Koromori becomes even worse when you realize it's the new Zubat, and 99% of the time you're facing a pokemon, it will be that motherfucker right there.

I hate him so much already.

e: That is actually an insult to Zubat. Zubat owns.

Anyone else think that the Eagle's head feathers looks like a Native American's headdress? Could be based on a tribal Chief, hence the "War" in its name...

Yes, because we totally know its base stats, movepool, and what Encourage does. If Wishy is right, then he will be automatically more powerful. He looks like he'll have more attack, too, but we'll have to see.

Btw, I don't think Encourage blocks effects that affect the user, but only the target. IE, Ominous Wind will still have the chance to raise all stats, and Brave Bird will still induce recoil, but things like Lava Plume won't burn the target.

Yeah recoil will still hit.

What? Faster, weaker and frailer? We know absolutely nothing about Wargle other than that he gets a really cool new move and potentially kickass ability. Unusable my ass.
Because there has been no other speculation in this thread... Still, the normal/flying type has been done in every game, and I think once the cool appearance effect wears off and people start thinking about what actually looks fun to play with, Wooguru will sink to the bottom.

I can hardly see this thing being slow, or bulky based on its slim body and typing. I also dont see it getting close combat since only one other Flying/Normal poke does. Finally it seems strange that this thing would be an evolved pokemon, and pokes with that kind of look generally dont appear until later in the game. I dont want to catch and use a 1 stage normal flying pokemon at that point in the game.

War-eagle = Fighting/Flying. I was really hoping. Doesn't it make sense though?
I'm starting to get tired of Flying/Normal, but who knows? This guy might make it to OU

The way I see it the negating secondary effects part is a trade-off for the attacking boost. So, it makes sense if it negates the effects beneficial to the user.

I'm pretty sure it won't negate recoil. Can you picture Double-Edge boosted and with it's recoil nullified?

I think it will for example, nullify the Burn chance when using Fire Blast, but the drops from using CC will be maintained. Using Crunch can't drop the opponent's Def either

Wingull was a regional bird along with Taillow, but it was more used in waters to "dilute" the omnipresence of Tentacool. Koromori will probably do the same this time; 40% of the pokémon in caves will be Zubat, 40% will be Koromori, 10% will be Geodude and 10% will be some random thing.

Who says it's the new Zubat? I bet we see this thing in fields, and Zubat in caves. Then we will have annoying Pokemon everywhere we go. =/

Oh my, yes, comrade. Dirty consumer swine Wooguru will never benefit the glorious peoples' republic!

e: Commie

Yeah unfortunately it will most likely end up like Hustle, boosts attack at the expense of something beneficial (In Hustle's case, accuracy). Still a solid ability. But I can dream can't it? :P

It could boost air slash at the cost of flinch. With STAB it could have decent power and he wouldn't really miss flinch. It might boost all moves, but that would be a little overpowered. Who knows though.

Hopefully wargle will be on Staraptor's level (without the cheesy head hatchet).

Koromori is one of the ugliest things ever. Some of the designs this gen are almost sickening in their silliness.

That valor Pokemon looks cool, if what Wishy said about Encourage negating recoil moves is true, it'd be awesome if it got Brave Bird/Double-Edge.

Also, what's that thing coming out of the dream eater's evo's head?

Why does everyone assume that since it's normal/flying it's going to suck or even be on the same level as Staraptor and friends? Seriously, it might be normal/flying but this thing looks alot more akin to Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno then it does Pidgeot etc.

And Idunno, it seems weird to me that they give a fire type, who would likely have access to flare blitz, and a flying/normal type, who would likely have access to brave bird and double edge, encourage if they're not going to utilize it...

@SMZ: That would be the dream smoke that everyone's talkin about.

Better question is what is the pokemon that wareagle is battling in the only screenshot of him we have so far? *it's probably something really obvious and I'll be like damn why did I have to ask*

@Scicky - ah yeah, that could be it, they look kinda too square if you ask me, but the colours do match

Why are you all hating on the new bat type thing? It's better than seeing Zubat everywhere so it'll provide diversity, at least :O

Wargle should be on Staraptor's level. Do you think Wargle is a basic or is it evolved already?

.

A boosted STAB brave bird/flare blitz will only happen if their stats suck.

good news and bad news.

bad news: he is flying/normal huh? that is sad, i wanted a unique typing for him...

good news: he does look pretty fucking epic i give you that.

i need to see his movepool and stats to make sure he is not just a cool pokemon, that thing stucked in NU would be very sad.

edit:just noticed HE IS A AMERICAN BIRD!
