abilities are legal for the match, since it's an outdoor arena with a large water source and packed dirt. Pokemon must stay in the arena (or the dimensions of the arena in the case of Flying Pokemon, who cannot leave the arena and cannot fly higher than sixty feet). This prevents Pokemon from injuring the crowd watching the tournament. There are no outside interruptions by fans, Pokemon, or other elements not associated with the current battle.

Round 1: Offensive Defense

We're here today to report a live tournament battle in ASB world! One challenger has sent out a shrimpy fellow by the name of Float the Krillowatt while the other one - you know him - has sent out Quartz the Togekiss! Oof! Will this be as one-sided as I think it is? Let's see how the dice rolls!

Being faster, Float rolls into battle like a rolling ball and wildly charges into Quartz's body, dealing great damage overall (but Magic Guard prevents the recoil damage!). Despite being pushed back a little bit, Quartz shrugs off the hit with ease and retaliates back with a shocking Thunder Wave, inflicting Float with a 25% paralysis!

Ohohoho! Now who's faster? Quartz is! And with that said, he certainly takes advantage of the Speed difference by creating a 15 HP Substitute. Luckily, Float manages to pull her act together and fire a Ice Beam straight at the Substitute, but her weaker offenses means that the Substitute barely lives on!

Afterward, Quartz snickers from behind the Substitute and applies some Toxic gas into the arena, which eventually make their way to Float and intoxicate her! Now that's one shrimp no one's gonna eat! Float couldn't care less about all the status connecting onto her - especially the Toxic, thanks to her Magic Guard ability - as she uses her Wild Charge to slam the Substitute down. The Substitute suffers and breaks from the powerful, but reckless, electrical bash and reveals a mischievous Quartz, who may have one hell of a lucky plan next time around! That's what the Jubilee Pokemon is for, right?

So far, I have no idea if Float's offensive approach paid off or if Quartz's defensive approach was worth it. Float seems to be having the upper hand so far though! Can Kaxstar make a return from all this heavy pressure?

Action 1
Float (Wild Charge): (9+3+0) x 1.5 = [18 DMG/6 EN]
Quartz (Thunder Wave): [7 EN]

Action 2
Quartz (Substitute): -15 HP [12 EN]
Float (Ice Beam): (10-1.5) x 1.5 = 12.75 ~ [13 DMG/7 EN]

Action 3
Quartz (Toxic): [7 EN]
Float (Wild Charge): (9+3+0) x 1.5 = [18 DMG/6 EN]

"Whoops...almost forgot to post!

Dissolve the gas of Toxic into Aqua Jet to combine them, then Copycat Togekiss-let's get up a light screen of our own!

If you're paralyzed turn 1 and can't execute the combo, set up a 15 HP Substitute turn 2."

Round 2: DOWN WITH LUCK!

Let the match continue!

To recap, we have a completely healthy Float and a worn-down Quartz. This really isn't looking too good for Kaxstar...

In order to prevent the nastiness that is status from happening, Quartz attempts to quickly set up a Safeguard. However, Tortferngatr has a trick in mind. He orders Float to quickly Aqua Jet right toward Quartz and spout out some Toxic gases right into his face! Good thing the paralysis didn't interfere with this plan! The fact that Float was already toxicated further improves Float's chances to inflicting some serious toxic poison into Quartz's system before the Safeguard even got up! Oops! Looks like that was a no-go!

Afterward, Float is flat-out tired from the combo and collapses onto the ground for a little nap. Oddly enough, Quartz isn't THAT angry and instead of attacking Float as she rests, he sets up a shield of Reflect that surrounds himself. He joins the screen with another barrier - that is Light Screen! What a mighty fortress Quartz is now, but can it stand against the Toxic inflicted earlier? No matter, as Float recovers from her exhaustion and Copycats the Light Screen from Quartz right out of his hands! This will surely be one sluggish battle from here on out!

Alright, we've crippled him. Now he's likely going to go on the offensive. (BTW, Temperantia has informed me that as a priority attack, the combo should have only had 2 power before STAB...)

Hax hurts, but now he's on a timer.
"Use a Wild Charge+Aqua Jet combo, then chill!"

If he uses Protect turn 1, make a 20 HP Substitute and execute the combo turn 2!"

Fixed all "Kaxstar" to "Kaxtar". I didn't know I was this blind. Sorry Kaxtar!

(No, really, I thought that was actually your name.)

Haha Flora.

Well, I hate to say this, but I'm throwing in the towel. My Internet access is much too sporadic at camp, and if this battles continues, I would wind up DQed anyways. And let's face it guys, there was no way in hell that Kiss and Sazandora could defeat a Krill and Scylant.

Gg Tort, gl in the next rounds. As always, thanks for reffing Flora. Sorry for those who voted for me to win, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
