Overview
########

Victini is, simply put, a powerhouse. While base 100 Attack might not seem all that impressive, access to a 180 Base Power STAB move in V-create makes Victini insanely difficult to stop; this is backed by an excellent movepool with many coverage and utility options. On top of this, Victini's unique defensive typing lets it serve as a check to many of the tier's top threats, including Mega Gardevoir, Mega Medicham, and Clefable, and access to Taunt and Will-O-Wisp lets it cripple some of its few answers, such as Landorus-T and Hippowdon. Choice Band Victini outright OHKOes or, at the least, 2HKOes almost every Pokemon in the tier; as such, it is ridiculously threatening to defensive teams. Victini does have a few problems, though. Its Psychic typing makes it Pursuit bait, and V-create's stat drops don't help with this. Victini is weak to Stealth Rock and can be checked by various common Water-type Pokemon in the OU tier. In general, Victini has difficulty finding switch-in opportunities due to its many common weaknesses.

Choice Band
########
name: Choice Band
move 1: V-create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: Zen Headbutt / Brick Break
move 4: U-turn
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

V-create is the main selling point of using Victini; it is the literal definition of a nuke, blasting through all but the bulkiest of Pokemon that resist it. For example, it has a 50% chance to OHKO Latios after Stealth Rock damage. Bolt Strike complements V-create well by annihilating Water-types, even 2HKOing Slowbro; it also hits Heatran rather hard. Zen Headbutt is generally preferred in the third moveslot to 2HKO Mega Charizard X, which otherwise counters Victini. However, Brick Break is also an option to OHKO Tyranitar and deal more damage to Heatran. U-turn is preferred in the last moveslot to reduce the need for prediction and pivot out of potentially unfavorable scenarios while also dealing heavy damage to Tyranitar on the switch.

Set Details
========

Max Attack and Speed investment maximize Victini's offensive capabilities. For the same reason, Choice Band is the primary item on the set. Life Orb can be used to switch moves, but with V-create's drops, Victini won't typically have the chance to switch moves anyway. There is also a significant drop in power when using Life Orb over Choice Band that makes Victini much easier to play around. A Jolly nature can be used instead of Adamant to ensure a Speed tie at the least with other base 100s, but the decrease in power generally isn't worth it.

Usage Tips
========

The name of the game with this set is spam V-create and watch something crumble. More prediction comes into play when involving Heatran, Tyranitar, and bulky Water-types, such as Slowbro and Alomomola. These Pokemon can seriously threaten Victini and limit its ability to spam V-create because it runs the risk of losing some serious momentum. In many situations, it can be a good idea to use Bolt Strike on switch-ins of these Pokemon and then double switch out as the opponent goes out to a Pokemon that can tank it. In the presence of Tyranitar, Brick Break can also be a solid option if Victini has it. U-turn is a very safe option in general and can even be preferred to killing something with V-create if keeping up offensive momentum is more important.

Team Options
========

Victini will often be forced out by foes such as Latios, Latias, Terrakion, Landorus-T, Gliscor, Azumarill, Keldeo, Excadrill, and Greninja. It is important to carry Pokemon such as Chesnaught, Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Landorus-T that can come into these when they try to revenge kill. Spikes support from Chesnaught and Ferrothorn also aids Victini in wearing down opposing defensive Pokemon, which, when combined with Victini's U-turn and VoltTurn partners, such as Landorus-T and Mega Manectric, can wear down opposing teams very quickly. Defog or Rapid Spin support is important to get rid of Stealth Rock, which is a massive detriment to Victini's switch-in opportunities. Latias and Reflect Type Starmie are the best choices for this role. Finally, Pokemon to handle setup sweepers such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, Dragonite, and Mega Charizard X that can take advantage of a Choice-locked Victini are vital partners; some options include Hippowdon, Azumarill, and Ferrothorn.

Substitute
########
name: Substitute
move 1: Substitute
move 2: V-create
move 3: Bolt Strike
move 4: Power-Up Punch
item: Leftovers
evs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Substitute is an excellent move on Victini to avoid status such as Toxic and, moreover, punish switch-ins, heavily reducing the prediction needed in using it. V-create is used as an obscenely powerful STAB move even without a boosting item, while Bolt Strike complements it nicely by hitting Water-types and Heatran. The odd move out on this set is Power-Up Punch, which is mediocre at best on almost every single other Pokemon in the game; however, when combined with Substitute, it works perfectly for Victini, allowing it to avoid statuses from foes such as Slowbro, Alomomola, Tyranitar, and Heatran and hit them with boosted Bolt Strikes. It also lets Victini bypass Hippowdon, Gliscor, and physically defensive Rotom-W, three very annoying checks to it otherwise. Zen Headbutt can be run over Substitute desired to hit Mega Charizard X. Will-O-Wisp is an option over Power-Up Punch to cripple many of the same foes, but though they are crippled by a burn, many of them still wall Victini. Brick Break allows Victini to bypass Tyranitar with much greater ease.

Set Details
========

The EV spread gives Victini maximum power while outspeeding Adamant Excadrill and Jolly Mega Heracross. The remaining EVs are placed into HP for a bit of extra bulk. A spread with maximum Speed can be run to tie with opposing base 100s at worst, but in order to take best advantage of this, a Jolly nature is required, which comes at a severe cost to Victini's power.

Usage Tips
========

As with your typical Victini, spamming V-create and smacking Water-types with Bolt Strike are typically its best options. Substitute is used to take advantage of sacrifices and then gain another kill, as well as prevent status from threatening defensive Pokemon. Power-Up Punch is for when Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Hippowdon, Gliscor, Slowbro, and Alomomola are around to ruin Victini's day otherwise.

Team Options
========

Hazard removal is vital to allow Victini easier and more frequent switch-in opportunities. Latias and Reflect Type Starmie are the best Pokemon for this role. Again, the likes of Chesnaught, Clefable, Ferrothorn, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon make for good partners to come in on the various Water-, Ground-, Rock-, and Dragon-type foes that often come in to force Victini out, along with setup sweepers that wish to take advantage of it, though with Substitute as a buffer, these can be less of an issue for Victini itself. What's more important are Pokemon to come into Landorus-T as Victini chips away at it with V-creates, such as Rotom-W and Gliscor. Spikes support can also be very useful in wearing Slowbro down into a more manageable range of HP.

Stallbreaker
########
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Taunt
move 2: V-create
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Bolt Strike
ability: Victory Star
item: Leftovers
evs: 248 HP / 32 Atk / 68 Def / 160 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Taunt allows Victini to debilitate setup sweepers, hazard setters, and walls such as Calm Mind Clefable, Heatran, and Chansey, respectively. Will-O-Wisp is key to this set, as it is used to wear down the opposition and cripple physical attackers while providing a decent way of dealing with opposing Pursuit trappers such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. V-create is a staggeringly powerful STAB move that threatens all kinds of Pokemon, although it must be used carefully, as Victini becomes vulnerable to Pursuit trappers after V-create's Defense drop.

Bolt Strike provides great coverage and is highly effective against threats such as non-Earth Power Heatran, Mega Charizard Y, Rotom-W, and Substitute + 3 attacks Mega Medicham courtesy of its high Base Power. Using Bolt Strike means that Victini is left vulnerable to Gliscor and Landorus-T; however, the latter can be burned on the switch, possibly crippling it indefinitely.

Blue Flare with full Special Attack investment and a Modest nature is a viable alternative to V-create, as it leaves Victini less vulnerable to Pursuit, but the difference in power is noticeable. It's worth noting that using Bolt Strike with Blue Flare is undesirable because this would force Victini to use a nature that reduces its bulk, Speed, or power. Glaciate can be used instead of Taunt to surprise and take care of common switch-ins such as Latias, Latios, Landorus-T, Gliscor, Greninja, and Garchomp thanks to its incredibly useful Speed drop effect and super effective coverage. Thunder is a decent alternative to Bolt Strike if you wish to use Blue Flare, a V-create compensates for its poor accuracy. Grass Knot can also be used instead of Bolt Strike, but it's mostly inferior because it leaves Victini vulnerable to Heatran and really doesn't do much else besides nail Slowbro, Quagsire, and Hippowdon. Focus Blast can also be used to hit Heatran and Tyranitar hard.

Set Details
========

The EV spread allows Victini to outpace Adamant Excadrill and Jolly Mega Heracross while optimizing its bulk to take on dangerous threats and avoiding the 2HKO from Adamant Mega Medicham's High Jump Kick. Victory Star is a useful ability that makes Victini's moves more accurate; for example, Bolt Strike and Will-O-Wisp become 93% accurate. If you intend to run Blue Flare, use a Modest nature; never use Blue Flare with Bolt Strike, as it forces Victini to forgo much-needed Speed or bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus-T are some of Victini's most common switch-ins. As such, Will-O-Wisp is particularly deadly, especially against Gliscor before its Toxic Orb activates. This set effectively checks Mega Heracross, Clefable, Mega Medicham, and Mega Gardevoir, provided that these threats don't have the appropriate coverage moves to defeat it. Victini gets worn down easily, so try to keep it healthy so it can optimally check threats, as it lacks reliable recovery. This set excels on stall and balanced teams due to its ability to check extremely dangerous threats in one teamslot and break through most stall teams.

Team Options
========

Clerics such as Chansey and Clefable are great partners, as Victini is vulnerable to status effects such as Toxic. Additionally, both Clefable and Chansey are able to provide much-needed Wish support. Alomomola, in particular, is a great Wish passer, as it is able to help combat threats such as Mega Medicham and can switch into Landorus-T. Defog users such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz are good teammates, as Victini detests taking Stealth Rock damage. Pursuit trappers such as Tyranitar and Bisharp are also useful, as Latios and Latias commonly switch into Victini.

Special Lure
########
name: Special Lure
move 1: Blue Flare / V-create
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Glaciate
move 4: Focus Blast
item: Expert Belt / Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Modest / Naughty

Moves
========

Victini is one of two Pokemon with access to Blue Flare, which is complemented by Victory Star's boost in accuracy from an unreliable 85% to a much more consistent 93%. With Fire Blast being nerfed to 110 Base Power, Blue Flare now has a significant power difference over it. This set is all about surprise factor and luring typical Victini answers, so hitting foes with special attacks can come as a huge surprise. V-create is also an option to maintain a powerful physical nuke and is still pretty powerful with a Naughty nature taken into account, even without investment. It is crucial to eliminate Clefable. Slowbro, Alomomola, Azumarill, Keldeo, and other Water-types are swiftly eliminated by Thunder, which has 77% accuracy thanks to Victory Star. Focus Blast also has 77% accuracy, and allows it to devastate Tyranitar and Heatran that think a V-create is coming. Glaciate nails Dragon-types on the switch and can cripple switch-ins with a -1 Speed drop. It also serves as a solid lure to hit Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon. Grass Knot can be used to hit Quagsire and Hippowdon for heavier damage. Psychic is another option to nail specially defensive Mega Charizard X.

Set Details
========

This Victini is an offensive variant with EVs optimizing its power and Speed. 4 EVs are placed into Defense instead of HP to give Victini an extra switch into Stealth Rock. Victini wants a Modest nature to maximize its damage output. A Naughty nature should be used to enhance V-create's power if Victini chooses to run it. A Naive nature can be run to outspeed or at worst tie with opposing base 100s. Expert Belt increases longevity and lets Victini bluff a Choice item in addition to allowing for some surprise KOs on Pokemon such as Tyranitar switching into Blue Flare. It also boosts power significantly against Pokemon like Heatran and Slowbro. Life Orb gives a consistent increase in power, and helps deal much more damage to Pokemon like Rotom-W that are neutral at worst to Victini's entire set.

Usage Tips
========

It's important to understand that a person's first thought when they see Victini is usually V-create, so be aware that they will most likely switch assuming that a V-create or U-turn is incoming. Therefore, the first prediction is huge. For example, a well-placed Focus Blast can devastate that Tyranitar looking to tank a V-create. Know that your opponent will respond much differently once they realize that it's a special attacking set and change your predictions accordingly. Despite being the weakest move by far on the set, Glaciate can be one of the most useful, slowing and damaging checks just enough for Victini to finish them off with Blue Flare. It also can take massive chunks of HP from Dragonite and Garchomp, two solid counters to the physical set.

Team Options
========

Strong physical sweepers to take advantage of weakened physical walls make for good teammates, such as Mega Charizard X, Excadrill, and Choice Scarf Garchomp. Pokemon with strong priority attacks, such as Choice Ban Azumarill and Dragonite, can pick off foes that Victini has weakened. Skarmory can tank almost any physical attack aimed at Victini, while setting hazards to help wear down Victini's counters or Defogging away the hazards that it hates. Most Pokemon that can remove hazards from Victini's side of the field are good teammates; Starmie, Excadrill, and Latias are other good examples.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: V-create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Final Gambit / Zen Headbutt
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

V-create still hits like a truck even without a boosting item, and a Choice Scarf allows Victini to attack faster threats, such as Keldeo and Greninja. Choice Scarf negates the Speed drop, allowing it to 2HKO slower Pokemon such as Gliscor and in general hit slower Pokemon attempting to revenge kill it that it couldn't otherwise. Bolt Strike synergizes very well with V-create by hitting Water-types, allowing it to revenge kill slightly weakened Mega Gyarados especially. U-turn allows Victini to scout for switches, and is useful because Choice Scarf Victini hates being stuck locked into anything in many scenarios. Final Gambit is the best option in the last slot, ruining defensive Pokemon with a massive 341 HP being taken off their health, paving the way for Pokemon such as Excadrill to clean. It also cleanly KOes most Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Charizard X, allowing it to revenge kill them rather effectively. Zen Headbutt is Victini's best option against Mega Charizard X, which otherwise completely walls this set, and allows it to hit faster Fighting-types like Terrakion and Keldeo hard; however, both of these Pokemon commonly use a Choice Scarf themselves, making Victini a shaky check.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximize Victini's ability to outspeed and successfully revenge kill foes with a Choice Scarf. An Adamant nature is preferred over a Jolly one for more power, as it doesn't really let Victini outspeed much that is notable besides Jolly Choice Scarf Landorus-T, which it cannot OHKO. Choice Scarf is what makes the set work, transforming Victini into a capable revenge killer.

Usage Tips
========

This set is generally used to serve as a fast, powerful nuke instead of necessarily revenge killing foes, though there are a few Pokemon that it can deal with, especially thanks to Final Gambit. Without the real firepower to break down some physical walls and pivots, spamming U-turn is often the best option, though without these walls around, spamming V-create is still a solid strategy. Final Gambit must be used strategically, as it causes Victini to faint. Be sure that the opponent will send in what you want to cripple with Final Gambit into Victini so you don't waste it and fail to weaken the opponent's wall.

Team Options
========

Choice-locked Victini can be massive setup bait for Pokemon that resist Fire type moves, such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, and Calm Mind Suicune. For this reason, Pokemon such as Mega Venusaur and Ferrothorn that can handle these well make for good partners. Because of the mechanics of Final Gambit, anti-hazard support is almost compulsory, Latias and Starmie making for the best choices to fill this role. Strong priority users, such as Diggersby and Azumarill, can take advantage of weakened faster Pokemon.

Other Options
########

A Trick Room set can be used to take advantage of the Speed drops from V-create, allowing Victini to devastate faster Pokemon. However, this set is rather gimmicky and only viable on specific teams, making it an inferior option overall. A more specially defensive set to handle Mega Gardevoir reliably, perhaps even with Protect to amplify its recovery, is viable, as is a more physically defensive set to handle Mega Medicham. Special versions of the Will-O-Wisp set with Blue Flare and Thunder can be run for more reliability and to lure some more of Victini's common answers, though there is a noticeable drop in power with the lack of V-create.

Checks & Counters
########

**Bulky Dragon-types**: Bulky Dragon-types are Victini's main counters for any set, as they can tank the powerful Fire- and Electric-type moves that Victini throws around. Mega Charizard X is probably the best overall counter, as it has a 4x resistance to Fire and Choice Band-boosted Bolt Strike can't even 3HKO it while it can threaten Victini with Earthquake or the potential to use it as setup fodder. If Mega Charizard X is weakened, then Substitute + Power-Up Punch can be problematic and Life Orb Psychic will 2HKO either way, but it is still the most solid answer out there. Other bulky Dragon-types such as Garchomp and Multiscale Dragonite handle Victini nicely as well, especially Roost Dragonite with HP investment. They can be hit hard with a Glaciate from special or mixed Victini, though.

**Fast Revenge Killers**: Victini's is not very fast and has its Speed dropped even further by its best move, making it especially prone to revenge killing. Terrakion, Keldeo, Greninja, Landorus, Latios, Latias, Excadrill, and Tyranitar are some examples of Pokemon that can revenge kill it.

**Pursuit Users**: Because of V-create's nasty side effects, Victini is one of the most Pursuit-prone Pokemon in the game. Tyranitar has the added bonus of resisting V-create and easily OHKOes Victini that try to switch out with Pursuit. Bisharp can play Sucker Punch and Pursuit mindgames, though Substitute variants of Victini can be problematic to it.

**Special Walls**: Bulky special walls hard wall Victini's special set. Chansey, Blissey, and Goodra get special mentions for being nearly untouchable and being able to spread status or retaliate back in Goodra's case. They do have to watch out for mixed variants with V-create, however, and are mediocre initial switch-ins to Victini.

**Hazards**: Victini switches in and out a lot, so setting up Stealth Rock early-game and keeping it up can be crucial in wearing it down. Stealth Rock also greatly deters Victini from using U-turn for free momentum, as U-turn's relatively low power of it along with the cost to get Victini in while Stealth Rock is up means that the Victini user will be more inclined to capitalize on the opportunity to fire off an attack. Heatran can check Victini, especially if it carries Earth Power, and lay down the Stealth Rock it hates.
Overview
########

Don't be fooled by Victini's designation as a UU Pokemon in Gen V, as it sits firmly entrenched as a solid Pokemon in Gen VI OU. Although base 100 Attack may not scream “frightening physical attacker”, V-Create is Victini's great equalizer. With a 180 Base Power STAB move, Victini is capable of heavily denting even the bulkiest of Pokemon. Add this to Victini's ability to run powerful special sets utilizing its other nearly exclusive move in Blue Flare, and you have a Pokemon that can be incredibly difficult to switch into. Victini differentiates itself from other offensive fire-types with its access to powerful Electric-type moves, allowing it to easily dispatch of Water-type Pokemon. Victory Star also allows it to use powerful but inaccurate moves such as Focus Blast and Thunder with much greater success, allowing Victini to hit hard even off of a relatively low base 100 special attack stat.

For all of its positive qualities, Victini has quite a few things holding it back from truly shining. V-Create has brutal side effects, dropping Victini's defense, special defense, and speed in one fell swoop. This makes it incredibly weak to Pursuit trapping, which is a very debilitating weakness with Pokemon such as Bisharp and Tyranitar among the top in usage statistics. Fire/Psychic is a poor typing defensively, leaving Victini with a weakness to Stealth Rock in addition to Water, Ground, Ghost, and Dark. Even without drops, 100 base speed is simply not what it used to be, leaving Victini outsped by many common Pokemon even before a drop from V-Create. Despite these drawbacks, Victini's versatility can make it difficult to check, and don't be surprised to find the words 'not very effective' scroll uselessly onto the screen as one of its checks is reduced to ashes.

Wallbreaker
########
Name: Wallbreaker
move 1: V-Create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: Brick Break
move 4: U-Turn
ability: Victory Star
item: Choice Band
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Moves
========
With access to a 180 base power physical STAB move, a Choice Band is a natural fit on Victini. To demonstrate, here are some calcs against common defensive Pokemon found in OU. All totals assume a positive nature.

V-create (-1) vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Landorus-T: 228-268 (44.7 - 52.8%)
V-create vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Rotom-W: 152-179 (50 - 58.8%)
V-create vs. 252 HP / 252 Def Thick Fat Mega Venusaur: 276-326 (75.8 - 89.5%)
V-create vs. 252 HP /244 Def Hippowdon: 62.14% - 73.09%

V-Create is complemented by another incredibly powerful move in Bolt Strike, allowing Victini to make short work of any bulky water-type Pokemon thinking they can switch into V-Create. Bolt Strike also allows Victini to cleanly 2HKO Rotom-W switching in since its speed does not drop after using the move. Victory Star raises the accuracy from 85% to 93%, allowing Victini to use the move much more freely. Brick Break provides great synergy with V-Create, heavily denting Pokemon such as Heatran and Tyranitar who don't fear V-Create. U-Turn allows Victini to keep momentum and allows Victini to chip away at checks simutaenously. Zen Headbutt is a viable move on Victini, 2HKOing Mega Charizard X who takes pittance from anything else Victini can use. Trick is an option as well, but many of Victini's checks don't mind a Choice Band. Additionally, some of Victini's counters are Mega Pokemon, and using Trick against them leaves Victini locked into an effectively useless move.

Set Details
========

Max Attack and Speed are used to maximize Victini's offensive potential. For the same reason, Choice Band is the primary item on the set. Life Orb can be used to switch moves, but with V-Create's drops you won't typically have the chance to switch moves anyway. There is also a significant drop in power that makes Victini much easier to play around. An Adamant nature gives more power while Jolly secures at least a speed tie with other max base speed 100 Pokemon. However, Victini usually forces switches, making Adamant the superior choice.

Usage Tips
========

Use team preview to your advantage. V-Create and U-Turn are going to be your main moves early-game and have almost completely opposite effects. Learn to recognize threats on the opponent's team; don't go spamming V-Create against a team with Pursuit users. Similarly, pay attention to set-up sweepers on your opponent's team. You do not want to be locked into V-Create when Intimidate Mega Gyarados or Dragon Dance Mega Charizard X is sitting on your opponent's team. If your opponent's physical resists are weaker defensive walls like Rotom-W or Landorus-T, V-Create will still to big chunks of damage to them and is usually better than U-Turn. Lastly, keep hazards off the field as Victini loses a quarter of its health every time it switches into Stealth Rock.

Team Options
========

Pokemon that can clear or set hazards are Victini's best friends. Like many Banded Pokemon, Victini will be switching in and out quite a bit, making its Stealth Rock weakness much more noticeable. If you can get Sticky Web support from Smeargle, then Victini can usually use V-Create a second time before switching out. Drought users such as Charizard-Y turn V-Create into a nuke. Choice Band V-Create in the sun has enough power to 2HKO Kingdra, which 4x resists V-Create. Dugtrio is able to trap Heatran and Tyranitar, two of the more common switch ins to Victini. It also traps Mega Charizard X, who resists almost anything Victini can throw at it. Ferrothorn and Skarmory can take almost all of the physical attacks aimed at Victini while setting up hazards of their own, and Skarmory can also Defog hazards if that becomes a problem. Mandibuzz resists the Ghost and Dark type attacks that plague Victini and can also clear the field of hazards. Vaporeon can deter the use of Water-type attacks against Victini and use Wish to heal Victini in return. Reliable phazers such as physically defensive Hippowdon can be very helpful, because V-Create attracts set-up sweepers like a magnet.

All Out Special Attacker
########
Name: All Out Special Attacker
move 1: Blue Flare
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Glaciate
ability: Victory Star
item: Life Orb / Expert Belt
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Moves
========

Victini is one of two Pokemon to get Blue Flare, and Victory Star boosts its accuracy from an unreliable 85% to a much more consistent 93%. With Fire Blast being nerfed to 110 BP, Blue Flare now has a significant power difference over it. This set is all about dealing damage, and Thunder is a slightly more reliable 77% accurate on Victini thanks to Victory Star. Focus Blast is also 77% for Victini, and allows it to devastate the physically bulky Rock-types thinking V-create is coming. Glaciate nails Dragon-types on the switch, and the nifty 100% speed drop can cripple anything that switches into Glaciate. Grass Knot can be used to hit Quagsire and Gastrodon for super effective damage, but doesn't do much else. Hidden Power Ground can hit Heatran more accurately and Mega Charizard X for super effective damage, but isn't very strong coming off of 60 base power. V-Create is still viable to take on special walls that will eventually start to switch into this set as the match goes on, but Victini is hard pressed to give up any of its coverage and V-Create is noticeably weaker without investment. However, it is important to note that V-Create is still able to 2HKO Blissey even without investment.

Set Details
========

This Victini is an offensive variant, and EVs optimized for max power and speed are the only way to go. 4 EVs are in Defense instead of HP to give Victini an extra switch into Stealth Rock. Victini wants Modest to maximize damage, and its tendency to force switches supports the choice over Timid. Life Orb gives a consistent increase, and helps deal much more damage to Pokemon like Rotom-W who are neutral at worst to the entire set. Expert Belt increases longevity, but loses a lot of power on neutral or resisted hits. However, Expert Belt can bluff a choice item and allow for some surprise KOs on things like Tyranitar switching into Blue Flare.

Usage Tips
========

It's important to understand that a person's first thought when they see Victini is V-Create, and be aware that they are going to switch assuming V-create or U-Turn will come the first time. Therefore, first prediction is huge. An opponent usually assumes that Victini is running a physical set, and a well placed Focus Blast can devastate that Tyranitar looking to tank a V-Create. Know that your opponent will respond much differently when they realize it's a special attacking set, and change your predictions accordingly. Despite being by far the weakest move on the set, Glaciate can be one of the most useful, slowing and damaging checks just enough for Victini to finish them off with Blue Flare. It also can take massive chunks of HP from Dragonite and Garchomp, two solid counters to the physical set.

Team Options
========

Sun support from Charizard-Y powers up Blue Flare to sky high levels. Strong physical sweepers to take advantage of weakened physical walls make for good teammates, such as Mega-Charizard X or Mega Garchomp. Pokemon with strong priority can pick off Pokemon that Victini has hurt, such as Bullet Punch Scizor or Aqua Jet Azumarill. Skarmory can wall almost any physical attack aimed at Victini, and sets hazards to nail KOs or Defog to remove the hazards Victini hates. Most Pokemon that can remove hazards from Victini's side of the field are good teammates; Excadrill is a consistent spinner and can threaten bulky Rock-types like Tyranitar.

Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: V-Create
move 2: Bolt Strike / Trick
move 3: Final Gambit / Zen Headbutt
move 4: U-Turn
ability: Victory Star
item: Choice Scarf
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe

Moves
========
V-Create still hits like a truck even without a boosting item, and a Choice Scarf allows it it to attack faster and frailer Pokemon than other sets. Bolt Strike synergizes very well with V-Create and helps Victini revenge KO flying Dragon-types. Final Gambit can ruin stall teams, and at 341 max HP will take a huge chunk out of anything that manages to survive it. U-Turn allows Victini to scout for switches, and is useful because Choice Scarf Victini hates being locked into moves. Trick can cripple set up sweepers or dedicated walls, but can also be complete dead weight against offensive teams. Zen Headbutt is Victini's best option against Mega Charizard-X, who otherwise completely walls this set, and allows it to hit faster Fighting-types like Terrakion and Keldeo hard. However, both of these Pokemon commonly use Choice Scarves themselves, making Victini a shaky check.

Set Details
========

Max Speed and max Attack compliment the Choice Scarf in the best way possible, and the same can be said of a Jolly nature. Choice Scarf is what makes the set go, transforming Victini into a capable revenge killer. Choice Scarf pushes Victini's speed up to 492, outspeeding anything that is unboosted bar Deoxys-S and speed tying with other positive natured base 100s at +1.

Usage Tips
========
Choice Scarf is an item that has seen a noticable drop in usage and it isn't something that people necessarily expect anymore, so use that to your advantage. Similarly, most people try and set up on a Victini at -1 speed, but the Scarf essentially negates a -1 speed drop, meaning that you can often use a second V-Create on an unsuspecting opponent. The choice between Bolt Strike and Trick should be based on your team needs. If you need a more offensively inclined Pokemon and revenge killer, then choose Bolt Strike. If you would rather use Victini to try and cripple walls or stop slower set up sweepers, like most Calm Mind users, then Trick is the move of choice. Trick can also be incredibly useful against Pokemon such as Bisharp that utilize Sucker Punch, as it will cause the move to fail and then give the opponent the scarf. Final Gambit can be great against stall, where a Choice Scarf set isn't as useful. However, it must either be used early in the match or Victini must be kept at full HP to be useful, making it very situational at times. Team preview can help you know which moves will be more appropriate. If there are fast and frail Pokemon that can be checked by Choice Scarf Victini such as Greninja, then you don't want want to use Final Gambit or Trick away your Choice Scarf.

Team Options
========
V-Create locked Victini can be massive set-up bait for Pokemon that resist Fire type moves, such as Mega Charizard X, Intimidate Mega Gyarados, or Calm Mind Suicune. Pokemon that you use will be based on the other walls on your team, but there are some common variables. Unaware Quagsire can completely nullify any set up attempts by your opponent, making it a great partner for Choice Scarf Victini. For this reason, phazers pair very well with this Victini variant. Pokemon like Skarmory with Whirlwind or Physically Defense Hippowdon with Roar can handle some physical sweepers while Pokemon such as Sylveon with Roar can handle special set up Pokemon. Mega Venusaur can handle a number of these of physical and special sweepers while threatening back offensively. Bulky Intimidate Gyarados can also handle a number of sweepers by reverting their +1 to normal and Roaring them out. Because of the mechanics of Final Gambit, anti-hazard support is almost compulsory, and Scizor or Mandibuzz are great defoggers while Excadrill is a solid spinner. Slower stronger priority users such as Diggersby or Azumarill can take advantage of weakened faster Pokemon.

Trick Room Sweeper
########
name: Trick Room Sweeper
move 1: V-Create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: Brick Break
move 4: Trick Room
ability: Victory Star
item: Flame Plate / Life Orb
nature: Brave
evs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Def
ivs: 0 Spe

Moves
========

Although it may seem a bit odd at first glance, Victini is actually a solid user of Trick Room. V-Create pairs well with Trick Room, as each drop of speed from V-Create now makes you ''faster'' within Trick Room, while being by far Victini's most powerful attack. Bolt Strike does large chunks of damage to the bulky Water-types looking to sponge a V-Create, and keeps your defense intact as well. Brick Break hits the rock types looking to take a V-Create, and is also the best way to deal with Heatran and Tyranitar. There are no real alternatives for this set, the three listed moves give the best coverage Victini has to offer.

Set Details
========

Flame Plate allows Victini to avoid recoil from Life Orb and power up V-Create. Since you're investing in bulk, you do not want to reduce your own health every turn. However, if you plan on using Victini as a one time wallbreaker, then Life Orb can help secure more Kos. 0 IVs in Speed and a Speed reducing nature make Victini as "fast" as possible within Trick Room. 252 EVs in Attack, with 248 in HP and the rest in defense, drastically increasing Victini's ability to take an extra hit.

Usage Tips
========

With 0 IVs and a reducing nature, Victini sits at 184 Speed, which means Victini would "outspeed" uninvested base 75s such as Mega-Scizor. Heatran has 190 Speed with no investment, meaning Victini will always have a lower stat than it. Slow defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Slowbro will ''outspeed'' Victini in Trick Room even after a V-Create drop, so make sure they are eliminated before attempting to sweep. While it is primarily a late-game sweeper, Victini can still come in mid-game and fire off a V-Create due to the fact that most Pokemon switch out of Victini, mitigating your lack of speed. Use your opponent's team to know when to set up. This means that if your opponent is running hyper offense with multiple frail sweepers, you can set up slightly earlier than you would against a bulky team that needs to be weakened first. Know which priority users to eliminate before attempting to sweep. Victini's odd typing leaves it weak to weak to Aqua Jet, Shadow Sneak, and Sucker Punch, but resistant to Ice Shard, Mach Punch, Vacuum Wave, and Bullet Punch while being neutral to the priority Normal and Flying-type moves.

Team Options
========

Victini fits well onto a Trick Room team, as a setter, wallbreaker, or sweeper. Escavlier is a good Pokemon for a Trick Room team, and this bulkier variant of Victini can take the Fire-type moves Escavlier draws like a magnet(on). Reuniclus has been a staple on Trick Room teams since its introduction, and that is no different in X/Y, as it can absorb any passive damage thrown at the team and is a good complement to the physical Victini. Victini's bulk and typing also make it a good partner with Porygon2, as it resists the Fighting-type moves Porygon2 is weak to, while Porygon2 is immune to the Ghost-type moves that plague Victini. Hazard support also makes Victini's sweep easier, and Ferrothorn can tank the Surfs, Stone Edges, and Earthquakes commonly thrown at Victini. As always, Charizard-Y's Drought turns V-Create into a nuclear blast making Victini's sweep much easier. However, combining the sun with Trick Room turns can be very tricky.

Other Options
########

Will-O-Wisp can ruin some of Victini's normal checks, but it has a hard time fitting into a moveset. Victini is part Psychic type, but none of its Psychic STAB moves hit particularly hard. Dazzling Gleam and Shadow Ball can be used for coverage, but are almost always outdamaged by V-Create or Blue Flare. Substitute can be used to ease prediction, but between Substitute and its vulnerability to hazards, this set gets worn down very quickly. A mixed set is feasible, but usually outdamaged by a maximum invested V-Create. Sunny Day can work on non-choiced sets to be more self-sustainable or help should your sun setter go down, but it has to give up a valuable coverage move for this, and Victini isn't very fast either.

Checks & Counters
########
Different Victini sets have different counters, as it can go physical and special.

**Bulky Dragon-types**: These are Victini's main counters for either set, as they resist the powerful Fire and Electric-type moves that Victini throws around. Mega Charizard-X is probably the best overall counter, as it has a 4x resistance to Fire and takes and only takes 27.1 - 31.8% from a banded Bolt Strike while threatening back with Earthquake or setting up. Other bulky Dragon-types such as Garchomp and Multiscale Dragonite can take a V-Create and easily revenge a Victini at -1.

**Fast revenge killers**: Base 100 is not very fast, and Victini's best move drops its speed even further, making it incredibly prone to revenge killing. Pokemon such as Terrakion and Keldeo who utilize Choice Scarf themselves can always revenge KO any non Trick Room Victini, and Pokemon above base 100 speed such as Greninja and Landorus-I can revenge non-scarfed sets with Hydro Pump and Earth Power respectively. At -1, Victini drops to a speed of 164 in addition to the defense drops, and is revenge KOed by countless Pokemon. Dugtrio gets a special mention for always revenge killing Victini at -1 due to Arena Trap.

**Pursuit users**: Because of V-Creates nasty side effects, Victini may be one of the most Pursuit prone Pokemon in the game. Tyranitar has the added bonus of resisting V-Create, and easily OHKOs Victini trying to switch with Pursuit. Bisharp can play Sucker Punch and Pursuit mind games, or set up a Sub to at worst guarantee a KO with Pursuit on a -2 Victini that stayed in on the Substitute.

**Special Walls**: This obviously only applies to the special set, but bulky special walls hard wall Victini's special set. Chansey, Blissey, and Goodra get special mentions for being nearly untouchable, and being able to spread status or retaliate back in Goodra's case.

**Hazards**: Victini is a Pokemon that is going to be switching in and out a lot, and getting Stealth Rock specifically down early limits the number of times that it can switch in. It also greatly deters Victini from using U-Turn, as its U-Turn isn't that strong, which in turn makes it significantly easier to deal with. Heatran can deal with a Victini locked into any non Fighting-type move and also lay down the rocks that Victini hates.

Obviously very nitpicky, but w/e. The stallbreaker set should have 68 Defense EVs > 64, since with 64 there's a slight chance of being 2HKOd by Medicham, but with 68 there's none. The 0.4% chance isn't going to happen much, obviously, but it's better the 4 EVs go to where they're needed more.

I think Grass Knot/Energy Ball should be mentioned on all three sets for their ability two beat Hippo + Quag + Rotom-W.

Also, I kinda think Zen Headbutt shouldn't be slashed. A neutral V-Create > a super effective Zen Headbutt, so nothing particularly relevant calls for Zen Headbutt. It's unable to OHKO offensive Venusaur, which is pretty annoying. It gives up the ability to smack Ttar, which is pretty huge. I know it's a secondary slash and everything, but I don't really think it's worth more than moves. It's like using Psychic on the special set: not worth it.

zen is for zard x

not mentioning gk on physical sets cuz its bad and at least cb v-create shits on those anyways

fixed stallbreaker set evs including pushing 8 more evs for adamant drill

This is VERY minor, but on the Stallbreaker set a spread of 248 HP / 132 Atk / 68 Def / 60 Spe Jolly gives 1 more point of attack than 248/32/68/160 Adamant.

SubPuP is one of Victinit's best sets and should be added. For more details, check here. If it's too much writing for you Jukain or you don't have playtesting experience with it, i can write it up separately.

here's my question: why use power-up punch over wisp? i originally tested sub pup, but i have found wisp 100% better. any sub tini beats tran, that's hardly a concern. wisp + rocks is gonna wear slowbro into 2hko range. wisp is going to cripple ttar, no worries there. furthermore wisp lets you more easily bypass foes such as landt, chomp, hippowdon, phys def scor that just love to switch in even if ph isnt activated because they know tini will be threatened out after v-create and it can take a hit. wisp also lets you sufficiently cripple mega gyara in a 1v1 scenario, and is great when people bring in mons like dragonite and terrakion. wisp + bolt strike will get to mola, think that covers everything?

edit: i mean using subwisp, just sayin

The obvious answer is the Atk boosts. It's the difference between a stallbreaker and a wallbreaker (more or less, it's not like WoW Tini can't hit hard, but not hard enough to wallbreak). The Attack boosts mean that not only can Vitctini bypass usual checks and counters, but it can also set up on them and threaten to OHKO anything slower after KOing its check / counter, making it a much bigger immediate threat. It means that you can't just take your time like you can do against WoW Tini, because the more time you take the stronger it gets.

Also, WoW doesn't let Victini bypass Hippo and Gliscor, the latter is immune to burn and the first walls Victini even when burned. If you use PuP twice, once as they switch in and once as they attack, you can OHKO them with V-Create at +2, so they are not counters. The only hard counters to the PuP set are Quagsire and Mega Charizard X, and Char X loses if Tini has Zen Headbutt instead of Sub.

Furthermore, even though WoW cripples some of your checks and counters, it doesn't prevent them from countering you. For example, Hippowdon and Tyranitar still wall you even if burned, which means that they can still do part of their job, such as provide sand to their team for example. Or, if they are paired with clerics or wish passers, the burn is much less important, and clerics are very common on stall teams. Also, some teams prefer the faster pace at which PuP Tini can deal with its checks and counters, as WoW Tini needs to take its time against Pokemon such as the aforementioned Tyranitar and Hippowdon, and with more pokes, such as Rotom-W and Landorus-T.

Oh, and if you hit physically defensive Rotom-W on the switch with PuP, you can then 2HKO it with Bolt Strike, thus immediately dealing with one hard check and a very annoying Pokemon in general.

And even if i didn't convince you, it's really most of a practice thing. I wasn't sure about the sets effectiveness before i tried it out, but after doing so, i can say with certainty that it's on par with the TauntWoW set and maybe even better.

alright, i got a team from someone and tested the set out a bit more and my experience was significantly more pleasant. based on this and other testing i've pretty much finalized the sets, will get to work on this.

hmm

this is cool but in oo I think for tr you shouldn't say inferior overall because you should only use it on tr where it is definitely not inferior.

I mean it just rubs me the wrong way, idk

Two things about the special set. First, Psychic should be slashed after Glaciate, it's really nice for Mega Char X, Quagsire, and Rotom-W, while also having better accuracy than Focus Blast and Thunder against targets hit hard by both, such as Keldeo and Talonflame. Second, Energy Ball > Grass Knot against both Rotom-W and Quagsire.

Oh and i also think that LO > EB, there are a ton of 2HKOes missed without LO, special EB Tini is not really an effective wallbreaker, and you are not fooling anyone that you are choiced because there is no such thing as SpecsTini.

Overview
########

Victini is, simply put, a powerhouse. While a base 100 Attack stat might not seem all that impressive, access to a 180 Base Power STAB move in V-create makes Victini insanely difficult to stop. It; this is backed by an excellent movepool with many coverage and utility options. On top of this, a unique defensive typing lets Victini serve as a check to many of the tier's top threats, including Mega Gardevoir, Mega Medicham, and Clefable, and it gets Taunt and Will-O-Wisp to check many other Pokemon as well as lure some of the few answers to it [Might want to add something like what answers are crippled by these moves here]. Choice Band Victini outright OHKOes or at the least 2HKOes almost every Pokemon in the tier; as such, it is a ridiculously threatening to defensive teams. ItVictini does have a few problems, though. Its Psychic typing makgives Victini a Pursuit baitweakness and the drops from V-create don't help with that. Itis. Victini is weak to Stealth Rock and is easily checked by the ubiquitous Water-types in the OU tier [You say this but mention in Moves of Choice Band that Bolt Strike annihilates Water-types]. In general, Victini has difficulty finding switch-in opportunities due to its many common weaknesses.

Choice Band
########
name: Choice Band
move 1: V-create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: Zen Headbutt / Brick Break
move 4: U-turn
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

V-create is the main selling point of using Victini. It; V-create is the literal definition of a nuke, blasting through all but the bulkiest of resists. For example, it has a 50% chance to OHKO Latios after Stealth Rock damage. Bolt Strike complements itV-create well by annihilating Water-types with the Choice Band boost, even 2HKOing Slowbro; Bolt Strike also hits Heatran rather hard. Zen Headbutt is generally preferred in the third slot to 2HKO Mega Charizard X, which otherwise counters Victini is otherwise a counter. H; however, Brick Break is also an option to OHKO Tyranitar and deal more damage to Heatran. U-turn is preferred in the last slot to reduce the need for prediction and pivot out of potentially unfavorable scenarios. It, while also doesing large damage to Tyranitar switch-ins.

Set Details
========

Max Attack and Speed areinvestment is used to maximize Victini's offensive potential. For the same reason, Choice Band is the primary item onf the set. Life Orb can be used to switch moves, but with V-create's drops you, Victini won't typically have the chance to switch moves anyway. There is also a significant drop in power when using Life Orb that makes Victini much easier to play around. A Jolly nature can be used instead of Adamant to ensure a Speed tie at the least with other base 100s Speed Pokemon, but the decrease in power generally isn't worth it.

Usage Tips
========

The name of the game with this set is spam V-create and watch something crumble [This sentence could be removed, but I like the flare to it]. More prediction comes into play when involving Heatran, Tyranitar, and bulky Water-types, such as Slowbro and Alomomola; Heatran; and Tyranitar. These Pokemon can seriously threaten Victini and limit its ability to just spam V-create at the risk of losing some serious momentum. In many situations, it can be a good idea to use Bolt Strike on switch-ins of these Pokemon, then switch out as the opponent goes out to something that can take it. In the presence of Tyranitar, Brick Break can also be a solid option if youVictini haves it. U-turn is a very safe option in general, and can even be preferred to killing something with V-create if keeping up offensive momentum is more important.

[Just a general thing, you are not using Brick Break, Victini is using Brick Break n_n.]

Team Options
========

Often, Victini will be forced out by foes such as Latios, Latias, Terrakion, Landorus-T, Gliscor, Azumarill, Keldeo, Excadrill, and Greninja. It is important to carry Pokemon such as Chesnaught, Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Landorus-T that can come into these whenever they come into Victini on a revenge kill. Chesnaught, Clefable, Ferrothorn, and Landorus-T are a few examples. SpikesSpikes support from Chesnaught and Ferrothorn also aids Victini in wearing down opposing defensive Pokemon, which, when combined with Victini's U-turn and Volt Switch partners, such as Mega Manectric and Landorus-T, can wear down opposing teams very quickly. Defog or Rapid Spin support is important to get rid of Stealth Rock, which is a massive detriment to Victini's switch-in opportunities. Roost or even Healing Wish Latias and Reflect Type Starmie are the best choices for this role. Finally, Pokemon to handle setup sweepers such as Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, Dragonite, and Mega Charizard X that can take advantage of a Choice-locked Victini are vital partners. S; some options include Hippowdon, Azumarill, and the aforementioned Ferrothorn.

Substitute
########
name: Substitute
move 1: Substitute
move 2: V-create
move 3: Bolt Strike
move 4: Power-Up Punch
item: Leftovers
evs: 96 HP / 252 Atk / 160 Spe
nature: Adamant

Moves
========

Substitute is an excellent move on Victini to avoid status such as Toxic and moreover punish switch-ins, heavily reducing the prediction needed in using it. V-create is used as an obscenely powerful STAB move even without a boosting item, while Bolt Strike complements it nicely by hitting Water-types and Heatran. The odd move out on this set is Power-Up Punch, which is mediocre at best on almost every single other Pokemon in the game. H; however, it works perfectly for Victini, allowing it to bypass foes such as Slowbro, Alomomola, Tyranitar, and Heatran with Substitute to avoid their statuses and boosted Bolt Strikes. It also lets Victini bypass Hippowdon, Gliscor, and physically defensive Rotom-W, three very annoying checks otherwise.

Set Details
========

The EV spread gives Victini maximum power while outspeeding Adamant Excadrill and Jolly Mega Heracross. The remaining EVs are placed into HP for a bit of extra bulk. A spread running maximum Speed spread can be run to tie with opposing base 100s Speed Pokemon at the worst, but in order to take best advantage of this a Jolly nature is required, which comes at a severe cost to Victini's power.

Usage Tips
========

As with your typical Victini, V-create spam is the best option in many scenarios, or smacking Water-types with Bolt Strike. Substitute is used to take advantage of sacs and then gain another kill, as well as prevent status from threatening defensive Pokemon. Power-Up Punch is for when Pokemon like Tyranitar, Hippowdon, Gliscor, Slowbro, and Alomomola are around to ruin Victini's day otherwise.

Team Options
========

Hazard removal is vital to allow Victini more frequent and easier switch-in opportunities.; Latias and Reflect Type Starmie are the best Pokemon for this role. Again, the likes of Chesnaught, Clefable, Ferrothorn, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon make for good partners to come in on the various Water-, Ground-, Rock-, and Dragon-type foes that often come in[remove space]to force Victini as well asout, along with setup sweepers that wish to take advantage of Victini's lowered defenses and Speed, though with Substitute as a buffer, these can be less of an issue for Victini itself. What's more important are Pokemon to come into Landorus-T as Victini chips away at it with V-creates, such as Rotom-W and Gliscor. Spikes support can also be very useful in wearing down Slowbro into a more manageable range of HP.

Special Lure
########
name: Special Lure
move 1: Blue Flare / V-create
move 2: Thunder
move 3: Glaciate
move 4: Focus Blast
item: Expert Belt / Life Orb
evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Modest / Naughty

Moves
========

Victini is one of two Pokemon to getwith access Blue Flare, andwhich is complimented by Victory Star's boosts itsn accuracy from an unreliable 85% to a much more consistent 93%. With Fire Blast being nerfed to 110 Base Power, Blue Flare now has a significant power difference over it. This set is all about surprise factor and luring typical Victini answers into it, so hitting foes on the special side can come as a huge surprise. V-create is also an option to still be a powerful physical nuke and is still pretty powerful with a Naughty nature taken into account, even without investment. Glaciate nails Dragon-types on the switch, and the nifty 100% Speed drop can cripple anything that switches into Glaciate. It; while also luresing in Gliscor, Landorus-T, and Hippowdon well. Grass Knot can be used to hit Quagsire and Hippowdon for heavier damage.

Set Details
========

This Victini is an offensive variant, andwith EVs optimized for maximum power and sSpeed are the only way to go. 4 EVs are placed in Defense instead of HP to give Victini an extra switch into Stealth Rock. Victini wants Modest to maximize damage, and its tendency to force switches supports the choice over Timid. Naughty should be used to enhance the power of V-create if Vict ini chooses to run it. Expert Belt increases longevity and lets Victini bluff a Choice item, while andlso allowsing for some surprise KOs on things like Tyranitar switching into Blue Flare. It also boosts power significantly against foes like Heatran and Slowbro. Life Orb gives a consistent increase in power, and helps deal much more damage to Pokemon like Rotom-W that are neutral at worst to theVictini's entire set.

Usage Tips
========

It's important to understand that a person's first thought when they see Victini is V-create, and be aware that they are going to switch assuming V-create or U-turn will come the first time. Therefore, first prediction is huge. An opponent usually assumes that Victini is running a physical set, and a well-placed Focus Blast can devastate that Tyranitar looking to tank a V-create.

========

Strong physical sweepers to take advantage of weakened physical walls make for good teammates, such as Mega Charizard X, Excadrill, and Choice Scarf Garchomp. Pokemon with strong priority can pick off Pokemon that Victini has hurt, such as Azumarill and Choice Band Dragonite. Skarmory can wall almost any physical attack aimed at Victini, andwhile also setsting hazards to nail KOs or Defog to remove the[Maybe mention WHAT KOs are achieved.] or Defogging hazards that Victini hates. Most Pokemon that can remove hazards from Victini's side of the field are good teammates; Starmie, Excadrill, and Latias are other good examples.

Stallbreaker
########
name: Stallbreaker
move 1: Taunt
move 2: V-create
move 3: Will-O-Wisp
move 4: Bolt Strike
ability: Victory Star
item: Leftovers
evs: 248 HP / 32 Atk / 68 Def / 160 Spe
nature: Jolly

Moves
========

Taunt allows Victini to debilitate setup sweepers, hazard setters, and walls such as Calm Mind Clefable, Heatran, and Chansey, respectively. Will-O-Wisp is key to this set, as it is used to wear down the opposition and cripple physical attackers while providing a decent way of dealing with opposing Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and Bisharp. V-create is a staggeringly powerful STAB move that threatens all kinds of Pokemon. V-create, although it must be used carefully, as Victini becomes vulnerable to Pursuit trappers after the Defense drop.

Bolt Strike adds great coverage and is highly efficient against threats such as non-Earth Power Heatran, Mega Charizard-Y [Remove space between - and Y], Rotom-W, SubPunch Mega Mawile, and Substitute + 3 attacks Mega Medicham, courtesy of its great Base Power. Using Bolt Strike makeeans that Victini is a little vulnerable to Gliscor and Landorus-T; however, the latter can be burned on the switch, possibly crippling it indefinitely.

Blue Flare with full Special Attack investment and a Modest nature is a viable alternative over V-create. Blue Flare leaves Victini less vulnerable to Pursuit, but the difference in power is noticeable. It's worth noting that using Bolt Strike with Blue Flare is undesirable because Victini can't compromise its bulk, sSpeed, and power. Glaciate can be used instead of Taunt to surprise and take care of common switch-ins such as Latias, Latios, Landorus-T, Gliscor, Greninja, Garchomp, and many others thanks to its added effect, an incredibly useful Speed drop, and its advantageous typing. Thunder is a decent alternative to Bolt Strike if you wish to use Blue Flare, as its bad accuracy is compensated for by Victory Star. Grass Knot can also be used instead of Bolt Strike, but it's mostly inferior, because it leaves Victini vulnerable to Heatran. Grass Knot and really doesn't do much else besides nailing Slowbro, Quagsire, and Hippowdon. Focus Blast can also be used to nail Heatran and Tyranitar.

Set Details
========

The EV spread allows Victini to outpace Adamant Excadrill and Jolly Mega Heracross while optimizing its bulk to take on dangerous threats and avoiding the 2HKO against Adamant Mega Medicham's High Jump Kick. Victory Star is a useful ability that makes Victini's moves more accurate. F; for example, Bolt Strike and Will-O-Wisp becomehave a boosted 93% accuratecy. If you intend to userun Blue Flare, use a Modest nature; never use Blue Flare with Bolt Strike, as it forces Victini to forgo much needed Speed or bulk.

Usage Tips
========

Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus-T are some of Victini's most common switch-ins. As such, Will-O-Wisp is particularly deadly, especially against Gliscor before its Toxic Orb activates. This set effectively checks Mega Mawile, Mega Medicham, and Mega Gardevoir, provided that these threats don't have the appropriate coverage moves to defeat it. Victini gets worn down easily, so try to keep it healthy so it can optimally check threats, as it lacks reliable recovery. This set excels on stall teams and balanced teams due to its ability to check extremely dangerous threats in one slot and break through most stall teams.

Team Options
========

Clerics such as Chansey and Clefable are great partners, as Victini is vulnerable to status effects such as Toxic. Additionally, both Clefable and Chansey are able to provide much-needed Wish support. Alomomola, in particular, is a great Wish passer, as it is able to help combat threats such as Mega Medicham and Mega Mawile. Defog users such as Skarmory and Mandibuzz are good teammates, as Victini detests taking Stealth Rock damage. Pursuit trappers such as Tyranitar and Bisharp are also useful, as Latios and Latias commonly switch into Victini.

V-create still hits like a truck even without a boosting item, and a Choice Scarf allows it it to attack faster and frailer Pokemon faster than other sets. Choice Scarf negates V-creathe's Speed drop, allowing it to 2HKO slower Pokemon such as Gliscor and in general hit slower Pokemon attempting to revenge kill it that it couldn't otherwise. Final Gambit is the best option in the last slot, ruining defensive Pokemon with a minimum of a massive 341 HP being taken off their health, paving the way for Pokemon such as Excadrill to clean. It also cleanly KOes most Mega Gyarados, Mega Tyranitar, and Mega Charizard X, allowing it to revenge kill them rather effectively. Zen Headbutt is Victini's best option against Mega Charizard X, which otherwise completely walls this set, and allows it to hit faster Fighting-types like Terrakion and Keldeo hard. H; however, both of these Pokemon commonly use a Choice Scarf themselves, making Victini a shaky check.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed investment maximize Victini's ability to outspeed and successfully revenge kill foes with a Choice Scarf. An Adamant nature is preferred over Jolly for more power over Jolly, which really doesn't outspeed much that is notable. Choice Scarf is what makes the set work, transforming Victini into a capable revenge killer.

Usage Tips
========

This set is generally used to serve as a fast, powerful nuke instead of necessarily revenge killing foes, though there are a few Pokemon that it can deal with, especially thanks to Final Gambit. Without the real firepower to break down some physical walls and pivots, U-turn spam is often the best option, though without thoese walls around V-create spam is still a solid strategy. Final Gambit must be used strategically, as it is a sacrificial move for Victini. Be sure that the opponent will send in what you want to cripple with Final Gambit into Victini so you don't waste it while the opponent still has their Hippowdon, Landorus-T, etc. at full health.

Team Options
========

########

**Bulky Dragon-types**: These are Victini's main counters for eitherany set, as mosthey can tank the powerful Fire- and Electric-type moves that Victini throws around. Mega Charizar -X [Remove the space between - and X]is probably the best overall counter, as it has a 4x resistance to Fire and takes only takes 27.1 - 31.8% from Choice Band-boosted Bolt Strike while threatening back with Earthquake or simply setting up. Other bulky Dragon-types such as Garchomp and Multiscale Dragonite handle it nicely as well, especially Roost Dragonite with HP investment. [I'd mention that Glaciate kinda screws over Dragon-types though]

**Fast revenge killers**: BVictini's base 100 Speed is not very fast, and Victini's best move drops its sSpeed even further, making Victini incredibly prone to revenge killing. Pokemon such as Terrakion, Keldeo, Greninja, Landorus, Latios, Latias, Excadrill, and Tyranitar are some examples of such Pokemon.

**Pursuit users**: Because of V-create's nasty side effects, Victini is one of the most Pursuit-prone Pokemon in the game. Tyranitar has the added bonus of resisting V-create, and easily OHKOes Victini trying to switch with Pursuit. Bisharp can play Sucker Punch and Pursuit mindgames, though Substitute variants of Victini can be problematic to Bisharp.

**Special Walls**: This obviously only applies to the special set, but bulky special walls hard wall Victini's special set. Chansey, Blissey, and Goodra get special mentions for being nearly untouchable, and being able to spread status or retaliate back in Goodra's case.

**Hazards**: Victini is a Pokemon that is going to be switching in and out a lot, and getting Stealth Rock set down early limits the number of times that it can switch in. TheyStealth Rock also greatly deters Victini from using U-turn for free momentum, as the relatively low power of it and cost to get Victini in with Stealth Rock up is not worth it. Heatran can check Victini, especially if it carries Earth Power, and lay down the Stealth Rock it hates.

Some general notes:
  • Don't use you, you're not using Bolt Strike, Victini is.
  • Removed mentions of Mega Mawile :).
  • Also, I'd possibly add a way to change it from being repetitive each set with 'Bolt Strike is complimented by V-create', ya know?

I know this is really tiny (no pun intended), but what would you say to switching the set order to show how good StallTini is? Idk if it's just me, but I kinda think stalltini is its best set. However, it's easily understood why people gravitate to the band set. I do definitely think it's better than subpp and special sets though. thoughts?

You don't mention bulky Water-types in checks and counters, such as Mola, Slowbro, and Quagsire, and you should expand on your checks and counters list in general, Victini can be a tricky Pokemon to deal with. Heatran and Terrakion should also get a mention somewhere, as should bulky Ground-types such as Lando-T, Gliscor, and Hippowdon.

Jukain Psychic needs to be mentioned somewhere on the Special Lure set to hit Zard X, that is an important target

Still mentions of Mega Mawile, remove that since it is banned
