Hello! This thread serves to be a place for successful RU teams intended to help new players get acclimated to the metagame and different playstyles. The subtle differences in each tier can make RU seem overwhelming, even to seasoned veterans of other tiers. Here, you can post your own team for archiving for new RU players to use.

Posting Guidelines
  • Give a short explanation of the role that each member of your team plays, and how the team works.
  • Provide an importable.
  • You must have some experience with your team before posting. Don’t post a team you just made on the team builder and thought looked good. Providing replays is a good way to prove that you have used your team a fair bit and that it’s viable; it will also give us an idea of how to play with the team.
  • Your team must represent the current metagame.
  • You must PM me, eren, and MrAldo with the above criteria for approval.
  • You may NOT POST without approval, or it will be deleted.

Simple Offense team build around DD Z-Kommo-o and SD Feraligatr supported by spikes.

DD Kommo-o is soundproof to be a check to swellow and a check to opposing special kommo-o. EQ as coverage was chosen to be able to hit Doublade. Jolly SD Feraligatr is a nice Wallbreaker that can pave a very broad way for DD kommo-o to sweep. Jolly was choosen over adamant since it outspeeds necrozma and Ohko it at +2. Aqua jet gives it nice priority that can pressure certain scarfers and naturally fast mons like salazzle. Yes jolly means Quagsire is harder to break but it only needs 1 spike and about 5% chip which isn’t hard to get. But since spikes were needed The best Spiker RU has was added, Mega-Glalie. Aside from spikes Glalie provides the team with some strong utility in ice shard that can function as a solid emergency button to threats like Flygon, Zydog, and Swellow. Explosion is a move that can 1) prevent the hazards from being removed 2) Drop an icy Nuke on a big wall like p2/milo/Umbreon and Cress. Nidoqueen was added to provide Rocks while being one of the best offensive rockers. Toxic to cripple and pressure annoying walls like p2/umbreon and Cress. Shuca berry gives provides a solid lure to opposing nidoqueens or flygons which comes in handy in neutralizing such threats. Scarf Shaymin provides the team with a solid bulky water check and the ability to RK big threats like HC/Banded Durant and Salazzle. Doublade Was added as Spinblocker, Psychic, Fairy, Linoone, Snorlax, secundairy Swellow check and much more but mostly those mentioned.

Trick room!!

This Trick room team is build around the formula of 1 dedicated rocker and Room-Setter, 1 mon that can set TR multiple times and check certain threats, 1 Trick room setter that can abuse it itself, 2 trick room-abusers, 1 mon that functions as speed control outside of trick room.

The star of the team is NP Aromatisse with Z moonblast. It is an excellent trick room setter and abuser and can pivot in all fighting and dark types with relative ease that threaten the dedicated rocker, Bronzong, and multiple times-setter, Porygon2. Bronzong runs psywave to weaken all steel types as much as he can, mainly registeel and Mega steelix. P2 runs foul play since it’s the teams main answer to threats like SD Doublade, Feraligatr or other physical set up threats.

Because Aromatisseis the star of the show I needed 2 abusers that can break as much as possible in the least amount of turns to all possible fairy checks. I came with Mega Camerupt and FO Machamp. M-Rupt provides with toxic a lure to haze milotic which can be annoying. Machamp gives the team a small form of priority with bullet punch.

Finally Scarf Shaymin is the Speed control of the tier. When no checks are left, Shaymin can hax its way to victory on its own with Seed flare. It’s also the Revenge killer of a grown out of hand Salazzle with earth power and can bring back to live one of the Trick room abusers or Aromatisse itself Via Healing Wish.

This is a bulky offense squadron consisting of taunt roost noivern which is a crazy good set atm in conjunction with nasty plot salazzle, win con that is always reliable. Mega Blastoise is a blessing to have offering a powerful offensive tank that provides reliable hazard control for the team so noivern and salazzle arent so worn down by hazards. Scarf Shaymin still a reliable scarfer since it can revenge kill the necessary things and offers healing wish support which blastoise appreciates. Bronzong is rather meh but it is a necessary evil here since cant use mega steelix but despite its issues it still offers excellent resistances that the team really appreciates. Last slot is for choice band bewear that also a good cushion against physical attackers and it can trade with pretty much all of them thanks to flufly. Thanks to eifo to bringing this boy back up on VR discussion.

Here was some cool balance consisting of your standard core of mandi + milotic + mega steelix which are an extremely reliable defensive cushion that handles a huge portion of the tier that helps supporting SD Virizion and Specs Dragalge that are the main sources of offensive power since both are extremely reliable mons for that atm. SD Virizion manages to setup against a huge portion of the tier and Specs Dragalge punishes many teams that uses shaky dragon resists since it has poison type coverage for fairies and its Dracos hit extremely hard. The speed on the dragalge is for p2 and max speed mega abomasnow. Last slot we have scarf gardevoir which revenge kills salazzle, swellow, and DD Gatr is Milotic ever dies. Watch out for Salazzle and DD Flygon.

Will not put teams with Durant teams until suspect is over (if it survives that is).

Pretty standard balance squad with Swellow + Breaker. Set up a Swellow sweep by breaking Umbreon/P2/Rhyperior/Diancie with Hoopa or just claim a kill when Hoopa comes in. Milotic is to not lose to Gatr/Cloyster, Gardevoir is an attempt at not losing to Sun, Rotom-Mow is our Defogger and another way to bring in Hoopa, Rhyperior is our check to Salazzle/Swellow. Milotic switches into Queen once, otherwise you have to keep it out with offensive pressure or pivot into Hoopa. Have fun.

My attempt at a bulky offense squad, featuring Specs Goodra. Slowking is our Salazzle/Queen Switch-in/Check, and overall just beats most special attackers. Mandibuzz is our defogger, albeit I kinda hate Defog Mandibuzz and if I could rework this team it'd be Taunt/Toxic with a lot more speed. Specs Goodra is a pretty standard set and just aims to dish out some damage for our Salazzle/Roserade to sweep. Standard Lazzle/Steelix. Roserade is the usual wincon if they have something faster than Lazzle, its also our only check for DD gatr so the team is a *little* weak to it. Enjoy.

Another standard balance squad, basic concept is using Machamp to clear a way for a DD Flygon sweep. Spdef Gligar is the Lazzle check, Bronzong is our Swellow/Ice resist/Queen check, Milotic checks Gatr. Moltres can clean late game, or revenge anything outside of DD Flygon that hasn't used its Z-Crystal.

This team might look odd on team preview, as Audino and Articuno aren't that common. However they have important niches that help this team function, Articuno provides this team a way to guarantee rocks stay off the field vs. teams with Nidoqueen, Registeel or Bronzong as their rockers. While Mandibuzz Defogs vs. M-Steelix and non power gem Necrozma. This Mandibuzz spread also counters Virizion as it tanks a +2 Stone Edge after rocks and ohkoes with Brave Bird. Mega-Audino serves as my teams WishPasser and cleric while also being able to counter Hoopa with Knock Off as it does 62-74%. Pyukumuku is the standard set to ounter set-up sweepers and is chosen over Quagsire as it is a more reliable check to SD Gatr. Registeel is the standard set and also allows my team to fare better against Vanilluxe than if it were M-Steelix. Cresselia helps against Rockium-Z Virizion and other fighting types such as Pangoro and Bewear.

+2 252 Atk Virizion Stone Edge vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Mandibuzz: 238-280 (56.2 - 66.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Mandibuzz Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 472-564 (146.1 - 174.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+2 248 SpA Hoopa All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Audino-Mega: 281-331 (68.5 - 80.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
+2 248 SpA Hoopa Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Audino-Mega: 177-209 (43.1 - 50.9%) -- 97.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock

4 Atk Audino-Mega Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa: 188-224 (62.4 - 74.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ru-694226202 vs. Rhyperior, a hard matchup as it can get rocks vs. both Mandibuzz and Articuno. As eifo did in this matchup lead with Cresselia and toxic it for chip damage.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ru-694130098 hard stall matchup as opposing team had both meloetta and araq. Eventually Registeel came through but very close game.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ru-694488495 in this replay Articuno is seen completely walling the opposing Registeel and making sure there are no entry hazards on my side. Freezes are actually worse as that allows the opponent not to spend any pp on turns where s/he is frozen.

https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7ru-692950661 vs. stall, the opponent played badly however

When facing Volt Switchers or U-Turners, stay normal Audino for as long as possible as it can switch in and then regen back the lost health by switching out again.

Enjoy this really annoying and brain dead HO screens team that I got #6 on the ladder with (not that thats incredibly impressive, ladder is bad). Not much to explain: Weaken what you need to weaken for one of your other sweepers to sweep with another sweeper. Enjoy. Cress can sub on regi, you can swap moonblast for HP fire if you're running into a lot of Escav teams that cress would otherwise 6-0, but weakening escav and getting up screens is usually enough to sweep with linoone. Mean Look + Yawn I stole from -Tsunami- , screens core stolen from Gatorboy. Use mean look + yawn to punish rapid spin, Yawn to discourage defogs on incoming mons.

One form of Ninetales Offense that I have been enjoying quite a bit. Ninetales is an extremely potent wallbreaker thanks to Drought boosting its fire type attacks and Nasty Plot sending its mediocre SpA into really dangerous levels. Hypnosis is honestly a filler over the couple of options it can run on that slot (hidden power ice, substitute, will-o-wisp, etc) but putting your usual switch-ins to sleep can be pretty handy especially for the rest of the team. AV Slowking is essential for the team cause Drought can backfire pretty badly if you ever face a Salazzle so it covers every Salazzle variant better while offering a good sponge against a myriad of Special threats and phazing compared to Snorlax. No Scald may be weird but I preferred running Psychic instead to not have the main STAB being hindered by the time Sun is up.

Rest of the build is rather standard except for one little friend. Rotom-Cut + Steelix is a solid cushion with Rotom-Cut offering necessary hazard control while Mega Steelix offers SR and a good hard check to tyrantrum which is always a big threat to this type of builds. Rotom-Cut has HP Fire for Mega Abomasnow which can be a massive threat. Sneasel is super niche but it offers a lot to the build in question. Outspeeding Virizion, Espeon is dope and revenge killing opposing Dragon Dance Flygons, Zygarde-10%, Noiverns and stuff has been really handy so the build isnt so hard pressed by those. The weird thing is running Low Kick over Pursuit but quite frankly, I never pressed Pursuit when using this If Im honest... maybe once so I decided to run Low Kick to apply better pressure to Snorlax better. Scarf Flygon complete the volt turn pair with Rotom, does its thing and revenge killing a good couple of important things. and has Aerial Ace for Virizion. Have fun.

Snorlax is a big threat so apply pressure through Phazing, your own curse Mega Steelix and knocking its item/hitting it with Low Kick.

Another Zydog team! But this time it is the main centric point of the build. I have always wanted to do an efficient Zydog + Spikes team and I think I nailed it since this has provided some satisfactory results. Banded Zydog is perhaps the most straightforward mon in this tier. Press Thousand Arrows like 75% of the time. Outrage and Extremespeed the rest. Superpower for the sporadic porygon2 and Umbreon but still better than Toxic imo. Escavalier is a fantastic partner, the synergy between the 2 is pretty outstanding since both pressure the heck out of Gligar with the 2 having choice band, Escavalier pursuits trap or removes Cress and Zygarde-10% revenge kills faster stuff that Escav cant do due to its unfortunate speed stat. 2 Choice Band users may seem limiting but when 2 press their stab moves with hardly any drawbacks you wont really notice.

Roserade + Gligar are the hazard setters of choice since they make for a fine couple in this regard. Roserade makes for a really effective user of Spikes thanks to its insane wallbreaking power with Grassium that pressure most hazard setters and removers bar Mandibuzz, and Gligar offers really important pivoting support to the team so they have an easier time switching around. Spdef Gligar checks a good amount of things since you can use it pivot into Yanmega, Salazzle and what not. Porygon2 acts as the defensive glue of the team to handle a couple of important threats. The Phys Def nature allows p2 to handle DD Gatr pretty well and acts as a solid cushion against Scarf Tyrantrum and some physical scarfers. TBolt is essential for Gatr and it means Salazzle doesnt setup on you for free since you always 3hko it. Last Scarf Gardevoir cause it is the best scarfer I believe, revenge kills and checks a lot of things, loves the Escavalier support and it is cute.

Weaknesses... mmm, Mandibuzz is a considerable so Escavalier, Garde, and Zydog need to apply pressure here. It cant have enough mixed bulk to handle all of them at once.

Cheers!

Two versions of a semi-stall team I had a lot of fun/success with on ladder. The way the team works is attempting to win by consistently putting up hazards and pressuring with Noivern. This team was made at the height of Milotic's popularity with the goal of capitalizing on that with an uncommon rose set that has some longevity and can set spikes throughout a battle. At the time I thought snorlax was sort of underrated for how well it could wall most special attackers. The second version of the team I actually like a lot more which I made after seeing col49 's milotic set. I liked using Noivern a lot, here the set is fly-Z but it can be done with a bunch of different sets such as 49's defensive set. These teams can be played around with in ev spreads and movesets so I just have the standards here.

I'm back.
Ninetales Bulky Offense:

This is a team I've been playing around with recently, the idea is that Ninetales and Shaymin form a formidable offensive core, with Ninetales easily breaking down Steel-Types and defensive cores in general due to Drought allowing it throw out Solar Beam against Water and Rock-Types, thus allowing LO Shaymin to clean late game. Ninetales has HP Rock because I wanted an accurate move to hit Moltres and not use the Z-move, and is also helpful against Rotom-Heat (I know Drought boosted Fire Blast does more but again, it's accurate and does consistent damage to Rotom-Heat even without sun), HP Ice is also an option for opposing Gligar, or really any filler move you need. Shaymin has Air Slash for opposing Shaymin and Grass-Types in general, HP Fire and Synthesis are both boosted by the sun, HP Fire dealing more damage to switch-ins like Bronzong, while Synthesis will heal more. HP Rock is also an option to lure Moltres, in which case you should run a different move on Ninetales instead of HP Rock. I added Gligar as a form of hazard control, it's sp def to allow it take hits from Rotom-Heat and Scarf Roserade which can both give the team problems. Scarf Tyrantrum is my speed control and can pivot into Salazzle which would otherwise be annoying to deal with especially with sun up, Milotic was added to deal with Feraligatr since Tyrantrum can't revenge DD variants, Refresh instead of Toxic so that I can pivot into Bronzong and attempt to a get a burn safely. Finally, Rhyperior was added as a rocker, while also checking other threats such as Specs Swellow. Overall Ninetales was a fun mon to build around, I thought that Salazzle might actually overshadow it but it has a lot of positive traits over it, it just needs proper team support, like making sure an opposing Salazzle dosen't get out of hand using your own sun against you, hence the 3 Fire-Resists I put.
