Arena: Ice Canyon

A hollow, symmetric depression in a glacier, 25 feet wide at the bottom, 35 at the top, and 50 feet high. It extends too far away to exit. There's a water source in the form of an icy brook or stream flowing through, but Dig is considered an Ice-type move; the glacier is too deep to hit soil. If you need more water, you can always melt some of the wall. Stones have been brought in from god-knows-where, and they can be used for attacks like Rock Slide. Earthquake, Bulldoze, and Magnitude will still inflict seismic damage. Earth Power can pierce the ice long enough to deal Ground-type damage. The walls are surprisingly stable; no avalanches can be triggered here. Ice-type moves cost 1 energy less to execute here.

Good Luck Trainers!

This appears easy, but looks are deceptive.

Freeze (Syclant), Protect, then Tail Glow!
Flotsam (Sealeo), Waterfall Numel, then Hail!
Float (Krillowatt), Imprison Megawhal's Earthquake and Tackle, then HYDRO PUMP Numel!

We stand here, awaiting the start of the 3v3 Triples battle between Its_A_Random and Tortferngatr. Random brought three Pokeballs with him. He grabs the first one and tosses it into the air, and in a flash of light, Shovrill the Excadrill appears on the field. He grabs his other two, and calls out Megawhal the Colosshale and Tormeldon the Numel. Tort tosses his first Pokeball in the air, then the next two, summoning Freeze the Syclant, Flotsam the Sealeo and Float the Krillowatt. Tort seems to have the slight team advantage, but let's see if Random can overcome the type disadvantages.

Freeze begins by creating a Protective barrier around himself. Float then begins to mentally link herself to Megawhal. It seems that Float has just Imprisoned some of Megawhal's moves. Shovrill doesn't seem to bother by what his opponents do, and just sits there, Honing his Claws. Tormeldon then begins generating an energy from beneath the icy Earth. The ground begins to rupture from underneath Float, then erupts with a fierce Power, sending her into the air. Megawhal then begins to act hurt, which is odd, since she hasn't been attacked yet. Flotsam decides to take advantage of a seemingly weakened foe, and rushes in to attack. Just as he is about to attack, Megawhal smacks Flotsam with a dirty Sucker Punch. Flotsam responds with a Waterfall, but Megawhal only seems to be invigorated by the attack.

Freeze then begins to be charged with an energy, as his Tail begins to Glow bright yellow. Float then launches a Hydro Pump at Tormeldon. However, Megawhal jumps in the way of the Hydro Pump, and absorbs it, thanks to his Storm Drain. Both Shovrill and Megawhal then begin to pick up rocks. They then throw them at their opponents, attempting to bury them beneath the Rock Slides. Freeze is able to avoid both of the attacks, while Flotsam takes the full brunt of both attacks, being burried underneath and unable to attack. Float gets hit by Shovrill's attack, taking some critical damage, but is able to squirm out and avoid the next Rock Slide. Tormeldon then begins to heat up the ground, melting the ice. He then kicks at the ground, creating a massive Sandstorm in the canyon.

I'm back folks.

Anyways...
Shovrill: Sand Rush Force Drill Run (Float) > Rock Slide
Megawhal: Rock Slide > Fire Fang (Freeze)
Tormeldon: Heat Wave (Freeze) > Heat Wave (Freeze)
Substitute Tormeldon's 2nd Action with Sandstorm if Hail was used at any point of this round.

Mountaineer exploitation ftw...

"Let's take out that narwhal!

Freeze: Bug Buzz Megawhal twice.
Float: Wild Charge Megawhal twice.
Flotsam: Hail, then Waterfall Tormeldon!"

If my calcs are correct, Megawhal is ORKO'd (one round KO'd) by a double Bug Buzz (27 damage per hit) and Wild Charge (23 damage per hit, remember Magic Guard negates the recoil). (27*2+23*2=100) This leaves Tormeldon (who is too busy negating Hail to hit Syclant) completely open to Waterfall.

I'm posting this now so I don't go past the DQ time. I don't have time to do all the flavour right now. When I get back in a few hours I will add it all. The first Rock Slide caused Krillowatt to flinch. Syclant was burned by the Fire Fang.

"Its_A_Random is happy to retain the upper hand to this battle!"

Shovrill, your job is to take advantage of Float's strategy & Drill Run Float twice to render him useless for the round! Float will most likely collapse under pressure before long!

Megawhal, if you're still alive, I want you Sucker Punch Freeze, then Sucker Punch Flotsam!

Tormeldon, I want you to Flamethrower Freeze & put it out of commission! Then I want you to use Earth Power on the under pressure Float!

Shovrill starts the round out by Running at Float, spinning his claws like a Drill. He keeps charging at Float, but ends up crashing into her Protective barrier. Freeze can see that Megawhal is near his end, as he charges in to finish the Colosshale, only to get smacked with a Sucker Punch! The little Bug begins to Buzz, then attacks Megawhal with the sound, knocking the whale out. Tormeldon is quick to avenge his fallen comrade, blasting Freeze with a powerful Flamethrower, frying Freeze like an ant under a magnifying lens.

Float tries to set up another Protective barrier, but she can't set it up in time to block Shovrill's powerful Drill Run. Tormeldon takes advantage of the stunned foe, as the Earth begins to crack from underneath Float, then erupts with a magnificent Power, that is able to KO the Krillowatt. Flotsam then propels himself forward, smashing into Shovrill, with the force of a Waterfall, sending his target reeling backwards. Shovrill is quick to regain his footing, as he prepares to deal the final blow.

Shovrill is ready to end this battle, as he buries Flotsam underneath another Rock Slide. Tormeldon takes advantage of his foes position, as he summons an Ancient Power from the earth and piles more rocks on top of Flotsam. Flotsam then jettisons out from the rocks, and blasts into Tormeldon, rocking the Numel with a powerful Waterfall. As Flotsam looks on at Tormeldon, Shovrill comes up from behind, and once again buries Flotsam in a Rock Slide. Flotsam can't bury himself out from under that, as Tort recalls his fallen Sealeo and congratulates Random on his victory.
