XY Doubles Threatlist

Stratos

Banned deucer.
Alright, so in this thread, we'll be working on creating threat list entries for the many viable and relevant Pokemon in the XY Doubles metagame. We're basically going to be providing a brief paragraph as to what role the given Pokemon fulfill in the metagame. Format taken from Spirit 's RU Threatlist

Here are some ground rules:
  • You may only reserve two Pokemon at any given moment and three if you are a badgeholder. You may not reserve any more until you have all of your current threat list entries completed.
  • You have three days maximum to complete your reservation, any more and it will be revoked. It really doesn't take that long to write a simple paragraph, and if you display a tendency to place reservations without completing them, then you will not be allowed to place any reservations at all.
  • Make a new post once you've completed your reservation. This makes it easier for me to keep track of threat list entries instead of having to continually look back to see if you finished your work.
  • Please have prior knowledge about the XY Doubles metagame before you place a reservation. Also make sure that you can write a coherent paragraph as well. I do have the right to reject threat list entries if the quality and/or content isn't up to snuff. So if one of these things applies to you, it's simply best not to waste everyone's time reserving something.
  • If there's a Pokemon that you believe should be included in the threat list and is not there, you may make a case in this thread stating why it should be included.
Format:

The threat list entries will follow a specific format, as such:
HTML:
[sprite]
Pokemon
Type: Type 1 / Type 2 (if applicable)
Base Stats: HP / Atk / Def / SpA / SpD / Spe
Ability: First / Second / Third (if applicable)
*note* underline second (or third) ability if it is more pertinent than the first ability
Sprites:
  • In regards to sprites, use this source to acquire them
  • No fancy custom sprites or anything of that sort is to be used other than the given source
Writing tips:
  • Keep it concise. The threat list entries should be no more than a single paragraph for each one.
  • You only describe the Pokemon's role in the given metagame. This means you do not list flaws. You simply state why the Pokemon in question is a threat. Listing flaws does not tell the reader why a Pokemon is a threat.
  • These are not overviews. I do not want to see any references to past generations or metagames. Anything along the lines of, "with the advent of" or "in previous generations" is strictly prohibited.
  • You don't need a conclusion. You can simply finish a paragraph stating one of the Pokemon's characteristics and leave it at that. Only include a conclusion if it contains actual content.
  • Cut down on the fluff. Avoid making references to a Pokemon's aesthetics, history, or anything else that doesn't have to do with its general functionality. Phrases such as "despite its harmless exterior" or anything similar is not allowed.
  • Don't be too descriptive. For instance, instead of listing out all the viable moves a Pokemon can run, simply state along the lines of, "it has good coverage". This also falls along the lines of abilities as well. For example, if a Pokemon has many useful abilities, simply state that "it has many useful abilities" or something similar as opposed to listing out each and every single one. Only be specific if the ability/move plays a key role in the Pokemon's viability. An example of that is Swift Swim in the case of Ludicolo, etc.

Terrakion + Latios + Aegislash

Terrakion
Type: Rock / Fighting
Base Stats: HP 91 / Atk 129 / Def 90 / SpA 92 / SpD 90 / Spe 108
Ability: Justified

Terrakion threatens a large portion of Doubles with its great base Speed and excellent STAB coverage. Boasting one of the most powerful Rock Slides in the metagame, it can do considerable amounts of spread damage to the opposing team, easily maintaining offensive pressure. In addition, Close Combat is a nuke to anything unresisted. Keep an eye out for Quick Guard and Substitute as well, because Terrakion can utilize them to completely destroy certain countering strategies.

Latios
Type: Dragon / Psychic
Base Stats: 80 HP / 90 Atk / 80 Def / 130 SpA / 110 SpD / 110 Spe
Ability: Levitate

Latios threatens a large portion of Doubles with its great base Speed and excellent STAB coverage. Finding many opportunities to switch in with its good defensive typing and Levitate, it can punch many holes in the opposing team with its Life Orb boosted Draco Meteor. Its Psychic-type STAB attack of choice is strong enough to pick off damaged threats without forcing the Special Attack drop. Lastly, Latios boasts many situational moves, such as Tailwind, Helping Hand, and Hidden Power, allowing it to work its way around certain counters.

Aegislash
Type: Steel / Ghost
Base Stats (Shield Forme): 60 HP / 50 Atk / 150 Def / 50 SpA / 150 SpD / 60 Spe
Base Stats (Blade Forme): 60 HP / 150 Atk / 50 Def / 150 SpA / 50 SpD / 60 Spe
Ability: Stance Change

Aegislash's unique typing and great defenses in Shield Forme allow it to safely switch into a large variety of threats in Doubles. From there, it can rotate between great defenses and offenses with King's Shield and its ability Stance Change. With decently powered STAB attacks and access to important moves such as Wide Guard, Shadow Sneak, and Substitute, Aegislash can easily shut down many top-tier threats.

Bisharp
Type: Dark / Steel
Base Stats: 65 HP / 125 Atk / 100 Def / 60 SpA / 70 SpD / 70 Spe
Ability: Defiant

Bisharp's presence alone can make you think twice about clicking Icy Wind or switching in an Intimidate Pokemon. It's powerful Dark STAB attacks Knock Off and Sucker Punch both have you utility in removing items and providing priority, respectively.

I just ctrl + f ampharos in the threats tab and find 0 results
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Sylveon
Type: Fairy
Base Stats: HP 95 / Atk 65 / Def 65 / SpA 110 / SpD 130 / Spe 60
Abilities: Cute Charm / Pixilate

Sylveon's selling point is Choice Specs Pixilate Hyper Voice, a spread move that can 2HKO most of the non-resistant metagame. Its coverage moves, while low in power otherwise, manage super effective hits on most Pokemon that would try to wall it. Sylveon can also use boosting sets with Calm Mind which compliments its excellent Special Defense and can plow through teams provided it has appropriate support. Sylveon typically finds itself on Trick Room teams which helps it circumvent its low base Speed.

Excadrill
Type: Ground / Steel
Base Stats: HP 110 / Atk 135 / Def 60 / SpA 50 / SpD 65 / Spe 88
Abilities: Sand Rush / Sand Force / Mold Breaker

Excadrill has two useful abilities and a great attack stat which makes it a solid choice in the Doubles metagame. Sand Rush turns Excadrill into a fast sweeper which can easily clean up lategame with its powerful, Life Orb-boosted spread moves in Earthquake and Rock Slide. With Mold Breaker, Excadrill can take down traditional counters to Earthquake spam such as Rotom-W and Latios which lose their immunity. Excadrill also boasts a Steel-type STAB move in Iron Head which allows it to effectively deal with Fairy-type Pokemon.

Deoxys-A
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 50 HP / 180 Atk / 20 Def / 180 SpA / 20 SpD / 150 Spe
Ability: Pressure

Deoxys-A is an offensive behemoth that piles pressure onto any opposing team. With a 140BP STAB move in Psycho Boost, Deoxys-A finds itself able to OHKO a wide range of threats. Pokemon that do resist it are slammed by coverage options in moves like Knock Off or Superpower. Unfortunately, Deoxys-A does not have incredible defenses to compliment its sublime offenses. Almost any move will OHKO Deoxys-A so it needs to utilize Detect to avoid taking damage. With good team support, Deoxys-A can overcome its awful defensive presence and power its way through teams.

Abomasnow
Type: Grass / Ice
Base Stats: 90 HP / 92 Atk / 75 Def / 92 SpA / 85 SpD / 60 Spe
Mega Stats: 90 HP / 132 Atk / 105 Def / 132 SpA / 105 SpD / 30 Spe
Ability: Snow Warning / Soundproof
Mega Ability: Snow Warning

Abomasnow's main niche is that it is the only fully evolved Pokemon with the ability Snow Warning. Thanks to this ability, Abomasnow can effectively use an excellent spread move in Blizzard. As an added benefit, its auto Hail can also remove opposing weather, made even better since Abomasnow's typing lets it match up well against Rain teams. Also, it has a powerful Mega form that gives it increased power and bulk, which its low Speed allows it to take advantage of when being used as an attacker under Trick Room.

Rotom-Wash
Type: Water / Electric
Base Stats: 50 HP / 65 Atk / 107 Def / 105 SpA / 107 SpD / 86 Spe
Ability: Levitate

With its Water / Electric typing, Rotom-W is a great Pokemon both defensively and offensively. Its typing and ability let it check many common attackers such as Heatran and Landorus-T, and it has support moves such as Will-O-Wisp and Electroweb to aid the team. Its STAB moves, Hydro Pump and Thunderbolt, not only offer great neutral coverage, but are also powerful. It can also pull off either a Choice Specs or Choice Scarf set for more wallbreaking power or the ability to outspeed fast threats, respectively.
->

Kangaskhan
Type: Normal
Base Stats: 105 HP / 95 Atk / 80 Def / 40 SpA / 80 SpD / 90 Spe
Mega Stats: 105 HP / 125 Atk / 100 Def / 60 SpA / 100 SpD / 100 Spe
Ability: Early Bird / Scrappy / Inner Focus
Mega Ability: Parental Bond

Kangaskhan is used solely for its Mega form, which hits the important Base 100 speed tier and grants the ability Parental Bond, which gives all of its moves a 1.5x increase in power. A Return or Double-Edge coming from this can do plenty of damage to Pokemon switching in. It has access to Fake Out, letting it disrupt opposing plays and immobilize an opposing Pokemon for a turn. Sucker Punch gives it priority to use against faster threats, while Power-Up Punch is a coverage move that's also a way to boost Kangaskhan's already high attack to terrifying levels.

Hitmontop
Type: Fighting
Base Stats: 50 HP / 95 Atk / 95 Def / 35 SpA / 110 SpD / 70 Spe
Abilities: Intimidate / Technician / Steadfast

Hitmontop is one of the better support Pokemon in Doubles for a few reasons. The first is it's large support movepool, containing gems such as Fake Out, Wide Guard, Feint, and Quick Guard, which allow Hitmontop to immobilize opponent Pokemon, protect its teammates from incoming attacks, and break through Protect with ease. Secondly, Hitmontop has access to arguably the best ability in Doubles, Intimidate, which allows it to neuter physical attackers and make them much easier to deal with. It's good overall 50 / 95 / 110 bulk also helps its support its team, as it means it can take a hit or two to keep helping its team. Hitmontop is not necessarily a sitting duck, either, as moves such as Close Combat, Sucker Punch, and Stone Edge can leave their mark against more frail opponents.

Heatran
Type: Fire / Steel
Base Stats: 91 HP / 90 Atk / 106 Def / 130 SpA / 106 SpD / 77 Spe
Ability: Flash Fire

Heatran has cemented itself as one of the best Fire-types in Doubles for a number of reasons. The first is its exceptional defensive typing, which allows it to easily set up a Substitute on a number of different Pokemon. Once it's set up a Substitute, it can then fire off Heat Waves, which, when coming off a large 130 Special Attack stat, are sure to leave their mark on anything that doesn't resist it. Heatran also has access to good coverage moves such Earth Power, a helpful ability in Flash Fire that lets it set up a Substitute even easier, and good 91 / 106 / 106 bulk that means it can easily take a hit or two and retaliate back. Even Heatran's below average Speed can be used to its advantage, allowing it to fire off monstrous Eruptions under Trick Room.

->

Venusaur
Type: Grass / Poison
Base Stats: 80 HP / 82 Atk / 83 Def / 100 SpA / 100 SpD / 80 Spe
Mega Stats: 80 HP / 100 Atk / 123 Def / 122 SpA / 120 SpD / 80 Spe
Abilities: Overgrow / Chlorophyll
Mega Ability: Thick Fat

When under the sun, Venusaur becomes a very scary special attacker. This is because of its ability, Chlorophyll, which doubles its Speed in sun, meaning it will almost always be the first to move. Combine this two great STAB moves in Sludge Bomb and Energy Ball, and you have a powerful attacker that can easily KO most of the opponent's team. Venusaur also has access to Sleep Powder, which when coupled with its large Speed under sun, means it can easily spread sleep throughout the opponent's team, crippling them for the rest of the match. Another often overlooked trait of Venusaur is it's Mega Evolution, which gives it another great ability in Thick Fat as well as better defensive stats, turning it into a good bulky attacker.

Reserving Aromatisse and Klefki.

Base Stats: 105 HP / 95 Atk / 80 Def / 40 SpA / 80 SpD / 90 Spe

Kangaskhan is only used due to its phenomenal Mega form. After Mega Evolving, Kangaskhan gains increased bulk, power, and Speed, as well as the ability Parental Bond, which gives all of its moves a 1.5x increase in power. Its STAB attacks can do plenty of damage to Pokemon switching in. It has access to Fake Out, letting it disrupt opposing plays and immobilize an opposing Pokemon for a turn. Do you not remember when Mizuhime used Scrappy Focus Sash Kangaskhan against Fangame10?
Don't worry, Pwnemon will delete this post lol.

Edit: Also, inner focus fake out before mega evolving, not just scrappy fake out. There are a lot of faster Fake Out users including already mega-ed kangas

gonna reserve ludicolo, scrafty, cresselia edit: lolk gave me zard y too, and im reservin zard x

Ludicolo
Type: Water / Grass
Base Stats: 80 HP / 70 Atk / 70 Def / 90 SpA / 100 SpD / 70 Spe
Abilities: Swift Swim / Rain Dish / Own Tempo

When in Rain, Ludicolo makes for great all-out attacker with Swift Swim. Its attacks give it excellent neutral coverage, while Swift Swim doubles its Speed under Rain, letting it outspeed the entire unboosted metagame. Its typing allows it to handle common checks to Rain-based attackers, such as Amoonguss (due to an immunity to Spore and the ability to ignore Rage Powder) and Rotom-W, and it also has Fake Out to disrupt the opponent and immobilize a Pokemon for the turn. Thanks to Rain, its Water-type STAB gets a power boost, letting it do a lot of damage to non-defensive threats. In addition, since it typically doesn't run non-attacking moves, it can use Assault Vest to further augment its bulk.

Scrafty
Type: Dark / Fighting
Base Stats: 65 HP / 90 Atk / 115 Def / 45 SpA / 115 SpD / 58 Spe
Abilities: Shed Skin / Moxie / Intimidate

Scrafty is a great support Pokemon, and is one of its main Fighting-types. It has access to the coveted ability Intimidate, letting it check physical attackers such as Landorus-T and Garchomp. It also has Fake Out, which can disrupt opposing plays and immobilize a Pokemon for the turn. Its typing allows it to handle Psychic-types such as Cresselia that usually take down other Fighting-types. Also, its 65 / 115 / 115 defenses give it good bulk, made even better by a Sitrus Berry or Assault Vest. Knock Off forces Pokemon to be cautious when switching into Scrafty, lest they get stripped of their item. Scrafty also has access to coverage moves such as Ice Punch and Stone Edge that let it take out common threats.

Cresselia
Type: Psychic
Base Stats: 120 HP / 70 Atk / 120 Def / 75 SpA / 130 SpD / 85 Spe
Abilities: Levitate

Cresselia is one of the best support Pokemon in the metagame, and for good reason too. Its 120 / 120 / 130 defenses let it stay on the field for a very long time. Levitate makes it immune to Earthquake, a common spread move. Thanks to its massive support movepool, Cresselia is highly customizable, with moves ranging from Trick Room,, Helping Hand, and Icy Wind down to the less common Skill Swap. Cresselia can also utilize an offensive set with Expert Belt to lure in and pick off Pokemon that would normally be safe against it. In addition, thanks to its great bulk it can pull off a Calm Mind set and becomes very threatening after a few boosts.

Mega Charizard Y
Type: Fire / Flying
Base Stats: 78 HP / 104 Atk / 78 Def / 159 SpA / 115 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Drought

Mega Charizard Y is one of the most threatening Pokemon in the metagame. With its high offenses and good speed, it's the best Drought user available. Drought in conjunction with its already high 159 Special Attack gives its Fire-type attacks a high damage output, letting it put a dent in things that get hit. It also has Solarbeam to handle any Water-types that can tank its attacks. Heat Wave makes for a great spread move, while moves such as Fire Blast and Overheat let it deal massive amounts of damage at once. This coupled with a good Speed tier makes Mega Charizard Y very effective.

Mega Charizard X
Type: Fire / Dragon
Base Stats: 78 HP / 130 Atk / 111 Def / 130 SpA / 85 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Tough Claws

Mega Charizard X is a fearsome physical attacker. Base 130 Attack coupled with its STAB attacks, Flare Blitz and Dragon Claw, let it do plenty of damage. In addition, Tough Claws gives both moves a 33% damage increase, making them even more potent. Its typing gives it the advantage of being immune to burns, a huge plus for a physical attacker in a metagame where Will-O-Wisp is very common. It also has Dragon Dance to nab Attack and Speed boosts and become even more threatening, and its typing gives it plenty of opportunities to set up.

Audio asked for some comments so I'm making them

On Rotom-W, add mention of being good against Heatran in addition to the Landorus-T you already mentioned. It might be a bit much, but I think it's important to point out how Rotom-W it versatile and can play equally well against a fast physical attacker like Landorus-T or a slow special attacker like Heatran.

On Kanga, mentioning the increased stats upon Mega Evolving is unnecessary. We all know that it gains 100 points. Go with "Kangaskhan is used solely for its Mega form, which hits the important base 100 speed tier (or however speed tiers are generally referred to) and gains Parental Bond..." I'd also consider throwing in a mention of Scrappy Fake Out while not yet Mega.

Reserving Garde, Genesect and Politoed for now, more soon

Gardevoir
Type: Psychic / Fairy
Base Stats: 68 HP / 65 Atk / 65 Def / 125 SpA / 115 SpD / 80 Spe
Mega Stats: 68 HP / 85 Atk / 65 Def / 165 SpA / 135 SpD / 100 Spe
Abilities: Synchronize / Trace / Telepathy
Mega Ability: Pixilate

Gardevoir's new Fairy typing makes it much stronger, allowing it to run a viable Choice Scarf set. However, Gardevoir's main strength is in its mega form. The stat buffs allow it to survive weak special attacks and puts it in the same speed tier as Mega Kangaskhan. Pixilate turns Hyper Voice into a powerful STAB spread move that goes through substitutes. Its Psychic typing allows it to get past poison-types like Amoonguss, and its other moveslots are usually taken by a coverage move and Protect. Once its checks have been taken out, it can be a great lategame sweeper.

Base Stats: 80 HP / 130 Atk / 100 Def / 55 SpA / 70 SpD / 65 Spe
Mega Stats: 80 HP / 150 Atk / 140 Def / 55 SpA / 100 SpD / 75 Spe
Ability: Swarm / Technician / Light Metal
Mega Ability: Technician

Scizor is notable for its Mega Swords Dance set, which is extremely bulky, hits quite hard, and can't be stopped by Intimidate. Once Fire-type move and Will-o-Wisp users are eliminated it can be nearly impossible to stop. In addition, it packs the fourth strongest priority move in the Doubles metagame with its Technician-boosted Bullet Punch, which threatens away most of the metagame's stronger, frailer Pokemon with an OHKO.

Shaymin-Sky
Type: Grass / Flying
Base Stats: 100 HP / 103 Atk / 75 Def / 125 SpA / 75 SpD / 127 Spe
Ability: Serene Grace

Shaymin-S is a blistering fast special attacker with good three-move coverage and a very powerful STAB move. However, what truly makes it a threat is that its STAB moves have ridiculous secondary effects. Seed Flare's 80% chance to halve Special Defense can destroy switchins set up a KO for Shaymin's partner, and Air Slash's 60% flinch chance speaks for itself. It can also use Tailwind instead of a coverage move to support its team.

Aromatisse
Type: Fairy
Base Stats: 101 HP / 72 Atk / 72 Def / 99 SpA / 89 SpD / 29 Spe
Abilities: Healer / Aroma Veil

A number of factors make Aromatisse a good Trick Room setter. The first is it's ability, Aroma Veil, which allows it to avoid Taunt, a common method of preventing Trick Room from being used. This, when combined with an item such as Safety Goggles, makes it almost impossible to prevent Aromatisse from setting up Trick Room. Aromatisse also has a very low Speed stat, allowing it to outspeed Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Slowking in Trick Room. Another one of Aromatisse's positive traits is its good support movepool, containing moves such as Light Screen, Reflect, Heal Pulse, and Misty Terrain. Finally, Aromatisse has a good defensive typing, giving it resistances to common Dark- and Fighting-type moves, as well as an immunity to Dragon-type moves.

Klefki
Type: Steel / Fairy
Base Stats: 57 HP / 80 Atk / 91 Def / 80 SpA / 87 SpD / 75 Spe
Abilities: Prankster / Magician

With the ability Prankster, Klefki can be a good supporter for its team. Prankster gives +1 priority to Klefki's support moves, such as Light Screen, Reflect, Safeguard, and Thunder Wave, allowing Klefki to protect its teammates from powerful attacks, status, and fast attackers. Klefki also has a good defensive typing in Steel / Fairy, giving it a multitude of resistances and immunities. Klefki isn't necessarily unable to defend itself, either, with Foul Play doing good damage to any Pokemon with a good physical attack stat.

Strong showing, guys!

Removing fluff is great, but some of these entries can be slightly more descriptive IMO. Some of these paragraphs are a bit too generalized or scanty in specifics that a reader only gets a vague sense of the Pokemon's role in Doubles metagame. Specify what Pokemon / playstyle it threatens. Specify the common moves and items that these mons may carry.

For instance, Charizard X's entry doesn't mention its STAB moves Dragon Claw and Flare Blitz. Mega Scizor's entry didn't specify its priority move in Bullet Punch until I edited it in. It would be nice to know that Ludicolo and Scrafty usually run an all-out attacking set with Assault Vest set. It's also worth elaborating how Ludicolo circumvents Amoonguss (immunity to Rage Powder and Spore), since that may go over newer player's heads. Thunder Wave and Skill Swap are also notable support options by Cresselia that is worth addressing. Just a little bit more specific detail can allow these descriptions to truly illustrate concisely what these Pokemon can accomplish in Doubles.

pwne edit: since when does "second strongest priority move in the metagame" not equal bullet punch?? i forgot about bisharp tho so thanks for the catch, third strongest it is :(

garchomp + azumarill + tyranitar

Garchomp
Type: Dragon / Ground
Base Stats: 108 HP / 130 Atk / 95 Def / 80 SpA / 85 SpD / 102 Spe
Abilities: Sand Veil / Rough Skin

Garchomp's great typing grants it useful resistances and immunities that allow it to make good use of its bulk. In addition to this, its Dragon / Ground dual STAB allows it to have great neutral coverage, further bolstered by a high base 130 Attack, access to a good spread move in Earthquake, and a great Speed tier. Its STAB Earthquake gives it access to a solid spread move. Garchomp has Stone Edge and Rock Slide to use as coverage moves for those things its STABs can't touch, such as Togekiss. It can utilize Substitute to shield itself from status, and Rocky Helmet to wear things down even more in conjunction with its Rough Skin. All these things help turn Garchomp into an excellent attacker.

Azumarill
Type: Water / Fairy
Base Stats: 100 HP / 50 Atk / 80 Def / 50 SpA / 80 SpD / 50 Spe
Abilities: Thick Fat / Huge Power / Sap Sipper

Azumarill is a powerful attacker, largely due to its ability Huge Power. This ability makes Azumarill's attack double that it would be otherwise, allowing it to be a threatening offensive force. Its typing comes with useful resistances defensively, such as to Fighting-, Dark-, and Fire-type attacks, and its main STAB attacks, Waterfall and Play Rough, can deal plenty of damage to opponents. It has Aqua Jet as a priority attack to get around its low Speed, and with its Belly Drum set it can boost to +6 and blast through opposing teams, making it absolutely terrifying to face.
->

Tyranitar
Type: Rock / Dark
Base Stats: 100 HP / 134 Atk / 110 Def / 95 SpA / 100 SpD / 61 Spe
Mega Stats: 100 HP / 164 Atk / 150 Def / 95 SpA / 120 SpD / 71 Spe
Abilities: Sand Stream / Unnerve
Mega Ability: Sand Stream

Tyranitar is one of the most versatile Pokemon in the metagame. It has an amazing ability in Sand Stream, which gives it a 50% Special Defense boost while removing other weathers from the field. It has access to Rock Slide, giving it a nice spread move, and its other attacks provide good coverage alongside that. Thanks to its 100 / 110 / 100 (or 100 / 150 / 120 if you choose to use the Mega form) defenses, it has no problem going with a bulky set that can handle powerful attacks. Due to its low Speed it can even function well under Trick Room. Tyranitar is also able to run a Choice Scarf set, taking out many fast threats such as Latios and Thundurus. In its Mega form it becomes an excellent user of Dragon Dance, cleaning through teams with its base 164 Attack. Tyranitar can even forgo physical attacking altogether, using a Special set to quickly eliminate Pokemon such as Landorus-T while not being affected by common burns and Intimidate drops.

Reserving Conkeldurr and gourgeist s

Gourgeist-S
Type: Ghost / Grass
Base Stats: 85 HP / 100 Atk / 122 Def / 58 SpA / 75 SpD / 54 Spe
Abilities: Pickup / Frisk

With solid 85 / 122 / 75 bulk and a very low base 54 Speed, Gourgeist-S is a very good Trick Room setter in Doubles. Its ability Frisk allows it to scout the opposing Pokemon's items, which is very useful for more versatile Pokemon, like Landorus-T. Its base 100 Attack is decent, meaning Gourgeist's Seed Bomb and Phantom Force to deal moderate damage. Gourgeist's Grass typing makes it a very good Rain check as well. On top of Trick Room, Gourgeist has other support options in Will-O-Wisp and Leech Seed, and is commonly seen running a Sitrus Berry to increase its longevity, supporting the team more.

Conkeldurr
Type: Fighting
Base Stats: 105 HP / 140 Atk / 95 Def / 55 SpA / 65 SpD / 45 Spe
Abilities: Guts / Sheer Force / Iron Fist

Conkeldurr is a very strong, bulky Trick Room attacker. With a very low base 45 Speed and a huge base 140 Attack, Conkeldurr can hit hard and fast in Trick Room. It also has three great abilities: Guts allows it to sponge burns and paralysis; Sheer Force powers up many of Conkeldurr's coverage options (i.e. elemental punches, Rock Slide, Poison Jab); and Iron Fist powers up Conkeldurr's plethora of punching attacks, including its STAB Mach Punch and Drain Punch. It also got a strong Dark-type coverage move this generation in Knock Off, allowing it to hit Ghost- and Psychic-types hard. Conkeldurr is commonly seen running an Assault Vest to bolster its mediocre base 65 Special Defense. However, it can also use a Life Orb well, as this allows it to run Detect or Wide Guard while increasing its power.

Kyurem-B
Type: Dragon / Ice
Base Stats: 125 HP / 170 Atk / 100 Def / 120 SpA / 90 SpD / 95 Spe
Ability: Terravolt

Kyurem-B is a versatile offensive threat that is tough to handle. It can harness the power of a Choice Band to boost its Attack sky high and plow through teams with Outrage or use a Life Orb coupled with great coverage to push its way through any Pokemon that oppose it. Kyurem-B is also an effective user of Substitute thanks to its Dragon-typing and good bulk which provide it with multiple resists and plenty of opportunities to set up. Although it pales in comparison, Kyurem-B's Special Attack is high, allowing Kyurem-B to dish out heavy damage with Ice Beam and Earth Power in a fully special or a mixed set (thank to its ability Teravolt, Kyurem-B can nail Rotom-W/Rotom-H and Mega Venusaur for super effective damage with Earth Power and Ice Beam, respectively) By virtue of its typing and great defensive stat it is a strong offensive answer to Electric-types and most Grass- and Water-types.

Ferrothorn
Type: Grass / Steel
Base Stats: 74 HP / 94 Atk / 131 Def / 54 SpA / 116 SpD / 20 Spe
Abilities: Iron Barbs / Anticipation

With sky high defenses and a great typing, Ferrothorn is a tricky Pokemon to take down. Ferrothron's ability, Iron Barbs, punishes physical attackers and discourages the use of Fake Out as it will result in a loss of HP. Ferrothorn is a great check to Trick Room and provides good support with moves like Leech Seed and Thunder Wave. It can run a number of items: a Lum Berry to shrug off Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp and OHKO it with Power Whip; Rocky Helmet to compound residual damage in tandem with Iron Barbs; or Leftovers to rack up HP in conjunction with Protect and Leech Seed.

Weavile
Type: Dark / Ice
Base Stats: 70 HP / 120 Atk / 65 Def / 45 SpA / 85 SpD / 125 Spe
Abilities: Pressure / Pickpocket

Weavile boasts the fastest unboosted Fake Out in Smogon Doubles. This allows it to provide great support to powerful leads and get a strong footing against opposing teams. Weavile is no slouch offensively either. It boasts a great attack stat with decent STAB moves in Ice Punch and Knock Off which provide good coverage. Weavile can also use Low Kick to beat Pokemon like Heatran, Tyranitar and Terrakion which usually get the better of it. Weavile can also be paired up with Justified users like Terrakion and give its partner multiple Attack boosts via Beat Up. Unlike Whimsicott, a notorious Beat Up companion of Terrakion, Weavile actually applies offensive pressure to the opponent's team, making it a more formidable Beat Up user. It commonly holds Focus Sash to survive an extra hit that it otherwise couldn't due to its flimsy defense.

ok ill reserve suicune & escavalier

Suicune
Type: Water
Base Stats: 100 HP / 75 Atk / 115 Def / 90 SpA / 115 SpD / 85 Spe
Abilities: Pressure

Thanks to a unique movepool and great bulk, Suicune is able to set itself apart from other Water-types. Its 100 / 115 / 115 defensive stats lets it take plenty of powerful attacks, which is something it uses to great effect with its defensive set. With that set, it can use moves such as Tailwind and Snarl to support its teammate, taking advantage of its bulk to reuse these moves throughout the match. It's not just capable of defense, though. It also performs well as an offensive Tailwind setter because of its good offensive typing and neutral coverage. Pure Water-typing is a good defensive typing, and combine it with Suicune's defensive stats, it can also pull off a bulky Calm Mind sweep.

Escavalier
Type: Bug / Steel
Base Stats: 70 HP / 135 Atk / 105 Def / 60 SpA / 105 SpD / 20 Spe
Abilities: Swarm / Shell Armor / Overcoat

With its good bulk and a defensive typing that grants many resistances, Escavalier has no trouble shrugging off attacks. Also, its base 135 Attack in conjunction with a high-powered Megahorn let it blast holes in opposing teams. This, alongside its good coverage options, allow it to be a threatening attacker. Due to the fact that it performs best without a non-attacking move, it can take advantage of Assault Vest to enhance its bulk. In addition to this, its slow Speed allows it to be very effective under Trick Room. Overcoat helps it in this role since it makes Escavalier an amazing answer to Amoonguss, (since it's immune to Spore and can ignore Rage Powder) which is a commonly used Trick Room check.

Rotom-H
Type: Fire / Electric
Base Stats: 50 HP / 65 Atk / 107 Def / 105 SpA / 107 SpD / 86 Spe
Ability: Levitate

Rotom-H's unique typing and ability combination as well as its useful movepool make up a large portion of its viability. Its Fire typing makes it one of the most reliable sun and Electric (sans Rotom-W) checks in the metagame, and its access to a STAB Thunderbolt to OHKO Mega Charizard Y only adds icing onto the cake. Solid 50 / 108 / 108 defenses, a high 105 Special Attack stat, and an above average base 86 Speed stat lets it both sponge and dish out powerful attacks. With Safety Goggles Rotom-H is unaffected by Venusaur's Sleep Powder, making for a reliable counter to sun. With a strong Overheat as a STAB attack with Electroweb and Thunder Wave for Speed control and Will-O-Wisp for Attack control, Rotom-H can play as both an offensive and a supportive pivot. Unfortunately, it faces stiff competition from Rotom-W, but its typing buys it the significant niche that it has.

Salamence
Type: Dragon / Flying
Base Stats: 95 HP / 135 Atk / 80 Def / 110 SpA / 80 SpD / 100 Spe
Ability: Intimidate / Moxie

Among the many common Intimidate users in the metagame, Salamence stands out as one that is not only able to support with its ability but also able to pose a significant specially offensive presence. Despite the fact that it cannot take advantage of its highest stat due to the prevalence of Intimidate and Attack control, Salamence can still deal a sizable amount of damage with its special attacking or mixed set. With moves such as Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, and Stone Edge in its movepool, Salamence has no trouble dealing super effective damage to a majority of the tier. With Intimidate and Tailwind, it can also provide both Attack and Speed control for the rest of its team. As a Dragon-type, Salamence can be a major asset against sun and rain teams as well.

Pinsir
Type: Bug / Flying
Base Stats: 65 HP / 125 Atk / 100 Def / 55 SpA / 70 SpD / 85 Spe
Mega Stats: 65 HP / 155 Atk / 120 Def / 65 SpA / 90 SpD / 105 Spe
Abilities: Hyper Cutter / Mold Breaker / Moxie
Mega Ability: Aerilate

Mega Pinsir is both powerful and fast, and with an Aerilate Return, can deal heavy damage to opponents very quickly. A sky high base 155 Attack stat makes its Return one of the most powerful attacks in the tier, and its base 105 Speed stat helps it trump the important base 100 Speed tier. A powerful priority Feint also makes it a very potent offensive support Pokemon, and its wide array of coverage moves makes it extremely difficult to wall; it's worth noting that Mega Pinsir's Feint can even crack Aegislash's King's Shield. With Hyper Cutter as a primary ability before Mega Evolution, it also prevents Intimidate users from switching in and nullifying its Attack stat. All of this, when combined with its great defenses, make Pinsir a frightening threat.
