GRAND FINALS

Ann vs ratpacker

First off, congrats to both Ann and ratpacker for making it to grand finals, and thank you all other participants so far for playing. It has been a very fun tournament to watch and we got some really high level games out of it, which is more than I could've hoped for when talking about the initial idea.

I want to quickly lay out the rules for Grand Finals, including the specifics of a potential bracket reset. For those familiar, it will just be a classic double elimination bracket grand final with a bracket reset.
  • Both players will play their first teamlock bo3 as normal. If Ann wins, we don't need to consider the bracket reset because she is in the winners bracket.
  • If ratpacker wins the first set, he will need to win a second set as well to win, since he is coming in from the losers bracket. both players will have the option to lock a different/new team for the second teamlock bo3.
  • potentially 6 games of pokemon at once is a lot, so I will leave it to you two to decide if you want to play right away or schedule a new time for the second bo3 in case there is one.
I will give you both a soft deadline of July 7th to complete grand finals, but if for whatever reason you need longer feel free to extend. Just obviously dont stall the game forever.

Prizepool (To be paid out after grand finals has completed)
  • 1st: $450 - TBD
  • 2nd: $225 - TBD
  • 3rd: $75 - emforbes

I'm like really terrible at doing shoutouts, so just bear with me. First off, again, thank you shadekirby321 for inviting me and making this possible, as well as eragon for hosting; really enjoyed the tour. On another note, congrats to ratpacker for his solid performances throughout this tournament, you're an amazing player.
Now onto the actual shoutouts, I can't express how grateful I am with Akaru Kokuyo, you have been one of my best friends on this site and one of the people that contribute it to my growth as a player, always helping me teambuilding wise. Similarly, I also want to give a massive shoutout to SMB, who helped with Akaru, throughtout this tour; you were one of my first friends on smogon and basically the one that got me here playing Doubles.
Axel you didn't helped me with builds or anything like that, but you were always cheering me on and giving me emotional support in my endeavors. We don't talk too much lately, but you are one of my greatest friends and I appreciate you a lot for all of our years that we have been talking, doing witchy things, and in general just being a support for each other both irl and on this game. Shion We also don't talk too much regularly these days, but we have years of being good friends that no matter how much time has passed, we always get to connect with each other too well. I know you're wishing me the best, just as I do with you, thanks for the emotional support my friend.

Congrats to Ann for winning! And thank you to everyone who participated for making this a smooth experience. We had no hiccups at all and everything basically ran itself, which is all I could ask for as a first time tournament host. Ann, ratpacker, and emforbes have all been paid (I can provide proof if needed). In case of any disputes, let me know and we will figure out how to resolve them.

I would like to run another invitational in the future, but although team lock was an interesting concept I think it wasn't as fun and competitive as I had initially hoped. For the next one I will try to come up with something else fun and interesting again. If we get a new game/format announcement, I will try to run an invitational early on in that with a similar playerpool.

Thanks again everyone who watched, participated, and helped run this!
