My OU Team

Hey!
This is my first post on the smogon's foruns, and I want to know what you think of my OU team. I already tested it, and I won more than I lost but, I feel like posting it here so you can tell me the problems with it and how to fix them.

This is my team. It's quite offensive with exception of Cresselia, who is my wall. The main goal of this team is try to sweep with Gyarados. My team is not built around beating the counters of Gyarados because I don't like to get stuck on a strategy. If I fail to sweep with Gyarados I'll just continue with my other pokemon until the end.

Team Analysis

mamoswine.png

Mamoswine (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Oblivious
Evs: 4 HP/252 Attack/252 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
-
Stealth Rock
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Endeavor

Description:
Before saying the roll of Mamoswine on the team(which I think you already know), I'll answer the question you guys are(or should be) doing right know:
Why whould you put Oblivious instead of Snow Cloak on Mamoswine?!

Simple, endeavor. Lets imagine that I'm battling agaisnt a Abomasnow with choice scarf. He uses wood hammer, but it misses(because of Snow Cloak) and Mamoswine uses endeavor, but it fails. Now my oponent knows my surprise move and will switch, possibly, to a ghost type pokemon to counter it. (This is just an example).
Moving on, Mamoswine is my team's lead. He's just awesome! Lets see how he does agaisnt the top 10 leads:

1. Metagross: EQ will OHKO it (unless it has a shuca berry or HP evs);
2. Azelf: Azelf is a tricky pokemon, smart trainers will, possibly, use Fire Blast agaisnt Mamoswine, but others will just Stealth Rock, which is a problem since I'll be stuck thinking on what move to use (Endeavor or SR);
3. Jirachi: Jirachi is another tricky pokemon, it's just too unpredictable. On most cases I'll use EQ, and it will almost OHKO, and then I'll proceed to use Ice Shard. But if Jirachi has iron head it has that stupid possibility to flinch my Mamoswine, and that will screw me up. :|
4. Tyranitar: Same as Metagross.
5. Infernape: Gets destroyed by EQ and Ice Shard combination.
6. Aerodactyl: Ice Shard will 2HKO it.
7. Bronzong: Gets destroyed by Endeavor and Ice Shard combination.
8. Hippowdon: In most cases I'll use Stealth Rock and switch to a better counter.
9. Swampert: The endeavor+ Ice shard combination will destroy it.
10. Ninjask: Ice shard will 2HKO it.

Other common leads:
Heatran: EQ will OHKO it even if it has a Shuca Berry.
Roserade and Gengar: I'll switch to someone take a Sleep Powder/Hypnosys and then switch back to Mamoswine. Mamoswine will beat it with the Endeavor+ Ice shard combination.(I'll switch to a counter in Gengar's case.)
Zapdos, Salamence, Yanmega: Ice Shard will ruin them. (maybe not Zapdos).
Machamp and Gyarados: Endeavor+Ice shard combination.
Ambipom: I'll switch to Gengar to take a Fake out, then switch back in Mamoswine.
Abomasnow: Hmmm, I'll Stealth Rock and switch to a counter.

s_gengar.png

Gengar (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/ 252 speed/252 Spc. Attack
Nature: Timid
Moveset:
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Energy Ball
- Hidden Power Ice

Discription:
Gengar is my special attacker, he has perfect coverage moves! Shadow is his STAB move, Thunderbolt and HP Ice make a Pseudo bolt combination which is always useful, and the final move Energy Ball is a filler that lets me hit Rock types, Ground types harder than HP Ice and lets me finish off Swampert and Rhyperior in one hit, those two are pokemon I just hate for some reason.
I chose Expert Belt instead of Life Orb because i think Gengar is too frail to use a Life Orb.
Gengar is a great pokemon because he OHKOs almost any pokemon that it hits for super effective damage, and that's why i chose him to my team.

s_gyarados.png

Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 90 HP?/252 Attack/ 168 Speed
Nature: Jolly
Moveset:
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang

Discription:
Gyarados is my Physical Attacker and my main sweeper. Gyarados is a beast! A base 125 attack, Dragon Dance, a STAB with a chance of flinch, great typing,...
After a Dragon Dance it CAN sweep teams that aren't prepared to it. Jolteon will no longer be a problem because I got a jolly nature and the unique pokemon that will be able to deal with it are the Rotom forms, Cresselia, and other walls with status moves, since nothing more resists Gyarados attacks.
Gengar beats most of these counters without taking much damage back.
Note: Should I put the 90 EVs on Defense/Spc. Defense, or stick with HP?

scizor.png

Scizor
(M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
Evs: 248 HP/ 252 Attack/ 8 Speed
Nature: Adamant
Moveset:
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- U-turn
- Superpower

Discription:
I replaced Dugtrio with Scizor.(Thanks Franky for the sugestion). I already tested it and it was just what i needed! He can kill Rotom with Pursuit (I need to be carefull with the H form and the Will-O-Whisp move), he beats Tyranitar with Bullet Punch or Superpower, and Bullet Punch (or Pursuit) beats Gengar! So my Gyarados sweep will be easier from now on. Scizor works as my new revenge killer and helps me beat the weekneeses of my team.

I need help here:

vaporeon.png

Vaporeon(M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
Evs: 252 HP/252 Defence/4 Spc. Attack
Nature: Bold
Moveset:
- Surf
- Hidden Power Electric
- Protect
- Wish

Discription:
Vaporeon, the best wish supporter ever! He takes both Physical and Special hits pretty well, but his main roll on the team is counter Infernape and Gyarados, giving wish support at the same time. I tested it and I kinda like it but, I don't know if this is exactly what I need.
I replaced Cresselia with Vaporeon (Thanks Franky for the sugestion), but Cresselia could do a thing that I liked: Absorb Status moves by using rest. But as Franky said, I already had many Fighting resistences. So i would like you to sugest a pokemon that would absorve the status moves throw at my team, and counter Infernape and Gyarados at the same time.

magnezone.png

Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
Evs: 4 HP/252 Speed/252 Spc. Attack
Nature: Naive
Moveset:
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden power Fire
- Flash Cannon?
- Explosion

Discription:
Magnezone is my "Scizor/weakneed steels-killer". With Choice Scarf it can outspeed and beat Scizor with Hidden Power Fire without taking damage back and, because of Magnet Pull he can't switch. =D
Magnezone is also used to beat other steel types, but only weakneed ones, since most steel got an earth/fight attack.
Do you think I should replace Flash cannon? I just NEVER use it...

And that's my team.

HAPPY RATING!

Problems:

DD Tyranitar
Gengar

How to fix:

Looking at the team right now, looks exposed to DD Tyranitar without any checks. Gengar also stood out because Cresselia can't do nothing in return. The only thing I would really suggest is a CB Scizor for Dugtrio. This tier has plenty of flying-types and levitators, and Dugtrio is just too poor for this tier now. Scizor would be a more reliable check to Tyranitar and Gengar.

Scizor
@ Choice Band
Adamant Nature (Atk+ / SpA-)
246 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spe

- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower

A good replacement for Dugtrio where Bullet Punch prevents Gengar and Tyranitar from sweeping. U-turn is a great scouting move which helps this team cycle for the opponents foes and rack up SR damage. Pursuit traps Rotom, which generally helps Gyarados sweep. Superpower hits Blissey hard and KOs it while Bullet Punch will sometimes fail to KO it.

Now that I've suggested this, I'm pretty sure Infernape and Gyarados will cause this team trouble so I will suggest Vaporeon for Cresselia. You already have enough resist to Fighting-type (Gengar / Gyarados) and Vaporeon can still take hits like a champ from the physical side. Vaporeon with a custom EV of 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SpA, allowing you to take SD Infernape better and beat DD Tyranitar and gyarados much better. 68 Spe isnt really a concern right now because those EVs are allocated to outpace Skarmory mainly, which most of team is capable of beating. Your movesets for Vaporeon would be: Wish / Protect / Surf / HP Electric. Everything is self explanitory. Consider a Naive Gengar with Life Orb and the movesets Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt / Focus Blast / Explosion to provide some good stall breaking, overall gl with this team.

Im going to agree with Franky over the fact that this team could immensely improve with the addition of scizor. This patches up your teams current scarfgar weakness as well as DDtar and DDmence (when cress is killed from pursuit, etc.)

If you want your cress to have a shot at living against ttar/scizor I higly recommend you give it reflect. Also to further stop a DDgyra sweep I also reccomend replacing charge beam with t-wave so you give your team some speed insurance.

Just some suggestions. Good Luck!

I guess I'll replace Dugtrio with Scizor.
I'll consider the replacement of Cresselia, but I don't really know if I'm going to do that. If I do I'll , possibly, replace if for a pokemon that can absorve status moves, but i'll give it a try.
Hmm, I like my Gengar right now so I don't think I'll do any changes, but if I do I might consider Explosion over Energy Ball.

As I said to Franky I'll replace Dugtrio with Scizor.
Hmm, your sugestion about Cresselia moveset could work, but as Franky said I already have too Fighting resistences and I'll consider her replacement. But I liked your sugestion.
Thank you all, I'll edit this page as soon as I make the changes.

Cool team.

However you don't seem very up to date. Most Metagross leads run HP EVs which means you won't OHKO. Next, Infernape often has Fake Out, meaning it'll break your Focus Sash and proceed to kill you with Fire Blast. Still, Mamoswine makes a solid lead and good Pokemon to set up Stealth Rock.

Next, Gengar does not get perfect type coverage. It is resisted by Magnezone. By replacing Energy Ball with Focus Blast you automatically get perfect type coverage with Shadow Ball, and the bolt beam combo is extra. Focus Blast is also great for Tyranitar.

On Gyarados, I would recommend Stone Edge over Ice Fang for Zapdos. If you still want to hurt Celebi, then I'd use Bounce over Earthquake. Earthquake is mainly for Magnezone (Jolteon should be killed by Waterfall since you have a Life Orb) and since you have your own Magnezone it shouldn't be a big problem. Bounce can also OHKO Latias and Starmie thanks to Life Orb.

I see this team having an issue with Dragon Dance Babiri Berry Tyranitar as someone already pointed out. If you give Gengar a Choice Scarf it can revenge kill a +1 or even +2 Tyranitar with Focus Blast, 70% of the time. Between this, Bullet Punch, and Vaporeon you should overcome it. Still, you are most likely going to have to scrap a Pokemon to beat it.

The biggest deadweight I see on this team is Magnezone. Sure, it kills Scizor but do you really have a problem with Scizor? If it Pursuits Gengar, you'd be better off setting up a Gyarados sweep than going to Magnezone to trap it. For this reason, I suggest testing Swords Dance Lucario in its place. Lucario doesn't bring any additional weaknesses to your team, while finding many places to set up, such as when/if Gengar is Pursuited. An Adamant Lucario with Crunch and Extreme Speed should suffice.

Lucario is deadly after a Gyarados sweep, as Gyarados likely weakened Hippowdon/Zapdos, and Celebi pretty badly if not killed them. If gyarados has Bounce then it surely killed Celebi, and if it has Stone Edge, then surely Zapdos. Scizor's U-turn can often damage a Pokemon enough for Lucario to OHKO it, such as Suicune and Swampert. Mamoswine would have also helped by Endeavoring Swampert and Bronzong, while Ice Shard checks Salamence.

Vaporeon is your WishPasser I see. Vaporeon is good on many teams, but I wouldn't reccomend it for this one. Choice Scarf Rotom-H gives you some real problems, your only way to kill it is to Pursuit it with Scizor after it already killed something. It can revenge kill all your Pokemon pretty easily. Timid Rotom-H is also a huge problem, and worse, becoming more popular by the second.

If you do change Gengar to ScarfGar, then you won't have huge problems with Gyarados. To this end, I suggest a RestTalker since you said you wanted something to take status. Now we need a RestTalker who doesn't fear Rotom-A, and doesn't bring any unwanted weaknesses to your team. Snorlax could work decently, but I'm not sure how you'd fare with that additional fighting weakness. If you should choose Snorlax, then one with Body Slam / Crunch / Rest / Sleep Talk will work fair enough, although Rotom with Trick will be a problem as always. Swampert is another Pokemon who counters Rotom-H pretty easily. Swampert can also use Curse.

These are just ideas I'm throwing out there. If I would was in your position, I'd use RestTalk Machamp. Machamp counters Rotom-A pretty well with max HP, and can rest off the damage. Machamp can use Payback to 2HKO Rotom-A aswell. The other reason to use Machamp is to counter DDTar, whom your team has trouble with as already mentioned. Machamp often lures in Rotom-A too for some reason, and will often kill it with Payback, making a hole for Gyarados to sweep. Here's the Machamp:

Machamp @ Leftovers
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Nature: Admant
~ DynamicPunch
~ Payback
~ Rest
~ Sleep Talk

Hope I helped, and good luck!

gyarados should be adamant. after one dragon dance, u are faster than anyone so no need to be jolly. no dragon d, too slow. scizor need 252 spe so it can outrun defensive pokes
