[Monotype/Fighting] Lucario

QC: all falls down / Lax / scpinion
GP: GatoDelFuego / P Squared

[OVERVIEW]

**Fighting:**
With a great offensive typing that provides Steel-type STAB, Lucario is one of Fighting's best offensive checks to Fairy-types. It has decent Attack and Special Attack stats and access to both Swords Dance and Nasty Plot, making its set quite unpredictable. Further, thanks again to its Steel typing, Lucario is able to take neutral damage from Flying-type moves. This combined with its Inner Focus ability allows Lucario to survive and avoid flinches from Togekiss's Air Slash, making it a great check to Choice Scarf Togekiss. Lucario is also blessed with Extreme Speed, which has +2 priority, allowing Lucario to beat most priority users. Lucario is also one of the few special attackers on Fighting and can serve as a check to common problems such as Doublade and Jellicent. Unfortunately, Lucario is lacking in Speed and will suffer from severe four-moveslot syndrome regardless of whether it chooses to run a physical or special set. The physical set also is forced to use the inaccurate Iron Tail to check Fairy-types and if it doesn't run Crunch as coverage will find itself walled by physically defensive Pokemon that resist its STAB moves such as Jellicent and Doublade. The special set is forced to use relatively low-Base Power attacks, and Vacuum Wave is quite weak in particular, making Lucario more easily revenge killed and reliant on setting up.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance is used to boost Lucario's Attack to make it both a strong wallbreaker and a sweeper. Close Combat is Lucario's most powerful and accurate STAB attack to wallbreak with. In spite of its low accuracy, Iron Tail is used to hit Fairy-types super effectively and also gives Lucario an option to hit Ghost-types such as Sableye. Extreme Speed is powerful priority that covers up Lucario's low Speed and can protect Lucario from +1-priority moves such as Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave. Bullet Punch is an option to be used over Extreme Speed to hit Pokemon that resist Normal such as Mega Diancie and Terrakion, but it makes Lucario weaker in most matchups. Crunch can be used to beat Slowbro, but one of Lucario's main niches is to beat Fairy-types, which now wall its set, so it is rarely worth using without significant team support, and the special set uses Dark-type coverage better.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EV investment, an Adamant nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO Clefable and the potential to OHKO Skarmory at +2 and after Stealth Rock. Life Orb also helps Lucario deal meaningful damage without boosting, notably helping it revenge kill targets such as weakened Hawlucha and Gardevoir with Extreme Speed. With maximum Speed investment, Lucario is faster than Timid Heatran and can also outspeed Adamant Dragonite in order to use Extreme Speed first. Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss, which is OHKOed by +2 Extreme Speed after Stealth Rock damage, and Jirachi, which cannot even 2HKO Lucario with Heart Stamp, so that they can both be set up on. Steadfast might be tempting to sweep with a Speed boost, but it is simply not reliable in most cases, as Choice Scarf Jirachi requires two Steadfast activations to be outsped and Togekiss cannot be set up on without Inner Focus. While the Attack boost from Justified might benefit Lucario, Dark attacks are almost never used against Fighting teams, making it almost impossible to use.

Usage Tips
========

Lucario should be preserved until late-game, as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage will slowly chip away its health. That being said, do not hesitate to use Extreme Speed to revenge kill weakened foes such as Thundurus and Victini safely. As Lucario's bulk is quite poor, it should avoid being switched into any attack that isn't resisted. It will primarily set up Swords Dance against passive Pokemon like Forretress or Ferrothorn that cannot threaten Lucario. While bulky Water-types can be set up on and KOed with Close Combat, Scald can potentially cause a burn, ending Lucario's sweep, so they must be played around with caution. In general, burns and paralysis should be avoided, as they both spell the end of Lucario's sweep by halving its Attack or quartering its Speed. Because Lucario can at worst 2HKO most walls including even Mega Venusaur and Mandibuzz after a Swords Dance, setting up as the opponent sends out a defensive switch-in can allow Lucario to break its checks. Inner Focus should be taken advantage of to allow Lucario to set up Swords Dance against Choice Scarf Jirachi safely. Weakened Choice Scarf Togekiss can be used to set up a Swords Dance, as Extreme Speed will be able to take out Togekiss after one boost and Stealth Rock damage, although Iron Tail will always OHKO Togekiss even if no prior damage was dealt. If Lucario is running Crunch, it should not reveal it before the primary target, namely Slowbro, Doublade, or Jellicent, is switched in expecting a different coverage move.

Team Options
========

A second Swords Dance sweeper such as Hawlucha or Mega Gallade can work with Lucario to put huge pressure on shared checks. Choice Specs Keldeo is a fantastic wallbreaker capable of taking on most of Lucario's checks such as Gyarados, if Keldeo carries Hidden Power Electric; Skarmory; and Doublade. Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo is an alternative set, as Lucario and Keldeo can set up on each other's defensive checks. As a physical wallbreaker, Mega Medicham can be a good partner to open up holes in the opposing team for Lucario to sweep late-game. Crunch Lucario can also be a great help for Mega Medicham, handling Doublade nicely. Stealth Rock support is necessary for getting many KOs, such as against Skarmory and Flying-type Pokemon in general. In addition to providing Stealth Rock, Cobalion is also useful for its Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support, both of which make Lucario's job much easier by giving it safe switches and easing the burden of its low Speed, respectively. Infernape, on the other hand, is a more offensive Stealth Rock user capable of checking Doublade, Mega Scizor, and Skarmory that can also run Grass Knot to heavily damage Slowbro and Gastrodon. Breloom is a great partner thanks to its Grass-type STAB moves making it easy to handle certain walls such as Slowbro and Jellicent, both of which Lucario has trouble with when it lacks Crunch. Breloom's Technician Mach Punch can be used to revenge kill Excadrill and in conjunction with Lucario's Extreme Speed can take out weakened threats such as Unburden Hawlucha and Swift Swim Kingdra. Finally, Breloom's unique access to Spore gives Lucario free turns and switches, helping it find chances to set up in spite of its lack of bulk.

[SET]
name: Nasty Plot (Fighting)
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Flash Cannon
move 3: Dark Pulse
move 4: Aura Sphere / Vacuum Wave
item: Life Orb
ability: Inner Focus
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Nasty Plot is used to boost Lucario's Special Attack, making it a formidable sweeper. Flash Cannon is Lucario's most powerful special Steel-type STAB attack, capable of KOing Fairy-types. Dark Pulse is useful for hitting the Psychic- and Ghost-types that naturally threaten Fighting teams. Aura Sphere is the most reliable Fighting-type attack and deals great damage to anything that doesn't resist Fighting. Vacuum Wave is an alternative to Aura Sphere, giving Lucario priority to patch up its Speed. Focus Blast is a final option with huge power, capable of OHKOing Skarmory after breaking Sturdy and potentially OHKOing Klefki that don't predict the Lucario set correctly and use Reflect instead of Light Screen, but lacks accuracy.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack EV investment, a Modest nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO physically defensive Clefable and allowing +2 Lucario to OHKO Mew after Stealth Rock damage. In addition to being needed for certain KOs, Life Orb is necessary to give Lucario enough damage output to sweep, as its moves are quite lacking in Base Power. Maximum Speed EV investment makes Lucario faster than Timid Heatran and Excadrill out of sand. A Timid nature can also be used to outspeed certain threats such as Adamant Entei, Jolly Mamoswine, and Timid Chandelure without losing too much power. Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss and Jirachi so that Lucario can KO them in return with the appropriate move.

Usage Tips
========

Lucario should be saved for late-game so that it can sweep after its checks have been removed. Variants that lack Vacuum Wave should generally avoid being sent out early, as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage can slowly chip away at its health, putting it in more danger of being revenge killed. Nasty Plot is almost necessary to deal meaningful damage, so Lucario should be brought in safely against passive Pokemon to set up while generally not attacking before getting a boost. Due to its poor bulk, Lucario shouldn't be switched into even most resisted attacks, as any amount of damage can hurt Lucario's sweeping potential. Variants with Vacuum Wave can attempt to use it to revenge kill for their team, but generally setting up Nasty Plot on a retreating foe is more beneficial, as Vacuum Wave does very little damage. Lucario can bait defensive switch-ins that expect a physical set such as Skarmory, Doublade, and Slowbro and surprise them with the appropriate coverage. Lucario must avoid paralysis at all costs, as it cannot afford to be any slower than it already is.

Team Options
========

Stealth Rock support is necessary to chip away at foes to put them in range of Lucario's attacks. Cobalion can set up Stealth Rock, and its Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support is incredibly important for Lucario, which has a hard time switching in. Infernape can also set up Stealth Rock for Lucario, and with its Fire-type STAB moves it can handle Mega Scizor. A wallbreaker is important to help set up Lucario's sweep, so Choice Specs Keldeo, which wears down specially defensive switch-ins such as Zapdos, is a perfect teammate. Mega Medicham can also break walls and appreciates Lucario's ability to take out Pokemon such as Doublade and Slowbro, which wall Mega Medicham completely. Mega Gallade and Lucario pair up nicely, as they can set up easily on each other's checks, making it more likely that one of them can sweep late-game. Breloom can help Lucario find setup opportunities with its Spore support while providing more powerful priority in the form of Technician-boosted Mach Punch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

**Fighting:**
The Swords Dance set can use Ice Punch over Iron Tail or Crunch to hit Dragonite, but it is generally a far inferior coverage option and not worth running. A Jolly nature can be considered for the Swords Dance set, but without the boost in damage from Adamant, Lucario lacks the power to easily break Clefable and many other physical walls, and thanks to Extreme Speed, physical Lucario rarely needs the extra Speed. The Nasty Plot set can use Psychic to catch Mega Venusaur off guard, as a +2 Lucario will always OHKO it, or it can try using Hidden Power Ice to hit Dragonite, which can be OHKOed after Multiscale is broken, but losing one of its standard moves is a huge blow to its sweeping abilities. Steadfast can be used on a special set with a Timid nature to outspeed Choice Scarf Togekiss after one flinch, but it is incredibly unreliable and does not assist Lucario against Choice Scarf Jirachi, which Lucario needs boosts to KO with Dark Pulse. The Nasty Plot set can also potentially use Choice Specs and replace Nasty Plot with an additional coverage move. This will give it enough damage to always OHKO Togekiss and almost always OHKO physically defensive Clefable with Flash Cannon, but the loss of sweeping potential is a huge blow. While it is tempting to use Focus Sash to help Lucario set up either Swords Dance or Nasty Plot, neither set can afford the severe drop in power that losing Life Orb results in, making it a generally very poor item to use.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting:**
**Defensive Pokemon**: Depending on the set, Lucario is frustrated by the corresponding walls, such as Doublade for physical sets and specially defensive Gastrodon for special sets. Pokemon that cannot directly damage Lucario should be careful of being set up on, however.

**Revenge Killers**: Lucario is very slow, making it an easy target for revenge killers when it lacks boosts for its priority. Faster Pokemon such as Victini, Landorus-T, and Mega Pinsir while healthy or those that resist Extreme Speed such as Mega Diancie and Terrakion can take even a +2 Extreme Speed and OHKO Lucario.

**Zapdos**: Zapdos can generally beat most special Lucario, since it resists Lucario's STAB moves and Dark Pulse does very little, with even Discharge if it lacks Heat Wave. However, Zapdos cannot safely switch into physical sets, as Close Combat after a Swords Dance will 2HKO.

**Ground-types**: Most Ground-type Pokemon are naturally bulky, such as Garchomp and Landorus, and those that are faster than Lucario can switch into one unboosted hit to OHKO Lucario back with super effective STAB moves.

**Flying-types**: Although sometimes unable to switch into physical Lucario, Flying-type Pokemon such as Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y can generally check unboosted Lucario with their powerful STAB attacks.

**Fire- and Fighting-types**: Although they must be wary of boosted Extreme Speed and cannot switch into even resisted attacks, faster Fire- or Fighting-type Pokemon can easily revenge kill Lucario with their STAB attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

**Fighting:**
- Decent Attack and Special Attack stats and access to both Swords Dance and Nasty Plot make Lucario unpredictable
- Great typing with an immunity to Toxic Spikes and takes neutral damage from Psychic- and Fairy-type attacks. I honestly don't know if this is worth mentioning, with its bulk Psychic and Fairy move are going to look like they were SE anyways.. up to you though. If anything I would mention neutrality from Flying-type moves as thats almost relevant with Inner Focus being able to check Togekiss
- Steel-type STAB attacks make Lucario great for KOing Fairy-types
- Physical Lucario has Close Combat and Iron Tail, which are high Base Power STAB attacks, while Extreme Speed is powerful +2 priority
- Can act as one of the few special attackers on Fighting
- Special Lucario is a great check to problems such as Mega Sableye, Doublade, and Jellicent
- Poor Speed and suffers from severe 4 moveslot syndrome on both sets
- Defenses are very lacking, making it difficult to take full advantage of its defensive typing
- Physical set relies on inaccurate Iron Tail and is walled by Zapdos and Doublade ++2 252+ Atk Life Orb Lucario Close Combat vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Zapdos: 285-335 (74.4 - 87.4%)
- Special set has low Base Power attacks and relies much more heavily on setting up mention how its priority move Vacuum Wave is very weak so it is easier to revenge kill than the physical set
- Still has the potential to be a great revenge killer and cleaner

Moves
========

- Swords Dance boosts Lucario's Attack to make it both a strong wallbreaker and sweeper
- Close Combat is Lucario's most powerful and accurate STAB that is the main attack to break walls
- Iron Tail hits Fairy-types super effectively and gives Lucario an option to hit Ghost-types such as Mega Sableye
- Extreme Speed is powerful priority that covers up Lucario's low Speed. It also has higher priority than other priority moves such as Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave, which could deal sever damage.
- Bullet Punch can be used over Extreme Speed, but only does better specifically against faster Pokemon that resist Extreme Speed like Mega Diancie and Terrakion and makes Lucario weaker in other matchups

Set Details
========

- Maximum Attack EV investment, Adamant nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO Clefable and allows Lucario to potentially OHKO Skarmory at +2 and after Stealth Rock
- Life Orb also helps Lucario deal meaningful damage without boosting, notably helping Lucario revenge kill targets with Extreme Speed
- Maximum Speed EV investment puts Lucario above Timid Heatran and also outspeeds Adamant Dragonite to Extreme Speed first.
- Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss, which is OHKOed by +2 Extreme Speed what's the point of mentioning that you can avoid flinches if you're mentioning using a priority move that goes before Air Slash? after Stealth Rock damage, and Jirachi, which cannot even 2HKO Lucario with Heart Stamp

Usage Tips
========

- Preserve Lucario for late-game, as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage can slowly chip away its health
- Use Extreme Speed to revenge kill weakened foes such as Thundurus or Victini safely
- Set up Swords Dance against passive Pokemon such as Politoed not a good example, scald does like 70 and can burn.. try Forretress or something idk or Ferrothorn that can't threaten Lucario
- Lucaro's bulk is poor, so it should avoid being switched into any attack that isn't resisted.
- At +2, Lucario can at worst 2HKO most walls including even Mega Venusaur and Mega Sableye, so setting up on the defensive switch-in can allow Lucario to break even its checks
- Lucario should be used carefully against bulky Water-types, which although they can be set up on and KOed with Close Combat, can sometimes burn with Scald, ending Lucario's sweep. this directly contradicts the Politoed mention
- Lucario generally doesn't mind paralysis this might be an overstatement, Paralysis is still very annoying for such a frail Pokemon due to its access to Extreme Speed and is immune to being poisoned but must avoid burns, which will prevent Lucario from being useful
- Take advantage of Inner Focus to set up Swords Dance against Choice Scarf Jirachi. Weakened Togekiss can also be set up on, as Extreme Speed outprioritizes Air Slash, although Iron Tail can always OHKO Togekiss.

Team Options
========

- A second Swords Dance sweeper puts huge pressure on shared checks, so Hawlucha and Mega Gallade are great teammates
- Choice Specs Keldeo can handle Doublade, which walls Lucario, and also handles Skarmory and Gyarados, if it carries Hidden Power Electric.
- SubCM Keldeo is also another good option, as it handily counters Mega Sableye, which otherwise Lucario must rely on its inaccurate Iron Tail to beat.
- Mega Medicham can help break walls that do threaten Lucario, such as Hippowdon and Zapdos, and makes it easier to set up late-game
- Stealth Rock support is necessary for getting many KOes, especially against Skarmory and Flying teams mention the SR users, Cobalion and Infernape before going into detail on both of them
- In addition to having Stealth Rock Cobalion is useful for its Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support, both of which make Lucario's job much easier by giving Lucario safe switches and easing the burden of its low Speed, respectively
- Infernape can check Doublade, Mega Scizor, and Skarmory, making it a great offensive Stealth Rock user and variants with Grass Knot can heavily damage Slowbro and Gastrodon, both of which can be threatening
- Breloom is a fantastic partner because its Grass-type STAB easily checks certain walls such as Slowbro, Jellicent, and Hippowdon, which wall Lucario. It also has Mach Punch to revenge kill Excadrill and can work with Lucario's Extreme Speed to take out weakened threats such as Hawlucha and Kingdra. Spore also gives Lucario free turns and switches in, helping it find chances to set up in spite of its lack of bulk.

Moves

- Flash Cannon is a strong Steel-type STAB move to hit and KO Fairy-types
- Dark Pulse is useful for hitting the Psychic- and Ghost-types that threaten Fighting teams
- Aura Sphere is the most reliable Fighting-type special attack and deals great damage to anything that doesn't resist Fighting
- Vacuum Wave is an alternative to give Lucario priority, which both helps the team and patches up its Speed.
- Focus Blast is a final option in the last moveslot thanks to its huge power, capable of OHKOing Skarmory after breaking Sturdy and potentially OHKOing Klefki that use Reflect first instead of Light Screen, but its lack of accuracy makes it generally difficult to use.

- Preserve Lucario for late-game, as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage can slowly chip away its health
- Bluffing a physical set is a viable strategy, potentially luring in physically defensive foes such as Slowbro and Doublade.
- Nasty Plot is necessary to deal damage, so get Lucario in safely to use it against passive Pokemon, and avoid taking Life Orb recoil without a boost
- Due to its poor bulk, Lucario should avoid being switched into any attacks. Sets without Vacuum Wave's priority should be even more careful, as Lucario can be easily revenge killed
- Vacuum Wave can be used to revenge kill, but setting up a Nasty Plot on a retreating foe is generally more valuable, as Vacuum Wave is seriously lacking in power without a prior boost.
- Lucario can set up on Mega Sableye and beat it, which is generally worth taking a Will-O-Wisp to do.
- While specially offensive Lucario does not worry about burns reducing its damage, the persistent damage is crippling, and so burns should be avoided. Paralysis should also be avoided at all costs, as Lucario cannot afford to be any slower than it already is.

Team Options
========

- Stealth Rock support is necessary to chip away foes to put them in range of Lucario's attacks
- Cobalion's Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support are even more important for this set, which has a harder time switching in and can sometimes lack priority altogether, and Cobalion can easily set up Stealth Rock.
- Infernape can also set up Stealth Rock for Lucario, and with Fire-type STAB can handle Mega Scizor.

Hi-

Toxic Spikes is pretty irrelevant to mention in the overview because not many teams even have access to it.
Mention how Lucario's ability Inner Focus coupled with Steel typing allows it to take a hit from Togekiss and hit it back.

Crunch is an option, delete the "iron tail makes it walled by Doublade". Crunch can still be good depending on the match-up because it allows Luke to hit Psychic types, it really deserves a slash with Iron Tail as its pretty common as well, depending on the team.
Mention Focus Sash in set details because it is definitely an option, however, should not be used in place of Life Orb usually due to lack of hazard control breaking the sash and the less power.
Explain how Justified isn't used on Fighting teams because who's clicking a dark move vs a fighting team.

For the special set, I always considered Dark Pulse to be the slash. Aura sphere + cannon for dual strong STAB and priority Vacuum Wave/Dark Pulse makes more sense to me. Priority is extremely relevant after all and you did mention how its speed is pretty lackluster.

Checks and Counters: list examples of mons that easily check it and also mention how those mons can't switch in to Lucario.

Implemented most of it, except the special set. I'll slash Crunch, although I really think it's mixing up the point of using physical versus special Lucario.

Thanks. Went over it for spelling and found a few things, so hopefully I found all the typos. Moving to GP!

**Fighting:**
With a great offensive typing that provides Steel-type STAB, Lucario is one of Fighting's best offensive checks to Fairy-types. It has decent Attack and Special Attack stats and access to both Swords Dance and Nasty Plot, making Lucario's set quite unpredictable. Further, thanks again to its Steel typing, Lucario is able to take neutral damage from Flying-type moves. This combined with its Inner Focus ability allows Lucario to survive and avoid being flinched by Air Slash from Togekiss, making it a great check to Choice Scarf Togekiss. Lucario is also blessed with Extreme Speed, which has +2 priority, allowing Lucario to beat most priority users. Lucario is also one of the few special attackers on Fighting and can serve as a check to common problems such as Mega Sableye, Doublade, and Jellicent. Unfortunately, Lucario is lacking in Speed and will suffer from severe 4 four-moveslot syndrome regardless of whether it chooses to run a physical or special set. The physical set also is forced to use an inaccurate Iron Tail to check Fairy-types and if it doesn't run Crunch as coverage will find itself walled by physically defensive Pokemon that resist its STAB moves such as Jellicent and Doublade. The special set is forced to use relatively low-Base Power attacks, and in particular Vacuum Wave is quit weak in particular, making Lucario more easily revenge killed, (RC) and relies much more heavily reliant on setting up. That being said, thanks to its stats and movepool, Lucario has great potential to be a wallbreaker and late-game cleaner. Put this at the start of the overview or not at all

Moves
========

Swords Dance is used to boost Lucario's Attack to make it both a strong wallbreaker and sweeper. Close Combat is Lucario's most powerful and accurate STAB attack to break walls with. "break walls with" sounds very strange. I would say either "wallbreak with" or "beat walls with" In spite of its low accuracy, Iron Tail is used to hit Fairy-types super effectively and also gives Lucario an option to hit Ghost-types such as Mega Sableye. Extreme Speed is powerful priority that covers up Lucario's low Speed and can protect Lucario from lower +1-priority moves such as Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave. Bullet Punch is an option to be used over Extreme Speed to hit Pokemon that resist Extreme Speed such as Mega Diancie and Terrakion, but it makes Lucario weaker in most matchups. Crunch can be used to beat Slowbro, but one of Lucario's main niches is to beat Fairy-types, which now wall its set, so it is rarely worth using without significant team support, and the special set uses Dark-type coverage better. Further, without Iron Tail, Lucario has no chance at beating Mega Sableye at all.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EV investment, an Adamant nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO Clefable and allowing Lucario to potentially OHKO Skarmory at +2 and after Stealth Rock. Life Orb also helps Lucario deal meaningful damage without boosting, notably helping Lucario revenge kill targets which targets? with Extreme Speed. With maximum Speed EV investment, Lucario is faster than Timid Heatran and can also outspeed Adamant Dragonite in order to Extreme Speed first. Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss, which is OHKOed by +2 Extreme Speed after Stealth Rock damage, and Jirachi, which cannot even 2HKO Lucario with Heart Stamp, (AC) so that they can both be set up on. Steadfast may might be tempting to sweep with a Speed boost, but is simply not reliable in most cases, as Choice Scarf Jirachi requires 2 Steadfast activations to be outsped and Togekiss cannot be set up on without Inner Focus. While the Attack boost from Justified may might benefit Lucario, Dark-types attacks are almost never used against Fighting teams, making it almost impossible to use.

Usage Tips
========

In general, burns and paralysis should be avoided, as they both spell the end of Lucario's sweep by halving its Attack or quartering its already low Speed. I don't think this is relevant haha almost never can a Pokemon be faster after being paralyzed Because Lucario can at worst 2HKO most walls including even Mega Venusaur and Mega Sableye after a Swords Dance, setting up as the opponent sends out a defensive switch-in can allow Lucario to break its checks.

========

A second Swords Dance sweeper such as Hawlucha and Mega Gallade can work with Lucario to put huge pressure on shared checks. Choice Specs Keldeo is a fantastic wallbreaker capable of taking on most of Lucario's checks such as Gyarados, if Keldeo carries Hidden Power Electric; (SC) Skarmory;(SC) and Doublade. Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo is an alternative set that easily counters Mega Sableye, which Lucario must otherwise rely on its inaccurate Iron Tail or may be unable to touch if running Crunch. As a physical wallbreaker, Mega Medicham can be a good partner to open up holes in the opposing team for Lucario to sweep passed late-game. Crunch Lucario can also be a great help for Mega Medicham, handling Doublade nicely, although neither will be able to beat Mega Sableye. Breloom is a great partner thanks to its Grass-type STAB moves making it easy to handle certain walls such as Slowbro and Jellicent, both of which Lucario has trouble with when it has no Crunch. Breloom's Technician Mach Punch can be used to revenge kill Excadrill and in conjunction with Lucario's Extreme Speed can take out weakened threats such as Unburden Hawlucha and Swift Swim Kingdra. Finally, Breloom's unique access to Spore gives Lucario free turns and switches in, helping Lucario find chances to set up in spite of its lack of bulk.

Nasty Plot is used to boost Lucario's Special Attack, making it a formidable sweeper. Flash Cannon is Lucario's most powerful Steel-type STAB attack, capable of KOing Fairy-types. Dark Pulse is useful for hitting the Psychic- and Ghost-types that naturally threaten Fighting teams. Aura Sphere is the most reliable Fighting-type attack and deals great damage to anything that doesn't resist Fighting. Vacuum Wave is an alternative to Aura Sphere give giving Lucario priority to patch up its Speed. Focus Blast is a final option with huge power, capable of OHKOing Skarmory after breaking Sturdy and potentially OHKOing Klefki that don't predict the Lucario set correctly and use Reflect instead of Light Screen, but lacks accuracy.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack EV investment, a Modest nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO physically defensive Clefable and allowing +2 Lucario to OHKO Mega Sableye. In addition to being needed for certain KOs, Life Orb is necessary to give Lucario enough damage to sweep, as its moves are quite lacking in Base Power.

Usage Tips
========

Lucario should be saved for late-game so that it can sweep after its checks have been removed. Variants that lack Vacuum Wave should generally avoid being sent out early as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage can slowly chip away at its health, putting it in more danger of being revenge killed. Variants with Vacuum Wave can attempt to use it to revenge kill for its their team, but generally setting up Nasty Plot on a retreating foe is more beneficial, as Vacuum Wave does very little damage. Lucario can bait defensive switch-ins that expect a physical set such as Skarmory, Doublade, and Slowbro and surprise them with the appropriate coverage. It is also a reliable Mega Sableye counter, being capable of setting up faster, and Lucario should trade being burned by Will-O-Wisp to take out such a threat. Lucario must avoid paralysis at all costs, as it cannot afford to be any slower than it already is.

Team Options
========

Stealth Rock support is necessary to chip away foes to put them in range of Lucario's attacks. Cobalion can set up Stealth Rock and its Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support are incredibly important for Lucario, which has a harder time switching in and can sometimes lack priority altogether. don't see what this has to do with anything Infernape can also set up Stealth Rock for Lucario, and with its Fire-type STAB moves can handle Mega Scizor. A wallbreaker is important to help set up Lucario's sweep, so Choice Specs Keldeo, which wears down specially defensive switch-ins such as Zapdos, is a perfect teammate. Mega Medicham can also break walls and appreciates Lucario's ability to take out Pokemon such as Doublade, Slowbro, and Mega Sableye, which wall Mega Medicham completely.

**Fighting:**
The Swords Dance set can use Ice Punch over Iron Tail or Crunch to hit Dragonite, but is generally a far inferior coverage option and not worth running. Steadfast can be used on a special set with a Timid nature to outspeed Choice Scarf Togekiss after one flinch, but is incredibly unreliable and does not assist Lucario against Choice Scarf Jirachi, which Lucario needs boosts to KO with Dark Pulse. Furthermore, Jellicent and Calm Mind Mega Sableye, two Pokemon Lucario is meant to counter, no longer fear Lucario outside of being flinched by Dark Pulse. While it is tempting to use Focus Sash to help Lucario set up either Swords Dance or Nasty Plot, neither set can afford the severe drop in power that losing Life Orb results in, making it a generally very poor item to use.

Checks and Counters
===================

Faster Pokemon such as Victini, Landorus-T, and Mega Pinsir while healthy or those that resist Extreme Speed such as Mega Diancie or Terrakion can take even a +2 Extreme Speed to and OHKO Lucario.

**Flying-types**: Although sometimes unable to switch into physical Lucario, Flying-type Pokemon such as Thundurus and Mega Charizard Y can generally check generally KO unboosted Lucario with their powerful STAB attacks.

**Fire- or Fighting-types**: Although they must be wary of boosted Extreme Speed and cannot switch into even resisted attacks, faster Fire- or Fighting-type Pokemon can easily revenge kill Lucario with their STAB attacks.

[OVERVIEW]

Usage Tips
========

Thanks, implemented!

Quick question on this line: Vacuum Wave is an alternative to Aura Sphere giving Lucario priority to patch up its Speed. There needs to be a comma before giving right?

gato sez: yes, comma pls

A Timid nature can also be used to outspeed certain threats such as Adamant Entei, Jolly Mamoswine, and Timid Chandelure without losing too much power. Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss and Jirachi so that Lucario can KO them in return with the appropriate move.

Usage Tips
========

Lucario should be saved for late-game so that it can sweep after its checks have been removed. Variants that lack Vacuum Wave should generally avoid being sent out early as Life Orb recoil and entry hazard damage can slowly chip away at its health, putting it in more danger of being revenge killed. It is also a reliable Mega Sableye counter, being capable of setting up faster, and Lucario should trade being burned by Will-O-Wisp to take out such a threat. Lucario must avoid paralysis at all costs, as it cannot afford to be any slower than it already is.

Team Options
========

Stealth Rock support is necessary to chip away at foes to put them in range of Lucario's attacks. Cobalion can set up Stealth Rock and its Volt Switch and Thunder Wave support are incredibly important for Lucario, which has a hard time switching in. Infernape can also set up Stealth Rock for Lucario, and with its Fire-type STAB moves can handle Mega Scizor.

**Fighting:**
The Swords Dance set can use Ice Punch over Iron Tail or Crunch to hit Dragonite, but is generally a far inferior coverage option and not worth running. Steadfast can be used on a special set with a Timid nature to outspeed Choice Scarf Togekiss after one flinch, but is incredibly unreliable and does not assist Lucario against Choice Scarf Jirachi, which Lucario needs boosts to KO with Dark Pulse.

===================

Faster Pokemon such as Victini, Landorus-T, and Mega Pinsir while healthy or those that resist Extreme Speed such as Mega Diancie or Terrakion can take even a +2 Extreme Speed and OHKO Lucario.

**Fire- or Fighting-types**: Although they must be wary of boosted Extreme Speed and cannot switch into even resisted attacks, faster Fire- or Fighting-type Pokemon can easily revenge kill Lucario with their STAB attacks.

[OVERVIEW]
Unfortunately, Lucario is lacking in Speed and will suffer from severe four-moveslot syndrome regardless of whether it chooses to run a physical or special set. The physical set also is forced to use
an the (not required, but "an" implies there's an accurate alternative) inaccurate Iron Tail to check Fairy-types and if it doesn't run Crunch as coverage will find itself walled by physically defensive Pokemon that resist its STAB moves such as Jellicent and Doublade. The special set is forced to use relatively low-Base Power attacks, and Vacuum Wave is quite weak in particular, making Lucario more easily revenge killed and reliant on setting up.

Moves

Swords Dance is used to boost Lucario's Attack to make it both a strong wallbreaker and sweeper. Close Combat is Lucario's most powerful and accurate STAB attack to wallbreak with. In spite of its low accuracy, Iron Tail is used to hit Fairy-types super effectively and also gives Lucario an option to hit Ghost-types such as Mega Sableye. Extreme Speed is powerful priority that covers up (not sure about this, "compensates for" might be better) Lucario's low Speed and can protect Lucario from +1-priority moves such as Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack EV investment, an Adamant nature, and Life Orb make Lucario as powerful as possible, giving it the best chance to OHKO Clefable and allowing Lucario to potentially OHKO Skarmory at +2 and after Stealth Rock. Life Orb also helps Lucario deal meaningful damage without boosting, notably helping Lucario revenge kill targets such as weakened Hawlucha or Gardevoir with Extreme Speed. With maximum Speed EV investment, Lucario is faster than Timid Heatran and can also outspeed Adamant Dragonite in order to Extreme Speed first. Inner Focus is used to avoid flinches from Togekiss, which is OHKOed by +2 Extreme Speed after Stealth Rock damage, and Jirachi, which cannot even 2HKO Lucario with Heart Stamp, so that they can both be set up on. Steadfast might be tempting to sweep with a Speed boost, but is simply not reliable in most cases, as Choice Scarf Jirachi requires 2 Steadfast activations to be outsped and Togekiss cannot be set up on without Inner Focus. While the Attack boost from Justified might benefit Lucario, Dark-type attacks are almost never used against Fighting teams, making it almost impossible to use.

Usage Tips
========

Because Lucario can at worst 2HKO most walls including even Mega Venusaur and Mega Sableye after a Swords Dance, setting up as the opponent sends out a defensive switch-in can allow Lucario to break its checks.

========

A second Swords Dance sweeper such as Hawlucha and Mega Gallade can work with Lucario to put huge pressure on shared checks. Choice Specs Keldeo is a fantastic wallbreaker capable of taking on most of Lucario's checks such as Gyarados, if Keldeo carries Hidden Power Electric; Skarmory; and Doublade. Substitute + Calm Mind Keldeo is an alternative set that easily counters Mega Sableye, against which Lucario must otherwise rely on its inaccurate Iron Tail or may be unable to touch if running Crunch. As a physical wallbreaker, Mega Medicham can be a good partner to open up holes in the opposing team for Lucario to sweep late-game. Crunch Lucario can also be a great help for Mega Medicham, handling Doublade nicely, although neither will be able to beat Mega Sableye. Breloom is a great partner thanks to its Grass-type STAB moves making it easy to handle certain walls such as Slowbro and Jellicent, both of which Lucario has trouble with when it has no Crunch (a bit awkward, "lacks Crunch" might sound better). Breloom's Technician Mach Punch can be used to revenge kill Excadrill and in conjunction with Lucario's Extreme Speed can take out weakened threats such as Unburden Hawlucha and Swift Swim Kingdra. Finally, Breloom's unique access to Spore gives Lucario free turns and switches, helping Lucario find chances to set up in spite of its lack of bulk.

Thanks, implemented most of it.

The an vs. the thing I'm not sure of, since Iron Tail is the only viable move Lucario can use for physical Steel-type coverage outside of Bullet Punch.

I had Dark-type originally (the place you said to add -type), but Gato removed that, so I'm going to stick with what he said.

Also, I had to edit out the Mega Sableye mentions, I just deleted it and fixed singular/plural issues where necessary.

Checks and Counters
===================

Faster Pokemon such as Victini, Landorus-T, and Mega Pinsir while healthy or those that resist Extreme Speed such as Mega Diancie or and Terrakion can take even a +2 Extreme Speed and OHKO Lucario.

**Fire- or and Fighting-types**: Although they must be wary of boosted Extreme Speed and cannot switch into even resisted attacks, faster Fire- or Fighting-type Pokemon can easily revenge kill Lucario with their STAB attacks.
