Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Roost
- Defog / Toxic
- Heat Wave / Toxic

Zapdos resists all of Pinsir's moves and can OHKO back with Thunderbolt. It can also heal up with Roost if necessary.

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 248 HP / 176+ Def Zapdos: 106-126 (27.6 - 32.8%) -- 83.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 176+ Def Zapdos: 64-75 (16.7 - 19.5%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
68 SpA Zapdos Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 272-324 (100.3 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Spikes
- Brave Bird / Counter
- Whirlwind

Pretty much Pinsir's worst nightmare and the reason PinMag is a core in the first place lol. Skarm's been the premiere physical wall of OU and boasts a useful resistance to flying, which frustrates Pinsir immensely. Pinsir's weakness to flying itself is another issue, as phys. def. Skarms commonly run Brave Bird, which gives Skarm a punishing way of directly dealing with it.

Oh yeah, this would be a counter.

Tyranids Scarf Edition

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- Crunch

Scarf Tar out speeds and OHKO's with Stone Edge. Missing is always a risk tho. It resists quick attack and finds it very yummy. Can't switch-in due to Close Combat.

+2 252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 1092-1288 (320.2 - 377.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace
- Aqua Tail
- Roost

Mega Aerodactyl serves to be a offensive check to Mega Pinsir and Birdspam in general. It is able to outspeed Pinsir and OHKO it with Stone Edge while being able to survive a +2 Quick Attack, even after Stealth Rock damage. After Pinsir is defeated, it can Roost off any damage it might have taken. Sadly, it's only a check because with Stealth Rock up, it can't switch in to Return and survive a Quick Attack the following turn.
252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Aerodactyl: 141-166 (46.8 - 55.1%) -- 69.5% chance to 2HKO
+2 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Aerodactyl: 110-130 (36.5 - 43.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 Atk Mega Aerodactyl Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 576-676 (212.5 - 249.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-o-Wisp
- Pain Split

Role: Check

Rotom-W can always survive a +2 hit if rocks are up and can either burn Pinsir with Will-o-Wisp or do heavy damage with Volt Switch. It's nearly a hard counter to the EQ variant, but still takes a good chunk of damage from a boosted Return.

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 84-100 (27.7 - 33%) -- 89.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 169-200 (55.7 - 66%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 102-121 (33.6 - 39.9%) -- 34.1% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Rotom-W: 204-241 (67.3 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Earthquake calc not included for obvious reasons

0 SpA Rotom-W Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 170-204 (62.7 - 75.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 SpA Rotom-W Volt Switch vs. -1 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 258-306 (95.2 - 112.9%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO (this is after a Close Combat)
0 SpA Rotom-W Hydro Pump vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 135-160 (49.8 - 59%) -- 99.6% chance to 2HKO

Terrakion as a check

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Rock Slide
- Quick Attack

Terrakion outspeeds Mega Pinsir and (obviously) beats it with a rock move and due to Terrakion's rock type, it means that it is a fighting type not weak to Quick Attack, surviving it when Swords Dance boosted.

Check

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

If Pinsir hasn't set up yet, Landorus' ability allows it to switch in on any of Pinsir's moves and OHKO with Stone Edge.

If Pinsir decides to switch out, Landorus can use this opportunity to set up rocks, weakening it for something else to take care of it.

Offensive:
0 Atk Landorus-T U-turn vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 30-35 (11 - 12.9%) -- possible 8HKO
0 Atk Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 340-400 (125.4 - 147.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Defensive:

+1 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 289-342 (75.6 - 89.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+3 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 481-567 (125.9 - 148.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

+1 252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 87-102 (22.7 - 26.7%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
+3 252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 144-170 (37.6 - 44.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Mega Diancie as a check.

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 8 Atk / 248 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Protect
- Diamond Storm
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power Fire

Diancie is a good offensive check to Pinsir, being able to outspeed it and OHKO it easily with Diamond Storm. If Pinsir hasn't boosted up yet, it can even take a Close Combat + Quick Attack, provided Rocks aren't on the field, meaning if at full, Diancie even has the ability to switch into Pinsir if you really want it to, although lack of recovery means it can be brought down and eventually picked off if it gets too worn down (although you really should be saving it for late game where it can revenge a +2 Pinsir with ease). Not to mention Adamant EQ OHKO's Diancie while Jolly EQ has a 75% chance to do so, making Diancie only a check to Pinsir, although still a very good one overall.

252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 125-147 (51.8 - 60.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 151-178 (62.6 - 73.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 49-58 (20.3 - 24%) -- guaranteed 5HKO (+2 QA does 41-48%)

252+ Atk Mega Pinsir Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 252-298 (104.5 - 123.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

8 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 556-660 (205.1 - 243.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Counter: Hippowdon

Hippowdon @ Leftovers/Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Stone Edge

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 252 HP / 144+ Def Hippowdon: 174-205 (41.4 - 48.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Hippowdon Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 272-320 (100.3 - 118%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Nothing to say bar that Hippowdon is cleanly 3HKOed by Mega Pinsir (even without the aid of Leftovers). In return, Hippowdon OHKOes this Mega is Stone Edge hits the target.
This means you can set the Sand up in front of Pinsir if you really need it.

Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot

Thundurus is a relatively hard check to Mega Pinsir. On the upside, it resists it's STAB and most common coverage move Close Combat. It does, however, have rather low bulk which limits it's availability as a switch-in. Nevertheless, it can always function as an offensive check due to it's greater speed, considering if it's healthy enough to take a Quick Attack and an emergency switch-in.

Mega Manectric as a Check

Manectric @ Manectite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power Ice

With the Electric Typing, Mega Manectric resists Pinsirs main attacks in Return and Quick Attack. It also has Intimidate which lets it take Pinsir hits even better, making it actually a little bit physically bulky. It also outspeeds Mega Pinsir, and can OHKO it with Thunderbolt all the time, or Volt Switch after a bit of prior damage. Because of Volt Switch you can grab momentum, and proceed to get up SRs e.g., which, obviously, gives Pinsir a very hard time to shine. Because of the Typing, Speed, Power and Ability, Manectric is probably the best offensive check to Mega Pinsir. I wouldn't consider it to be a Counter, because it lacks a Recovery move, and it's easy to wear down, but it is definitely a great check to it.
252 SpA Mega Manectric Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 332-392 (122.5 - 144.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

-1 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Manectric: 99-117 (35.2 - 41.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

-1 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Manectric: 39-46 (13.8 - 16.3%) -- possible 7HKO

just about every good check was taken ok

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
- Overheat / Fire Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power / Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stone Edge / Ancient Power

Status: Check

When Heatran decides to sport a Choice Scarf, it can outspeed and OHKO Pinsir with either Overheat, Fire Blast, or Ancient Power. It also resists Pinsir's Flying STAB attacks, meaning it cannot be revenge killed by Quick Attack... for the most part. However, Heatran has trouble switching in due to Close Combat or Earthquake, and this is especially apparent when Pinsir's at +2, where it's 2HKO'd by Return and able to be revenge killed by Quick Attack.

252 SpA Heatran Overheat vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 464-548 (171.2 - 202.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Heatran Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 392-464 (144.6 - 171.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Heatran Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 288-340 (106.2 - 125.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

CHECK: Mega Metagross

M-Metagross can take any hit from Mega Pinsir even a +2 Close Combat. Metagross can take one Earthquake but it cannot take a +2 EQ (who runs eq on mega pinsir nowadays anyways.) Metagross can 2 hit ko mega pinsir with Zen Headbutt, Meteor Mash, Ice Punch and Thunder Punch.

252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 178-210 (65.6 - 77.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 198-234 (73 - 86.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (T-Punch does the exact same.)

252+ Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Metagross: 115-136 (38.2 - 45.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252+ Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Metagross: 95-112 (31.5 - 37.2%) -- 85.7% chance to 3HKO

252+ Atk Mega Pinsir Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Metagross: 192-226 (63.7 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Had to dig deep for this one.

The best Primal Groudon counter there is:

Solrock

Solrock @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 224 HP / 32 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Rock Slide
- Morning Sun
- Will-O-Wisp
- Baton Pass / Trick room

Solrock can switch in on anything and OHKOs with rock slide or burns. Close combat does 83% at +2, so there is no fear of hard switching. Until pinsir runs bug STAB, this walls it.

(Skarmory was taken...what do you want from me?)

Infernal

Banned deucer.

Rhyperior @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 212 HP / 44 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Fire Punch / Ice Punch

+0 CC vs. Rhyperior: 34.6 - 41%
+2 CC vs. Rhyperior: 69.3 - 81.6%
+0 Return vs. Rhyperior: 19.1 - 22.6%
+2 Return vs. Rhyperior: 38.2 - 45.2%

Rhyperior is definitely an uncommon Pokemon with competition from other things like Lando-T and Tar. However, it's able to check Mega Pinsir rather well and switch into the big guy more safely than them. As the calcs above demonstrate, Rhyperior can directly come in on any move Mega Pinsir can use, even stomaching a boosted CC. After switching in, Rhyperior can then threaten to cleanly KO with Stone Edge. Rhyperior can also lay down SR to discourage Mega Pinsir from switching in repeatedly to apply offensive pressure on the opposing team. Aside from checking Mega Pinsir, Rhyperior maintains other uses in OU by being able to check other notable threats like Talonflame, Charizard-X, and Mega Manectric. Although Rhyperior can tank Mega Pinsir's attacks quite comfortably, I am classifying this submission as a hard check because it's prone to being worn down due to a lack of reliable recovery.

BIG G CHOPPA

Banned deucer.

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Pursuit

While Weavile is indeed frail, it cannot switch in on Mega Pinsir. But can at least revenge kill it assuming its not at +2. Icicle Crash cleanly KO's Mega Pinsir, while Ice Shard 2 hit KO's and can KO Mega Pinsir with rocks up. But you can bring this in safely by means of u turn /volt switch or on a double. Also can pursuit trap it, with rocks up it KO's as it switches out. It is a check to Mega Pinsir. Based on the calcs below neither of them can really switch in on each other but Weavile at least has the faster prio so that it manages to outprioritize Quick Attack and potentially knock out Mega Pinsir before it gets killed.

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 136-162 (48.3 - 57.6%) -- 94.1% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 336-396 (123.9 - 146.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 158-188 (58.3 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Pursuit vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 159-187 (58.6 - 69%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
(80 BP btw, assuming it switches out)
252 Atk Choice Band Weavile Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 129-153 (47.6 - 56.4%) -- 82.4% chance to 2HKO

Scarf Tyrantrum as a check

Tyrantrum @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Superpower

Scarf Tyrantrum is a hard check to Pinsir. Thanks to its rock typing, it resists quick attack and can easily head smash it to oblivion.

252 Atk Tyrantrum Head Smash vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 796-940 (293.7 - 346.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyrantrum: 256-302 (83.9 - 99%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Raikou @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

252 SpA Raikou Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 296-350 (109.2 - 129.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raikou: 61-72 (19 - 22.4%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Mega Pinsir Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raikou: 188-222 (58.5 - 69.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raikou: 156-184 (48.5 - 57.3%) -- 46.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Would not recommend doing this more than once, but Raikou can work as a check. Worst case scenario is CC into QA, which can KO after a little prior damage, though you're still safe if only SR is up.

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Thunderbolt
Magnezone can't switch in on CC ever but can come in on returns or revenge it by outspeeding with scarf. Takes zero from quick attack due to 4x resist, takes 6% from SR so a little harder to wear down ect ect
252 SpA Magnezone Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Pinsir: 320-380 (118 - 140.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Magnezone: 109-129 (38.7 - 45.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Scarf Bisharp as a check:

Bisharp @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit

252 Atk Bisharp Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Pinsir: 360-428 (132.8 - 157.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Quick Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Bisharp: 192-227 (70.8 - 83.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I think scarf Bisharp works kind of cool as check because they are no going to switch out as they probably predict that Life orb and so they would CC or try and win the 50/50 with sucker and quick attack. also bisharp allow you to play kind off care less as you like +6 quick attack which is also nice.

Mandibuzz as Check

Mandibuzz (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Defog
- Taunt

I hate this Pokémon because of how fat it is, but this makes it a great check to Pinsir, even once it has set up, thanks to its ability to sponge a hit as well as retaliate with Foul Play. Before Swords Dancing, Mandibuzz is more than capable of Roosting off any hits M-Pinsir throws at it, as well as acting as a great deterrent to it setting up thanks to FP, which always 2HKOs before an SD. Due to Mandibuzz needing to be at full health to check Pinsir + 2, it cannot be constituted as a counter, but just as a solid answer for defensive teams.

252 Atk Aerilate Mega Pinsir Return vs. 240 HP / 216+ Def Mandibuzz: 178-210 (42.2 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

I don't think weavile is a good check to mega pinsir. I mean +2 QA has a good chance of killing Weavile. I don't mean to hate or disgrace to the person who picked weavile, I just don't think its a good check. But, we all have our opinions. :]
