It's happening! Doubles is here!
With the advent of Gen 6 and the rising usage and popularity of the Doubles metagame, we in Smogon have decided it's time this tier gets an official status.
While the tier itself is going to be official starting 12th October 2013, the day Gen 6 comes out worldwide, the Doubles team is undergoing an adaptation period where the Doubles metagame is adapting to the Contributions and Corrections process and making its very own forum grow so all new players can learn all about it and start participating in the Doubles community before the official date.
As with all Smogon official and unofficial metagames, you can play Doubles in Pokémon Showdown, our sim of choice that allows us to play our thrilling Doubles battles in a very active ladder. ~Joim

Both UnderUsed and RarelyUsed just finished up their suspect testing for this month. UU's suspect was Froslass, who is now banished to BL by an 11-6 vote in favor of a ban. You can view the votes here, while the suspect discussion and post-voting discussion can be found in the np: UU Stage 13 thread. Victini is projected to be the next suspect, so be sure to watch the thread for updates and share your thoughts on whether or not Victini is deserving of a ban.
The thoughts of the RarelyUsed community were scattered in the Stage 15 suspect vote. Hail was the main focus, and Snow Warning as a whole was ultimately banned through an instant runoff vote with the options being: Ban Snow Warning, Ban Snow Warning + Ice Body, Ban Walrein, and No Ban. As always, you can view the votes, suspect discussion, and post your thoughts in the np: RU Stage 16 thread. ~DittoCrow

Smogon's 8th official World Cup of Pokemon is now down in the history books with a telling story of Team USA East's victory over Team Asia by a score of 6 to 2. The Create-A-Pokémon project has just begun making a new Pokémon in the CAP forums! This is the latest effort by Smogon's popular Create-A-Pokémon Project, where the community decides every aspect of a completely new competitive Pokémon. Over the next several weeks, we'll be voting as a community on the typing, stats, ability, movepool, art design, sprites, and name of our very own Pokémon. When the new Pokémon is finished, it will be used in real battles on Pokemon Showdown! The project involves a varied cross-section of hundreds of Smogon members contributing metagame analysis, writing, art and sprites. The process has just gotten started, so now is the perfect opportunity to get involved.

The Create-A-Pokemon community would like to present to you our newest creation: Malaconda! After 82 days of intense debating, creative submissions, and community voting, our ship has arrived at the harbor. Although the voyage was filled with hazards, arguments, and conflicting visions, we managed to work together and complete the journey. Malaconda is a Dark / Grass Pokémon that's designed to serve as an equalizer of the types; it's a threat to certain Water- and Dragon-types. Specifically, it's meant to take down some of sun teams' most imminent threats, including Politoed and Latias. It's got a few nifty tricks too; don't be surprised if it regenerates its Berry with Harvest or paralyzes your Ground-types with Glare!
Since we've finished creating our new Pokemon, it's time for the official CAP 5 playtest to begin! The playtest is limited to a two week period where competitive Pokemon battlers will play in a metagame consisting of Black 2 & White 2 Overused Pokemon and Malaconda. This isolated test will determine how well Malaconda held to its original concept. Perhaps you'll develop a synergistic sun team featuring Malaconda utilizing LumRest, or fight against the competition with your favorite rain and sand teams. If you like to experiment and battle in a fun, creative, and combative environment in OU with an entirely new competitive Pokemon, check out Pokemon Showdown! to get your fix.
If you're interested in CAP in general, head on over to the CAP forum, where we're running a variety of side projects. We still have to decide on Malaconda's third ability (it's going to be non-competitive) and Pokédex entries, so please join us and vote for those! Scope out the CAP sub-site if you're looking to discover more information on CAP. We're always on the lookout for new members who want to get involved with our community. It doesn't matter if you're a veteran battler, a savvy artist, or an energetic debater, we'd love to have you on board! CAP is always cooking up something new, so why not join in on the fun? ~Birkal

From April 22nd - April 29th, Sephazon of YouTube is hosting a Pokemon themed charity stream for Charity Water. The donation goal for the event is $50,000 (you can donate and learn more here); the stream is being conducted on the official Elite Four Twitch account. The stream will be divided into three hour shifts, which other great Pokemon experts, let's players, and fans will be taking over. Pokemon Showdown is standing alongside Sephazon and his goal by providing him with the necessary tools to get the word out about this charity event.
