Lord_Sunday Vs Deucalion

Hello, and welcome to your very first taste of the monster that we named Syclant. Syclant was the result of the many hard month work by literally everyone who cared to join the discussion and add their vote to the polls. A few days ago the official Syclant testing server went up and for that we give a big round of applause to DougJustDoug. Information on how to join the server is located here, but don't rush off just yet because you can get a great view of Syclant in action right here, right now!

In short, this battle was conducted on Dougs Create-a-Pokemon Shoddy server. Instructions on how to connect to it are here. Give it a go, you'll have lots of fun!

Just incase you've had your head under a rock for the past few months, Syclant is a top tier OU Poke who maxes out at about 375 Speed. He has the ability to attack from both sides of the spectrum with his Bug and Ice STABs but for now is running a mix set. If you wanna look over it here's the Syclant analysis, which due to the nature of the testing server is a WIP right now. In any case it's on with the show!

Lord_Sunday's Syclant Team

Mixant / Anti-Anti-Spinners-Spinner / Anti-Anti-Spinners-Spinners Anti-Spin / CMCune / SD Lucario / Sundays Weird Blissey with CM + Flamethrower + Grass Knot

Deucalion2's Team

Weavile / Garchomp / Toxistall Cresselia / Wobbuffet / Roserade / Hippowdon

Rules: Evasion Clause, OHKO Clause, Sleep Clause, Species Clause
Deucalion sent out Weavile.
Lord_Sunday sent out Syclant.
Weavile is exerting its pressure!

Hrm. Not a favourable matchup. I'm not running Naive, so he (just) outspeeds me. I've got to run or the star of the show could face an early demise!

Lord_Sunday: weee
Lord_Sunday: better
Lord_Sunday: slightly
Deucalion: Just as a warning.

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.
Lord_Sunday switched in Suicune.
Suicune is exerting its pressure!

Fearing I was running Naive, he too ran to the all-purpose wall Cresselia. This gives me time to get a free CM in.

Deucalion: I may disconnect at random moments.
Lord_Sunday: ok lol
Deucalion: My internet is a bit ooh-er.

Cresselia used Protect.
Cresselia protected itself!
Suicune used Calm Mind.
Suicune's special attack was raised.
Suicune's special defence was raised.

Weird Cresselia...

Cresselia used Charge Beam.
It's super effective!
Suicune lost 10% of its health.
Suicune used Calm Mind.
Suicune's special attack was raised.
Suicune's special defence was raised.

Cresselia used Charge Beam.
Cresselia's attack missed!
Suicune used Roar.
Deucalion switched in Wobbuffet.

Wanting to scout his team a bit more I Roar'd, only to be faced with a hideous beast, Wobbuffet! Right now things don't look great, so my only option is to Roar and hope I don't get Encored along the way.

Lord_Sunday: waah
Lord_Sunday: lol
Lord_Sunday: forgot about him

Wobbuffet used Safeguard.
Wobbuffet is protected by a veil!
Suicune used Roar.
Deucalion switched in Garchomp.

Deucalion: Not, waaaaaaahhh, wooooohhh (buffet).

Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
Suicune used Calm Mind.
Suicune's special attack was raised.
Suicune's special defence was raised.

Aparently he doesn't fear Ice Beam. Which is rightly so as my final move is Rest >.> Still, I'm a 3HKO at best, and a +3 STAB Surf should take a chunk out of the beast, so Suicune gives it her best shot.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
A critical hit!
Suicune lost 106% of its health.
Lord_Sunday's Suicune fainted.
6-5 Deucallion

Lord_Sunday: =='
Deucalion: Ouch.
Deucalion: I feel for ya.

Lord_Sunday switched in Syclant.

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.
Syclant used Blizzard.
Cresselia lost 36% of its health.
Syclant lost 10% of its health.

The multipurpose wall Cresselia eats a Compound Eyes Blizzard and doesn't take nearly as much as I'd wished. It's now a 2HKO from Bug Buzz though, so I hope it can't ruin me within those turns.

Deucalion switched in Wobbuffet.
Syclant used Bug Buzz.
It's super effective!
Wobbuffet lost 95% of its health.
Syclant lost 10% of its health.

Even the mighty Wobbuffet takes a whole lot from STAB Bug Buzz. Unfortunatly that not being a 1HKO comes back to bite me. The residual damage racks up quite fast on something like Syclant. By the time I've disposed with Wobb I've taken over 30% from Life Orb alone.

Deucalion: Damnit.
Deucalion: My team has Syclant weak.
Lord_Sunday: lol

Syclant used Blizzard.
Wobbuffet lost 56% of its health.
Deucalion's Wobbuffet fainted.
Syclant lost 10% of its health.
5-5 tie

Deucalion switched in Weavile.
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
Lord_Sunday switched in Lucario.
Weavile used Aerial Ace.
Lucario lost 32% of its health.

Lucario comes in on it's great typing and plans to hit back with a priority move before it has to take a possible Brick Break.

Deucalion switched in Hippowdon.
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Lucario used Extremespeed.
Hippowdon lost 23% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.

Lord_Sunday switched in Blissey.
Hippowdon used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around your foe's team!

Waah! SR are up, but there was nothing I could do to stop it. Syclant's in big trouble now. He only has one switch in maximum, so I have to use him wisely. Well, at least my Blissey has an unpleasent surprise instore for Hippowdon, who apparently thinks he can stat up on me.

Blissey used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Hippowdon lost 68% of its health.
Hippowdon used Curse.
Hippowdon's speed was lowered.
Hippowdon's attack was raised.
Hippowdon's defence was raised.

I run this weird CM / GK / Flamethrower / Softboiled Blissey, but the results speak for themselves. Unfortunatly, it limits my capacity against certain Dragons.

Deucalion switched in Garchomp.
Blissey used Grass Knot.
Garchomp lost 19% of its health.

I need to switch to my multipurpose wall Dusknoir and force him out with the threat of a WoW or an Ice Punch, neither of which my Dusknoir actually carries. Since I knew everyone on the Create a Pokemon server would be using Syclant and trying to spin spikes away like crazy I modified my Dusknoir to be able to take on even UU Spinners such as Torkoal.

Lord_Sunday switched in Dusknoir.
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Pointed stones dug into Dusknoir.
Dusknoir lost 12% of its health.
Garchomp used Earthquake.

Garchomp used Earthquake.
Dusknoir lost 43% of its health.
Dusknoir used Pain Split.
Dusknoir restored 48% of its health.
Garchomp lost 39% of its health.

Deucalion: Awww...

Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
Dusknoir used Fire Punch.
It's not very effective...
Garchomp lost 8% of its health.

I can't do shit and he knows it. Maybe a fluke burn will prevent me from being forced to use up my last Syclant switch in.

Deucalion: 1%...

Garchomp used Earthquake.
Dusknoir lost 81% of its health.
Lord_Sunday's Dusknoir fainted.
5-4 Deucalion

Lord_Sunday switched in Syclant.
Pointed stones dug into Syclant.
Syclant lost 50% of its health.

Nope, but now Syclant is in and ready to tear up some team. He has exactly two attacks before the Life Orb reciol plus Sandstorm make him faint. Lets make them count buddy!

Waah. There wasn't too much I could do here. Still, time to make the free switch in count with Torkoal.

Lord_Sunday switched in Torkoal.
Pointed stones dug into Torkoal.
Torkoal lost 25% of its health.

Lord_Sunday: /hard to get in
Deucalion: I now want to go post in the Garchomp thread complaining of Syclant uberness.
Deucalion: It has no 100% counter.
Lord_Sunday: lol
Lord_Sunday: well
Lord_Sunday: Tenta
Deucalion: This thread has Syclant weak.
Lord_Sunday: counters mixant
Lord_Sunday: bar earthpower
Lord_Sunday: which is illegal with tail glow
Deucalion: Thunder Fang must do a pretty number though.
Deucalion: But joke, yeah.

Cresselia used Toxic.
Cresselia's attack missed!
Torkoal used Yawn.
Cresselia became drowsy!

Great. I can force Cresselia to switch out every time with Yawn. Now it's time to give my SD Lucario a chance to do some damage

Deucalion switched in Hippowdon.
Hippowdon's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
Lord_Sunday switched in Lucario.
Pointed stones dug into Lucario.
Lucario lost 3% of its health.

Double switch, but Hippowdon is so warn down by it's previous encounter with my Blissey it's hardly still standing.

Lucario used Close Combat.
Hippowdon lost 50% of its health.
Deucalion's Hippowdon fainted.
Lucario's defence was lowered.

Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Roserade used Toxic Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

Dam, like I needed more residual damage. But I was fearing a Scarfed Sleep powder to the face, and still am.

Roserade used Worry Seed.
Blissey used Flamethrower.
It's super effective!
Roserade lost 32% of its health.

Deucalion: That is the wierdest blissey ever.
Lord_Sunday: SundayBliss!
(I wish)
I can't fathom what his stratergy with Worry Seed is, and therefore I fear it... Taking away Natural Cure isn't something I want to let him do on my Blissey expecially with switching costing me a pretty sum of my HP Each time.

Roserade used Worry Seed.
Blissey used Flamethrower.
It's super effective!
Roserade lost 30% of its health.
Deucalion's Roserade fainted.
3-2 Sunday

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.

Lord_Sunday: Though i didn't really come up with it first

Lord_Sunday switched in Torkoal.
Pointed stones dug into Torkoal.
Torkoal lost 25% of its health.
Torkoal was poisoned!
Torkoal was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Cresselia used Toxic.
But it failed!

Cresselia used Protect.
Cresselia protected itself!
Torkoal used Yawn.
Cresselia protected itself!

Posion, SR, Sandstorm. All adding up against poor Torkoal. And all he wants to do is go to sleep!

Cresselia used Moonlight.
Cresselia restored 33% of its health.
Torkoal used Yawn.
Cresselia became drowsy!

Torkaol fights valliently on against the residual damage to force Cresselia out, but in the end is overwhelmed by the Posion. In his last final act, Torkoal lays the Stealth Rocks that could be the deciding factor in this game. He simply hopes it isn't too little, too late.

Deucalion switched in Garchomp.
Torkoal used Stealth Rock.
Torkoal is hurt by poison!
Torkoal lost 12% of its health.

Blissey was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!

Deucallion switched in Cresselia

---Blissy fights bravely on. It knows the only hope for the team now is to bring Cresselia withing the range of one of Lucario's Crunches. If it can do that then Garchomp will easily fall to Extreemspeed.---

Cresselia used Charge Beam!
Blissey lost lol% of it's health!

Lord_Sunday's Blissey fainted.
Cresselia's leftovers restored its health a little!
Cresselia restored 6% of its health.
2-1 Deucalion

Lord_Sunday switched in Lucario.
Pointed stones dug into Lucario.
Lucario lost 3% of its health.

Now here's the moment of truth. Blissey has done her best to weaken down Cresselia, too give Lucraio one last chance to Crunch with all his might. But has it been enough to bring the beast down?

Lucario used Crunch.
It's super effective!
Cresselia lost 44% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
Cresselia used Charge Beam.
Lucario lost 27% of its health.
Lord_Sunday's Lucario fainted.
Deucalion wins!

Deucalion: gg
Lord_Sunday: gg
Deucalion: Chomp on 33%, and Cress on 31%.
Deucalion: Very close.
Lord_Sunday: Yeah.
Deucalion: I love Toxistall Cress.
Deucalion: Best Cress, IMO.

Well, there you have it! Syclant has a stellar time doing what it does best, putting the opponent on the back foot and forcing sacrifices.

Props:
Syclant for doing his job wonderfully. Albeit with a little bit too much residual damage.
Blissey, CM was as cool as always and taking out HIppowdon helped immensley.

Slops:
CM Cune was Haxed when it was on a role >.>
Torkoal really isn't the best spinner to use in OU.
As necesary as Sacrificing WoW on Dusknoir may seem in an envrionment where SYclant will be running around there are inevitably going to be times where you regret it.

Closing word on Syclant:
Forgoe the incredibly powerful STABs for SR immunity in the Mountaineer ability and you've got yourself a powerful reenge killer and late game cleanup Poke. Don't try to use it early on in the game where people are liable to surprise kill you.

I may sound like a Noob but, how did you make your own poke on Shoddy?

Edit:And I can't Connect to those links.

Great warstory, I was secretly rooting for you. :o

But yeah, Syclant makes one of the best late game sweepers ever. He's also perfect for clearing out any dragons.

It seems I have not made myself clear enough about testing Syclant so I'll put it in big, bold letters in the top. People really should read the first paragraph lol >.<

EDIT: There we go, fixed. Mods, I really hope this doesn't border on advertising because that is not what I intended at all. If it is please inform me and I will remove it immedietally.

Cooper, or whoever made the closing pol, you should link this in the first post to show it in action. Also, if anyone else makes more stories, link them.

It's cool seeing a warstory from the new server. I'm so proud... T_T (tears of joy)

Nice battle there. It was fun seeing Garchomp turn tail and run when Syclant showed up. Yes! That's what our Ice/Bug does best. Scare the shit out of rampaging broken should-be-uber Pokemon. Deucalion played residual damage well.

I think you messed up the edit somewhere near the end. Right before your Torkoal fainted, it says Deucalion switched in Garchomp. But then later it says Cresselia was still in play. Something is missing or wrong.

This is the reason why as awesome and flavorful as Compound Eyes is, Mountaineer will always be the better ability. Blizzard is just short of a 2HKO on the things you want it to 2HKO. Ice Beam will barely 3HKO them, but being forced to switch out is a lot easier when you can switch back in. Also, SR weak spinner for a 4x SR weak Pokemon? Claydol sounds much better.

Yep. Toxistall Cress. Protect/Moonlight/Toxic/ChargeBeam. While in theorymon, it is rubbish, it is easily one of the best Pokemon on my team, and has been incredibly useful in all my matches. Toxistall Cress for the win.

6-5 Deucallion

Lord_Sunday: =='
Deucalion: Ouch.
Deucalion: I feel for ya.

My original plan was too let Garchomp take it down a bit, as I have no really good counter, then let Wobb revenge kill it. I suppose I could have switched Roserade in, but I was scared of IB, and Roserade needs to be able to last at least 1 turn to Toxic Spike.

Lord_Sunday switched in Syclant.

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.
Syclant used Blizzard.

Syclant lost 10% of its health.

The multipurpose wall Cresselia eats a Compound Eyes Blizzard and doesn't take nearly as much as I'd wished. It's now a 2HKO from Bug Buzz though, so I hope it can't ruin me within those turns.
As I said, future of walling. Takes a hit like a man... urrr... woman... ur... psycho duck. Plus, it used the optimum defense/hp ev balance set, using that ever so useful calculator. I was stalling the residual damage out.

Deucalion switched in Wobbuffet.
Syclant used Bug Buzz.
It's super effective!

At this point, I was really just stalling Syclant out. My team has no good Syclant counter who can switch in safely, so I sacrificed Wobuffet, as I have another revenge killer, Weavile, who will serve my cause better than the whobblesome blue menace. (Who, incidentally, is not Uber. Top OU, but not Uber. Perfectly killable)

Hippowdon lost 50% of its health.
Deucalion's Hippowdon fainted.
Lucario's defence was lowered.
Lucario's special defence was lowered.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.

BREAKING NEWS: Hungry Hungry Hippos ltd goes bankrupt!

3-3 Tie

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.
Cresselia used Protect.
Cresselia protected itself!
Lucario used Crunch.
Cresselia protected itself!

Deucalion switched in Roserade.
Lucario used Crunch.
Roserade lost 55% of its health.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.

Lord_Sunday switched in Blissey.
Pointed stones dug into Blissey.

My strategy is all out Toxication with Roserade. Worry Seed/Toxic Spikes/Toxic/Leaf Storm. It was more of a filler, "I'm going to make an effort not to be completely OU" pokemon. Yes, this team is old. When I made it, Rose was still BL.

Roserade used Worry Seed.
Blissey used Flamethrower.
It's super effective!
Roserade lost 30% of its health.
Deucalion's Roserade fainted.

That was a misclick. I meant to use Toxic, as Blissey had lost Natural Cure, but my finger slipped.

3-2 Sunday

Deucalion switched in Cresselia.

Lord_Sunday: Though i didn't really come up with it first

Lord_Sunday switched in Torkoal.
Pointed stones dug into Torkoal.
Torkoal lost 25% of its health.
Torkoal was poisoned!
Torkoal was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Cresselia used Toxic.
But it failed!

Cresselia used Protect.
Cresselia protected itself!
Torkoal used Yawn.
Cresselia protected itself!

Posion, SR, Sandstorm. All adding up against poor Torkoal. And all he wants to do is go to sleep!
Psycho Duck versus Flaming Turtle!

Otherwise entitled "The US Elections!"

Lord_Sunday's Torkoal fainted.
2-2 Tie

Lord_Sunday switched in Blissey.
Pointed stones dug into Blissey.
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Blissey was poisoned!
Blissey was poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!

---Blissy fights bravely on. It knows the only hope for the team now is to bring Cresselia withing the range of one of Lucario's Crunches. It if can do that then Garchomp will easily fall to Extreemspeed.---

If that had been a critical hit, he would have killed Cresselia, and then an extreme speed would have killed Garchomp outright. Or, if Charge Beam had missed, at a 70% accuracy rate, he would have won as well. So close, and yet so far.

Toxistall Cress, for being the best wall ever
Garchomp, for being just generally Uber in everything except Uberness.
Hippowdon, for just generally helping out with SR/Sandstorm.

Slops:
CM Cune was Haxed when it was on a role >.>
Torkoal really isn't the best spinner to use in OU.
As necesary as Sacrificing WoW on Dusknoir may seem in an envrionment where SYclant will be running around there are inevitably going to be times where you regret it.
I don't like hax, even when it's for me.
Misclick in Roserade, who was fairly useless anyway.
Wobuffet for doing nothing at all to help, and generally getting pwnzord by Syclants. No way is it Uber.

Closing word on Syclant:
Forgoe the incredibly powerful STABs for SR immunity in the Mountaineer ability and you've got yourself a powerful reenge killer and late game cleanup Poke. Don't try to use it early on in the game where people are liable to surprise kill you.

Is it time to rate teams mentioning that they could be a Syclant weak?

I think so, it helped making Wobby useless.

Good match, I enjoyed reading.

My precious Syclant is all grown up now. Oh, this just brought a tear to my eye. *wipes eye*

Hahaha, wonderful warstory. Excellent to say the very least.
