Not a hard check or counter as Zen Headbutt is a definite 2HKO after rocks. Your Calc for Zen Headbutt needs 252 Atk on M-Meta btw.Rotom-H as hard check/Counter
Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 232 HP / 252 Def / 24 SpA
- Overheat
- Will-O-Wisp/Rest
- Pain Split/Sleep Talk
- Volt Switch
By virtue of its typing and ability, rotom-h can easily switch into any of megagross's moves and tank them with ease even after SR. Wisp is slashed with rest because rest allows it to act as a sponge for status and allows consistent check to birdspam. Given eves ensure high damage output with overheat on megagross and also prevent any 3hkos after rocks
CALCS SON
252 Atk Metagross Hammer Arm vs. 232 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-H: 81-96 (27 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
52 Atk Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 232 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-H: 97-115 (32.4 - 38.4%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 Atk Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 232 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-H: 97-115 (32.4 - 38.4%) -- 98.2% chance to 3HKO
252 Atk Metagross Hammer Arm vs. 232 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-H: 81-96 (27 - 32.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO
In this case, Rotom-W works too oONot a hard check or counter as Zen Headbutt is a definite 2HKO and rocks do not help Rotom-H at all. Your Calc for Zen Headbutt needs 252 Atk on M-Meta btw.
tl;dr: hard check / counter --> check
:]
Nah, Rotom-W is 2HKOed by Zen Headbutt after Rocks the majority of the time.In this case, Rotom-W works too oO
Just to add to this, you forgot to add Tough Claws to the calcs. Here's the Zen Headbutt calc:Not a hard check or counter as Zen Headbutt is a definite 2HKO and rocks do not help Rotom-H at all. Your Calc for Zen Headbutt needs 252 Atk on M-Meta btw.

Rotom-H can be a check because of Overheat. Rotom-W gets a little iffy since it WILL need to use Rest or Pain Split in a 1 v 1 situation with Mega Metagross simply because Hydro Pump doesn't hit hard enough. I don't want to say that Rotom-W can't be a check, but it's a pretty long best-case scenario if it can check it, and I don't feel like writing out myself.Yeah, i was just pointed if Rotom-H is a check, Rotom-W is a check. But they are not Check.
just like to mention that if Skarm is hit by hammer arm after roost its a guaranteed 2HKOTaking that young Skarmory
Hard Check
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Stealth Rock
Skarmory can easily eat up any of Mega Metagross' hits, taking less than 25% from anything. The only problem with this is, Skarmory can't really do to much back. It basically has to either spam Brave Bird and hope that Meteor Mash doesn't raise its Attack, or Whirlwind it out constantly, gathering up Stealth Rocks damage. Rocky Helmet is extremely helpful for wearing Metagross down.
252 Atk Tough Claws Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 63-75 (18.8 - 22.4%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
Replace whirlwind with Counter and Skarmory becomes a counter =]Taking that young Skarmory
