TM27: Return (Wifi Borderline Team)
I'm trying to get back into Pokemon, but like many others I'm getting tired of OU pokemon. So I'm experimenting with Borderline pokemon I might be willing to try, to challenge my team building skills.
The team I'm building is for Wifi only, so please think of convenience when giving your suggestions. I prefer to train my own pokemon, and I'm not going to spend hours to days breeding IVs to get perfect Hidden Powers or to maximize the strength of a Bronzong's Gyro Ball, for instance.
At a Glance
What I really want to create is a team that can adapt to circumstances and maintain a solid offense, without having to go to any extremes in order to do so. Of course, this team doesn't really fit that description at all. At the moment, I'm really just trying ideas and seeing what I might like to work with.
So yeah, it's basically a generic offense team with some "less-than stellar" pokemon right now.
Porygon2 @ Leftovers
Trace
Bold: 252HP/160Def/98SpA
~ Ice beam
~ Magic coat
~ Recover
~ Thunderbolt
Anti-metagame leads seem to be the popular thing right now. The EV spread gives me a slight extra out against Gyarados and Garchomp, and Magic Coat keeps status off my back (particularly Blissey's Thunder Wave, giving me an opening to switch and retaliate regardless of set)
Metagross @ Choice Band
Clear Body
Adamant: 252HP/236Atk/12Def/8Spe
~ Earthquake
~ Explosion
~ Meteor Mash
~ Bullet Punch
Steelix and Empoleon won't cut it, so I needed to borrow from OU to protect myself from Weavile. Bullet Punch seals its doom, and I can even explode in case things go wrong. Again, not going to breed Bronzong for Gyro Ball.
Ludicolo @ Leftovers
Swift Swim
Calm: 252HP/76SpA/180SpD
~ Leech Seed
~ Protect
~ Surf
~ Toxic
Not many good special walls in BL besides Miltank, as far as I saw. Does a decent job at keeping bulky grounds at bay. Fellow waters get a taste of Toxic and Leech Seed.
Mesprit @ Leftovers
Levitate
Bold: 252HP/176Def/80SpA
~ Ice Beam
~ Psychic
~ Thunderbolt
~ U-turn
Call it me "playing it safe." Decent stats all around, and Levitate giving it an excelent chance to come in and ruin Garchomp's fun. Psychic is here in an attempt to keep Gengar in check.
Pikachu @ Light Ball
Static
Hasty/Naive: 152Atk/104SpA/252Spe
~ Focus Punch
~ Grass Knot
~ Substitute
~ Thunderbolt
... Alright, alright. I thought it would be fun to try out. Clear out any possible obstacles, then clean up. Using this thing just might be the key to strengthening my prediction skills.

Adamant: 28HP/252Atk/228Spe
~ Dragon Dance
~ Earthquake
~ Ice Punch
~ Waterfall
In my experience with wielding it on Shoddy Battle, this thing is surprisingly sturdy and can be used to limited potency during the early game in order to get things rolling. Not having any particular weaknesses helps a lot, but it's hard to get things out of the way for a sweep.
The problem with this team is finding the right Steel type besides Bronzong to cover my otherwise deadly Weavile weak, while also maintaining a strong fire attack so Skarmory and bulky steels/grasses don't wall me. That seems to be a problem with every team I make, actually. I succeed in adding someone with a decent fire attack for coverage, but Blissey always walls it too easily, and inevitably it buckles under pressure (Flygon, Camerupt, Arcanine)
Remember: BL.
