World Cup: South Africa 2010 - Paul and Spain win!

England should be very happy they didnt lose to the US, US did get good chances :P

Altidore missed a golden chance, but after that chance.. England just took control of the game and had many more opportunties, but just didn't captalize. Good shit by US tho for keepin Rooney in check.

Looks like both of our avatars remain intact. Hopefully there will be a rematch for the U.S. to beat the piss out of the England team.

i really couldn't leave shade's avatar intact

How many gifs do you think will be made of Green crawling after the ball?

I already made one. Funniest thing I've seen all day, and I don't even like soccer / football / association football / what have you. He basically holds the ball then somehow fumbles and drops it. That's pretty bad, right? The fact he drops it backwards into the goal is just priceless. Can't stop laughing.

ETA: Oh, the feeble roll / slither towards it as it rolls into the goal and carries with it the collective energy of an entire nation facepalming is pretty good too.

The ball or grass didn't have much to do with it, it was mainly Green's fault but it was just a freak accident; any other day he would've saved it.

Obviously that doesnt happen to every goalkeeper, I agree that he made one mistake by not using the correct technique to catch a ball, but the fact that the ball bounces as much as a basketball ball didnt help his case at all. His bad move was big part of the problem but the ball certainly was a factor on that mistake...

Oh and I was forgetting, the grass is insanely hard which coupled with the basketball ball they are playing this cup with makes a big influence too. I dont see how you can say those 2 werent a factor when its certainly confirmed by players that they are basically playing on a street.

Heh, didn't woke up for Greece game, but it seems South Korea was the better team, i'm glad because it is one of the consistent teams in World cups (have been in them for quite a while now).

Argentina played the first 15 minutes at a very scary level, i felt that they were going to win by a larger difference then, of course Nigeria's GK was great and he saved a lot of chances. Argentina deserved to win, but Nigeria had some chances to score in the second half.

Finally, the USA is a team that has a brave attitude, i like that. England was better until Green had that accident, which i don't really know if the grass can be taken in as a factor, it was just a mistake and that's about it. Second half USA balanced things.

For tomorrow! I hope Australia does great against Germany, same with Serbia!

C'mon Green you absoloute Winner.

What's that Seamen, Robinson, Carson and Green have all fucked up in high profile matches. David James must be shitting himself when it happens to him?

Whooo USA.

I feel as if the media is overdoing how much of an achievement this is for the US, though. We basically only tied because a goal keeper isn't making use of his gloves.

Green is going to be killed by the tabloids and newspapers tomorrow. The Sun etc are going to make one big festival out of one 'little' human mistake. I hope he will be mentally strong enough to handle not only the upcoming pressure, since I think that Capello has enough faith in the guy to keep him in the goal, but also the killing words of the tabloids.

I hope Capello has the balls to say that Green is their goalkeeper and will stay their goalkeeper. You could see that Green was terrified of pressure. Even before the game started, you could see he was shaking of pressure, while Gerrard was relaxing and stretching like it was the most normal thing in the world.

Hopefully he'll never be put in a position to make that mistake again. England sucked for the most part today and we still would have won if not for this atrocity.

i hate british pessimism sometimes. sure green made a mistake, but hey everybody makes them and we pretty much dominated the majority of that match. still, cant take anything away from you yanks since they did play pretty well

edit: above post is a perfect example, lol. we played well, cheer up.

All I gotta say is that that was good by USA compared to how I thought they were going to play. I was pretty sure we were going to try and check Rooney hard and leave these ridiculous holes in our defense, but we managed to check him and play solid defense at the same time. Hopefully this'll be a good wake up call for us and make us play 10x harder in all of our matches and make it to the finals (like that's gonna happen lol).

Also let's all cut Green some slack, lol. One mistake in the Group Stage doesn't mean the end of the world, and england fans can easily say you're better than us because you played excellently. At least he didn't screw up in the finals, right? How awful would it have been if he did that and you lost the World Cup because of it? :P (I wish you guys could see my English supporting friends at my house when the goal happened; funniest thing I ever saw. They might've cried)

it's true, I want england to be eliminated even in the group stages (although that's not gonna happen) but it was green's fault they tied. could've gone smoothly but they postponed their chances to qualify thanks to it.

Hopefully he'll never be put in a position to make that mistake again. England sucked for the most part today and we still would have won if not for this atrocity.

a dribbler from 23 yards out.. you don't want him to have to be put into THAT type of situation again?

Funny about a tie though.. it gives one of the other 2 teams a good chance to make it out of the group.
