Whimsicott (Sunny Day Support) (QC 3/3)(GP 2/2)

[SET]
name: Sunny Day Support
move 1: Sunny Day
move 2: Taunt
move 3: U-turn / Memento
move 4: Encore / Memento / Leech Seed
item: Heat Rock
ability: Prankster
nature: Impish
evs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD

 • Whimsicott is on the best Sun setter due to Prankster Sunny Day + U-Turn/Memento
 • Prankster Taunt prevents the foe from boosting its stats, setting up Entry Hazards, or changing the weather
 • Is much faster than other Sunny Day setters, allowing it to immediately switch out with U-Turn
 • Has a plethora of support moves, meaning that it isn't dead weight after it has set up the sun.

[SET COMMENTS]

This set capitalizes on Whimsicott's Prankster ability and access to Sunny Day to make a formidable weather setter. Prankster is its biggest advantage over other sun setters, as it allows Whimsicott to almost always set up sun before the opponent can react. Once Whimsicott sets up sun, it should either use U-turn and switch into a teammate that can take advantage of the sun or use Memento to allow a free setup turn for a sun sweeper. Whimsicott should not be setting up sun on offensive behemoths, such as Gallade and Druddigon, as doing so will usually leave Whimsicott fainted due to its fragility. Instead, Whimsicott should be setting up the sun on weaker, defensive Pokemon, such as Ferroseed and Alomomola.

Taunt is a useful utility move that Whimsicott has access to, as it prevents setup sweepers such as Kabutops from boosting their stats. As previously mentioned, U-turn allows Whimsicott to switch out once it has set up the sun while Memento allows a sun sweeper a free setup turn. The last slot is a toss-up between Encore, Memento, and Leech Seed. Encore is the recommended option, as it can lock the foe into an unfavorable move, giving Whimsicott more opportunities to set up. Memento is once again an option to give sun sweepers free setup opportunities. Leech Seed can be used, however, to provide a way of healing for Whimsicott and its teammates once it has switched out.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

The given EV spread allows Whimsicott to take weaker physical moves, such as Spiritomb's Shadow Sneak and Feroseed's Gyro Ball. Despite maximum investment in Defense, Whimsicott still cannot take on powerful physical attackers, so always be cautious. Whimsicott can use Stun Spore to paralyze the foe. This is extremely beneficial for slower Pokemon without Chlorophyll, such as Entei, which is given the opportunity to slaughter the foe's team with a Choice Band-boosted Flare Blitzes. Toxic can be used to provide residual damage, but it is generally inferior to Leech Seed, as it does not recover Whimsicott's health. Due to Whimsicott's lack of recovery, it is recommended to have a Wish user such as Alomomola to keep it healthy.

There are two types of Pokemon that benefit from Whimsicott's sun support: Pokemon with the Chlorophyll ability and Fire-types. Chlorophyll users, including Sawsbuck, Exeggutor, Shiftry, and Victreebel, can make use of the sun Whimsicott provides as well as a potential free setup turn from Memento. Effective Fire-type partners include Charizard, Emboar, Moltres, Entei, and Typhlosion, as all of these Pokemon enjoy their Fire STAB being boosted by the sun. It is also recommended to have another sun setter, such as Regirock or Uxie, just in case Whimsicott faints or sacrifices itself with Memento.

[SET COMMENTS]
 • With this set, Whimsicott can support its team by setting up Sun and immediately switch out by using U-Turn or give a Sun sweeper a chance to sweep with Memento
 • Prankster is Whimsicott's biggest niche over other Sun setters, as it give Whimsicott the ability to gaurentee that Sun will be set up
 • Due its fragility, Whimiscott should not be setting up Sun on offensive behemoths such as Gallade or Druddigon, but rather on weaker defensive Pokemon, such as Ferroseed and Alomomola
 • Taunt prevents the foe from setting up on Whimsicott
 • U-Turn allows Whimsicott to immediately switch out after it has setup the Sun
 • Memento give a Sun Sweeper such as Growth Victreebel a greater chance to sweepe
 • Encore is the recommended option in the final slot, as it gives Whimsicott more opportunities to set up Sunny Day
 • Memento is once again an option to give Sun sweepers a free setup oppurtunity
 • Leech Seed can be used to provide a way of healing for Whimsicott and its teammates
[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
 • Given EV spread maximizes Whimsicott's Defense, allowing it to take weaker physical hits, such as Spiritomb's Shadow Sneak and Feroseed's Gyro Ball
 • Stun Spore to paralyze the opponent for a Pokemon without Chlorophyll, such as Entei
 • Toxic for residual damage
 • Whimsicott lacks any reliable form or recovery, so Wish support from Aomomola is recommended
 • Chlorophyll abusers such as Exegguttor, Shifty, Sawsbuck and Victreebel are excellent abusers of the sun that Whimsicott provides
 • Fire-types such as Emboar, Typholsion, Charizard and Entei are also excellent abusers of the Sun
 • Having another Sun setter such as Regirock is recommended just in case Whimsicott faints

Memento needs to be second slash on slots 3 and 4, the single best move to allow a sun sweeper to set up and having the choice between U-turn and Memento is wonderful.

Before I forget I'll give a quick check for this.
 • Kabutops isn't a good example of a strong mon because Whimsicott (in theory) could have Giga Drain to just instantly kill it. Add something else that is strong (that doesn't hit Whimsicott for Super Effective damage)
 • Change the nature to impish to have slightly stronger U-turns. Foul Play isn't doing anything anyway.
 • You don't really need Knock Off to be honest, especially when it is not boosted by Prankster (this could be bad) and in general Knock Off is not really going to help weather sweepers very much. Add onto Leech Seed that, once Whimsicott switches, Leech Seed healing continues for its teammates.
 • I'd also change Shiftry to Victreebel because its a more threatening weather sweeper. On a similar note, its spelled "chlorophyll."
 • I wouldn't say Whimicott can't set it up reliably (because it always will outspeed the foe) but I would instead put that it is a good idea to have a back-up setter for full sun teams just in case Whimsicott faints.
 • Add that Stun Spore can slow down the opponent for a non-chlorophyll mon.
Add these and I'll stamp it.

 • be sure to mention that one of the main/best reasons to use Whimsicott as a Sunny Day setter is because of prankster, which practicially ensures it'll be able to set up sun at least once and against foes other teammates probably would fail against, this is incredibly important and can clutch games at times.
 • I'm not sure if i'd mention alomomola's Waterfall as a weak attack Whimsicott can take with maximum defense evs because due to the resist i'm pretty sure whimsicott would be able to take it really well otherwise, maybe replace that with a mention of say Spiritomb's Shadow Sneak/Pursuit/Sucker Punch or something?
 • I wouldnt entirely remove shiftry as a sun sweeper since its actually a quite decent Pokemon, but victreebel definitely needs to be mentioned as a teammate, especially given a possible memento makes it much easier to set up a growth. Mention of Sawsbuck could also be considered given its very strong in the sun
 • maybe mention Typhlosion and Charizard along with the other Fire-types? Especially the latter, Solar Power specs or even scarf Fire Blasts hurt x_x
implement these changes and i think this will be ready for approval

Add Moltres in AC as a teammate since Sunny Day support allows it to run SolarBeam and 2HKO the entire tier with the right move. Otherwise, good work. Make that addition and consider this

Remember your serial commas. Also, the capitalizations of sun were all over the place??
