Rejected - Inactive Add a PS/Smogon tutorial FAQ for new users

Every now and then there'll always be someone who's basically new to everything and has literally no idea what's going on. Rather than taking time out of the day to explain everything to them, I think it'd be better to have some kind of tutorial that features an introduction to PS and Smogon, as well as a tutorial that teaches users what people can use either site for.

Relevant features would be:
  • Introduction to PS (the tutorial link below effectively covers this already)
  • PS Tutorial
  • Basics to battling
  • Intro to competitive Pokemon
  • Introduction to Smogon
  • Smogon Tutorial (if one exists, I could not find it). This would include things like:
    • Setting up an account (and the importance of choosing a name you'd want to use for a long time)
    • Explaining the interface and its features
    • Navigating the forums
    • Explaining the other aspects (smogon Home page, Dex, Articles, etc)?
    • Probably other things that I'm not thinking of atm?
With a few tweaks to these for them to coalign with how PS and Smogon operate nowadays, I think this could be an incredibly useful resource, as most of these are pages that a majority of people would otherwise just end up not seeing, if they had to go looking for them, or at the very least skip the middleman of having to go through the help room for some of these.

You could name the command /faq beginnersguide (or bg for short).

Whether you'd want this to be just a /faq or an addition to the main menu (pictured below since I'm unsure of the proper title of it) or both is up to the staff, though I think both would probably be the most immediately useful so that people can know what PS/Smogon are all about without having to hear it through other people, while also giving other people the ability to help if users end up neglecting the menu addition.
You could either add it as one of the main buttons which then pulls up a PS tab providing all the relevant links and info or make it one of the hyperlinks at the bottom which opens up a new browser tab that has all the relevant links and info.

I think there are a few approaches that could be taken:
  • Giving /intro more aliases and/or including it in /faq would likely make it more widely known.
  • I like Pumpkinz's idea of displaying it in a popup for new users. Perhaps for simplicity's sake you could expand it out to anyone who logs into PS on a guest account.
  • I also do think adding it to the PS main menu as described in the op would greatly improve its visibility.

To add to what Rosa says, some users that focus on playing and not on chat activities take months before understanding how to use the commands, much more finding /intro. With a hyperlink, this new Tutorial format seems like the better replacement for reaching more users.
