Mediocre-Mons (VENOMOTH BANNED!)

On assumptions while battling.

For us to make predictions we need to know the opp's set right? Well when we don't know the set we just assume what set is it right? Well these are my assumption when I play and I have no time to scout or w/e. I made this for all S and A rank pokemons (And some B rank that I find common). But I didn't include some A ranks because I almost never see them on the ladder and don't know their sets..

HOW TO READ THE ASSUMPTIONS:
Assume this first> 1.
Another possible set> 2.
Assumer this after a certain move is used> 3.
S Rank:
1. Dual screens with Spikes and TWave 3.If Safeguard, then no screens + Foul Play
1. Modest LO (Sludge Bomb, Earth Power, Fire Blast, Stealth Rocks/Thunderbolt) 2. Same moves as 1. but with Timid LO OR Modest Lefties max HP.
A Rank:
1. Scarf Special with STABs + Focus Blast + Ice Shard 2.Mixed Scarf Blizzard + EQ + Giga Drain + Ice Shard OR Scarf Physical with STABs + Ice Shard and Brick Break
1. ALWAYS Gyro Ball + Stealth Rock + Leech Seed + TWave
1.WoW/Taunt + Acrobatics + Roost + Swords Dance 2. Flame Charge > WoW/Taunt
1. Brave Bird + Super Fang/Taunt + Roost + Toxic
1. ALWAYS, NO EXCEPTIONS: Scald + EQ + Toxic + Recover
1. if Facade = Guts if Return = Hustle ; Crunch/Sucker Punch + Quick Attack/U-Turn
1. ALWAYS WoW + Taunt + Recover + Knock Off
1. Quiver Dance + Sleep Powder/Giga Drain + Bug Buzz + Hurricane
<IMAGINE A XATU HERE 1. ALWAYS Psychic + Heat Wave + Giga Drain + Roost/Dazzling Gleam (some people run this just for Sableye)

B Rank:
1. Choice Band Aqua Jet + Waterfall + Crunch + Superpower 2. Same as 1. but with LO
1. Chatter + Boomburst + Nasty Plot + Roost/Tailwind (Yes, I've seen TW a whole fucktton) 2. Specs with Chatter + Boomburst + Night Shade + U-Turn
1. ALWAYS Sash + Swords Dance + Protect + Fire Punch + Low Kick
1. Waterfall + Brick Break + EQ + Bulk Up/Belly Drum (swag)

I don't know if this is very accurate, but it's my assumptions anyway, feel free to add yours and stuff.

well first thing i notice is that you dont have mixed abomasnow as its first set. Actually, you don't have the mixed version at all. My scarf aboma and what to me is one of the best ones is blizzard/giga drain/EQ/ice shard or maybe FB if my team needs it.

I've seen both versions of aboma, but never a mixed one, I'm adding it in as a second set, since I don't it is common at all.

I saw this tier on pokemon showdown and started checking it out. After reading through the forum, I came up with what I believe is a solid core pokemon wise, although it only contains 4 pokemon. It's kind of a more offensive version of the Parasect/Quagsire/Klefki combo. (I like being hyper offensive)

Klefki @ Damp Rock
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flash Cannon
- Spikes
Klefki can use prankster to easily set up rain dance, as well as spikes. Rain dance is extremely helpful to parasect and qwilfish. Dazzling gleam and flash cannon are great dual stab moves so klefki isn't complete taunt bait. I don't really need all those spa evs, but that was what showdown suggested, so I stuck with it.

Parasect @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- X-Scissor/Seed Bomb
- Spore
- Leech Seed
- Protect/X-Scissor/Seed Bomb
Parasect is tied for the highest attack stat in the tier, as well as having pretty good bulk. The hp evs are to maximize hp while minimizing stealth rock damage. Seed Bomb or X-Scissor for stab (not sure which, maybe both) Spore because why not, leech seed for more health, and either protect to get extra leech seed/leftovers/dry skin recovery, or the other STAB move for more coverage.

Qwilfish @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poison Jab
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet/Explosion
Qwilfish under rain is essentially a faster basculin. If I have the chance to, I can boost with swords dance and then wreck with my offensive moves. I thought about explosion, but I decided I wanted priority instead. Qwilfish is also tied for the highest base attack, and has very good speed as well.

Lunatone @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Charge Beam/Ancientpower
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Earth Power/Ancientpower
Assault vest lunatone is a special tank, and can deal out a lot of damage too. Charge beam is nice because it allows me to still run assault vest while also being able to boost my special attack. It kinda sucks not really having a special rock move (It gets ancient power, which is decent) but Psychic is a great STAB move in its own right, and why not run moonblast on a pokemon that is literally the moon. I'm not sure if I really need earth power, but if I don't, ancientpower could be swapped, although I think I'd rather have the other two moves I slashed.

The great part about this team is that they cover each other's weaknesses really well. Qwilfish is weak to electric, ground and psychic. Parasect quad resists ground and resists electric, lunatone is immune to ground and resists psychic, and klefki resists psychic.
I'm not going to list all the matchups, but I was looking for advice on the movesets on some of these pokemon, the evs on klefki, and what would make a good last 2 pokemon.

thats the one i use and the one i most commonly see. idk.
Idk too lol, maybe it's because i'm low on the ladder and stuff (1300 is not a lot)

On another matter, I wonder what people think of stall, I once asked someone in my battle from 1 to 10, how cancerous my stall team was and he said "Robert de Niro cancer high". I don't know what to think of that and I need you guys to say your opinion on stall. On MY opinion stall is fun to play with, and the hatemail is even better, but the battles, oh they take some prediction. Overall it's hard to play with stall but on the hands of a good predictor, it can and WILL beat yo hyper offensive ass.

My "Robert de Niro cancer high" team + a good replay.
SwagSkill (Klefki) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Safeguard
- Toxic
- Thunder Wave
- Foul Play

gibe pusc (Sableye) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 244 HP / 244 SpD / 20 Spe
Careful Nature
- Taunt
- Recover
- Will-O-Wisp
- Knock Off

Swagsire (Quagsire) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Recover
- Toxic

Flappy Burd (Xatu) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psychic
- Heat Wave
- Grass Knot
- Dazzling Gleam

pusc (Nidoqueen) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe

- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt

BALKBALKBALKBALKBALK (Golbat) @ Eviolite
Ability: Infiltrator

I wanna see if this becomes something:

Mawile @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
- Play Rough
- Fire Fang
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch

EDIT:

252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Slurpuff: 413-486 (134.9 - 158.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Fire Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Klefki: 153-182 (48.1 - 57.2%) -- 90.2% chance to 2HKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Poliwrath: 429-507 (111.7 - 132%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Xatu: 274-324 (82 - 97%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Checks towards Mawile would be Nidoqueen and Quagsire, since they both wall all of its attacks. Also Sableye since it can get off a burn on it.

252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 165-195 (41.8 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Nidoqueen: 204-242 (53.1 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (This sounds decent, but Nidoqueen can easily OHKO Mawile with earth power due to also outspeeding it.)

Banned deucer.
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Kingdra: 429-507 (146.9 - 173.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
(Counting that Mawile can survive a hit from Kindra)
The Kingdra calc isn't relevant because Kingdra is banned. The threats you want to calc are Nidoqueen, Klefki, Xatu, Slurpuff, Poliwrath, Quagsire, etc.

Nidoqueen would be more of a switch-in against you, because she might try to sponge Play Rough. You won't want to stay in on her, but it might be helpful to see what kind of damage Mawile can do. Quagsire fits in that vein, too, since it can take an Iron Head nicely. Maybe a Play Rough is worth calcing on it, though?

252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Quagsire: 165-195 (41.8 - 49.4%) <-- iirc no one runs 252/252+ in MM
252+ Atk Life Orb Sheer Force Mawile Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Nidoqueen: 204-242 (53.1 - 63%) Not bad

Volbeat also has Prankser ._.
If you use Prankster after he uses Tailglow it won't be able to Baton Pass the turn after that one.
EDIt: Yeah I can see your point, if you use a sash you can indeed get +3 on anything if your opp doesn't carry a check to Volbeat.

more like if it gets in on anything but sableye...i.e. if its smart.

I just feel like using Volbeat now, I'll quickly try it out now and get back with some results.

EDIT: Meh, once you BPass your next mon will be taking a hit, and won't be able to do much if it is not fast, if it is, it can get TWaved by something or get walled by Quag if it doesn't carry HP Grass.

Well eviolite lampent lasts enough to set up a trick room and it sweeps pretty well.
It's not really worth it using Eviolite, he's still super frail, use Sash for a guaranteed TR setup or LO if you're real. Don't forget Infiltrator to deal with stall that uses screen.

I just want to hear your guys' opinions on this.

Pignite @ Eviolite
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpA
Brave Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Superpower
- Flare Blitz
- Grass Knot

You may ask why use Pignite over Monferno or Combusken, who has better movesets, abilites, and speed? Well, Pignite is bulker with Eviolite, has better attack, and Sucker Punch. I believe it to work effectively as it hits high viability mons which are weak to its STAB moves, as well as other mons with Sucker Punch and Grass Knot as coverage. Flare Blitz and Superpower are each 120 power with some drawback, with recoil and lowering atk and def, but still hit hard with Pignite's high attack in the tier, Sucker Punch is always nice on a slow hard hitting mon like this beautiful hog, and Grass Knot hits bulky Water types like Quagsire

And calcs because calcs:
252+ Atk Pignite Flare Blitz vs. 128 HP / 0 Def Nidoqueen: 193-228 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Pignite Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Xatu: 229-270 (68.5 - 80.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
4 SpA Pignite Grass Knot (80 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Quagsire: 248-292 (62.9 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Pignite Flare Blitz vs. 160 HP / 4 Def Fletchinder: 137-162 (44.9 - 53.1%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Pignite Superpower vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Combusken: 172-204 (53 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Pignite Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Vullaby: 100-118 (29 - 34.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Pignite Superpower vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Solrock: 196-232 (69.5 - 82.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

And most importantly...
252+ Atk Pignite Flare Blitz vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Abomasnow: 868-1024 (226 - 266.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO *flex*

Oh right, this exists.
Since ORAS, Frogadier has gotten Gunk Shot and Low Kick. They actually don't affect it much since Clefable's banned, Ice Beam hits most Grass types and there are only two fairies on the viability rankings, one of which is immune to Poison (Mawile). Clefairy and Floette may be viable though (Floette in appreciates Synthesis from the move tutors btw), so Gunk Shot may have some use. Low Kick seems decentish, but special sets still look like the way to go with Froggy.

Chatot can now use Boomburst + Heat Wave, so that's bound to make it a bit better.

Slurpuff can sweep much more easily now with Drain Punch, since it gives physical sets some more recovery and hits Steels, but Quagsire is still a hard stop.

Malamar is also more viable with Knock Off, but Quagsire is a pain for it too.

We also get Contrary Servine now, but I'm not sure if it will make a significant impact since we have Fletchinder, Frogadier, Scarf/Ice Shard Abomasnow, Chatot, Xatu and Vivillon to get in its way of sweeping.

Has anyone had experience with Trick Room in this meta? It's my favorite playstyle and I like to see how it fares in various metagames.

All the TR setters look like they're NFE (except for Malamar). Still some good ones -- Bronzor, Spritzee, Porygon and Lampent might work, and there's enough type variety to prevent the usual Dark type weakness of TR teams. Of course, it's one thing to set the Trick Room...you also need slow Pokemon to take advantage of it. Parasect looks like a good fit -- a very "fast" Spore along with one of the highest attack stats in the tier. Abomosnow can go mixed, and also sets hail if that's your thing. Really, most Pokemon in this meta are slow enough to work in TR with the right spread -- any suggestions?
