[OVERVIEW]
  • Fairy-type STAB is swag
  • Also has the decent Psychic-type STAB
  • Good coverage
  • Good Special Attack
  • Good Special Defense
  • Passable Speed
  • Crappy Defense
  • Hard walled by Steel-types
  • Defensive sets are outclassed by Florges and Whimsicott

[SET]
name: Choice Specs
move 1: Moonblast
move 2: Psyshock
move 3: Focus Blast / Shadow Ball
move 4: Trick / Shadow Ball
item: Choice Specs
ability: Trace
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Moonblast is a great STAB move with pretty boppin' coverage
  • Psyshock is a good secondary STAB move that also hits Pokemon with high Special Defense
  • Shadow Ball hits stuff like Bronzong, Metagross, and Doublade on the switch
  • Focus Blast nails Cobalion, Empoleon, and Aggron
  • Calm Mind can be used if running Life Orb to break down stall
  • Trick can be used with Choice Specs to cripple a wall

Set Details
========

  • Choice Specs hits like a fucking trick and nothing wants to switch into it
  • Life Orb is a bit weaker and costs HP but is nice in that it allows Gardevoir to switch moves
  • If Timid beats/ties stuff like Mamoswine, Chandelure, and other base 80s
  • If Choice Specs, Modest guarantees 2HKO on Florges, Bronzong, and Blissey without SR and has a chance to OHKO Empoleon with Focus Blast after SR.
  • Trace is useful to copy the foe's ability and is awesome against stuff like choice-locked Chandelure and is absolute ca$h against Rain Dance Mega Swampert

Usage Tips
========

  • Bring it in on a resisted move, Choice-locked Pokemon, or something like Flash Fire Chandelure if its locked into Fire Blast
  • Click Moonblast or Psyshock (or appropriate coverage move)

Team Options
========

  • Volt Switch and U-turn is helpful for bringing it in safely. Magneton also traps Steel-types
  • Fast cleaners to finish the game when Gardevoir breaks down walls
  • Fire- and Ground-types to nail Steel-types

[SET]
name: Calm Mind
move 1: Calm Mind
move 2: Moonblast
move 3: Psyshock
move 4: Focus Blast / Substitute
item: Leftovers / Life Orb
ability: Trace
nature: Timid / Modest
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

  • EVs maximize Special Attack and Speed
  • Leftovers are recommended for the passive recovery, especially if running Substitute

specs should be first slash in first set.

edit: Offensive CM could probably just be listed in OO. If the meta actually turns it into something, then we can always revisit it.

edit r2: christo's post actually makes sense, so do what he says.

considering splitting the offensive set into offensive CM and Specs but i might need another opinion

e: wow kink that was fast

Calm Mind deserves its own set no doubt. I would probably say Leftovers should be the main item /'d with Life Orb. Also the 4th moveslot should probably be Focus Blast /'d with Substitute. I have tried Calm Mind and it is very effective.

Edit: Message me on showdown if u can, i already see some things that should be reworded

some considerations you should have before moving this out of WIP (discussed w/ dodmen by the way):

the first set should be renamed to Choice Specs. remove the Life Orb slash and make Timid the preferred nature (do that on every set actually). moves should look like this: Moonblast | Psyshock | Focus Blast / Shadow Ball | Trick / Shadow Ball. Shadow Ball is reliable and hits Bronzong / Metagross / Doublade harder than any other of Gardevoir's moves, which gives it a solid niche, but there's no way it should be the main option over Focus Blast, as that complements Gardevoir's STAB moves better overall (good luck hurting Mega Aggron / Steelix with Shadow Ball). Life Orb + 4 attacks (or just 3 attacks with Healing Wish / Memento) is worth an OO mention though, but the lack of Choice Specs / Calm Mind makes it much harder to break fat teams down, and that is probably this Pokemon's biggest niche in the tier.

CM looks okay. make CM the first move for obvious reasons. STABs after, Focus Blast / Sub last. items are fine the way they are and so is the EV spread (although I'm not 100% sure about that, cause there might be some funky spread w/ HP investment that works better)

I don't have much experience with Choice Scarf Gardevoir, so I'll just paste the log of my conversation with dodmen:
+dodmen: scarf the moves are bad for sure though
+dodmen: shadow ball doesn't belong on scarf
purrl: y
+dodmen: should be STABs and then 2 utility
purrl: ive never ran
purrl: scarf garde tho
+dodmen: with focus blast mentioned
+dodmen: i've run it acouple times
purrl: id mention
purrl: energy ball on that
purrl: it's one of the most reliable revenge killers
purrl: to rd pert
+dodmen: last 2 slots should be 2 of memento trick healing wish
+dodmen: eball can get a mention too yeah
+dodmen: honestly healing wish shoud be on there 100%
purrl: yh
+dodmen: with the last a tossup between trick and memento and then
+dodmen: eball / focus blast mentioned in moves

note: Energy Ball actually goes in OO because the point of it applies to Choice Specs Gardevoir as well.
Make sure to mention defensive options get outclassed by Florges / Whimsicott really hard due to inferior defensive stats and the inability to tank Hydreigon's Dark Pulse and this skeleton should look fine.

On Scarf maybe you can slash Memento next to Healing Wish because having a two slots dedicated to suicidal moves isn't really plausible to me as you will only to be able to use one every match.

on my phone so this will be brief and not too descriptive. It's more so the dedicated option of having two different moves in fallback positions. Memento is a worthy slash which is why it's an option vs trick, but healing wish should 100% be on the scarf set. Memento and HW are similar moves in that they set up a Pokemon to clean, sweep, or go for one last hurrah. The difference between these two options is in how they make this opportunity possible. based on how Gardevoir functions in the tier (with scarf being mostly on offensive teams), HW is definitely the more encompassing option. Tbh, I think HW + Trick is one of the best offensive utility options available.
