They don't fuse, Shelder and Slowpoke evolve separately. Shelder becomes the parasite attached to Slowbro's tail. They aren't one Pokemon, but a Slowbro with a Shelder clinging to it's tail, eating Slowbro's food scraps. If you look, the only reason it's still even there is because it's got a grip on Slowbro with his teeth.
There is also the problem of how to get a fusion. If you breed a Pikachu with a Smeargle to get a fusion, what would happen if you were just trying to get a regular Pikachu w/ Wish? It would be harder to get the right/normal Pokemon because fusions would get in the way.

Perhaps not. To us, evolve can mean several things. But in Japan, the word meaning evolve might have one meaning.

I hope the new games are really good. It would be a pity if they toally redid the games in such a way that you would not be able to transfer pokemon from gen 4 to gen 5. Not sure how much I like the new graphics. If they mess around with it too much a lot of people may leave the game. Or the opposite could happen and more people may get involved in the game.

There is nothing wrong with the names besides if it's not in your tastes so the names aren't racist. If they are, then Red and Yellow would be racist but you don't see the Native Americans or the Asians complaining.

I agree with this. Personally, I would rather the developers put more thought into game content than into the name anyway. Given, they have run through many names, some good (Platinum) and some rather lackluster (Yellow). Loved the game, but hated the name. That should not, however, stop you from enjoying it.
Hope they add a evolution to some pokemons that really need one, like Raichu, Rapidash, things like that.... a third evolution of Raichu would make the most popular pokemon usable in OU maybe it could change to a Steel/Electric or Dark/Electric.. something like that so it become more usable... just a tought btw..
Why do people want a Raichu evo? It would be unprecedented, creating a 4 stage evolutionary line.

One thing I do think might happen - method to evolve Phione into Manaphy. I've long held that Manaphy is an evolution of Phione, but there is no means to do the evolution in the games to date. (Since considering that to be the case makes the breeding behaviour normal.)

Phione won't evolve into Manafi because Manafi is a legendary pkmn and Nintendo doesn't evolve legends.

Perhaps they added the option of turning it off or having your "partner" not be the first to go into battle? If I have to wait for the third game to have Pokemon following me again, then I'll be pretty disapponted.

I don't really know how to feel about the whole 3D aspect of this. For one I'm excited to see how it turns out but I am also afraid that I'll be let down, at least graphically. I would rather have well done 2D battles than lackluster 3D ones. However, If there is a company that could nail it and push the DS hardware it would be GameFreak. I trust them, so I'm not too worried. Perhaps I'm just to familiar with the normal style of battles after 10 years. And also, I honestly can't see GameFreak doing anything that would ruin the game for hardcore fans. I wouldn't worry about it.
