Ahhh... good to be analyzing you again, old friend =). Can't believe Wobbuffet was my first C&C work, and I did it like 6 years ago lol (and it was just team options stuff too!)

[OVERVIEW]

At first glance, Wobbuffet might seem like a rather unremarkable trapper compared to Mega Gengar, but, thanks to its disruptive movepool and good bulk, Wobbuffet is effective at dealing with certain kinds of Pokemon that Mega Gengar has more issues with, such as Choice users and fast offensive threats. However, what truly makes Wobbuffet dangerous isn't what sets it apart from Mega Gengar but, rather, what the two can do together when joining forces! Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar together can be a dastardly duo that horrifies defensive teams with Perish Song. Against offensive teams, Wobbuffet's and Mega Gengar's ability to trap different threats can put a massive amount of pressure on your opponent!

Unfortunately, Wobbuffet heavily relies on its teammates to finish the job, meaning that when it's left as the last Pokemon, Wobbuffet can potentially lose the game by becoming easy setup fodder. Its low Speed, lack of recovery, and mediocre defensive typing mean that Wobbuffet will often only have the capability to take down one Pokemon per match. These flaws make Wobbuffet a rather specialized Pokemon that won't fit on every team. However, with a specialization as deadly as trapping, Wobbuffet should never be taken as a joke when encountered in Team Preview, as few Pokemon excel at taking away choices as well as Wobbuffet does!

[SET]
name: \(>_<)7
move 1: Encore
move 2: Counter
move 3: Mirror Coat
move 4: Destiny Bond
item: Sitrus Berry / Custap Berry
ability: Shadow Tag
nature: Bold
evs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Encore is Wobbuffet's big selling point, locking the foe into a move for three turns with no chance of switching out thanks to Shadow Tag! Counter allows Wobbuffet to deal massive damage when hit by a physical attack, while Mirror Coat shatters foes using special attacks. Destiny Bond rounds out the set, allowing Wobbuffet to ease prediction by putting setup sweepers in a "get KOed or set up on" situation. Safeguard is usually a poor option, but it can be considered if your team is especially weak to status moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Defense and Special Defense is recommended for the most bulk, because Wobbuffet's HP stat is so massive that investing in it won't do as much good. The extra 4 Speed EVs give Wobbuffet a chance to Speed tie with Slowbro, while a Bold nature lets Wobbuffet take physical hits better, suiting the physical dominance of Battle Spot Singles.

Sitrus Berry gives Wobbuffet a longer presence on the battlefield due to the 25% recovery it offers, which can be especially useful against more defensive teams. Custap Berry, on the other hand, is a more high-risk, high reward option. Custap Berry lets Wobbuffet move first when it's at 25% of its health (which, in this case, is 66 HP). When combined with Destiny Bond, this gives Wobbuffet the potential to take down two Pokemon in a match! However, this also makes Wobbuffet more vulnerable to extremely powerful attacks that don't quite get it into Custap Berry's activation range, as Sitrus Berry won't be there to cushion the blow for it.

Usage Tips
========

Wobbuffet might have good bulk, but switching it in recklessly trying to trap foes isn't usually a wise decision. Wobbuffet's lack of recovery means that it's usually only guaranteed one KO per match, so keeping Wobbuffet healthy earlier in the game is a good idea until you can decide what Pokemon you want Wobbuffet to take out. This isn't to say that Wobbuffet needs to be saved for the late-game, though; if you find a good opportunity to get Wobbuffet in safely, such as after a KO or against a defensive Pokemon, don't hesitate to bring it in. Just remember: when using Wobbuffet early in the game, setting up sweeps is riskier due to potential checks, so it's sometimes best to simply launch off powerful attacks with your setup sweeper instead.

Wobbuffet's safest option is to switch into defensive targets that can't do much to it beyond giving it a status ailment. Use Encore to make them setup fodder for another switch-in or use Counter or Mirror Coat to eventually KO them if they attack. Good targets for Wobbuffet include defensive Porygon2, Cresselia, Hippowdon, Ferrothorn, Slowbro, and Suicune. The next best targets for Wobbuffet are Choice Scarf Pokemon, with two of the most common targets being Landorus-T and Rotom-W. Wobbuffet usually shouldn't directly switch into these Pokemon until you know they are carrying a Choice Scarf, and be aware that Rotom-W and Rotom-H often carry Trick, which can cripple Wobbuffet. Once Choice Scarf Pokemon are locked into a move, they become easy targets for Wobbuffet to defeat with Counter or Mirror Coat! Choice Band and Choice Specs Pokemon are also vulnerable to Wobbuffet, but because they are occasionally able to 2HKO Wobbuffet, it's usually best for Wobbuffet to revenge kill them instead.

When Wobbuffet is forced to face powerful setup sweepers such as Blaziken and Life Orb Garchomp, using Encore is risky, as their attacks can already 2HKO Wobbuffet. Instead, using Destiny Bond is the safer choice. Because Wobbuffet is so slow, Destiny Bond will remain activated when the foe moves again. This puts the foe in a tough situation: either KO Wobbuffet and get taken down with Destiny Bond or avoid a KO and become setup fodder thanks to Encore! Using Destiny Bond against potential mixed attackers such as Mega Salamence is also wise because predicting the wrong move with Counter or Mirror Coat can be devastating for Wobbuffet.

Team Options
========

Mega Gengar should almost always be used with Wobbuffet. When paired together, Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar form a dastardly duo that severely punishes defensive Pokemon and foes locked into support moves from Encore. Perish Song Mega Gengar is usually the best variant to run. The first method of unleashing their madness is for Wobbuffet to use Encore on a support move or a Normal- or Fighting-type move for Mega Gengar to switch in on so it can start the Perish Song cycle. The second method is for Mega Gengar to use Perish Song on a defensive Pokemon and then switch to Wobbuffet to absorb their attacks, as Wobbuffet has much higher bulk than Mega Gengar. Also, note that Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar don't always have to be used in the same match: using one or the other can be useful against offensive teams, which are not as vulnerable to Perish Song. Wobbuffet tends to do better against fast, offensive threats and Choice Scarf users, while Mega Gengar tends to deal with slower threats more efficiently. If your team can't afford the loss in coverage, other Mega Gengar variants are still good teammates, though they aren't as effective against defensive Pokemon.

Almost any setup sweeper in Battle Spot Singles will benefit from Wobbuffet's support, but sweepers that are especially valuable to focus on are Pokemon that offer immunities and resistances that can take advantage of Wobbuffet's Encore. Great examples include Garchomp (for its Electric immunity), Azumarill (for its Dragon-type immunity and Dark-type resistance), Thundurus (for its Ground and paralysis immunity), Talonflame (for its Ground and burn immunity), and Blaziken (for its Dark-type resistance and burn immunity). Also, as using both Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar isn't the best choice against every opponent, having a backup Mega Pokemon that enjoys Wobbuffet's support is a reasonable option. Strong offensive Mega Pokemon that benefit from Wobbuffet's support include Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Salamence.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

If your team is vulnerable status ailments, Wobbuffet can use Safeguard and Lum Berry together to ruin attempts at status. If especially worried about sleep, Wobbuffet can use Safety Goggles to defeat Breloom and Vivillon. Focus Sash can let Wobbuffet nab a surprise KO on a sweeper, but it will leave Wobbuffet useless for the rest of the battle. Charm is notable for making Perish Song trapping with Mega Gengar and setting up sweeps easier, but it only works on physically offensive Pokemon, making it a rather situational move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pokemon with Shed Shell**: Shed Shell is uncommon outside of Blissey, but it is an extremely effective response to Wobbuffet, ruining its trapping strategies with Mega Gengar.

**Pokemon with Taunt**: Taunt blocks Wobbuffet's Encore, making it easy setup fodder. Common offensive users of the move include Tyranitar and Gyarados, while Mandibuzz and Skarmory are effective defensive Taunt users.

**Pokemon with Magic Bounce**: While uncommon, Mega Sableye and Espeon are immune to Wobbuffet's Encore thanks to Magic Bounce.

**Special Dark-types and Physical Ghost-types**: Mirror Coat doesn't affect specially attacking Dark-types, making Hydregion and mixed Tyranitar effective answers as long as they avoid Destiny Bond. In a similar manner, physical Aegislash is unaffected by Counter.

**U-turn, Volt Switch, and Baton Pass Users**: U-turning to a Ghost-type is an effective way to escape Wobbuffet's Counter and Encore, while using Volt Switch to bring in a Dark-type avoids Mirror Coat and Encore. Baton Pass isn't as common, but thanks to its lack of damage, it's even more effective against Wobbuffet, letting the foe switch in without a risk of getting KOed.

**Ghost-types**: While Wobbuffet isn't actually OHKOed by unboosted Ghost-types, these Pokemon are immune to Shadow Tag, allowing them to escape and KO Wobbuffet later when it's weakened.

**Pursuit Users**: Although Pursuit is uncommon, Scizor and Tyranitar can use it to deal massive damage to any escaping Wobbuffet.

**Knock Off Users**: While Wobbuffet will usually OHKO Knock Off users with Counter, it also means Wobbuffet won't be able to use its Berry. Common Knock Off users include Blaziken, Azumarill, and Conkeldurr.

Imo Safeguard is a bit too situational compared to Destiny Bond to slash it in the main set. Especially when paired with Gengar, locking the opponent into WoW or Toxic is not a huge issue.

In usage tips, mention how to deal with Mega Blaziken with Wobbuffet/Mega Gengar. If Blaziken is sent out against Gengar, you must Destiny Bond turn 1, as Wobbuffet is not a switch-in due to Knock Off + Flare Blitz KO-ing it, and Blaziken will continue to spam Knock Off, outspeed, and KO Gengar turn 2. You will be forced to lose Mega Gengar in the process, but it's better than if you switch into Wobbuffet. If you don't use Destiny Bond, you can still use Counter with Wobbuffet, but Knock Off will leave it with around 40% health (and you'll lose to Swords Dance variants unless you're clairvoyant and knew it had SD, got the 50/50 prediction correct, and Encored it).

But otherwise, not much to nitpick on a Pokemon capable of learning only 8 moves. QC Approved 1.5/3

Ahhh... good to be analyzing you again, old friend =). Can't believe Wobbuffet was my first C&C work, and I did it like 6 years ago lol (and it was just team options stuff too!)

Overview
########
  • Shadow Tag is superb, and Wobbuffet has the right movepool and stats to abuse it and make it distinct from Mega Gengar.
  • Revenges choiced mons pretty well
  • Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar forme this REALLY nasty duo with Perish Trapping / Trapping in general. The two can really rip stall teams open a new one, and open holes against teams In the overview you mention it tears Stall a new one, does it affect any other playstyles? Is it good for taking out specific Pokemon? list examples
  • Wobbuffet is screwed if its the last mon standing, so it takes some care to use
  • Low Speed can be a let down sometimes how can it let it down?
  • No recovery means you have to make your time with Wobbuffet count you generally are only able to trap and take out one Pokemon, mention something along those lines when saying making it count
  • Typing sorta sucks defensively
  • Overall, its specialized, but its specialization is so good that it should be seriously considered when using Mega Gengar. outside of trapping it has jack shit lol

\(>_<)7 \(^.^)/

move 1: Encore
move 2: Counter
move 3: Mirror Coat
move 4: Destiny Bond / Safeguard
ability: Shadow Tag
item: Sitrus Berry / Custap Berry
evs: 252 Def / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
nature: Bold

Moves
========
  • Encore locks stuff into moves. Prevents Wobbuffet from being set up on by non taunt mons, guarntees use of counter / miror coat for weaker moves, and aids set up for teammates
  • Counter for physical attacks, Mirror Coat for special attacks (Psyshock counts as special btw)
  • Destiny Bond is usually the best choice (especially with cusap). Good move to use when you're not sure if the opponent is gonna 2HKO Wobbuffet or set up. Lets Wobbuffet take a Scarf Hydregion down with it.
  • Safeguard isn't normally as good, but since people like to status Wobbuffet, you can use Safeguard to loosen up your team's need for status absorbers.
Set Details
========
  • Bold to take physical hits better
  • 252 in Def and SpD because Wobbuffet's HP stat is so huge that invesing in these lets it take hits better. 4 Spe to try and win Slowbro speedties.
  • 2 main items to choose from. Sitrus gives Wobbuffet more suviability, which is a big plus when trying to perish trap. However, Custap + Dbond can REALLY screw people up, even though its higher risk for sure.

Usage Tips
========

  • Easiest thing for Wobbuffet to do is to switch into defensive Pokemon and Encore them. Destroy them with Countercoat if they attack, Switch if its a support move, and Safeguard for status if you have it.
  • Wobbuffet is bulky, but it's got a time limit on its head, so don't switch it recklessly into attacks, because you may need Wobbuffet healthy later for?
  • Switching Wobbuffet in after a kill or via Voltturn keeps it in tip top shape. or a double
  • If facing a mon that can 2HKO Wobbuffet and often runs set up, use Destiny Bond. Puts them in a "kill Wobbuffet and die, or set up and get set up on" situation without relying on prediction.
  • Mega Evolving Gengar asap is usually a good idea if you've selected it for battle, so Mega Gengar and Wobbuffet can pull off their dastardly trapping plans. (would normally mention this in teammates, but Wobbuffet actually made Mega Gengar's teammates recently. Mega Gengar is a big component of Wobbuffet's rising usage) what is wobuffet specifically good at trapping that mega gengar isn't?
  • When you've got both Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar out for the battle and you encore something that doesnt hurt Mega Gengar, do a damage calc. If Mega Gengar at least 3HKOs it and is faster, then just attack if its better for Mega Gengar to be out vs the next foe. If you can't 3HKO or 2HKO when they're faster, or the next foe can give Mega Gengar issues, use Perish Song and start stalling.
  • mention a ton more things that you can trap and when to trap them, you should also mention what you mentioned in team options about immunities and encore here as well.
  • Talk about team preview and when you should bring wobbuffet against what mons.

Team Options
========
  • MEGA GENGAR! These two form a freaking evil duo that severely punish defensive mons and mons locked into a non harming move. Perish Song Mega Gengar is the best teammate because having two Shadow Taggers RUINS a lot of stuff with Perish Song. If you're team absoloutely can not afford the lost in coverage / support moves, you can use other Mega Gengars (though it's not reccomended unless your team can't function without this)
  • Every set up sweeper in the game likes Wobbuffet support, but try to focus on sweepers that have immunities that can take advantage of Encore. EX: Flying / Levitate for Ground moves, Fire for Wisp, Electric for Twave/Glare, Steel for poison, Ghost for Normal / Fighting, etc. give examples of the top mons for example talonflame for eq garchomp for twave, etc. etc.
  • Consider a back up Mega Sweeper for teams where using Mega Gengar isn't gonna work. Good ones include Mega Kangaskhan, Charizard X, Salamence.
  • Dark and Ghost resists highly recommended since both Wobuffet and Mega Gengar are weak to those. Think Fairy, Fighting, and Dark such as? listing typing is good but new players don't necessarilly know good pokemon with those types off of the top of their heads
  • EX teammates (not sure how deep I will go here, but these 4 are pretty great teammates): Garchomp, Azumarill, Talonflame, Blaziken why are these Pokemon good?

Other Options
########
  • Lum Berry + Safeguard can ruin Breloom / Vivillon, and screws up other status pretty hard too.
  • Focus Sash can let Wobbuffet get a surprise kill on a sweeper, though Wobbuffet is pretty much done after that. Won't work against Mega Kangaskhan either.
  • Charm can be used to make Perish Trapping easier / set up sweeps for certain mons, but its useless vs special attackers, making it more situational.
  • lol Im gonna give Splash a mention, its the only legal move not covered yet :P

Checks & Counters
########
**Shed Shell**: Not common outside of Blissey explain what shed shell does, but this ruins Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar's big plan.

**Taunt**: cant encore, and then can get set up on. Gyarados and Tyranitar are sweepers that do this, while Mandibuzz and Skarmory can beat Wobbuffet this way too.

*Magic Bounce**: Not super common, but Mega Sableye and Espeon are untouchable vs Wobbuffet.

**Special Dark-types, Physical Ghost-types**: Mirror Coat doesn't effect these, meaning Wob can only dbond them. Hydreigon and mixed TTar are your mons here. Physical Ghost types pretty much means "Aegislash".

**U-turn and Volt Switch baton pass also helps to avoid this**: U-turning to Ghosts works as well, and Volt Turning to Darks too. Don't do it the other way around or you will still eat a countercoat.

**Ghost-types**: Wobbuffet can actually survive and beat some of them one on one when in good health depending on the set, but Ghosts ignore Shadow Tag, which makes Wobbuffet very sad :(

**Pursuit**: If you predict a switch, you can screw up Wob pretty bad with this. If it counters though... examples of common pursuit trappers.

**Knock Off**: While getting countered from a Knock Off means you're dead, it also means Wobbuffet won't be getting its health back or custaping you to death. examples of common knock off mons
overall nice job, just need some examples of mons and a bit more detail in certain places

The usage tips tend to talk about how to use Mega Gengar, try to limit this as the spotlight is on Wob. Just talk about how to use Wob when he's on t he field, when to take him out and when to send him in...

I think Baton Pass and Volt Switch / U-turn can be grouped together as 'Pivoting Moves' and explain how that will waste a turn if you go for the Encore, and then explain how U-turning to a Ghost or Volt Switching to a Dark is a great counter due to the immunities. Other than that, there's not much I can add since this thing only has a handful of moves and using them is real straightforward. Is fully physical or fully special worth a mention? I usually go fully physical actually.. I used to use Lum Berry / Safety Goggles with Encore + Safeguard to really stuff up Breloom leads, pairing that with any decent set-upper (PoP Kang, SD/BU M-Blaze etc.) is pretty fun but you already have it in OO so that's good enough for me!

Ok, finished this Montsegur !

Also, just a note cant say : I imanaged to cut down the Mega Gengar stuff in usage tips in a single paragraph, granted its rather big. Reason I kept some of that stuff there was: While I do think we should focus on Wobbuffet obviously, I think Wobbuffet + Mega Gengar is a strategy thats so entwined with why Wobbuffet's usage rose a lot, that it needs its own section. I mean we could move it to teammates too if you guys want, I don't mind that either. I just think it sorta blurs the line since Wobbuffet + Mega Gengar has a rather specfic strategy and set behind it, plus I wanted to mention that sometimes, its best to choose Mega Gengar OR Wobbuffet to go into battle, and not both.

Since Mega Gengar is a highly recommended teammate for Wobbuffet, there are some unique strategies to take into account for the two of them. Mega Evolve Gengar as soon as possible, so they can employ their evil strategy! Against defensive or encore locked Pokemon that Mega Gengar can't 3HKO, Mega Gengar should use Perish Song and Protect. During the Perish Song, Wobbuffet should switch-in: this not only saves Mega Gengar from getting KOed, it also lets Wobbuffet absorb weaker attacks from defensive Pokemon that would do far more damage to Mega Gengar! Using both Mega Gengar and Wobbuffet is usually the best course of action against slower, more defensive teams, as these teams are the most likely to fall apart against Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar's trapping strategies! Against faster offensive teams, it may be best to choose between Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar to give your team more offensive versatility. Wobbuffet does better against Choice Scarf Pokemon, and extremely fast foes that usually go first such as Blaziken and Talonflame, and it does a better job of directly setting up sweepers. Mega Gengar on the other hand, can directly take out Fairy-types such as Azumarill with less risk than Wobbuffet, has an incredible Speed stat to punish Pokemon that lack priority, and does a better job against Dark and Ghost-types such as Aegislash, Tyranitar, and Hydreigon.

The whole bit on Mega Gengar in Usage Tips is still weird to me. My understanding of Usage Tips is that you should explain how to use the set you've posted above, not the Pokemon as a whole. What you have in Team Options about MegaGar+Wob is enough imo. An elaborate explanation on the pairing would make for a wicked The Smog article, and I think it would best be suited there (hint hint).

I dunno, this might just be me. Any other QC member willing to weigh in? I'm not overly fussed, but cutting this stuff down would help keep the analyses concise

edit: oh and one more thing.. I'm not sure if it'll cause an integrity error but it's now Checks and Counters

If we're going to have that last paragraph in usage tips then I think in Team Options it should say the M-Gengar is a required teammate if you're going to use Wobbuffet. I think that having that paragraph is p important though since its such a big part on how to play wobbuffet.

Moves
========

Encore is Wobbuffet's big selling point, locking your opponents the foe into a move for 3 three turns, (remove comma) with no chance of switching out (remove dash) thanks to Shadow Tag! Counter allows Wobbuffet to deal massive damage when hit by a physical attack, while Mirror Coat shatters opponents foes using special attacks. Destiny Bond rounds out the set, allowing Wobbuffet to ease prediction by putting setup sweepers in a "get KOed or set up on" situation. Safeguard is usually a lesser option, but it can be considered if your team is especially weak to status moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Defense and Special Defense is recommended for the most bulk, because Wobbuffet's HP stat is so massive that investing in it won't do as much good. The extra 4 Speed EVs give Wobbuffet a chance to Speed tie with Slowbro, while the Bold nature lets Wobbuffet take physical hits better, suiting the physical dominance of Battle Spot Singles.

Sitrus Berry gives Wobbuffet a longer(dash)lasting presence on the battlefield due to the 25% recovery it offers, which can be especially useful against more defensive teams. Custap Berry(comma) on the other hand, is a more high-risk, high reward option. Custap Berry lets Wobbuffet move first when it's at 25% of its health (which in this case, is 66 HP). (is the 66 HP detail important?) When combined with Destiny Bond, this gives Wobbuffet the potential to take down two Pokémon Pokemon in a match! However, this also makes Wobbuffet more vulnerable to extremely powerful attacks that don't quite get it into Custap Berry's activation range, as Sitrus Berry won't be there to cushion the blow for it.

Usage Tips
========

Wobbuffet may might have good bulk, but switching it in recklessly trying to trap foes isn't usually a wise decision. Wobbuffet's lack of recovery means that it's usually only guaranteed one KO per match, so keeping Wobbuffet healthy earlier in the game is a good idea until you can decide what Pokemon you want Wobbuffet to take out. This isn't to say that Wobbuffet needs to be saved for the late-game, though: if you find a good opertunity opportunity to get Wobbuffet in safely (such as after a KO, (remove comma) or against a defensive Pokemon), don't hesitate to bring it in. Just remember, when using Wobbuffet early in the game, setting up sweeps is riskier due to potential checks, so it's sometimes best to simply launch off powerful attacks with your setup sweeper instead.

Wobbuffet's safest option is to switch into defensive targets that can't do much to it beyond statusing it. Use Encore to make them setup fodder for another switch-in, (remove comma) or use Counter / Mirror Coat to eventully KO them if they attack. Wobbuffet usually shouldn't directly switch into these Pokemon until it is known you know they are carrying a Choice Scarf, and be aware that in the case of Rotom-W and Rotom-H, they often carry Trick, which can cripple Wobbuffet. Once Choice Scarf Pokemon are locked into a move, they become easy targets for Wobbuffet to defeat with Counter or Mirror Coat! Choice Band and Choice Specs using Pokemon are also vulnerable to Wobbuffet, but due to their power to because they are occasionally able to 2HKO Wobbuffet, its it's usually best for Wobbuffet to revenge kill them with Wobbuffet instead.

When Wobbuffet is forced to face powerful setup sweepers such as Blaziken or and Life Orb Garchomp, using Encore is risky, as their attacks can already 2HKO Wobbuffet. Instead, using Destiny Bond is the safer choice. Because Wobbuffet is so slow, Destiny Bond will remain activated when the foe moves again. This puts the foe in a tough situation: either KO Wobbuffet and get taken down with Destiny Bond, (remove comma) or avoid a KO and become setup fodder thanks to Encore! Using Destiny Bond against potential mixed attackers such as Mega Salamence is also wise, because predicting the wrong move with Counter or Mirror Coat can be devastating for Wobbuffet.

Team Options
========

Mega Gengar should almost always be used with Wobbuffet. When paired together, Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar form a dastardly duo that severely punishes defensive Pokemon and foes locked into support moves from Encore. Perish Song Mega Gengar is usually the best variant to run, as together, this Mega Gengar and Wobbuffet form a deadly duo that heavily punishes defensive Pokemon and attempts at setting up! (sounds very similar to the previous sentence; reword?) The first method of unleashing their madness is for Wobbuffet to Encore a support, Normal, or Fighting move for Mega Gengar to switch in on, (remove comma) and start the Perish Song cycle. The second method is for Mega Gengar to use Perish Song on a defensive Pokemon, (remove comma) and then to switch to Wobbuffet to absorb their attacks, as Wobbuffet has much higher bulk than Mega Gengar. Also, note that Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar don't always have to be used in the same match: using one or the other can be useful against offensive teams, who which are not as vulnerable to Perish Song. Wobbuffet tends to do better against fast, offensive threats and Choice Scarf users, while Mega Gengar tends to deal with slower threats more efficiently. If your team can't afford the lost loss in coverage, other Mega Gengar variants are still good teammates, though they aren't as effective against defensive Pokémon Pokemon.

Almost any setup sweeper in Battle Spot Singles will benefit from Wobbuffet's support, but sweepers that are especially valuable to focus on are Pokemon that offer immunities and resistances that can take advantage of Wobbuffet's Encore. Great examples include Garchomp (for its Electric immunity), Azumarill (for its Dragon-type immunity and Dark-type resistance), Thundurus (for its Ground and paralysis immunity), Talonflame (for its Ground and burn immunity immune to Ground and burns) (might as well be parallel), and Blaziken (for its Dark-type resistance and burn immunity). Also, Since as using both Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar isn't the best choice against every opponent, having a backup Mega Pokemon that enjoys Wobbuffet's support is a reasonable option. Strong offensive Mega Pokemon that benefit from Wobbuffet's support include Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Salamence.

If you're your team is worried about status, Wobbuffet can use Safeguard and Lum Berry together to ruin Breloom and Vivillon. If especially worried about sleep, Wobbuffet can use Safety Goggles to defeat Breloom and Vivillon. Focus Sash can let Wobbuffet nab a surprise KO on a sweeper, but it will leave Wobbuffet useless for the rest of the battle. Charm is notable for making Perish Song trapping with Mega Gengar easier, and setting up sweeps easier, but it only works on physically offensive Pokémon Pokemon, making it a rather situational move. Finally, Wobbuffet's final available move is the laughable Splash, which shouldn't be seriously considered in any circumstance.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Shed Shell**: Shed Shell is uncommon outside of Blissey, but it is an extremely effective response to Wobbuffet, ruining its trapping strategies with Mega Gengar.

**Taunt**: Taunt blocks Wobbuffet's Encore, making it easy setup fodder. Common offensive users of this the move include Tyranitar and Gyarados, while Mandibuzz and Skarmory are effective defensive Taunt users.

**Magic Bounce**: While uncommon, Mega Sableye and Espeon are can use Magic Bounce to become immune to Wobbuffet's Encore thanks to Magic Bounce.

**Special Dark-types, and Physical Ghost-types**: Mirror Coat doesn't effect Special Attacking affect specially attacking Dark-types, making Hydregion and mixed Tyranitar effective answers as long as they avoid Destiny Bond. In a similar manner, physical Aegislash is unaffected by Counter.

**U-turn, Volt Switch, and Baton Pass**: U-turning to a Ghost-type is an effective way to escape Wobbuffet's Counter and Encore, while using Volt Switch to bring in a Dark-type avoids Mirror Coat and Encore. Baton Pass isn't as common, but thanks to its lack of damage, its it's even more effective against Wobbuffet, freeing up the Pokemon you the opponent can switch in without a risk of getting KOed. ("freeing up" is kinda confusing though)

**Ghost-types**: While Wobbuffet isn't actually OHKOed by unboosted Ghost-types, these Pokémon Pokemon are immune to Shadow Tag, allowing them to escape and KO Wobbuffet later when it's weakened.

**Pursuit**: Although Pursuit is an uncommon move, (was a dangling modifier!) Scizor and Tyranitar can use it Pursuit to deal massive damage to any escaping Wobbuffet.

**Knock Off**: While Wobbuffet will usually OHKO Knock Off users of Knock Off with Counter, it also means Wobbuffet won't be able to use its berry. Common Knock Off users include Blaziken, Azumarill, and Conkeldurr.

Alright, I made the changes P Squared! I did leave in the 66 HP mention though. The reason I put that there is because we're covering a 3DS metagame, which means no percentage bars, so I figured mentioning the HP number could save people from doing some quick math while the timer counts down.

Anyways, this needs one last grammar check until its done!

(Note to self: I need to stop using keyboard international when typing these analyses, putting the é in Pokémon is like a reflex for me lol)

[OVERVIEW]

At first glance, Wobbuffet might seem like a rather unremarkable trapper at first glance compared to Mega Gengar, but, thanks to its disruptive movepool and good bulk, Wobbuffet is effective at dealing with certain kinds of Pokemon that Mega Gengar has more issues with, such as Choice users and fast offensive threats. However, what truly makes Wobbuffet dangerous isn't what sets it apart from Mega Gengar but, rather, what the two can do together when joining forces! Wobbuffet and Mega Gengar together can be a dastardly duo that horrifies defensive teams with Perish Song,.(replace comma with period) and against Against offensive teams, Wobbuffet's and Mega Gengar's ability to trap different threats can put a massive amount of pressure on your opponent!

Unfortunately, Wobbuffet is a supportive Pokemon that heavily relies on its teammates to finish the job, meaning that when it's left as the last Pokemon, Wobbuffet can potentially lose the game due by becoming easy setup fodder.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Safeguard is usually a lesser poor option, but it can be considered if your team is especially weak to status moves.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Defense and Special Defense is recommended for the most bulk, because Wobbuffet's HP stat is so massive that investing in it won't do as much good (really?). The extra 4 Speed EVs give Wobbuffet a chance to Speed tie with Slowbro, while the a Bold nature lets Wobbuffet take physical hits better, suiting the physical dominance of Battle Spot Singles.

Sitrus Berry gives Wobbuffet a longer-lasting (subjective change) presence on the battlefield due to the 25% recovery it offers, which can be especially useful against more defensive teams. Custap Berry, on the other hand, is a more high-risk, high reward option. Custap Berry lets Wobbuffet move first when it's at 25% of its health (which, (AC) in this case, is 66 HP).

Usage Tips
========

This isn't to say that Wobbuffet needs to be saved for the late-game, though:;(change to semicolon) if you find a good opportunity to get Wobbuffet in safely, (AC) (such as after a KO or against a defensive Pokemon), don't hesitate to bring it in. Just remember,:(change to colon) when using Wobbuffet early in the game, setting up sweeps is riskier due to potential checks, so it's sometimes best to simply launch off powerful attacks with your setup sweeper instead.

Wobbuffet's safest option is to switch into defensive targets that can't do much to it beyond statusing giving it a status ailment. Use Encore to make them setup fodder for another switch-in or use Counter / or Mirror Coat to eventully eventually KO them if they attack. Choice Band and Choice Specs Pokemon are also vulnerable to Wobbuffet, but because they are occasionally able to 2HKO Wobbuffet, (AC) it's usually best for Wobbuffet to revenge kill them instead.

Using Destiny Bond against potential mixed attackers such as Mega Salamence is also wise, (RC) because predicting the wrong move with Counter or Mirror Coat can be devastating for Wobbuffet.

Perish Song Mega Gengar is usually the best variant to run. The first method of unleashing their madness is for Wobbuffet to use Encore on a support move, (RC) or a Normal-(AH), (RC) or Fighting-type move for Mega Gengar to switch in on and so it can start the Perish Song cycle. If your team is worried about vulnerable status ailments, Wobbuffet can use Safeguard and Lum Berry together to ruin Breloom and Vivillon (You mention these two in the next sentence, so give other examples of Pokemon that inflict status ailments.). If especially worried about sleep, Wobbuffet can use Safety Goggles to defeat Breloom and Vivillon. Focus Sash can let Wobbuffet nab a surprise KO on a sweeper, but it will leave Wobbuffet useless for the rest of the battle. Thanks Snobalt! Only subjective call I made was to keep the set name (sorry, I can't resist when Wobbuffet has such a good emote lol)

Also yeah, Wobbuffet is one of the very few Pokemon where investing in both defenses lets it take hits better than investing straight up in HP. This is partly due to the offensive stats being useless on Wobbuffet, and partly because of that gigantic HP stats. Forgot the exact calc, but a variant of this EV spread has been around since gen 4 Ubers (Ubers Wobbuffet in the past ran 28 HP Evs though to survive Scarf Kyogre Water Spout hehehe)

Otherwise, Wobbuffet is done and ready to be uploaded Hulavuta and cant say !
