This is shaping up to be a hella boring Week 17. Plenty of seeding stuff going on but the teams are all but locked, I think only Steelers > Jets (second WC) can still reasonably happen? And then the Colts can still technically win the AFC South if literally every game with an AFC team playing in it rolls the right way for them.

http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/p...ances-of-making-playoffs-only-about-3300-to-1

Meanwhile, the SNF primetime matchup looks good on paper but might end up being a battle of who can throw the game less obviously and lose the division so they get to play the Redskins (#4-#5) instead of the Seahawks (#3-#6) in the WC round.

I remember one year where I think KC was like the #10 seed going into the final weekend, and the stars aligned to let them into the playoffs.

actually the steelers got hosed even worse that year because they needed all that to happen AND the chargers to lose and KC decided to use their 2nd unit the last game and still wouldve won except they missed like a 30 yd FG.

On which a penalty was not called which would have moved the kick closer 5 yards and allowed a retry. Yes, I remember that year well. Oh well, can't go back and change anything!

After some time to cool off I have come to the conclusion that, although I believe Pittsburgh is a better team than the Jets, the Jets have been playing quite well down the stretch and are not totally undeserving of a 6th seed. Couple that with Pittsburgh's embarrassing choke against Baltimore, and however the playoff picture shakes out will, honestly, be deserved. Sucks though, I really wanted to get another crack at New England. Maybe next year when we're fully healthy!

I really don't think Pitt's out of it yet. Jets losing on the road to Rex and the Bills would hardly be a surprise IMO.

Edit: Lol Bungles, what a way to throw away a bye.

Sucks that Carolina couldn't go undefeated, but hopefully the team will learn from this. This might help us focus on the future games we'll have to play. Lock up the first seed next week and prepare for the playoffs, too much noise going on when we were undefeated lol. Humbling experiences are always good.

Mccaron got injured on that last play so they might have 2 use a 3rd string qb vs the ravens now
I think if they do then every AFC north team would have used a 3rd string QB at some point this season

Steelers: Ben / Vick / Landry Jones

Ravens: Flacco / Schaub / Clausen / Mallet

Browns: Manziel / McCown / Austin Davis / probably more, but I lose count when it's the Browns

Touch surprised, as ownership went all in on Kelly this year you'd think they'd give him another year or two to see if it pans out as he did deliver two 10 win seasons before this stinker, perhaps he needed another year to really get it clicking (assuming he didn't make anymore mind baffling trades like the one for Bradford). Now any incoming HC is inheriting a mess of a roster half tailored to 1 coach's particular style. Though in the putrid NFC East, it at least won't take much to be competitive and in playoff position.

Fraudulent 10-win seasons tbh, those teams could've gotten ten wins without a coach. Then he threw out all the actually good players and SURPRISE! The team fucking sucked! And then it sucked more because all his boneheaded moves and stubborn MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY attitude became locker room cancer.

Kelly would probably make a fantastic OC somewhere, too bad he's going to be too proud to take an OC position and some bottom feeder team will want him anyway.

His system requires his team to build around it. There's no way Kelly could work as an OC because it's not a plug and play system at all.

Also he'd be a terrible coach anywhere, because hey defensive coordinators are actually PRETTY SMART and can figure out how to stop your two running plays pretty easily given enough film and preparation time.

He needs to go back to college tbh, but all the big jobs are taken so some terrible FO will give him another chance that he'll probably blow too.

I have a question guys. Who would you rather start for your team, a former first rounder who imploded randomly and hasn't played since 2013, the worst quarterback to ever start in a playoff game, or an undrafted free agent who 99.9% of humanity has never heard of? Because that's the decision that the Colts have to make this week.

Also Chip Kelly was never going to last long in the NFL because he refused to ever change his system based on game flow, so coordinators figured out his offence.

As a colts fan I am disgusted this year. Get rid of pagano get a better offensive line to protect to Andrew Luck. Get rid of frank gore KEEP ahmad bradshaw. Get Shawn Payton to please heck maybe even chip kelly will help. Also fix that terrible defense to.
