Battle Soul
Time to do this:
Overview
########
- Cute, but don't let that fool you
- Base 100 across the board for well-rounded stats
- Fantastic movepool that is highlighted by V-create
- Great wallbreaker on the physical side
- Can even go mixed with stuff like Grass Knot and Thunder
- Solid Speed tier to use a Scarf
- Not a good defensive typing
- Faces competition from Darmanitan in most cases
- Easy to take advantage of stat drops from V-create
- Hydreigon and Mega-Houndoom resist Fire and are immune to Psychic
Choice Band
########
name: Choice Band
move 1: V-create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Flare Blitz / Grass Knot
ability: Victory Star
item: Choice Band
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD/ 252 Spe
nature: Jolly / Hasty
Moves
========
- You want power? You got it
- Uses Victini's powerful physical moves to break down most physical walls
- V-create is a nuke. Only the bulkiest resists can tank it
- Bolt Strike smacks Slowbro and Suicune really hard
- U-turn is nice for momentum. Generally a safe move to use early
- Flare Blitz seems odd, but Tini has 100 Speed, meaning it can clean up if faster things are gone
- Grass Knot seems odd, but it fucks Hippowdon and Swampert pretty badly
Set Details
========
- Basic EV spread
- Use Jolly with Flare Blitz and Hasty with Grass Knot. Extra 4 EVs should be in Special Attack if GK is used
- Tempting to use Adamant / Lonely, but don't. Hydreigon and Darmanitan sit just below Victini
Usage Tips
========
- CB Victini is a wallbreaker, but prediction can make it even deadlier
- Try to get in on a weak resited attack and respond from there
- Victini can put heavy pressure on defensive cores, but is prone to Protect users like Florges making it easier for physical walls to come in
- Best used on offensive-minded teams early-mid game to create holes in defensive core
- Against offensive teams, getting Victini in on Grass-types will almost guarantee something will faint
- More reliant on prediction against defensive teams as it can't switch moves and will likely be faced with a switch-in for any move
- Use V-create with more caution if the opponent has possible Pursuit users
Team Options
========
- It's a wallbreaker, so late-game cleaners are nice
- Mienshao, Hydreigon, Krookodile, and Heracross can all use Scarf effectively
- Defog or Rapid Spin support as Tini hates hazards, especially Rocks
- Mega-Blastoise or Starmie for Spin support and Mega-Aerodactyl or Crobat for Defog
- Hates Knock Off. Mega-Ampharos can deal with most Knock Off users to some extent
Mixed Attacker
########
name: Mixed Attacker
move 1: Psychic
move 2: V-create
move 3: Grass Knot / Thunder
move 4: Dazzling Gleam / Focus Blast
item: Life Orb / Expert Belt
ability: Victory Star
evs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
nature: Hasty
Moves
========
- Want more freedom? Try MixTini
- Still aims to wallbreak, but uses coverage instead of sheer power
- Psychic is the main STAB. Safe move with no drawback (other than the Dark immunity)
- V-create is still the Fire STAB, but is used differently. Use it after shit like Florges or Umbreon come in once Psychic is shown
- Grass Knot trips up Swampert, Slowbro, Mega-Blastoise and friends
- Thunder is an option. Stronger hit on most bulky Waters, but less accurate (Victory Star only helps so much) Can't hit Swampert or Gastrodon though
- Dazzling Gleam nails Dark- and Dragon-types. So, Hydreigon, Mega-Ampharos, and Flygon
- Focus Blast retains coverage on Hydreigon and smacks Mega-Houndoom. Also hits Kyurem slightly harder
Set Details
========
- EV spread maximizes damage output on the special side without gimping V-create
- Use Hasty to give Download users an Attack boost
- Life Orb gives a power boost for every attack made, but Expert Belt is good for bluffing a Choice item
- Blue Flare over V-create for a full special set. Use Timid if you go this route
Usage Tips
========
- Unlike CB, MixTini uses coverage to break defensive cores
- Best to open with Psychic to lure in special walls to dump with V-create
- Best used on offensive teams in need of a wallbreaker with wide coverage and enough Speed to clean up if the chance arises
- Try to get Victini in against defensive threats or Grass-types so it can freely use either of its STAB moves
- When running Expert Belt, waiting until the right time to reveal it is key. Try to make that Swampert or Hydreigon you're trying to lure in feel safe before unleashing the appropriate move
Team Options
========
- Great way to dent or outright KO many different walls
- Physical sweepers such as Mienshao, Mega-Aerodactyl, and Krookodile breathe much easier with the likes of Slowbro, Swampert, and Florges removed
- Hydreigon, Mega-Houndoom, and Mega-Manectric enjoy having Florges and Umbreon weakened or outright KOed
- Defog or Rapid Spin support to keep hazards from ruining Victini's day
- Mega-Blastoise and Starmie can spin reliably
- Mega-Aerodactyl, Mew, and Crobat can provide Defog support
- Something to tank Knock Offs is nice. Florges, Mega-Ampharos, and Chesnaught can do this
Choice Scarf
########
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: V-create
move 2: Bolt Strike
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Trick / Flare Blitz
ability: Victory Star
item: Choice Scarf
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
nature: Jolly
Moves
========
- Uses Victini's raw power and base 100 Speed to revenge kill stuff
- V-create is KOing just about any offensive threat without a resistance
- Bolt Strike can't exactly break bulky Waters, but it will keep them from having a free switch-in
- U-turn is cool. Builds momentum and scouts for checks and counters
- Trick screws over walls like Slowbro and Suicune
- Flare Blitz can let Victini clean up late-game once faster Scarfers and bulky resists are removed
Set Details
========
- Simple EV spread is simple
- Don't use Adamant. Hydreigon and Darmanitan are right below you. You may not be able to KO them, but chipping them down with U-turn can be very useful
Usage Tips
========
- Don't confuse Victini with Darmanitan. Tini is a more reliable revenge killer due to higher Speed and lack of HP recoil from Flare Blitz, letting it last longer
- Unless you use Flare Blitz, Victini is almost strictly a revenge killer
- Unless the offensive mon is a Grass-type or absolutely needs a power boost to be threatening, you'll likely need to wait until a KO occurs to bring in Tini
Team Options
========
- Roserade is amazing with this set. Can set up Spikes to amplify U-turn's switching effect and easily beats most bulky Waters
- Really wants Defog or Rapid Spin support
- Generally better to go for Spin here as Scarf Tini loves Spikes wearing down its defensive counters
- Mega-Blastoise and Starmie are good since both can pressure defensive cores
- Wallbreakers are cool since this Victini lacks the power of other sets
- Choice Band Heracross and Choice Band Mienshao are top choices as both are notorious for forcing out Florges, a defensive Pokemon Victini has no issues with switching into
Other Options
########
- Special Scarf
- Physically-based Mixed Attacker
- Choice Specs
- Trick Room
- Taunt
- Magic Coat
- Bulky WoW
- Thunder Wave
- Final Gambit just to say it is a waste of Victini's potential
Checks & Counters
########
- HA, good luck
- No more jokes. Slowbro fares better than most cuz Regenerator
- Swampert, but no reliable recovery and hates Grass Knot
- Suicune, but CB Bolt Strike and LO / EBelt Grass Knot stings
- Mega Blastoise, but no reliable recovery
- Mega-Ampharos resists most common moves, but Dazzling Gleam can hurt. Relies on RestTalk too
- My god, use Speed or priority to beat Victini
- Honchkrow and Mega-Absol have Sucker Punch and Pursuit to play mind games
- Scarf Mienshao has Knock Off, but Tini can actually take it before a V-create defense drop
- Take advantage of the V-create Speed and defense drops
- Band and Mixed Victini are outsped by most offensive threats after a Speed drop. Scarf Tini is outpaced by most Scarfers after the drop
- Protect from special walls like Florges and Umbreon can make it easier to deal with Victini; let's you always switch-in the right defensive answer unless it's LO or EBelt
