USM RU Break This Team

Summary of thread: Ever faced a powerful team that sent you looking for a brick wall to bang your head against or spent the day just wondering how you lost so hard. These teams can define metas yet everyone knows those moments don't last forever and sooner or later the teams flaws will be exposed for the world to see and a group of Pokemon will emerge to break it. The purpose of this thread is to find said weaknesses and create cores that can break the teams of infamy because deep down everyone knows no team is truly invincible.

This project aims to look and see how certain mons that work together to exploit said weakness, in other words a core that can break/destroy a team. This can help fine tune teams in order to prevent them from getting destroyed by a simple core. Anyway without further ado, here are the rules.

Rules:
1. Each week I will pick a team and during the submission period, everyone can talk about what cores they think breaks a team and submit a core that they think is the most threatening to that team. In other words, what core they think destroys the selected team and why?

2. Cores can have 2 mons, and sets as well as at least 2 lines of explanation will be required as to how that core destroys the team for that week. You can also talk about the weaknesses of the team being broken if you wish. In addition, all Pokemon nominated must be on the viability list or have "extremely" well known niches. Also no Shedinja thanks.

3. After the submission period has passed, everyone will vote on the core that they believe is the most threatening to the team. Each person will be allowed 1 vote. You can also use the voting period to submit ideas on a team you would like to see broken next. You cannot vote for yourself.

4. The winner of each round will be placed in the Hall of Fame!!

5. Good luck, have fun, and most importantly no one liners. n_n

6. If you don't post movesets your nomination will not be counted!

I built this team a bit back wanting to try something new with stall and have some fun, which I managed. I would classify the team as pressure stall as Moltres and Articuno both have Pressure + Defog to beat rockers, while Pyukumuku has Spite to deal with CurseLax and SD Toxicroak. Molters was my first addition as it beats many pokemon that threaten stall, such as SD Pangoro, SD Bewear, SD M-Abomasnow, SubSD Decidueye and also Defogs on M-Steelix and Chesnaught. Articuno was my next addition as it can Defog on Registeel, Bronzing, Nidoqueen, Roserade etc. while also beating Honchkrow (outspeeds) and many bulky waters with Freeze Dry. Glitter was then added (s/o to HypnoEmpire for recommendation) to be able to Defog on Diancie, Gigalith and more reliably defog on M-Steelix, Acrobatics is a unconventional choice but I use it to be able to deal with Stone Edge Virizion, the speed eve combined with Knock Off allows Gligar to outspeed and has a chance to KO after rocks (if it doesn’t Moltres or Articuno can switch in and finish the job). Pyukumuku stops many of the set-up sweepers that annoy stall and can also help with the Pressure stall using Spite. Umbreon and Register were to very classic additions with the only minor change being that I use 29 spe is on Umbreon to under-speed 10iv M-Banette to be able to Ohko with Foul Play without dying to Destiny Bond on turn 2.

Nominations will end Monday 11th at 7:30pm GMT +1. 2 mon cores will be allowed, have fun!

This team has a couple x4 rock weak Pokemon, so I figured it would be a good idea to use a Stealth Rock setter that can beat all of the Defoggers and a breaker that gets checked by one of the Pokemon that are x4 rock weak. I decided on Band Bewear + Ice Punch Rhyperior.

bewear.png

Bewear @ Choice Band
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Superpower
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

rhyperior.png

Rhyperior @ Icium Z
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 244 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Ice Punch

The team already has a hard time dealing with Banded Bewear since it 2HKOes everything on the team with its STABs, but since Moltres can actually tank a hit while outspeeding and threatening it out, having Stealth Rock up puts a lot less pressure on Bewear to break the team. Rhyperior OHKOes Moltres and Articuno with Rock Blast and OHKOes Gligar with Subzero Slammer (2HKOes with Ice Punch), which are the only Pokemon that can remove hazards on the team. With rocks up, Bewear can KO Moltres if it tries to switch in and it heavily threatens the rest of the team with its high power attacks. If your opponent predicts well (like going Registeel on Return or hard switching Moltres into a Superpower) and manages to Defog, Rhyperior can just come back in either immediately or later on to get them up again and repeat the process.
16+ Atk Rhyperior Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 248 HP / 164 Def Moltres: 444-540 (115.9 - 140.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

16+ Atk Rhyperior Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 248 HP / 116 Def Articuno: 432-516 (112.7 - 134.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

16+ Atk Rhyperior Subzero Slammer (140 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gligar: 384-456 (115.3 - 136.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
16+ Atk Rhyperior Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gligar: 208-248 (62.4 - 74.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Return vs. 248 HP / 164 Def Moltres: 246-289 (64.2 - 75.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Return vs. 248 HP / 116 Def Articuno: 237-280 (61.8 - 73.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Return vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gligar: 171-202 (51.3 - 60.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Ice Punch vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gligar: 340-400 (102.1 - 120.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Return vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Pyukumuku: 160-189 (50.9 - 60.1%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Pyukumuku: 187-222 (59.5 - 70.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Return vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 246-289 (62.4 - 73.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 576-680 (146.1 - 172.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ Atk Choice Band Bewear Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Registeel: 440-518 (120.8 - 142.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Araquanid @ Mystic Water
Ability: Water Bubble
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Spider Web
- Liquidation
- Rest
- Toxic

Necrozma @ Twisted Spoon
Ability: Prism Armor
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Power Gem
- Heat Wave
- Psychic / Photon Geyser

Follows the same principle behind HypnoEmpire post, having a SR user that can directly beat one of the defoggers that doubles as something that checks a pokemon that otherwise rolls through the team. This time it is about SR Necrozma + Trapper Araquanid. SR Necrozma is extremely good and pressuring virtually every hazard setter and with access to Power Gem it can destroy Articuno which will otherwise beat it. From there Trapper Araquanid becomes virtually unstoppable since it easily 1v1s pyukumuku, Registeel cant hope to beat it and Gligar despite having acrobatics cant switch into it and loses to Necrozma thanks to twisted spoon pushing the KO with psychic / photon geyser.

Virizion @ Grassium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat

Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Rock Slide

Kinda the same as above but with Rock Slide Nidoqueen. Rock Slide Nidoqueen beats all the deffogers on the team, setting stealth rocks with ease. With Rock Slide, the safer Nidoqueen switch in on the team is umbreon which lacks toxic, giving SD virizion a free switch in to set Swords Dance. Since it's SpD gligar, virizion has a high chance to 1hko it at +2 with its z move after rocks. Virizion has fighting coverage for registeel and umbreon and stone edge for both moltres and articuno, giving the team a hard time.

+2 252 Atk Virizion Bloom Doom (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Gligar: 285-336 (85.3 - 100.5%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Virizion Leaf Blade vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Pyukumuku: 138-164 (43.9 - 52.2%) -- 76.6% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Virizion Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 114 Def Moltres: 332-392 (86.6 - 102.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252 Atk Virizion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Registeel: 426-504 (117 - 138.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Virizion Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Umbreon: 560-660 (142.1 - 167.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
