I sure hope Isshu isn't based off the United States of America because it is pretty boring. There aren't even many indigenous populations anymore, the majority of the "animals" are imported, domestic livestock species like horse, cow, chicken, and pig. Of course, we already have a deer Pokemon (Stantler) and now this eagle, but really the only other interesting possibilities are moose and black bear. The landscape itself is pretty dreadful; big cities in the epi-centers with suburbs surrounding them and then farm land. Not much land to explore.

Oh yeah, Japan is so well known for the diversitty of its animal species. Maybe their sea creatures, but North-east United States provides many ports as well as animals accustomed to the easy life of urban areas, not to mention zoos filled with exotic animals, something America is well-known for.

It may not be as exciting as a game set in, I don't know, Australia or something, but it won't be as bad as you're making it out to be.

e: I think a game set in the south-east United States would be ballin'. There would be coyotes and raccoons and oppossum and pole cat.. And there would be some awesome Japanese interpretations of Hillbillies.

Well don't forget that they don't have to be based on solely real animals. They could also be based off any legends famous in whatever area

Wasn't it semi-confirmed that Isshu is based on a part of China? Like Hiun City is Shanghai, and I remember reading a post somewhere about how the areas revealed on the map matched up with that region of China.

America has a lot of biodiversity. You probably just didn't know it. I live in the boomies; I'd know. Additionally, someone who said that it was a southern coast? Hoenn is turned 90°. I don't think that has any real bearing on anything. Also, what if Black City were in Jersey? I'd love that.

Another thing is there aren't many deserts in the United States... and the way the desert is situated between two rivers with fertile land on all sides? I think this region may be completely fictional... There is one set of dunes in Japan, but its not situated between two rivers.

hhhmmmm, a forest and and city are the version exclusive areas. So black version has more rural pokemon (voltorb, grimer, meowth, etc.) while white has more grass and bug types? It will probably be plot important, mayby even the area's you encounter the legendary, but idk.

Oh good lord that would be hilarious. I wonder if they would be wise to the general American consensus of Jersey and present it that way? That would be just sublime.

Also, yeah, American is plenty diverse, being the fourth largest country in the world, with most of that land area being horizontal.

No, nothing about where Isshu is based on has actually been revealed yet. New York City and Shanghai are the two most popular theories right now, but they're only guesses--no confirmation or actual information on what Isshu's based on has appeared yet.

And yeah, people have made posts about that for Shanghai, but they're just as easily doable for NYC, so nothing's concrete yet:

This is what I'm sayin, this gens totaly original, and hopefully they will add to the plot with mini games better than contests.

I'm not comparing the United States to Japan, so I'm not really sure where you're going with that. Zoos are certainly not proper Pokemon material, I mean what would you do throw a Pokeball into one of the cages? It doesn't even seem like America to me in the first place, anyways, and I've never truly believed Pokemon games are based off exact regions (it is more of a combination of landscapes).

A new feature called "Passing By" will allow your DS to connect automatically with other players that are nearby. As you advance in Black and White, you will be able to help others on their journey.

I wonder what the extent of this is, can you play co-op throughout the entire game, or just certain sections?

I gotta say.....I'm sort of disappointed in the lack of general knowledge about things like different species of animals and general geographic knowledge in this thread.

About the eagle.....there are many different species of eagles. This one looks very little like the American Eagle or the Golden Eagle, the two most common Eagle species in North America.

IMO, it looks more like a Harpy Eagle, a South American species, but I guess it could also be an American Eagle with a Native American design.

Also, does anyone else think that Munna/Musharna will evolve into Ganesh or some other creature/god from Hindu folklore. It has the naming style and to a degree the design and coloration similar to art from that source.

The harpy eagle, which is the national bird of Panama, a country which also happens to have a Red, White, and Blue flag.

So it sounds like triple battles will be similar to Battrio
Also is anyone else afraid of the possibilities of the video chat? It's like pokemon meets chat roulette :\

Fortunately, friend codes means that you'll know who's junk is suddenly greeting you a la chat roulette.

Yeah, I have a feeling this region could be based on the Americas. Most of the animals that the revealed monsters are based on have wide distributions and can be found outside of the Americas but I still get a strong feeling that this gen will be based on the Americas.

Every reigion so far has been based off Japan, I don't see why this would change.
