Good lord imagine finding this thing eating your clothes!
[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Fiery Dance
move 2: Sludge Wave
move 3: Energy Ball / Discharge / Dazzling Gleam
move 4: Dazzling Gleam / Overheat / Tera Blast / Acid Spray
item: Choice Specs / Choice Scarf / Assault Vest
ability: Quark Drive
nature: Timid
evs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
tera type: Grass / Fire / Fairy / Water
[SET COMMENTS]
* Excellent offensive stats, the useful ability to absorb Toxic Spikes, and good coverage make Iron Moth one of the best choices for an offensive Fire-type.
* **Energy Ball versus Discharge**: One of these two moves is highly recommended to hit Dondozo hard and OHKO Iron Bundle if not using Choice Specs. Energy Ball deals massive damage to Great Tusk, Garganacl, and Hippowdon. Discharge trades hitting Ground-types hard for not getting walled by opposing Iron Moth.
* **Dazzling Gleam**: Dazzling Gleam is the best option against Dragon-types such as Dragapult and Roaring Moon.
* **Overheat**: Even with the lack of extra coverage, Overheat is so strong that very few Pokemon can safely switch into it.
* **Acid Spray**: For Assault Vest or Life Orb sets, Acid Spray can be a way to get past Skeledirge that lack Earth Power. If using Choice Specs and Tera Poison, it becomes extremely difficult to check defensively, with Skeledirge in particular being 2HKOed after Stealth Rock damage.
Other Options
========
* **Flame Charge**: If not using a Choice Item, coverage can be sacrificed in exchange for giving Iron Moth the ability to outspeed major threats such as Iron Bundle, Flutter Mane, and Dragapult.
* **U-turn**: Iron Moth is fully capable of being a reasonable pivot, though U-turn is rather weak.
Tera Types
========
* **Grass**: Tera Grass massively improves Iron Moth's matchup against common Ground-types like Great Tusk and Garchomp, comma and the high powered Energy Ball helps against Assault Vest Dondozo. The immunity to Spore can help in a pinch against Brute Bonnet and Breloom too.
* **Fire**: When paired with Overheat and Choice Specs, Tera Fire means Fire-resistant foes aren't safe; even physically defensive Skeledirge is 2HKOed!
* **Fairy**: The boost given to Dazzling Gleam makes Tera Fairy far more effective against Dragon-types, now being able to OHKO Dragapult, comma and even OHKO Garchomp if using Choice Specs.
* **Water**: With Tera Blast, Tera Water improves the Skeledirge and Iron Moth matchup.
* **Poison**: Tera Poison gives Sludge Wave good damage potential and removes Iron Moth's annoying Stealth Rock weakness. It also turns Acid Spray into a deadly wall-breaking move.
Items
========
* **Choice Specs**: Choice Specs turns Iron Moth into a full blown wallbreaker.
* **Choice Scarf**: Choice Scarf outspeeds important threats such as Iron Bundle, Flutter Mane, and Dragapult, who could otherwise outpseed and KO Iron Moth.
* **Assault Vest**: Iron Moth's good special bulk makes Assault Vest a fine choice, letting it survive new attacks such as an unboosted Hydro Pump from Iron Bundle and Rotom-W.
* **Life Orb**: Life Orb's ability to switch moves over Choice Specs can make it desirable since it still has similar wallbreaking capabilities, though it makes Iron Moth much more vulnerable to priority and Stealth Rock damage.
[SET]
name: Speedy Booster Energy
move 1: Fiery Dance
move 2: Dazzling Gleam
move 3: Energy Ball / Discharge
move 4: Acid Spray / Sludge Wave
item: Booster Energy
ability: Quark Drive
nature: Timid
evs: 124 Def / 132 SpA / 252 Spe
tera type: Grass / Fire / Fairy / Poison
[SET COMMENTS]
* With Booster Energy in its circuits, Iron Moth can sacrifice some of its power to become a surprisingly effective late-game sweeper and emergency revenge killer.
* **Dazzling Gleam**: Dazzling Gleam is Iron Moth's ticket to overloading Dragon-types like Roaring Moon and Dragapult, who can otherwise stop a sweep.
* **Energy Ball versus Discharge**: Iron Moth will usually want a move to OHKO Iron Bundle. Energy Ball is the best choice since it also hits Great Tusk and Hippowdon hard, but Discharge does prevent opposing Iron Moth from walling this set.
* **Acid Spray versus Sludge Wave**: Acid Spray on its own is weak without Tera Poison, but it presents Iron Moth a chance to break through Skeledirge and Assault Vest Dondozo. Sludge Wave is the more reliable STAB move for dealing big damage to Azumarill and common Tera Fairy foes such as Garchomp and Rotom-W.
* **EV Spread**: The given EV Spread ensures Iron Moth gets a Speed boost upon consuming Booster Energy while also surviving a neutral 120 BP attack from Great Tusk without an offensive item thanks to Terastallization.
Tera Types
========
* **Grass**: Tera Grass is among the best options, preventing Ground-types such as Great Tusk and Garchomp from easily stopping a late-game sweep.
* **Fire**: With Tera Fire, Fiery Dance's somewhat underwhelming damage output can be overcome, now letting Iron Moth OHKO Iron Bundle.
* **Fairy**: Tera Fairy ensures that most Dragapult and Roaring Moon will now be OHKOed, in addition to being immune to deadly Dragon-type attacks.
* **Poison**: Tera Poison will make Acid Spray just as powerful as Fiery Dance, making it especially effective against Assault Vest Dondozo, in addition to letting Sludge Wave OHKO defensive Tera Fairy Garchomp.
* **Water**: If paired with Tera Blast, Tera Water is usually the best option against Skeledirge, though this will come at the cost of coverage or Acid Spray's wallbreaking utility.
