Regigigas gets two event moves; at a price....

In case you hadn't heard, there is going to be a Jappanese promo Regigigas released soon:

Regigigas @ Cutsap Berry
Iron Head
Icy Wind

Rock Slide
Crush Grip

Icy wind give Regigigas another special move, which would make a special moveset more viable, cause Regigigas would love to slow down enemies, but it comes at a price

Regigigas is at Lvl 100

So unless Nintendo does a first and releases it EV trained, then you'll have a Regigigas with two event moves, but no EVs. Which makes it a bit unusable on wifi, which will probably should translate over to shoddy

Uhm, iirc you can train a level 100 pokemon, when you're done ev training just put it into and out of a PC box and its stats will be updated.

Still, I don't see this as anything spectacular.

It can be EV'd, just only up to 100 in each stat. Unless you hack a 255 EV Vitamin... which is cheating =/

Although, I personally don't see the appeal of icy wind/Iron head. It has T-wave to slow stuff down, so the only real target of icy wind would be Garchomp, but I dunno. I can't really see any use for Regigigas other than a Wall, so... I dunno =/

It was only for RBY/GSC. It doesn't work on Advance/DP.

I thought for level 100 pokemon it worked in advance as well? I heard of many people re-eving their level 100 legendaries in advance, but was sad to learn it didn't work on d/p.

Not being able to re-ev that level 100 pokemon you got in a trade is a horrid thing.

Wow, way to go Nintendo :[ but you never know, the new version might have a rare candy that decreases level instead...

(P.S. what does iirc mean?)

new version can't have that, it would have to be in the programming for this game.

iirc == If I Recall/Remember Correctly

Shoddy Battle will probably be removing event moves in the future so this isn't relevant for it. The Custap Berry it comes with is much more interesting!

The box trick doesn't work in any adv generation game onward. It only worked in RBY and GSC because they allowed stat exp to be gained for level 100 Pokemon. In adv and DP, it just doesn't check to add it for a level 100 Pokemon since it stops checking for stuff like that after it can't add experience points.

Looks like we'll be having a Regigigas with 100 HP, 100 attack, 100 defense, 8 special attack, 100 special defense, and 100 speed EVs in the near future.

Of course this is all under the condition that the IV's of Big Regi are worth the ev training. Sounds like one for the collectors...

Icy Wind is nice, especially for lowering speed of ground types, and hitting them with SE (Garchomp, I'm looking at you), but the fact that it may be coming at Lv100..

Regigigas is still *slightly* useable on TR teams and maybe some of the more gimmicky BL-ish teams. But I agree that Icy Wind isn't enough of an improvement to it to make it viable in anything resembling OU play, especially when taking the EV limitations into account.

If you were going to use it in TR, I think people would give up Icy Wind to be able to EV it properly.

I sure as hell hope Shaymin doesn't come level 100 only :( Talk about giving us a pokemon we can actually use, then making it totally useless.

I suppose Nintendo wants to promote use of Giga Impact, which Regigigas only learns at Level 100...it makes sense that it would only learn it then, but it's not even exclusive to Regi (unlike Judgment and Seed Flare) and the one-turn-recharge sucks.

Umm don't we have a TM for that?
