To whoever cares
I care! I care a lot!

What you did to her hair in the first picture caught my attention right from the start, and what the first image lacked in glow is well made up for in its second iteration. It's also interesting to see how the burning building around her changed from the first to the second picture, but the way it looks in the end leaves me with nothing to remark at. Exquisite, if anything else.

Her face and back is rather bright, however, as if there's another light source behind the viewer. But with the intense fire going on in the back, the things facing away from it would still appear darker by comparison, so it may be something to consider. The dress in the latter image confused my sight several times as well, or to be specific the lower right corner, but if it has less highlights (like in the first image), then the issue won't be as big. I'm not familiar with the character though, so if her dress actually glows on its own, then this whole paragraph is less solid.

Also, what's the deal with the pixie dust?

How the fuck do you manage to do this in one weekend?! Your art is amazing man. The lighting, the colors, the details in the background, everything comes together nicely. Luvdisc'd!

That second version is epic. Especially the detail in the hair. Her clothes have a firey theme to it.

No matter how hard I try, I still can't color like that.

Practice and practice. Draw until you drop and I mean it.

Since I got a job I've been drawing more than I ever did before and I have literally no free time except for weekends which I prefer to use to draw something I want to do, like this Rin here.

I updated it by the way thanks Bummer and various people

Her fire gown looks more detailed now.

I too don't get much time to draw these days with stuff like full time school. D:

It's awesome you got a job that makes use of your best abilities.

Real nice! I like the use of warm colors and the variety they create despite being a narrow selection, particularly how you used purple as shade.

also how long did that take

Dat sky and body shading. I only draw the former as white blobs and the latter as cel shaded masses. I should get around changing that. I also like the wam sunset lighting in your latest image, it certainly makes the view less dull.

As for nitpicks, the buff girl could have her head located slightly to her right, doesn't feel like it's in the middle of her shoulders (and thus gave me the impression that there's a billboard image in front of her). And as for the female giant, the way her body leans doesn't look right to me, particularly her right arm and the straight trail from her belly button. I'm no women specialist, but maybe you should doublecheck it.

also maybe you should NSWF that in hide tags .///.

pre-empting cap4

Awesome poke cap designs and giant woman. I have no critiques to give as I dislike judging/critiquing others, especially people more skilled than me.

Speaking of which, is is true you start greyscale first and then put the colors in or was that graying part of the PS glitch that also left the clean cut rectangles. {Rectangles being cut out of my artwork has happened to me when saving went wrong, and oversaturation bands that took out entire segments as well.

And now back to the artwork, if that bee poke was in game already, I'd put it on my team. Speaking of which, is is Bug/Psychic? I don't think theres a bug/psychic in game.

Doing it in black/white first helps me lay down the values and get better colours

You really nailed the soft skin tone lighting on that drawing/ The amount of detail you put into the background is just.. wow.

A tutorial would be much appreciated some time... *hint hint*

Yilx: Ah I see. I figured it might be that, and ended up improving. Thanks for letting us know some of your methods.

How do you place colors by the way? I used color replacement tool or put a layer under the shading layers with a color. I'm still experimenting though. Thanks again.

For some reason, I learn more by just trying to figure out somebodies methods from the hints and clues they leave than by straight up tutorials.

How you choose to colour it is up to you to be honest, I'm still experimenting on ways myself

Your works are amazing, Yilx. I really like the touches you make with warmer colors. It gives your pieces that realistic sense of light ^^ I'm amazed how all of your works have emotional sense in it, be it in facial expressions, dynamic poses or colors. You are definitely something I look up to, so keep on doing art ^^

I have been lurking this thread for very long now, and I completely adore most of your art. I especially like your use of warm colors and shading. Keep up the good work. :)

Even your scibbles have depth, is this a finished image or a dormant one?

Also what brush settings did you use for this one? I have the brushes, but I could use some directions on how to get that smudgy look.

soldier girl
Very stylish. Always had a soft spot for girl in uniforms.

Not sure if the bright light is supposed to reach her left shoulder and lower hair, though. The bottom part of her coat could also use a more gradient lighting rather than brushed. My five cents.

Best image in the CAP 4 gallery, no lie. But as a concept, I felt it to be lacking in the psychic department, so I gave my vote to the other guy. But it was good to see how this design evolved from the bugger with large, soft eyes to the intimidating pharao menace it is now, so the fact that it made it to the final should leave no one surprised.
