Tournament Round 3! Engineer Pikachu vs. Solstice! [WON BY ENGINEER]

Status
Not open for further replies.
Arriving yet again at the ASB Arena for one of the third round matches of the ASB Tournament, Brandon took his place in the reffing stand. While he had a match of his own to look forward to in this very same arena later on, right now he was concentrating on giving the fans a great experience. Hold up the microphone, he said, "Hello ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Round 3 of the ASB Tournament! Our match here today is between Engineer and Solstice! Engineer is a long-time veteran in ASB, but his opponent is no novice either! This will definitely be a great match! While the trainers prepare, let's go over the rules!"

"The ASB Arena is ready to roll! You guys are safely protected behind a shield which also prevents any interference from the crowd! The ground is perfect for both digging and seismic activity, and the moat around the edge acts as both a water source for Surf and a new terrain for battle to take place! Now then, the trainers seem to be ready to release their Pokemon!" As expected, the two trainers released their first Pokemon. Engineer lead with Tsuki the Kitsunoh, while Solstice responded with Aviatrix the Sigilyph! "Oof, this doesn't look too good for Solstice, but stranger things have happened, and that Sigilyph looks like a tough customer. Any second now the teams should show up on the screen for your sakes... and there they are!"

Solstice, you're up!

Ok Aviatrix we're at a slight disadvantage, but here we go! Lead off with a Hypnosis! If it misses keep using it until it hits! Then for your next action use Calm Mind, then Shadow Ball!

Hypnosis until it hits-Calm Mind-Shadow Ball

Good morning, you bastards!

Your Hypnosis will never hit!

Substitute (15 HP) - ShadowStrike - chill
IF (Sigilyph's Defense modifier is negative on A3) THEN (Use Ice Fang instead)

EDIT: This is assuming that hitting the Substitute does not count as hitting Kitsunoh. If hitting the Sub does count as hitting Kitsunoh, then use the actions below:

Substitute (15 HP) - ShadowStrike - Fake Out

The substitution in perfect form would be "If Hypnosis misses replace next action with Hypnosis and push remaining actions down", and since Hypnosis can miss a Substitute, I'm going to count hitting the Substitute as hitting.

"And here we go! Tsuki is starting us off this round, and she's going for a Substitute! According to our technology it has 15 HP, not much but more than enough to block that incoming Hypnosis! Looks like Aviatrix got the short end of the stick there! Now protected from status, looks like Tsuki's going on the offense, and yes! It's Kitsunoh's signature move, ShadowStrike! That's a super-effective hit, and boy did it hurt! The blow even left some residual energy behind, lowering Aviatrix's defense! That's only going to make things harder for Aviatrix, but it looks like she's preparing herself for later with a Calm Mind! Not sure if that's the best strategy, but we'll see if it works out! And now she's going- oh wait, there's a Fake Out from Tsuki! What a lightning-fast move, and the blow even made Aviatrix flinch! Not the start Solstice was hoping for, I'm sure, but there's still plenty of time to make up the difference!"

That went pretty well (also boosts are 1.75 now, but that didn't matter for this round)

Taunt - ShadowStrike - Rock Slide

Shadow Ball to start off Sigilyph, then use Charge Beam! Finish with another strong Shadow Ball! That taunt is a pain but you can follow through!

Shadow Ball-Charge Beam-Shadow Ball

Also OOTS is amazing so the ref delay is completely justified, best webcomic ever.

"Alright, we're ready for the next round! Looks like Tsuki's using Taunt! What a mean Kitsunoh, but it's effective nonetheless; Aviatrix will only be able to attack for the next while. And attack she does with a Shadow Ball! That hit the substitute for some good damage, but it's still standing! Looks like Tsuki's taking advantage of her protection while she has it, and now she's smacking Aviatrix with another ShadowStrike! Those are hurting a lot, and this one left a second shadowy wound, lowering Aviatrix's Defense yet again! Aviatrix is responding with a Charge Beam however, and that finally breaks the substitute! Some of the energy remains in Aviatrix's body too, raising her Special Attack!"

"And now the Pokemon are just going all-out! Tsuki crushed Aviatrix under a massive Rock Slide, dealing even more damage thanks to the wounds from the prior ShadowStrikes, but Aviatrix is still fighting back with another Shadow Ball, finally inflicting damage to Tsuki! And look at that! The shadowy energy is continuing to effect Tsuki, lowering her Special Defense! That'll help Aviatrix, but seeing her current condition it may be too little too late!"

"Alright, the Pokemon are ready to go at it again! Tsuki is starting to show signs of fatigue, but she's continuing to go on the offense with a powerful ShadowStrike! Another rough blow, and I don't think Aviatrix can take another one of those, but at least this time it didn't leave one of those shadowy wounds! Aviatrix seems to have accepted her fate, and is going down swinging with Shadow Ball! That one hit, and it looks like it left some shadow energy behind like the last one! Tsuki's Special Defense is lowered yet again, probably not what Engineer wanted to see! Tsuki is setting up a Substitute now, probably to prepare for next round, but I don't think Engineer had that Special Defense drop in mind when he did that, and sure enough the substitute was broken by that Shadow Ball from Aviatrix! She may go down, but she's leaving her mark on that Kitsunoh! But Tsuki's had enough, and here comes the killshot! Another ShadowStrike, and Aviatrix crumples! She's knocked out folks! Wasting no time, Solstice has recalled her, and is sending out his second and final Pokemon, Equinox the Volcarona!
