I was reading earlier about the whole ghost/normal combo, and it got me thinking, what if a normal Pokemon evolved into a ghost Pokemon? in other words it evolved through death, this would defiantly be a "darker" side of Pokemon we haven't seen before (which by the way I'm really hoping the next Pokemon game will be "darker", what with the 1st 5th gen Pokemon introduced being dark type)

Also, whats stopping game freak from making a ability that switched a pokemon's type? (keleon)
Like when a Pokemon was hit by a normal of fighting type, it would turn into a ghost type, and when hit by a ghost, it would turn back into a normal, it would work well with the whole "between the world of the living and dead" idea.

So while browsing through random articles on Wikipedia, I came across something rather interesting. Apparently, there's mention of "three headed Weezings" in the Pokemon lore, although it has so far not appeared in the anime or the games or anything. So there might be the possibility of a Weezing evolution and, possibly by extension, an Arbok evolution!

Also I would love to see more (or any) side quests in the 5th gen, with pokemon or held items as rewards, I even have a good example:

You come across a new village and notice many of the villagers are hiding inside there homes at night, you talk to a man (quest giver, im not sure how gamefreak would go about showing a quest giver, maybe the same way World of warcraft does?)
He says that theirs a Wolf like pokemon (Zoraork) that comes out at night that has been attacking all the villagers, he then offers you a reward to track the pokemon into the forbidden forest and defeat it once and for all.

These quests would of course be optional and spread across the pokemon game, maybe sometimes effecting the main "defeat gym, elite 4" story line.

The idea of quests, or even side quests in pokemon would be a AWESOME idea, and would be a good change or add on, from the liner arc that all the previous pokemon games have given us so far.

It's either crazy enough to work, or will fail miserably. I believe in it. I like the idea and the concept of it.

Pokemon I think SCREAM "Gimme and evolution":
1. Pachirisu: We NEED to give the squirrel some love!
2. Jynx: It has gone 3 generations with those boobs. They need to grow or change color by now.
3. Sabeleye: Better stats, anybody?
4. Torkcoal: A useless pokemon getting better? This reminds me of snesil before weavile.

The side quests would be great. They could do restricted places where you can only enter by obtaining an item from a sidequest, maybe even legendaries appear at that places. For example you get the yellow orb as a reward, then you can enter thunder island and put the yellow orb on some altar and then zapdos appears! like the second movie =)

Thats a good idea, but they need to make sure not to over complicate it, to many quest chains will get complicated

Actually there's been a lot of speculation that the 5th gen is going to be darker. In the 4th gen, we were introduced with Lucario, a Fighting/Steel type Pokemon that's supposed to be a hero that represents 'good'. The Fighting type is also the 'light' type in Japan.

Gen. 5 is starting off with Lucario's counterpart (sort of), but its a Dark type, and its portrayed as a villain. Dark is obviously evil. If we get a counterpart to Arceus that would be even better. ^^;

I really don't think zoroark is a counterpart to lucario, just because lucario is "good" and zoroark is a dark type and a villain in the next movie, maybe there will be another appearances of "good" zoroarks in the anime later.

Im curious what they mean by a "darker" game, do they mean a more mature storyline?
or a darker side to pokemon all together?

I think just darker side. Its still directed at kids so the storyline will probably stay the same. :P It should have more twists and not be so obvious though...

By the way, am I the only one constantly checking Serebii and Bulbepidia for new 5th gen pokemon info?

Nope I'm checking too. ^^;

I wager that they're thinking they've gone overkill with Fire/Fighting starters, considering it's literally half of them. I'm hoping for some odd type combos. We got our first Grass/Ground and Water/Steel last time. I'm hoping for some weird combos that are viable in OU. Grass/Steel? Water/something? Even Fire/Ice? Something we haven't seen before. Most of that's hoping on my part, but I expect they at least will venture away from Fire/Fighting this time. I also think that Dragon will never find its way onto a starter, or else they would have made Sceptile (or Charizard...) the first for that.

Fire ice seems a little strange, but we'll have to wait and see, but heres some type combos id like too see:

Dark/ fighting
Fire/ Bug
Ghost/ fighting
Flying/ fighting
Steel/ Ghost
Dragon/ Steel

(Dialga's a Dragon/Steel.)

Honestly, the only thing that I really hope for is that we will be able to fix the problem of too much variety in the 5th gen metagame.

.

Interestingly, the games have featured Pokemon graveyards such as Lavender Town.
And Shedinja is essentially the dried out dead husk of a Nincada after its final transformation to Ninjask.

I'd also like to see improved battle animation in the 5th gen, (platinium gave us animation of the back of pokemon), Maybe when a pokemon gets hit by a attack, instead of the sprite just flickering, it will have a 2 or 3 frame animation of the sprite "flinching" from the attack, maybe even have a small animation showing the pokemon fainting ( instead of the lame "drop down" animation we've had since 1st gen)
Of course they would have to make it so it doesn't slow down battle time too much, and im not talking about full 3D in battles, i think it might be to much for the DS to handle, and if they did try full 3D they would have to remove alot of content, Im just talking about making the whole battle experience look more realistic.

The Fighting type is also the 'light' type in Japan.

That's the equivalent of saying that shounen manga must always be bad.

There's no "light" anything in Japan, nor "dark" anything. Dark in Japan is referred to as "Evil" (As in scheming and dirty tactics), and Fighting and Psychic are Fighting and Esper, respectively.

Still really want to know where all these rumors keep emerging from.

I always liked Tropius' design but never found it good enough at anything to be worth using.
If it would evolve into a Grass/Dragon with decent offensive stats that would be nice.

While Grass is generally poor offensively, it pairs well with Dragon and hits some key targets such as physically bulky grounds.
Also, Bulky waters are often able to goad Dragons into using their powerful drawback-possessing Dragon attacks before they're ready.
A Tropius evolution would easily be able to disptach the likes of Swampert and Vaporeon with STAB Leaf Blade.

A way to tackle Steels would be needed and while Earthquake is already available a Fire attack would be so much better.
Unfortunately, HP Fire (or maybe Weather Ball) will be the best the average Grass Type can hope for even if it is part Dragon.
But if it keeps its current abilities, there would be motivation for providing Sun support which would help out the Fire move.
I guess we're talking about Kingdra's equivalent for Sunny Day teams though with a less perfect typing (1/4 water/electric/grass and 1/2 ground but 4x ice).

It's interesting that in HGSS GF gave Tropius Dragon Dance but it is impossible for it to learn DD and its best physical Grass Attack.
Hopefully this will be corrected in Generation V along with an evolution to improve Tropius' really poor offensive stats.
