OU RMT (Just another try)- The Almighty BATON PASS

Hi guys, this is not my first team; I've made many and they turned into nothing but an epic fail. I've decided to try it once more, and this is the result. I'm hoping for a perfect Baton-Pass team, I'll need your help for it.

Team Overview:

Gliscor.png
Flygon
Starmie.gif
Scizor.png
Metagross.png

Team In-Depth:

Heatran.gif

Heatran (M) @ Quick Claw
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SpD)
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power

The Lead - He has done very well in OHKOing other leads such as Azelf with Eruption. Opposing Heatran is a still a problem. Explosion is used on Sweepers which are planning to set-up on Heatran, or Heatran can switch-in on them.

Threats: Infernape, Heatran

Changes: None at the moment

Gliscor.png

Gliscor (M) @ Yache Berry
Trait: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 HP / 192 SDef / 64 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Agility
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- Taunt

B-Passer: In my opinion, the B-Passer with the best defences. Yache Berry allows him to take a hit from +2 Ice types attacks from most Pokemon. Agility will be used first, then B-Pass or Swords Dance depending whether Gliscor will be KOed.

Threats: Gyarados, Suicune, Starmie.

Changes: None at the moment.

Flygon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4SpD / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-Turn
- Outrage

Speed kills...other pokes. Earthquake and Outrage for STAB. Outrage OHKOs Kingdra. Jolly + 252 Spe outspeeds Starmie. will update more

Threats:

Changes: None at the moment.

Starmie.gif

Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Rapid Spin

This guy just fills space. Used him because of his high Sp.Atk nd Speed. Most dragons are OHKOed by Ice Beam. Thunder Bolt on annoying Gyarados. Replaced Recover with Rapid Spin.

Threats: Tyranitar (Surf doesn't OHKO)

Changes: Planning to change it to a Wide Lens set with Hydro Pump, Thunder and Blizzard.

Scizor.png

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Roost

Here to take out annoying pokemon with 6 HP left. Gliscor can Baton Pass to Scizor or Metagross, so he can work as a sweeper. Working as an alternate sweeper. Incase Metagross gets KOed, he comes to help. LifeOrbSDScizor.

Threats: Heatran

Changes: None at the moment.

Metagross.png

Metagross @ Lum Berry
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Meteor Mash
- Ice Punch
- ThunderPunch

Sweeper - Immune to T-Spikes, heavy defenses. A +2 Ice Punch OHKOs most dragons. +2 Thunder Punch OHKOs Gyarados. Tyranitar is a bit of a problem, with Earthquake. Most speedy fire types are a problem if Metagross is not Baton Passed.

Threats: Infernape

Changes: None at the moment.

So this is it. The descriptions might not be enough, but I'm a newbie in team building. I've added a PO Importable for those of you who can take the time to test it out.

Hi Antarid.

This is a very solid looking team that you have here. Firstly I highly recommend changing the nature of Heatran from Quiet to Timid if you wish to hang on to your Shuca Berry. As well as this also replacing Eruption for Fire Blast is majorly beneficial. This will allow you to hit faster opponents harder and maintain a good STAB for the entirety of the battle. However if you would rather have a Heatran with a Quiet nature that is able to hit hard, you should opt to change its item from Shuca Berry to a Life Orb, allowing to hit much harder. If you chose this option, you should remove Earth Power as you will rarely find a use for hiting opposing Heatran as you are slower and instead having either Hidden Power Grass or Hidden Power Electric, depending on your preferance of eleminating either Gyarados or Swampert better. Hidden Power Electric would be more suited as eliminating Gyarados means Intimidate will not bother Scizor after it has been passed an Attack boost. On an overall scale your team handles threats very well. The only real struggle you would have would be preventing a late-game sweep. You pretty much have one counter/check for every sweeper, but once that foundation is gone, you are very weak. By playing is smart and conservative, you should be fine, however if you find the need to eliminate some late-game sweepers, I suggest replacing Rotom-W for something like Choice Scarf Staraptor:

401.png

Staraptor @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 200 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Frustration
- Close Combat
- U-Turn

Quite underused, but quite underestimated, Staraptor provides a lovely check to many late-game sweepers. It checks nearly all Physical Based sweepers and is also a lovely revenge-killer.

Hopefully this has been of assistance to you and I wish you good-luck in your future progress with this team.

Timid Heatran is not accepted by Pokemon Online, it says I need to change it to Quiet if I'm running Eruption. And as for the Staraptor, I'm making it an OU team. Thanks :D

If you remove Eruption it allows you to use a Timid nature. Also, you do realise that a Quiet nature makes you slower, which is not the reason one should be using Eruption, as its power is lowered as the HP is. An OU team only needs a single OU pokemon to have itself classified as OU. By having one non-OU pokemon does not mean the entire team is going to tremble and fall down on its knees.

Staraptor? A scarfed flying type with no Spin Support? Nah.

Okay first of all, Layers are going to fuck you pretty badly, so consider removing Recover on your Starmie for Rapid Spin. Hell, you can probably get away with putting it over Ice Beam, youll lose coverage on Dragonite, but Rapid Spin is that important. I think its better over Recover but if youre reluctant on that try it over Ice Beam. And lol I just noticed youre using Modest. Change that back to Timid, outspeeding Gengar is big.

Even with Gliscor your team was incredibly weak to Electric types. Shit like Rotom, Raikou, and Jolteon get in hit anything with a Tbolt and switched out with no problems to get back in later, considering your lack of Spikes. Thats just asking to be swept. Your team really does need some speed, so adding a Scarfed Pokemon does work, but consider using Flygon or Rotom instead of Staraptor. Theyre both proven quality scarfers in the metagame, specially Flygon thanks to U-Turn and SR resistance, and they both bring you an Electric resist. Id lean towards Flygon though, as it can get in and threaten those Electric types with an Outrage or an Earthquake, while Rotom has to rely on weak Shadow Ball.

Your Scizor set can easily be changed to a Choice Bander, the strong Bullet Punch is always nice to have. However, it seems like your set does pretty well there, so you can keep that. Only one thing, either remove Roost for Swords Dance, or remove Superpower/Bug Bite. Swords Dance Life Orb Scizor is a beast and will be sweeping more often than not if you play it correctly, but your current sets kinda just stands there taking hits and recovering with Roost, while not hitting hard enough back. If you want Scizor to take hits you can just change your set to a Defensive variant, but if you want to go Offensive then Swords Dance is the way to go.

Timid weakens Explosion on Heatran, so change that to Naive.

Change your Gliscor set to the Standard Stall Breaker, with Taunt, Toxic, Earthquake, and Roost. This gives you a decent way to take on Stall teams in tandem with Offensive Scizor, which would otherwise give you many problems. Also a solid Lucario counter, which your team lacks. Run enough Speed to hit 281~ and the rest in HP and Defense.

Without a Baton Passer you can now change your Metagross to either a better set or another Pokemon in order to just cover more threats and make the team work better as a whole. You got Heatran, Scizor, Gyarados, Rotom, Tyranitar, and Infernape covered pretty well. Gengar is something that may cause a lot of trouble if it gets and uses Substitute, as your Scizor has no way of stopping it from switching out. So either change your Metagross set to a Pursuit Special Defensive variant to deal with that better, or remove Metagross entirely for something like a Calm Mind Jirachi, or even a Gyarados of your own. They both take care of Gengar nicely, and theyre also nice to have in order to take down Machamp leads. They also help with Breloom, so just pick whichever you want. Do take that by picking Jirachi your team functions almost the same as with Gengar, but if you pick Gyarados that means you function even better against Infernape, Heatran, Scizor, and Flygon, so id take Gyarados into consideration first, specially since you have Rapid Spin support. A Bulky Dragon Dance set for Gyarados should do the trick. Enough Speed to beat Base 115s at Max Speed Timid with a Dragon Dance, and the rest in HP and Attack. You can also run Taunt over a coverage move in order to completely shut down Skarmory and Forretress, giving Stall an even harder time. Be careful about Rotom, however.

I'll try out Flygon, Staraptor has been getting screwed lately. And SD over Superpower too on Scizor too. The whole point of the team to support Baton Pass. Im not excited at the Stall Breaker Gliscor set, but I'll just give it a try. Thanks a lot!!

not too bad. its not all out bp and more of late game quick baton pass, which works OK.

for the lulz, i recommend testing with simple bibarel. the +2 you pass on is now +4.

Bibarel @ leftovers
Adamant 252 hp 252 attack 4 defense
~pluck
~quick attack
~waterfall
~return

its more of a set to make people mad and still win the match.
pluck is for shedinja :D
quick attack priority and the rest is obvious.
