Use your incredible Speed here! Toxic, then Slam it with an Iron Tail. Finish up with a Thunderbolt.

Boltair the Emonga starts gliding swiftly over his opponent, releasing noxius toxins (Toxic) from his wings. However, those same wings become an easy target for Rube the Rebble, who calls upon an Ancientpower and fires off a glowing sphere of white energy. Emonga quickly regain position due to his familiarity with the surrounding environment and slams the little rocky guy with an Iron Tail. The melee is not without consequences for the winged squirrel, who suffers another blast of Rube's Ancientpower.

Charging his disappoint into blinding electricity, Boltair fires off a swift Thunderbolt, which rumbles in the air as it strikes Rube, leaving him in shock - his mineral body magnetized by the powerful jolt of electricity. However, in a last effort, Rube manages to overcome for an instant the crippling effects of paralysis and strikes Boltair with a third Ancientpower.

Boltair (Emonga)
HP: 30
Energy: 80
Boosts: none
Other: none

Rube (Rebble)
HP: 62
Energy: 92
Boosts: none
Other: Toxic (1 turn lasted), Paralysis (15% chance of not being able to move)

The two Pokémon are at a good distance from one another, due to Iron Tail and Thunderbolt throwing the rocky guy a good while back - let's say, 10-15 foots.

Dogfish acts first now!

Alright, this is where your speed should be useful. Fly over the edge of the cliff out of reach, and Roost.

Then, fly back up and launch a Thunderbolt before ducking back out of view. Then, repeat the technique where you use Thunderbolt and duck out of the way.

Boltair (Emonga)
HP 30
Energy 80
Boosts: none
Other: none

Rube (Rebble)
HP 62
Energy 92
Boosts: none
Other: Toxic (1 turn lasted), Paralysis (15% chance)

Boltair, heavily wounded but still alive and speedy as always, Roosts on a nearby cliff, slacking off a bit to lick his wounds and restore his health. Rube is sadly too slow to follow Boltair and Disable due to his body being crippled by the sparks running through it.

Boltair, looking a bit better after the quick nap, turns on his foe and decides it's time to make him pay for his deeds. He concentrates glowing electricity in his tiny body and then fires off a powerful Thunderbolt at Rube, creating little dents in his rocky hide as the fatigue starts to accumulate. Rube attempts to backfire, but a sudden zap of electricity freezes him in place.

The white squirrel starts to gain a little more confidence, and launches another Thunderbolt at his opponent, in an attempt to knock him out once and for all. Rube has other plans for him, though. His tiny body charges up with lightning (as if it wasn't completely overloaded to begin with...) and bounces on Boltair, returning with a blinding dash at his trainer. Now Boltair beholds carefully Venser, awaiting to see what is going to come out next...

HP 40
Energy 22
Boosts: none
Other: none

Rube (Rebble)
HP 26
Energy 86
Boosts: none
Other: Called back by his trainer via Volt Change

Now it's Venser's turn. He'll have to say which Pokémon comes out to battle AND issue his actions. Then Dogfish will issue his ones as well. However, Venser, remember that, once you choose which Pokémon to call out, you won't be able to use other Pokémon for this battle besides that one and Rebble.

Calling Rube back, I send out Swells the Monohm in an attempt to resist the flying monkey's future attacks.

Monohm, start it off with a Rain Dance! Then, use a Thunder on that pest. Lastly, blast it with a Hydro Pump!

Boltait Dislikes being called a pest.

Rain Dance in a storm? Give it a Toxic for that insolence.

Then Air Slash. Finish up by using Acrobat to dodge that Hydro Pump and Strike it.

Boltair toughen up as Swells enter the battlefield. The skies darken up as the little sheep roars in the air, but together with the thick rain fall another barrage of noxious toxins from Boltair's wings, which Toxic the Monohm steadily.

Not impressed by the heavy rain falling from the clouds, Boltair uses his electric powers to create a perturbation in the air and throwing it at his opponent as if it was an ethereal blade. The Air Slash, which Monohm shouldn't generally fear by virtue of his mastery of thunders, hits far harder than expected, resulting in a critical hit. The laughing squirrel however should look more carefully above his head, because a mighty flux of electricity crosses the air and smites him in place.

Boltair is on the verge of defeat, but he still wants to fight. With impressive reflexes, he dodges Swell's Hydro Pump and hit him with an Acrobatic jump. The hit still only wounds Swell's thick hide lightly, but the toxins are starting to build up...

Swells (Monohm)
HP 64

Other: Toxiced (1 turn lasted)

Now it's Dogfish44's turn. He will issue his actions first (I'll point out that Boltair only has 4 energy left) and then Venser will follow up.

Attempt to dodge the Quick Attack and retaliate with Thunders until he goes down, Swells!

[Thunder x (until it dies)]

Swells (Monohm)
HP 64

Other: Toxiced (1 turn lasted)

Tired and greatly injured, Boltair attempts a last ditch effort and hits Swells with a Quick Attack for light damage. Monohm eats the attack with ease and invokes a huge blast of lightning from the sky. The Thunder strikes Boltair without chance of failing, leaving him dazed and almost fainted. Sensing that his squirrel his in mortal danger, Dogfish44 calls back his guy, leaving Swells and Venser unaware of what's going to happen...

Other: Toxiced (2 turns lasted)

GRUMPus enters happily the battlefield, jumping from one point to another without any apparent reason. Swells doesn't seem to care that much anyway, and calls a huge Thunder from the skies to blast the Spoink where he is. GRUMPus looks like he stopped jumping - but not only because of the shock. He concentrates and foresee an ominous, impending event with his Future Sight.

The future may look grim for the charged sheep, but the present certainly doesn't. The same cannot be said for the pig. Another blinding Thunder blasts from the clouded skies and zap GRUMPus violently. This time, however, the Spoink decides to focus on the current events and uses strange mental powers to shake Swells' yellow head with his Extrasensory. The headache is particularly intense, as the Monohm suffers a critical hit.

Swells quickly recovers from the hit, and calls forth another Thunder. GRUMPus shrugs off the hit, and conjures a gloomy sphere to strike his opponent. The Shadow Ball hits without error the target, but not with fatal consequences.

Venser goes first now

Okay Swells, let's do this. That Spoink looks particularly weak from the physical side, so strike it with a Thunder Wave, and follow up with a Dragon Dance. Lastly, use a Dragon Rush before it can act and try and flinch it.

Swells starts by firing off a weak jolt of electricity to paralyze his opponent and cripple him. GRUMPus however has a nasty surprise to wait him. A thin and trasparent magic barrier appears in front of the jumping pit, reflecting the Thunder Wave back at the Monohm and leaving him paralyzed. Behind the Magic Coat, GRUMPus jumps happily over.

To make things worse, the Spoink generates a blinding burst of light, leaving the electrosheep dazed and confused by the Confuse Ray. Taking leave of his senses, the Monohm hits himself in confusion. While Swells still wanders around unaware, GRUMPus strikes his feebled mind and twists it with his Extrasensory. The hit is too much for the weakened Swells, who falls to the ground exhausted. His trainer manages to call him back before the violent psychic energy foreseen by the Spoink with his Future Sight blasts the place and leaves only darkened, hard rock.

Venser quickly realizes that his chances now rest with the weakened but still alive and well Rebble, and sends him out in hopes to turn the tide.

I gotta say rebble, this isn't looking good, be we can do this! Start off with an Ancientpower followed by a Shadow Ball. Then, finish the round with another Shadow Ball!

Rube is severely battered and weakening, but he still seems to have some fighting in him. Calling forth his ancestral might, the Rebble conjures a glowing, white sphere of energy, blasting away the opponent. GRUMPus take the Ancientpower without breaking a sweat, and replies with a swift jump. Rube can't avoid the flying pig as he rams into him with a Zen Headbutt.

The rocky guy try to come to his senses and desperately fires off a Shadow Ball in the hopes GRUMPus can't deal easily with the darker energies. But as the gloomy orb detonates on the pink pig, a noxious force penetrates Rube's mind, twisting it fiercely. The Extrasensory powers of the Spoink manage to win the Rebble's last forces, and Venser can't do nothing but recalling his fainted friend, and congratulate with his opponent for an intense fight.

Woop!

Although why no evo counter for Boltair? It entered battle...

And Swells also gets a KO counter.

Well unless I'm mistaken Boltair doesn't get an Evo Counter because it doesn't evolve.
Right?

What I don't understand is why Emonga had to be switched out?
