Wigglytuff

Overview
########

Wigglytuff's niche lies in its access to Stealth Rock and Competitive ability, which discourages the use of Defog and Intimidate. Though its Special Attack is only mediocre, at +2, it can hit very hard, especially with its variety of special attacks that allows it to hit the majority of the tier neutrally or super effectively. It is immune to Dragon-type moves, such as Outrage, allowing it to fit well on teams that are weak to Dragon-types. However, Wigglytuff's poor Speed leaves it unable to deal much damage to offensive teams, even when boosted.

Moves
========

Stealth Rock allows Wigglytuff to rack up residual damage on the opposing team and forces the foe to use Defog, giving Wigglytuff a +2 boost thanks to Competitive. Hyper Voice is a STAB move and allows Wigglytuff to beat Substitute users, such as Ninetales and Gogoat. Dazzling Gleam is a spammable STAB move that allows Wigglytuff to deal with Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon, such as Poliwrath and Mightyena. Focus Blast allows Wigglytuff to hit Pokemon that resist both of Wigglytuff's STAB moves, such as Steel-types such as Probopass; it also allows Wigglytuff to KO common leads such as Aurorus, Piloswine, Golem, and Carracosta.

Set Details
========

Maximun Special Attack investment along with a Modest nature and a Life Orb maximizes Wigglytuff's damage output. Leftovers can be used over Life Orb to increase Wigglytuff's longevity; however, Wigglytuff then loses the additional damage output provided by Life Orb. Focus Sash is another option that allows Wigglytuff to check threats such as Pawniard by taking a hit and KOing the foe. 252 Speed EVs allow Wigglytuff to Speed tie with Pokemon such as Adamant Marowak and Golem. A Timid nature can also be used to allow Wigglytuff to outspeed neutral-natured Pokemon with base 45 Speed, such as Marowak and Golem.

Usage Tips
========

Wigglytuff works best early- and mid-game, when it can set up Stealth Rock and threaten Defog users. Wigglytuff should only set up Stealth Rock once threatening leads such as Rampardos and Roselia are KOed, however. Switch Wigglytuff in on Defog for a Special Attack boost, but be wary of status move users such as Togetic. As Wigglytuff is very slow, it doesn't mind switching into Sticky Web, which gives it a +2 Special Attack boost. Avoid staying in on powerful attackers, especially if they are faster than Wigglytuff and the opponent's Defogger has not yet been KOed.

Team Options
========

Wigglytuff fits well on balanced teams thanks to its ability to punish Defog users and pressure its foes. Fighting-types, such as Poliwrath and Machoke, make for good teammates, as they can deal with Steel-types, which Wigglytuff struggles to beat, and can take hits from Steel- and Poison-types, which Wigglytuff is weak to. Ghost-types such as Misdreavus and Gourgeist are great partners for Wigglyuff, as they can spinblock, allowing Wigglytuff's Stealth Rock to remain on the field. Spikes and Toxic Spikes users such as Roselia and Whirlipede work well with Wigglytuff, as Wigglytuff discourages the use of Defog, allowing the entry hazards to stay on the field.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

As Wigglytuff has good bulk, a cleric set with Wish can be used, though it is outclassed by Lickilicky. Magic Coat is another possible option, as Wigglytuff is commonly used as a lead, allowing it to bounce back the foe's entry hazards, Taunt, and status moves. Thunder Wave can be used with Focus Sash, as it allows Wigglytuff to cripple offensive threats such as Pawniard and Ninetales. Wigglytuff can use other coverage moves, such as Thunderbolt to take on Pokemon such as Pelipper and Swanna, Ice Beam to take on Jumpluff and Marowak, and Fire Blast to take on Avalugg and Roselia.

Checks & Counters
===================

**Special Walls**: Special walls such as Grumpig and Lickilicky can take hits easily from Wigglytuff and inflict status on it or wear it down with an attacking move and prevent Wigglytuff from wearing them down by using Wish in return.

**Fast Attackers**: As Wigglytuff is relatively slow, it has trouble dealing with faster attackers such as Pawniard and Rapidash, which can take on Wigglytuff with ease.

**Residual Damage**: Residual damage from entry hazards, status, and Life Orb can quickly wear Wigglytuff down.

**Rapid Spin Users**: Spinners such as Torkoal and Armaldo can deal with Wigglytuff easily, as they can remove Wigglytuff's Stealth Rock and Wigglytuff cannot discourage the use of Rapid Spin.

Overview

  • Has a great niche with access to Stealth Rock along with Competitive. i mean wiggly is a b- threat w/ severe competition for a lead slot and bad typing so i wouldnt call its niche 'great'
  • Able to switch in on Defog users for a +2 boost in Special Attack. condense w/ above point and say that it discourages Defog and Intimidate users switching in (only ones are luxray arbok and stantler really but w/e)
  • Great bulk along with decent Special Attack.
  • Only two weaknesses in Steel- and Poison-type.
  • Immunities to Ghost- and Dragon-types.
  • Only two resistances in Bug- and Dark-type.
don't list the typechart, you should provide specific examples. for example, common mons such as roselia, pawniard, etc. can threaten it w/ super effective moves. it doesn't really check much aside from like zweilous, fraxure and missy (altho it can't do much back to it) so i don't even know if that's worth mentioning
  • Lack in Speed holds Wigglytuff back from tearing through offensive teams, even at +2.
would change 'tearing through' to 'doing much damage to' as this overview hypes wiggly wayy too much

  • Stealth Rock allows you to rack up damage on your opponent's team and it forces them to use Defog, giving you a +2 boost.
  • Hyper Voice is one of your main STAB moves that can hit Pokemon behind a Substitute, such as Ninetales and Gogoat. i guess raichu is a better example??
  • Dazzling Gleam is a very spammable STAB move that is able to take on Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Poliwrath and Mightyena.
  • Focus Blast is a great coverage move that allows you to hit Pokemon that resist both of your STAB moves, such as Steel-types like Probopass.

Set Details
========
  • Max Special Attack along with a Modest nature and a Life Orb allows Wigglytuff to deal as much damage as possible, helping it deal with Defog users.
  • With max Speed, Wigglytuff reaches 189, allowing it to speed tie with Pokemon such as Marowak and Golem. p sure this is adamant golem so might wanna mention that
  • Wigglytuff uses Stealth Rock, which forces in opposing Defog users, which gives you the chance to get a +2 boost.

Usage Tips
========
  • Wait to setup Stealth Rock until threatening leads are gone, such as Rampardos and Roselia.
  • Switch Wigglytuff in against Defog users once hazards are up for a +2 boost, but be weary of status inducers such as Togetic.
  • Avoid staying in on strong attackers, especially if they are faster than Wigglytuff. isn't this meant to get hazards up and discourage defog? wouldn't really encourage saving it till lategame unless they have aa defog user in the back

Team Options
========
  • Wigglytuff fits well on offensive and bulky offensive teams due to it's ability to stop Defog and keep pressure on the opponent's team.
  • Wigglytuff appreciates a Fighting-type like Poliwrath or Machoke to help it deal with Steel-types that it struggles to beat.
  • Wigglytuff also appreciates a Steel-type to take on hits from it's two weaknesses, Steel- and Poison-types.

Other Options
########
  • Since Wigglytuff has a large HP stat and decent bulk, a cleric set with Wish could be used, although it is outclassed by Lickilicky.
  • Magic Coat is another option since you often lead with Wigglytuff, because it allows you to bounce back opponent's entry hazards, Taunt, and status moves.
  • With Wigglytuff's access to a diverse and large movepool, it has options to use other coverage moves such as Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Fire Blast.

Checks & Counters
########

**Special Walls**: Special walls such as Grumpig and Lickilicky can take hits well from Wigglytuff and in return, inflict status on it or wear it down by using Wish. they don't wear it down by using wish, they do so and heal themselves by using wish so wiggly cant wear em down

**Fast Attackers**: Since Wigglytuff is relatively slow, it has trouble outspeeding faster attackers such as Pawniard and Flareon, who can deal a lot of damage to Wigglytuff. rapidash is a better example than flar i feel

**Residual Damage**: Residual damage such as hazards and status along with Life Orb take a toll on Wigglytuff quickly and wear it down.

**Physical Attackers**: With Wigglytuff's poor base 45 Defense stat, it has trouble taking hits from strong physical attackers such as Pawniard, Dodrio, and Flareon.

i feel like this maybe overrates wiggly as it honestly is pretty niche..

Also, is Magic Coat not worthy of a slash anywhere? It seems quite useful in lead matchups vs. like Golem which can't threaten wiggly immediately anyway

implemented those changes Kingler12345 . raichu doesn't run sub so i dont know why that would be a better example and i have magic coat in oo. i feel like its dual STAB + focus blast for steels is too important. we could wait for other QC input though.

I wouldn't call its bulk 'great'. Due to its low defenses it's only about as bulky as Marowak (Marowak's physical bulk). Talk a little bit about its incredible coverage that allows it to hit like the whole tier super effectively.

Set Details
========
Mention Timid to outspeed Marowak, Golem, and Armaldo (Adamant variants) and outspeed Pokemon that have just enough speed for base 45 without boosting natures ( roselia, pelipper, poliwrath, etc). Mention specifically that it's Competitive which grants Wigglytuff the boost from Defog. Also mention Leftovers. Don't slash them though.

Usage Tips
========
Wigglytuff works best early / mid game to set up rocks and punish defog by breaking walls / forcing offense to pretty much sack a mon with boosted insane coverage.

Team Options
========
Punish is a better word because it doesn't really 'stop' it. Mention Ghosts to spinblock for the rocks Wigglytuff sets up.

Other Options
########
Say what targets Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and Fire Blast have.

Checks & Counters
########
Wigglytuff's Defense is only slightly lower than its Special Defense so I don't think you need to give it a specific mention.

Pretty simple mon with just one thing it can do effectively so there's not that much to talk about lol.

For Usage Tips, note that since Wigglytuff IS slow, it doesn't mind Sticky Web on its field; it actually appreciates the automatic boost from Competitive from switching in.

Note good offensive/defensive teammates as well when mentioning Steel-types, as you mention that it also works on offensive/defensive teams (tbf, more like balanced). As Wigglytuff also discourages Defog, you can also take note that (T)Spikers are good teammates as well.

Armaldo, and to a lesser extent Torkoal, deserve to be mentioned at the end of C&C, as they do spin the hazards that Wigglytuff tries to protect. While not outright counters or checks, they do remove one of the major assets of using Wigglytuff (Hazard removing deterrent) so they deserve to be mentioned as spinners.

Mention that focus blast is also useful for its coverage against common leads such as aurorus golem piloswine carracosr
Mention focus sash in set details instead of leftovers, it is pretty cool. Also thunder wave in oo since especially coupled with sash it can cripple a check
