Gonna be pretty critical with my votes here, also looking to give reasoning and feedback to them. A fair few of the subs I may vote No on may not even be because I think they're bad subs but because I'd like to see how the meta looks beforehand.

Simply put, I think this is just too weak. Its hit taking capabilities are alright, but if you take a Knock Off, you're done for, but the main issue is it does basically nothing once it's on the field. Its damage output is incredibly low, making it very easy for most mons to just switch around it without any worries and it has to rely on moves like Screech or Tailwind to have an effect on the game which is just not great.

Main thing for me is that its matchup spread is just gonna be too extreme. Sheer Force mons are notably powerful and usually held back by Speed, but this is definitely fast. It seems like it would be capable of running over entire teams quite easily. However, it's basically hard-walled by Fires which is its main downside. I don't think it's broken, but being too strong against most mons and too weak against one specific type kind is not a dynamic I'm particularly fond of.

Relatively strong I think, but it fills some pretty good roles, notably punishing contact moves, but without the stats being too minmaxed or the weakness count being too low. I do wish its utility movepool wasn't as wide, but I like it.

My own sub, so kind of obvious. I do think it might get powercrept since it's not as bulky as it seems and, even with perfect coverage, its power isn't insane or anything, but I think it has sufficient tools to be interesting.

I think this helps set a precedent for what we should be worrying about offensively as it's quite strong, but there's definitely room to add walls that do well into it not to mention Priority or Scarf users that would beat it out.

It's not broken or anything, I just think it's a bit early for a mon with no weaknesses.

Not broken either, but I'd rather wait to add Weather or Terrain setting as those tend to create archetypes of their own and, if we get Drizzle in, we'll build an entire metagame around Rain and a strong Water-typing.

Magic Guard Strength Sap is some evil bullshit, that being said its stats and typing are definitely low enough to help keep it in check quite well and it should have a number of ways to help force progress which I think is a right step to take.

I know we talked about it a fair bit, but I still think the statline is very high and it's a sub I'd rather introduce later once we better know the powerlevel of the meta since this could push it forward very quickly compared to the other mons we have this slate.

The Speed and bulk are somewhat on the low side all the while the STABs hit very little offensively and it lacks options to enable sets like Scarf, which makes me feel like it'd end up being too awkward to slot or to awkward to make use of because it's not as flexible or splashable as you'd want.

There are a few abilities I think we should be very careful with since hazards are basically gone and one of them is Unaware. Since hazards are gone, pressuring defensive cores will likely involve using strong setup attackers or other forms of passive damage, like Toxic. I think this shuts down a bit too many options to pressure it properly.

I was about to vote No because I hadn't noticed Morning Sun, so good thing I took a closer look. I do think a defensive Dragon-type could be quite valuable and Knock Off+Super Fang+Taunt are super sick stallbreaking tools that work well in this new meta. Those tools alongside Dragon Hammer help make up for the Attack stat being fairly low.

I'm pretty split here. For one, I do think Pain Split should be listed as a notable move as its HP is relatively low and it serves as its only form of recovery and, while I do think it seems like a solid defensive mon, it also seems mighty annoying. Poison spreading with Merciless and Baneful Bunker makes the switchin seem fairly limited and you can still cripple opposing Poison and Steel types with Stun Spore. Bulky Setup sets also seem like a pain even though they'd likely be answered pretty well by Steels, but all I'll say is Acid Armor+Calm Mind+Draining Kiss is nightmare fuel for me.

And awaterbucketonlava Rasdanation Orangesodapop your subs will need weight values at some point.
90.7 kg
This guy unfortunately feels very underwhelming. This is Skarm with somehow even less offensive presense, and no hazard utility given the deleted types. If we have an Iron Barbs/Rough Skin mon, I'd personally like it to have something to do other than spam recovery.
idk how to feel about this one. It's kinda like Lokix, except with Ice instead Dark. It seems more potent given the better coverage & lack of hazards, but at the same time its still frail to kingdom come.
Fire/Poison is one of the biggest winners, and imo this presents the type combo in a fair light. It's bulky and can hit a lot things, but I expect us to get a lot of faster mons who can threaten it to decent extent.
I don't have too much to say on this guy, but he seems like a solid addition all around.
130 attack w/ 101 speed seems a bit centralizing for a DDancer imo. Maybe if it were just that I would consider it but being immune to status moves on top of all that I find a bit concerning.
This feels very similar to Stone Bold's sub in concept, but I think that one was executed better. No weaknesses can be kinda crazy on a defensive mon like this and I think I'd rather see it on something with a more offensive role rather than defensive.
It's a bulky attacker with lackluster setup and no good recovery. I could see it being maybe viable on the rain setter angle, however idk how much people care about adding weather setters this early on, so I'll abstain.
While Magic Guard is a bit lost on this mon given the lack of hazards to begin with, I could see this being a cool defensive pivot thanks to Strength Sap recovery & Slow U-Turn utility. Strength Sap can be annoying, but at the end of the day it's still a bug type.
My own sub. I recognize Mossy's concerns with stat bloating, but imo this sets a sort of cap on what to expect of special bulk which can be helpful in the long run. Besides, introducing it now can let future subs determine whether or not they wish to be given Poison coverage to make pretty big progress on this.
I'm terrible at judging the balance of Huge Power mons.
In Pet Mods like this, Unaware walls are typically introduced as answers to specific rampant setup sweepers. I'd like for us to get further in the mod before we consider adding an Unaware mon.
Bulky Dragon that sets some Defensive expectation for the slates to come. What more could you ask for?
This choice seems to be a bit divisive but imo it establishes some valuable utility. If this doesn't win, I could see it coming back say without webs, as I understand people aren't too keen on Hazards within this mod's execution.

Too little moves, very exploitable.
KnockTurn sighted + No bugs.
I don't actually have thoughts on this aside from it looking alright. I just need to write something here so that the hide button doesn't disappear.
Hi Mossy.
It would set a precedent for a higher power level, but stats + ability is really concerning despite the limited coverage.
On one hand, it's a type combo with no weaknesses. On the other hand, it's a Magcargo.
Not fond of weather this early either.
MG KnockTurnSap seems kind of dumb, but it's slow with bad typing. Also, no bugs.
This should be Grass/Psychic if I'm reading it right? Possibly fine, but it raises the bar a bit too high for my liking.
NMT Diggersby.
Bit early for Unaware + Recover.
Decently mid, a welcome addition.
ngl, forgot about AA CM shenanigans.

Slate 2

Same as the last slate but now we have an established power level. One sub again, so you should try to build it around the mons we have. Resubs are allowed but might not be the best idea unless you plan to heavily modify them. After all, you have exactly one sub, and you might not know the exact reason why your sub didn't get voted.

Some potential ideas for you all...
  • Something that'd be great to establish here would be the meta's Speed tiers. We'd need some offensive Pokemon to do this, maybe a pivot, maybe a more fragile Pokemon with a boosting move, or maybe a Choice Scarf user. A pivot or something especially fast would need to be a bit easier to handle defensively. What would be a good "benchmark" Speed tier for this meta to establish, and how could you make a Pokemon interesting to use while fitting one of those three qualities I mentioned before?
  • We still only have one purely offensive Pokemon, that being Hoptuit, which is a slower breaker. Another breaker or two could be nice here. Hoptuit is one of those that's harder to get onto the field, but much higher-reward as its typing, coverage, and Huge Power make it incredibly difficult to switch into and things like Quick Attack help it against faster opponents. How about another slower or mid-speed breaker that's easier to get onto the field through defensive typing or some other utility, but is less high-reward by comparison in one way or another?
  • This isn't something we need to be at all strict on maintaining but types that are currently on zero Fakemon include: Dark, Fighting, Flying, Ghost, and Steel.
  • I might not keep this up for future slates, but an idea I had back when coming up with the idea for this mod was to implement Restrictions like the old Pet Mod of mine. I decided against hard enforcing this because I felt the fact that you had one sub per slate would keep things interesting for longer. There's been concern with some mods feeling like all slates of theirs kind of blend into one another though. This is here to potentially help alleviate that for those of you who need it. Keep in mind that you should still be trying to make your sub different from everyone else's.

Will be giving less time for this slate seeing how fast the subs got there. Around 72 hours for subs! As usual, please let me know if this isn't enough time, although everyone got done in less than half that time last slate so I dunno if that'll be the case lmao

Ah, figures. Who knew weather shaped a metagame from the start? But...
OH NO...By rejecting the waterwheel, you've gave the people of this electricity free world no power. Every island...every coastal city...gone.

Movepool: Ivy Cudgel, Trop Kick, Leaf Blade, Rapid Spin, Aerial Ace, Trailblaze, Seed Bomb, Iron Head, Smart Strike, Hard Press, Air Slash, Grass Knot, Giga Drain, Energy Ball, Leaf Storm, Flash Cannon, Steel Beam, Surf, Leech Seed, Strength Sap, Spiky Shield, Taunt, Confuse Ray, Toxic, Swords Dance, Iron Defense, Hyper Beam, Giga Impact, Take Down, Facade, Substitute, Tera Blast, Protect, Endure, Sleep Talk, Rest, Solar Blade, Grassy Glide, False Swipe, Endeavor, Metal Claw, Heavy Slam, Metal Sound, Barrage, Leafage, Flatter, Quash
Weight: 23.1 kg.
Flavor: How would anyone ever entertain themselves in a world without electricity? The answer is simple: They enlist the help of these friendly Pokémon, a beach dwelling species known as Areclutta! They consist of a group of individual Pokémon that spend most of the time stacked together as a palm tree, carrying around a fake plastic bush to serve as the leaves. They can split up to replicate the gameplay of any known board game, and thus some people often employ them to help entertain the little children by replicating so many board games while also saving space for the pieces! However, some see it as a harbinger of doom, as every time the Pokémon that make up Areclutta land on the ground, a little wave forms around them that often develops into a tsunami if it reaches the water.
Role: If you come to think about it, Grass basically becomes the new Dragon-type now that two of the types weak to it are gone...and this Pokémon takes full advantage of that by being a Physical Setup Sweeper that can easily take out walls! Fire will melt it, but if it can pull off a Swords Dance, your opponents are in for a world of pain with access to moves like Trop Kick, Wood Hammer, and, most importantly, Ivy Cudgel! (Which is basically a slightly stronger Leaf Blade since Areclutta is not an Ogerpon) It also has access to Strength Sap for healing, and Spiky Shield for defence! It's main weakness is STAB moves: It only has Aerial Ace to deal with Fighting types and it's only Water-type attack to deal with Fire is Special.

Weight: 0.3 kg
Description: Decently fast and flexible Ghost. Choiced sets have a bunch of random utility moves to choose from and there's a decent amount of coverage options here as well. Most of this coverage is pretty specialized and won't be great to Choice lock into, but may be best to surprise certain checks in the future or to run on sets that don't run a Choice item. Should note in case people aren't aware that Defog is not a Wind move so Wind Rider would not give this thing Gholdengo levels of spinblocking lmao

Design: Nidoking/Rhydon/Aggron body type Pokemon with iron plating covering several parts of its body.
Competitive Description: Physically-based setup sweeper with moderate stats. It can easily setup on physical attackers but is somewhat susceptible to special attacks. Unlike most Fighting-types, Kiplate doesn't have Close Combat, and is instead reliant on other moves for its Fighting STAB. While not immune to drops from Superpower or Sticky Web, it is immune to any future Intimidate or move drops. Its stats and abilities may be slightly altered later. It can also use Filter to give itself more setup opportunities.

Description: maybe, just maybe, it's time for Gravity to make a comeback. The removal of grounds, electrics, AND rocks sucks, to be frank, now creating a massive gap in them Flyer's problems that can only be solved by one thing.
Gravity. "But who do we have to actually abuse gravity?" you might say, and to your horror, it's a Grass type with Grav Apple. Frittonian's made to cooperate with the ability in many ways, including having a good amount of lower-accuracy moves (and also Grav Apple but shut up) to benefit from it. Frittonian allows you to reign terror over those bootless birds, and with Grav Apple's defense-lowering properties, can break through a lot of slower defensive mons. Frittonian also functions well without Gravity through its "signature" move to cope with the somewhat apparent lack of Setup outside of Work Up.

No, Grass is not the new Dragon type. Dragon type offensively shines from its plethora of neutral coverage, to which grass does not have the honors of, given how many things resist it. Strength Sap on a Grass/Steel sounds obnoxious af.
Flying is kinda dumb in this meta, so I like wind rider here providing some extra ways to play around it.
Sharpness Tachyon cutter becomes a drawbackless 150 bp Steel STAB, compared to Gigaton Hammer's 160 bp w/ a minor drawback. Not to mention this has an actually viable attacking stat & cannot be hindered by burn by nature of being a special attack. This feels way too much for something that is intended to be the fastest thing in the entire meta.
Despite what the other votes might suggest, this seems to me to actually be the most well-balanced Steel sub.
imma be 100% honest, this is never running Gravity. However, the remaining content is still cool so I'm voting yes anyways.

Slate 3

You guys know the drill by now. Some suggestions...
  • Not many winners from last slate so one or two more offensive 'mons would be nice. In particular, not a single one of our winners was over base 100 Speed, which I think would be a nice place to establish more benchmarks.
  • Now might be a decent time to start working on some kind of more specific offense archetype, like a weather or Screens or something similar. Ideally this would be by making a setter for one of those archetypes. You technically wouldn't have to for Webs and could work on a Webs abuser instead since Prophetune lacks a lot of stuff you'd want on a Webs setter but that may be counterbalanced by how rare Boots and Levitate are gonna be here. Otherwise, my eyes are still on Sand being more interesting here since so many fewer Pokemon will be immune to its chip.
  • We still lack any Dark-types or Flying-types.
  • Optional Restrictions this time around for those who want them...

Design: Bird-like Pokemon based on shrikes, which are birds that are known to skewer prey on sharp branches and sticks.
Competitive Description: Fast Sharpness attacker on both sides of the spectrum. For physical sets it can use Swords Dance + high base power moves (Night Slash, Brave Bird, Leaf Blade) to try and chunk defensive Pokemon or use Knock Off to allow help its teammates.
Alternatively, it can use special sets to target Pokemon that expect to stop it on the physical side using Air Slash (112.5 power with Sharpness) and other moves.

Flavor: If you're wondering why humanity in a world without electricity is facing extinction at every turn...this bird's the answer. By speaking through it's earpiece, it influences other people to spread any disease they might have to other people, who in turn spread their own diseases, and because medical care is very primitive in this world, meeting an Influenca is a one way ticket to the afterlife. And don't even think being healthy will protect you from Influenca's wrath, because it is actually made out of avian influenza, AKA the bird flu!
Role: So, you want an archetype starter? This offensive bird has Toxic Debris, Mortal Spin, Tailwind, and Defog at it's arsenal, allowing it to furfil a variety of supportive roles, on top of having screens!

Stats: 72 / 45 / 75 / 110 / 94 / 124 [520 BST]

Moves: Agility, Aqua Jet, Aqua Tail, Assurance, Aurora Beam, Beat Up, Brine, Brutal Swing, Chilling Water, Disarming Voice, Dive, Double-Edge, Echoed Voice, Embargo, Endure, Facade, Fake Tears, Feint Attack, Flatter, Fling, Flip Turn, Growl, Hyper Voice, Ice Ball, Ice Beam, Icy Wind, Knock Off, Life Dew, Memento, Muddy Water, Protect, Pursuit, Quick Attack, Rain Dance, Rest, Round, Scald, Sleep Talk, Snarl, Snatch, Snore, Soak, Sparkling Aria, Substitute, Surf, Switcheroo, Tackle, Take Down, Taunt, Tera Blast, Thief, Torment, Uproar, Water Gun, Water Pulse, Water Sport, Waterfall, Wave Crash, Whirlpool
Flavor: This Pokemon is a nimble dolphin that utilizes its agility to mess with humans. It has an eye for shiny things, often going out of their way to steal valuable items.
Competitive Overview: Speedy offensive pivot that primarily acts as a disruptor (Scald burn, Snarl SpAtk drops, Taunt utility). While it has a high speed & solid special attack stat, its special STABs consist of primarily 80-90 bp options such as Scald & Technician-boosted Snarl. Technician may boost flip turn, but on a rather poor attacking stat, so it shouldn’t be anything too overwhelming. Gets Ice Beam as a way to get past Osyad resisting both STABs.
