Ubers Deoxys

I might have gotten a bit far into the spirit of things.

[OVERVIEW]

* Deoxys has very solid offensive stats and a high base Speed of 150, allowing it to serve as an attacker.
* A good movepool including support and coverage moves such as Spikes and Ice Beam lets it hit a variety of threats.
* Unfortunately, Deoxys is completely outclassed by its other formes.
* Deoxys's miserable bulk of 50 / 50 / 50 is technically higher than Deoxys-A's 50 / 20 / 20, but it is still entirely inadequate to take hits from other Pokemon. Conversely, Deoxys-A's superior attacking stats make it tangibly more capable as an attacker and as an entry hazard setter.
* Deoxys-S's higher Speed and bulk also allow it to do a better job of setting up hazards.
* Deoxys's given set is a gimmick crafted to find it some conceivable niche that its other formes cannot achieve. In reality, Deoxys is completely unviable and should not be used on any serious teams.

[SET]
name: Marshadow Lure
move 1: Psycho Boost
move 2: Taunt
move 3: Pursuit
move 4: Spikes / Ice Beam
item: Kasib Berry
ability: Pressure
nature: Jolly
evs: 228 Atk / 120 Def / 48 SpD / 112 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

* Psycho Boost is a powerful STAB Psychic-type attack that will OHKO Marshadow and Mega Gengar and do fairly good damage to neutral offensive targets.
* Taunt prevents Pokemon that may take advantage of Deoxys such as Necrozma-DM from setting up on it.
* Pursuit allows Deoxys to OHKO Mega Gengar after Stealth Rock and Deoxys-A if they try to switch out, although it should be wary of Extreme Speed from the latter.
* Spikes hurt the opponent's Pokemon when they switch in, allowing Deoxys to provide support for its team.
* Alternatively, Ice Beam can surprise bulky Dragon-types such as Zygarde-C, which may expect Deoxys to be running some other gimmick and try to take advantage of it.

Set Details
========

* The idea behind this set is to make Marshadow users believe that they can OHKO Deoxys with priority Shadow Sneak. The given bulk along with the Kasib Berry, which reduces damage from Ghost-type attacks, allows Deoxys to always survive Shadow Sneak from Life Orb Marshadow after Stealth Rock and proceed to OHKO it. While this is an extremely useless gimmick, it stands out as something that Deoxys-A cannot achieve.
* The Speed investment allows Deoxys to barely outspeed standard Deoxys-A and OHKO it with Pursuit, giving it one additional niche, although it should be wary of Extreme Speed.
* The Attack investment allows Deoxys to always OHKO Mega Gengar with Pursuit after Stealth Rock or Spikes damage. The Special Defense investment helps in this regard by giving Deoxys-N a fairly good chance to survive an attack from Hex Mega Gengar in the event Pursuit is predicted, which is notable, as it is technically something Deoxys-A cannot do.

Usage Tips
========

* Don't actually use Deoxys.
* Being bulkier than the least bulky Pokemon in the game should not be mistaken for being able to take hits. Deoxys will faint from just about any attack used in the Ubers tier.
* Don't directly switch into Marshadow, as taking damage will make Deoxys unable to survive Shadow Sneak even with the Kasib Berry. Additionally, Marshadow users may realize that you are running some gimmick to handle it if you are the one to switch in. Instead, Deoxys should try to KO something weak with Psycho Boost and surprise Marshadow as it switches in to revenge kill.
* To trap its other two main targets, Mega Gengar and Deoxys-A, rely on free switches to trap and revenge kill them.
* If the opponent switches in a Pokemon that could set up on Deoxys, such as Necrozma-DM, it is usually better to stay in and use Taunt to prevent a setup, even if it risks sacrificing Deoxys.
* If running Spikes, use it when given a free turn if the opposing team does not run any of Deoxys's main targets . Otherwise, spam Psycho Boost when given a free turn.

Team Options
========

* Psycho Boost causes a stat drop that makes Deoxys easy to set up on. Because of this, Marshadow is ironically a fairly good partner, as are similar sweep-stopping Pokemon such as Scarf Xerneas and Yveltal.
* Pokemon that dislike Marshadow, such as Rayquaza, Ultra Necrozma, Mega Gengar, Extreme Killer Arceus, and Arceus-Ground, may find some benefit from Deoxys's presence.
* Similarly, Pokemon bothered by Mega Gengar, such as Arceus-Fairy, Chansey, and Toxapex, may benefit from Deoxys trapping it.
* Tapu Lele is a good partner, as it strengthens Deoxys's Psycho Boost and protects it from priority attacks that would OHKO it. However, Marshadow will not stay in on Deoxys under Psychic Terrain, so be careful not to step on your toes with that.
* Given the real reasons you run Deoxys, Pokemon such as Scarf Shaymin-S, Trick Room + Calm Mind Gothitelle, and Cloud Nine Golduck may function as more appropriate teammates.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Copying a Deoxys-A set may allow Deoxys to actually contribute meaningfully to a team, but any set achieved in this manner will be distinctly inferior to using it on Deoxys-A. Notably, suicide entry hazard setting is the set it could copy in which it is least inferior, which may be helpful if trying to build an otherwise functional team.
* Using a Colbur Berry and Counter could allow a KO against Yveltal if it tries to use Sucker Punch.
* Lure moves such as Fire Punch can help Deoxys surprise threats such as Ferrothorn.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Necrozma-DM takes Deoxys's hits without much trouble and will set up entry hazards or boosts for a sweep on it. Magearna easily walls Deoxys's attacks and can pivot on it or KO with Fleur Cannon. Ferrothorn happily sets up hazards on Deoxys.

**Dark-types**: Yveltal, Arceus-Dark, and Tyranitar are immune to Psycho Boost, take negligible damage from Pursuit, and easily OHKO Deoxys. Mega Sableye walls all its attacks with ease.

**Ghost-types**: Lunala, Giratina-O, and even Giratina easily wall and OHKO Deoxys. For that matter, even Marshadow can handle it with Shadow Sneak if Deoxys has switched into Stealth Rock twice.

**Faster Pokemon**: Choice Scarf users such as Xerneas, as well as faster Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo Y, can outspeed and OHKO Deoxys.

**Bulky Attackers**: Arceus-Ground, Arceus-Fairy, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Xerneas, and just about anything that runs a STAB move and isn't OHKOed by Psycho Boost, which is most Ubers Pokemon, can just take a hit and OHKO Deoxys.

Well written analysis for a bottom of the barrel Pokemon, unique ‘workable’ set that sets it apart from other Deoxys formes. Good job

QC: 3/3

Lol that's interesting praise considering what I actually wrote. Thanks for the check and marking up for GP!

Instead, Deoxys should try to kill KO something weak with Psycho Boost, (rc) and get surprise (there's probably a better way to put this, but "get" is incredibly vague) Marshadow as it switches in to revenge kill.
* To trap its other two main targets, Mega Gengar and Deoxys-A, rely on free switches from revenge killing (not too sure what this mean, so elaborate. do you mean to take advantage of free switches given when your opponent revenge kills something on your team?) to capture them.

========

* Given the real reasons you run Deoxys, Pokemon such as Scarf Shaymin-S (i'm assuming you don't mean the land forme), Trick Room + Calm Mind Gothitelle, and Cloud Nine Golduck may function as more appropriate teammates.

Other Options
=============

* Copying a Deoxys-A set may allow Deoxys to actually contribute meaningfully to a team, but any set achieved in this manner will be distinctly inferior to using it on Deoxys-A. Notably, suicide entry hazard setting is the set it could copy in which it is least inferior, which may be helpful if trying to build an otherwise-functional (remove hyphen) (no need for a hyphen with an adverb modifying an adjective unless to eliminate ambiguity) team.
* Using a Colbur Berry and Counter could allow a KO against Yveltal if it tries to use Sucker Punch.
* Lure moves such as Fire Punch can help Deoxys surprise threats such as Ferrothorn.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Necrozma-DM takes Deoxys's hits without much damage trouble and will set up entry hazards or boosts for a sweep on it. Magearna easily walls Deoxys's attacks and can pivot on it or KO with Fleur Cannon. Ferrothorn happily sets up hazards on Deoxys.

**Dark-types**: Yveltal, Arceus-Dark, and Tyranitar are immune to Psycho Boosts, take negligible damage from Pursuit, and easily OHKO Deoxys.

I can appreciate good satire in an analysis of a shitmon
I just noticed this means Deoxys-N is now officially gonna be up before Pdon, gg ubers
Implemented, thanks for the check!
