And so it Begins...

With everything ready to go, the guide says you can find the first of these keys in the ruins of a great city, known here as Mera. Without wasting any more time, you head down to the Mera ruins. On the way there you start wondering "What is it that I want to wish for?" There are many things you can get you muse, money, fame, friends, it seems that Jirachi's power would be limitless. Before you're able to finish deciding, you're already on the outskirts of the ruined city. The green valley stretches out for a long ways, before culminating in a coastal city of red brick and black cobbelstone. If the legends are true, it is said that legendary Pokemon were responsible for the destruction. Nowadays, the city is known for little more than hostile Pokemon and trainers willing to get treasure at any cost.

Do you have what it takes to defeat all competition and claim Jirachi's wish for yourself?

Area 1: City Outskirts

"Hello, I'm Hiker Morris, and I am your guide for this adventure battle! If you have any questions, just ask!"

You exit the forest into a wide valley full of greenery. The city is still a walk away, but out of the corner of your eye, you see somebody digging a hole in the distance. Still, he isn't blocking your way or anything, so you could probably pass him. What will you do?

With your parents and Siddhartha out fighting in a gym match (or getting groceries, I'm not quite sure why they left earlier), and Lee off running his tournament, it looks like I'm in charge of you two. Now, I've managed to get myself on to several trainer-exclusive mailing lists, and received a very intriguing letter the other day."
"What did it say, Ivetta?"
"Was it a story? We love your stories!"
"No, no, Alina, it wasn't a story - that's not what the mail is for. The mail is for invitations, and that is exactly what this letter was! In fact, it was an invitation to find a very rare Pokemon, Jirachi! We're going to make our own story!"
"Wow! We're going to part of Ivetta's stories!"
"Just stick close to me and be careful. You saw some of those scary people in the mansion, let's do our best to stay away from them, and focus on the prize of meeting a wonderful fellow like Jirachi!"
"Yaaaaay!"
"What about that guy?"
"Trust me, Alexis, we've met before, and I only see good things coming from him. Plus, you can always trust a trainer with Aromatisse - very good taste. He'll make a nice teammate, at least."
"Woah...what is that guy doing?"
"Is he trying to find Jirachi too?"
"You know what I said about staying away from those scary people? Scratch that, we're going to do something exciting!"

Avnomke leads the way, with his Aromatisse and the Stratons' Vivillon following behind. The children stay very close to the Vivillon as the group approaches the digger. It takes a few minutes, but eventually they get within earshot.

"Dig-dig-dig to the center of the earth-earth-earth!"

"Master, can you please stop attempting to rap? It's annoying."

"Says who? Anyway, I just know there's treasure around here somewhere. My treasure sense is tingling!"

The youngster is deep in the hole by the time the group reaches him, when they hear an exclamation.

"Ah come on! It was just an ancient coin! It's probably not even much money. Come on Diggersby, we need to find---oh what the!"

He pokes his head out of the hole, noticing you, then climbs out, dusts his shorts off, then says.

"You guys must be with the competition yah? What are a couple of children doing here...hey wait are you a team of three people!? That's not even fair!"

"Well, two of them are toddlers, so it's really 1.5 people. They don't stand a chance against us!"

"Yeah that's right! I do feel a little bad about fighting kids, but if it gets one team out of the competition then I suppose I can make an exception! Let's go!"

Without bothering to speak any more words, the two of them get ready for combat!

Just no respect or manners. Anyways, I'll see if I can calm this youngster and his Diggersby down enough so that we can talk to him like real people. You two stay safe."

Area 2: Ominous Tower

With the mysterious trainer having run away, the two trainers go towards the city.

Eventually, they reach a rather ominous looking tower, reaching high into the sky, it's tall enough that it even breaches the clouds above. You think that you have a long climb ahead of you, until you notice that the entrance to the tower seems to be sealed. Your guide then chimes in:

"This must be the first challenge. You see those slots over there? They require key cards of three different colors: Red, Blue, and Green. Once you have them all, you can open the door, and find the treasure."

With those words of advice, you now consider where to head next. To the west, there's a cavern that goes deep into the earth. To the east, the coast stretches out ahead of you. Finally to the north, you see a much smaller tower.

(I'm not being a hypocrite when I say Leethoof shouldn't disappear in the middle of the run. Honest!)

Area 5: Sky Nest

Your walking brings you to the remains of a rather old tower, apparently used for guarding the city in days past. Part of what appears to be a castle wall is connected to it. Intrigued, you head up the tower, whose stone steps are in surprisingly good condition until you reach the top.

Once on the top, you see that the wall, or rather, what's left of it, has created a narrow pathway to a small circular outcropping. In the distance you can see what appears to be a birds nest, atop which a Talonflame is sleeping! From this distance you can also see something glinting in the nest.

The group decides to grab the glinting object around the Talonflame by sneaking up on it.

Talonflame is sleeping...

Ivetta attempts to put the Talonflame to sleep...but he's already asleep so it doesn't really do a whole lot.

While Avnomke waits around to prepare Aromatisse to sneak up on the talonflame, the kids decide to sneak up and grab the object, a shiny Red Key Card. It seems the Talonflame hasn't noticed, so they were successful.

Unfortunately, on the return trip back, Aromatisse also moves in to try and sneak up on the Talonflame. I say unfortunately, because the rickety bridge of stone connecting the two areas wasn't strong enough to hold both children and the Aromatisse at the same time, and thus the bridge collapsed!
