Project Victim of the Week

Nah, that's a counter

Offensive MZor always needs a free turn to set up to +2, and, unless you have something locked into a random Outrage, your defensive Zor can switch in on said Swords Dance and hit it with a powerful Roost, thus forcing the offensive Zor to win a sequence of 50/50s with SD/Sueprpower vs Roost/Knock Off to have a chance of coming out on top. And even if it manages to do that, it will take some hefty damage due to defense drops, and it will be revenged by just about anything that outspeeds and isn't weak to Steel

...although now that I think of it, this chance may very well make this a very hard, but nevertheless a check. Forget I said anything XD

I'll still edit to "hard check" then. Thanks a lot!

Heatran as an Counter/Extremely Hard Check:

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 12 HP / 252 SpA / 244 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast/Flamethrower
- Flash Cannon
- Taunt/Earth Power/Toxic
- Stealth Rock/Earth Power

Heatran 4x resists Sylveon's STAB Hyper Voice, 2x resists Psyshock, eats up HP Fire (literally), takes Shadow Balls with ease and soars above any HP Ground. It can retaliate by 2HKOing Sylveon with Flash Cannon.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Shadow Ball vs. 12 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 122-144 (37.4 - 44.1%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 12 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 66-78 (20.2 - 23.9%) -- 65.8% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Psyshock vs. 12 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 61-72 (18.7 - 22%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO after Stealth Rock
Sylveon Hidden Power Fire vs. Flash Fire Heatran: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- aim for the spaceship next time
Sylveon Hidden Power Ground vs. Air Balloon Heatran: 0-0 (0 - 0%) -- aim for the spaceship next time

252 SpA Heatran Flash Cannon vs. 244 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon: 210-248 (53.5 - 63.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The reason Extremely Hard Check was slashed with Counter, is that Sylveon has an extremely slim chance of 2HKOing out Heatran with Shadow Ball after Stealth Rocks, so Heatran cannot always switch into a Shadow Ball when Rocks are up, if Sylveon gets two max rolls.

Jirachi resists Sylveon's STAB moves and can 2HKO (lets be real its getting flinched so its technically an OHKO but whatever) back with Iron Head. Jirachi takes a decent chunk from Shadow Ball, but it can use Protect to stall for another turn of Leftovers.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off

With this spread, Scizor can come in on anything but Hidden Power Fire, which is a bad move to be locked into to begin with, and either Roost off the damage or try and set up a Swords Dance:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 118-139 (34.4 - 40.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 0+ Def Mega Scizor: 43-51 (12.5 - 14.8%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Shadow Ball vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 108-128 (31.4 - 37.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

Sadly, HP Fire will destroy Mega Scizor (won't waste space on a calc) but it will lock Sylveon into a less than desirable move. On the plus side, if you come in on the right move, you outspeed Sylveon, so you can easily Roost in front of it, making it harder to wear down than other checks.

Normal CB Scizor is a great check to Specs Sylveon, as it is able to switch in on Hyper Voice, Psyshock, HP Ground, Shadow Ball, and even Baton Pass. It is then able to OHKO back with a priority Bullet Pawnch. However, Scizor is prone to an HP Fire, however this gives a teammate a chance to set up, as HP Fire is a poor move to be locked into.

Victini: check

The set doesn't really matter, except that you should have V-Create backed by either max attack or a boosting item to get a 1hko. I think this is the best set to give Victini some ability to switch in multiple times. The speed trolls Jolly Breloom, Bisharp, and Adamant Gyarados, but again do whatever you feel like because even Trick Room Victini is faster than Sylveon.

Victini @ Leftovers
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Taunt / Substitute
- Will-O-Wisp / Zen Headbutt

Watch out for switching in on Shadow Ball, HP Ground, and maybe Baton Pass (Victini gets worn down if it switches in on Stealth Rocks only to see Sylveon baton pass out, and baton pass + pursuit can get ugly)
252+ Atk Victini V-create vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 382-450 (97.6 - 115%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

(87.5% is good enough for me, that's better than having to hit a fire blast or stone edge, plus if Sylveon survives, it will be at 2% so it's worthless)

If you don't want to use an Adamant nature than you can use Flame Plate, Life Orb, or Choice Band. It takes only 192 attack EVs and no nature boost to 1hko a 252 HP / 4 Def Sylveon with a Flame Plate, and it takes even less attack to KO with a stronger item.

Defensively:
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 148 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 140-165 (37 - 43.6%) -- 40.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Shadow Ball vs. 148 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 256-302 (67.7 - 79.8%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Hidden Power Ground vs. 148 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 192-228 (50.7 - 60.3%) -- 88.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Every other move is irrelevent.

I hope nobody does volcarona because I want to do that later in the week

Venusaur@Venusaurite
EV's: 252 HP/252 SpD/4 SpA
Trait: Chlorophyll
Calm Nature
-Sleep Powder
-Synthesis
-Giga Drain
-Sludge Bomb

Mega Venusaur is a very solid check of Specs Sylveon thanks to both it's useful typing and very handy Ability in Thick Fat, cutting the damage taken from Fire and Ice moves in half. Venusaur could force Sylveon out simply by threatening to put it to sleep, but it can be relieved of that fear later on if the Sylveon user uses another mon as sleep fodder. In theory, Venusaur could play the min-max roll game by recovering off damage taken by Psyshock and hoping to 2HKO Sylveon before it gets 2HKO'd. The only move M-Venusaur gives a shit about is Psyshock since it 2HKO's all variants, which is why I opted for a specially based spread so that it could take SB's and HV's a lot better. Overall I think Mega Venusaur is a pretty solid check and here are the obligatory calcs:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Venusaur: 89-105 (24.4 - 28.8%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Stealth Rock

Excadrill @ Assault Vest

EVs: 104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Even though it's not its best set (the more popular sets also work, but this one does an all-around better job at checking Sylveon), Excadrill can switch in to any of Sylveon's moves (including all of its coverage moves!) and OHKO with Iron Head:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 104 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 96-114 (24.8 - 29.4%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Psyshock vs. 104 HP / 0 Def Excadrill: 96-114 (24.8 - 29.4%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Shadow Ball vs. 104 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 88-104 (22.7 - 26.8%) -- 33% chance to 4HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Hidden Power Fire/Ground vs. 104 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Excadrill: 134-158 (34.6 - 40.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
152+ Atk Excadrill Iron Head vs. 240 HP / 0 Def Sylveon: 392-464 (100.2 - 118.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Of course, the EV spread and nature can be tweaked to your team's need, but the suggested ones make Exca a reliable and efficient Sylveon check.

Unless Sylveon predicts the switch and appropriately clicks Psyshock, SpDef Talonflame can switch in and take relatively negligible damage from any other move. Assuming Talonflame is healthy upon switching in, it can use the free turn to grab a boost or burn a potential switch-in. Rocks still put immense pressure on Talonflame as usual, but it is capable of taking a Hyper Voice and roosting off damage as long as it has not taken prior damage in addition to SR.

With the given EV spread, Empoleon can come in safely on any attacking move bar Hidden Power Ground, outspeed and OHKO back with STAB Flash Cannon. Hydro Pump is Empoleon's strongest STAB move and hits neutral targets harder than Flash Cannon. Grass Knot hits Suicune and Keldeo which walls this set while Hidden Power Fire is used to surprise Ferrothorn. However, Ice Beam can be used to defeat Dragon-types easier.

With Zard-ys bulk and fire typing, it can take two hyper voices guaranteed if rocks aren't up. It can then proceed to 2HKO with fire blast in sun.Unfortunately, Zard loses if rocks are up or if it switches in on psyshock it loses as zard can only 2HKO sylv, it also loses if fire blast misses, but that's hax and is not taken into account.

Calcs:
252+ SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 240 HP / 0 SpD Sylveon in Sun: 274-324 (70 - 82.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Pixilate Sylveon Hyper Voice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 123-146 (41.4 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Sylveon Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 156-184 (52.5 - 61.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Zard-Y is a very common sylveon check as well as it is usually paired with latis+TTar, which both hate fairys, and by extension sylveon, so zard-y finds it in the sylv checking role quite commonly.

Klefki comes in easily on any moves Specs Sylveon uses, barring Hidden Power Fire. The cool thing with Klefki is that it supports the team with spikes, especially since it beats the most common OU hazard removers, the Lati@s.
Foul Play allows to hit physical attackers on the switchin, Dazzling Gleam beats 0SpD M-Sableye with the SpA investment, Flash Cannon deals a decent chunk of damage to Sylveon and Diancie amongst others. Torment can be used to troll choice users such as Sylveon. This may be the best option if you're using Klefki mainly as a Sylveon / Gardevoir counter. Heal Block allows to not be cockblocked by every pokemon with recovery in existence, Magnet Rise prevents Lando and Garchomp from killing you, and Prankster

Check

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Toxic
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

It's not an easy task to Counter or Check a Pokemon with a Stab Pixilate Hyper Voice. Doublade however manages to Check Sylveon from a 1vs1 standpoint, because Sylveon's Hyper Voice only 3HKOs and Gyro Ball clean 2KHOs.

The standard set can't really come in however to make this 1vs1 happen. If it comes in, you're forced to Rest, so you only win if you get lucky with Sleep Talk. For this situation you could use a set which wins this scenario (it's not that great but it works at checking Sylveon here):

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 72 HP / 184 Atk / 252 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Iron Head
- Toxic
- Sleep Talk
- Rest

This set allows Doublade to come in on a Hyper Voice and after that Ko the Sylveon with an Iron Head because Hyper Voice has only a 2.3% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Doublade's Iron Head is a guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock.

Be afraid of Shadow Balls or Hidden Powers though. They will murder you.
