At the next stage in the battle, we now see two Scratchet facing each other! Shaman has been weakened somewhat but is still ready to face his new opponent Hatchet. Shaman tries another Blast of Focused energy, but Hatchet Protects itself from the attack. Then Hatchet coughs up a cloud of Toxic gas that smells like a combination of goblin breath and orc armpits, but Shaman scrambles up the wall to get away from it. Then he jumps off the wall and lands on Hatchet before Swiping him Furiously with his bare claws! Then Hatchet pushes him off and says the three words guaranteed to drive someone mad. Shaman Focuses his energies into another Blast to take down Hatchet, this time doing some real damage with it.

Grinding can be heard again as the walls on the sides close in. Then a faint click is heard and dozens more poison darts fly out of the walls at the ends of the arena! Both Shaman and Hatchet are hit by the flying darts and the poison will slowly drain them of their vitality.

Not at all what I had in mind. I wanted Shaman to get Toxiced, and instead we both end up with regular Poison. Well its better than not having him poisoned at all I guess.

Lets start with a Rock Smash, then heal up a bit, and then use your Fury Swipes. Protect yourself from any one Focus Blast, but make sure to get the Roost in.

Rock Smash - Roost - Fury Swipes
Protect one Focus Blast, pushing back any other actions.

Once again, Shaman fires a Focused Blast of energy to knock Hatchet down, but Hatchet is Protecting himself from the attack again. This time, however, the attack was slightly more powerful than before and it took a little more energy than normal to avoid taking any damage from it. TravelLog orders Shaman to calm down and have a Roost but I think Shaman has a few words to say about being ordered to not attack a pokemon that taunted him. Meanwhile, Hatchet Smashes Shaman like a Rock, prompting Shaman to launch yet another Focus Blast. The attack hits, but it's not quite as powerful as the other one would have been, and unlike Shaman, Hatchet is perfectly fine with Roosting. Keeping one's own strength up always has been vital to success in Deathtrap Dungeon.

Suddenly, the walls on the sides close in again and the grinding noise is accompanied by a loud, high-pitched shriek coming from all four walls. It looks like the tortured souls whose engraved faces are the only remnants of their existence wish for the two Scratchet to share their anguish.

also, lol Objection. I realize my orders sucked but I'm preoccupied with moving tomorrow and flying home. Hopefully this round turns out better

Lets start to do some damage. So begin with Rock Smash. Then use Fury Swipes. And finally, since we don't want to be taunted, but we don't want to be attacked either, Protect yourself from the taunt.

Both Scratchet continue to fight despite the wailing in the background. Shaman appears to be doing a good job considering he took significant damage from Blaster earlier in the match. Once again, he launched a Focused Blast of energy at Hatchet, who is knocked flying into the wall, but then Hatchet returns to Rock Smash Shaman. Shaman then starts clawing at Hatchet in a Fury Swipes frenzy. He hits Hatchet a couple of times and one of his blows lands harder than normal. Hatchet, on the other hand, is too focused on blocking out the screams and doesn't fight back. Eventually, he gets Shaman away from him, and then Protects himself from whatever might be coming his way, but nothing comes his way as Shaman is unable to concentrate on his next move.

There is another sudden grinding, but this one is louder than before. This is the part where the walls usually close in quicker until they come together and flatten anything in the room. However, just as the room shrinks to a mere 20ft wide, the walls stop and the grinding becomes a creaking as the machinery behind the walls seems to be failing! Moments later, a couple of explosions can be heard as the machinery blows apart. The walls on the sides are now stuck. The shrieking has ended too. But it's not over yet. A hissing sound can be heard as, once again, a thick cloud of gas fills the room, making it hard for both pokemon to see.

And suddenly it looks like both Scratchet are fighting blind. Shaman launches another Focus Blast while Hatchet tries another Rock Smash. Amazingly, Shaman's attack hits while Hatchet misses completely! Seizing the opportunity and having calmed down after being taunted twice before, Shaman takes a breather and Roosts while Hatchet Swipes Furiously at him, landing three hits before being pushed off. Shaman, sensing that he is running low on energy, Chillaxes, even while Hatchet manages to land a Rock Smash on him. This time, Shaman is weakened a bit more significantly by the attack and is having a hard time putting his guard back up.

The gas in the room dissipates, allowing both Scratchet to see each other again. A faint click is heard followed by the whoosh of a huge swinging axe overhead. However, both pokemon duck underneath it easily.

The two Scratchet are looking extremely worn out and can barely continue. Both of them have been suffering from poison for a long time, but Hatchet takes another breather and Roosts again, while Shaman unleashes a couple of Fury Swipes on him. While still in close quarters, Shaman launches a Focus Blast that knocks Hatchet into the wall, then Hatchet picks up a big Rock and Smashes it on Shaman's head. The force of the attack knocks Shaman out, but Hatchet starts coughing violently and, as the poison takes hold, he too succumbs. Both Scratchet are returned to their pokeballs.

Spikes shoot up from the floor, but neither trainer has yet released their final pokemon. They both wait until the spikes retreat before sending out their final pokemon.

So it comes down to Loki the Syclar vs BigPecks the Ducklett. Loki begins by Doubling his Team, but all that effort goes to waste as BigPecks smacks the real one with an Aerial Ace. The clever Ducklett realised that the best way to work out which are the illusions is to whack them all. That certainly worked for Redswift back in the day. Seeing that she has the advantage, BigPecks continues to bombard Loki with Aerial Ace after Aerial Ace, while Loki makes his Tail Glow to power himself up and then starts a Blizzard in the confines of the remaining chamber of Deathtrap Dungeon.

Suddenly, a faint click can be heard and the giant axe swings once again. Loki is safe on the ground, but BigPecks is lucky to avoid the blade!

All right jas, give the orders.

Quick thing: I asked on IRC last night, and most people said Aerial Ace guarantees a hit, but not necessarily on the right one. Just that it would definitely hit one of the images, whether real or not. Just wondering about that.

I asked on IRC and was told that Aerial Ace does guarantee a hit on the right one. I'll see if I can get an official word on it from someone like Deck and if you're right then I'll re-ref the round accordingly.

Bumping because I have an official ruling from Deck: Aerial Ace does guarantee a hit on the real mon.

jas, it's time for you to give orders.

Ok, lets switch to a Wing Attack so that we dont wast too much energy, then go right beck to Aerial Ace twice more. But being countered is bad, so if Loki is readying a Counter, switch over to Hurricane.

Wing Attack - Aerial Ace - Aerial Ace
If Loki ever tries to Counter, replace that action with Hurricane.

This doesn't look too good old friend! We're going to have to hope for a freeze! Hopefully the smallness of the chamber will help us put with that (by my calculations it's only 10 by 10), given that the ice can do nothing but accumulate! Also, try to freeze his wings if possible, without them he can't fly to use aerial ace!

Loki appears to be getting desperate as he summons multiple Blizzards while BigPecks Attacks with her Wings and then continues the Aerial Ace bombardment. It proves to be a tough fight for the pair of them, much like the tough fight between the troll champion Kryll and the Bloodbeast of Fenworth. Both pokemon are looking exhausted after exchanging blows and BigPecks has to come to ground after her wings feel somewhat numb, but ultimately Loki just cannot stand any longer. He faints and is returned to his pokeball and TravelLog has been defeated. Now let's get TravelLog, jas and BigPecks out of there before the walls decide to start working again!
